I am on Android M right now and sometimes I have some kind of a weird random reboot on my phone... My phone is NOT rooted but the crazy thing is: it is like a soft reboot because after the rebooting process -> apps are still open (atleast in the recently opened apps tab) ... Does somebody have a solution or does somebody have the same problem? Is it a software problem? Thx in regards![emoji16]

The recent thing is just how it works in L up afaik, it just displays apps open even through a powercycle. You mainly need to try and narrow it down and figure out what the realm of the cause may be, then get a logcat, no root needed just setup adb.

i reverted back to kitkat and i don't have reboots anymore (but i don't think it was a software problem but only the fact i didn't factory reset my phone after updating to MM)

I just upgraded supersu from google play. After a reboot, the tablet locks after about 20 seconds or so. After that it is impossible to access anything. The tablet then reboot. The only pudate I did was supersu
It took me few tries to be able to access the settings and remove the update before the tablet locks.
Now it seems to work again without problem.
Don't update until the problem is solved
Mod if this should be placed in another forum feel free to move it

Well the only thing I did was removing the update to supersu.
I also connected the tablet to my laptop thinking I will have to odin back to stock. But didn't need too. I hope it was nothing... I just wanting to let people know it may be a problem

FWIW, I had the same issue, too. I'll also keep looking into it.
Also getting that request for "dumpstate", too.

I have looked further into the problem, it seems that the new supersu may not play well with some apps that request root access. I had avast anti theft software which required root. I uninstalled it reapplied supersu update and it is working. Also avast keep on giving me error even after the downgrade of supersu.
Like you I had the request for dumstate.
Finally I have avast on my galaxy nexus and the new supersu and no problem at all.
So as of now on the tablet I cannot have both (avast and new supersu) together

A friend of mine having the same issue with N7000.
How did you manage to uninstall update before getting stucked.
Same Issue here. Stucked after reboot after SU Binary update.
Managed to run "top" in adb shell which shows me that /system/xbin/su runs to many times......
no problem here on 5 devices

Restart the tablet as soon as you are on the lock screen tap status bar , tap settings, tap applications scroll to supersu and uninstall upday tap ok. You have to do it as fast as possible before 5he tablet locks... I had to do it a dozen times before succeeding
Good luck

This happened to me as well...had to race to SuperSU/settings and changed Default Access from Prompt to Grant and it stopped locking up...couple of reboots then and reset access on your apps after it completely reboots and settles down.....
I had this issue yesterday after installing ROM Android Revolution HD. I thought it was a problem with rom and returned to stock. But on stock I updated it and have no problems.
There's a new update with some bug fixes out. I don't know if it fixes your problem since I did not have it.
Hi guys, why is it that whenever my stick Note 3 receives a software update after restart all of the apps that I had in folders are removed and scatted across multiple pages. Also some of my widgets get deleted?
Any idea how I can prevent this from happening?

Update: Ok guys I know thing this issue maybe due to booting into safe mode rather than a softwatr update.
When I updated to the new patch my phone rebooted into safe mode at first.
I have read similar experiences from others online where their widgets are deleted after booting into safe mode.
Does anyone jnow why this happens???
To my knowledge this bug is as old as Touchwiz itself.
I have the Note 4 (SM-N910H), I've had mine rooted for 2 weeks and it kept randomly rebooting twice or so every 1-2 days, now I've removed the root and everything seems to be working fine with no reboots for 1 week. Most (I even think all of them) of the random reboots happened while the phone was idle (screen off).
I've rooted using the CF-Auto-Root via odin.
Anyone knows why the root was causing random reboots for me? I've tried with knox disabled and enabled and with both options I get the same reboots while the phone is idle, also I would like to mention that I don't have an SD card in my phone. I tried everything, Tried a recovery reset, tried a soft reset... It only happens when I root it.
Thanks.
Sometimes xposed module can be a culprit.

Xposed sucks on a stock odex roms. I suggest you flash a new rom or deodex your stock rom.
the note4 i have atm was never rooted (efuse intact), but it also reboots randomly every few days, sometimes every few hours!
so i would say root is NOT the general cause!!
maybe, or perhaps root makes it worse, but it cant be the only reason!!

In my case it's the issue, I've had mine un-rooted for 3 weeks now with no any random reboot, I rooted it yesterday using CF auto root just to test and it rebooted today while it was idle. I've never used any Xposed modules. It's also on stock rom and stock recovery.

I think it's worth a try to unroot and see if the problem is solved for you.
Thank you.
Do you know how to unroot?
The biggest problem is how to pass my apps and data without Titanium that needs root access..

Just flash the latest stock ROM from sam mobile (http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/) for your exact model number and CSC using odin, no data or apps will be lost and root will be automatically removed after the process.
You can install "Phone INFO ★Samsung★" from play store to know what your exact model number and CSC, you can also type all the fields you get after you open it (except for your IMEI) and write them down here to me so I can give you a link of the stock ROM from sam mobile so you just download and flash via odin.
After rooting open SuperSu and choose never for the question to also disable Knox. Until now I didn't have any unexpected reboot.

I mentioned in my original post that I tried with both, knox disabled and enabled but with both options I had the same random reboots, no matter what I do, the same problem for me as long as I am rooted. Did you have random reboots before while you are rooted and now you fixed it somehow?
Hi everyone,
Recently I rebooted my phone and noticed that it took extremely long to boot. As soon as it was powered on I got a pop-up saying there's an internal system error. At this point I have no hope of fixing it, because all my app data is already gone (for example: whatsapp needs to be set up again, game data lost, etc.) But I do wonder what it means, and if there's a way to prevent it. I also made a logcat, but I'm not sure if it's the correct type (it's really long). Here's a screenshot of the error message: https://imgur.com/zd6kM3z

Do a factory reset if this wouldn't work then try to flash a new stock room through odin.
Thanks, but i know how to fix it. The message already explains it, and since i lost most of my data anyway there was no reason to stay on that rom. I was just wondering if anybody knows what it means and how to prevent it next time around.

Hi
I was tired of the instability with root, custom roms and kernels and decided to go back stock.
I flashed stock firmware from Sammobile and did a factory reset afterwards. Only app I have installed that changes anything is greenify with aggressive doze. Could that do it? Witnessed it twice already. My phone vibrates 2 times and then reboot. Could I have done anything with custom kernel so something in my phone is broken?
do you have an sdcard installed in your phone?
if yes, then try using phone without one.
clear cache after removing card and reboot.
also install a cpu temperature monitoring app that shows temp all the time on screen.
This way you can monitor is the issue is sdcard or thermall shutdown/reset.
I think this is heading in the right direction. I have a stock S7edge and 40GB of music and about 10GB photos on my 128 GB Samsung SD card. I have been trying for a month to track down why I get one quick vibrate, then 5-10 sec later two quick vibrates and then the phone reboots.
It's been driving me crazy. Ive factory wiped the phone twice, I only use apps from the app store, I've tried tracking my apps and installing / removing app after app, and can't seem to figure out a pattern.
Now that we're discussing the SD card I think this may actually be the cause. I do think my music app (rocket player , but also happened with monkeymedi) was running and I have the photo album widget running at same time when the reboots occur.
Again this is very had to figure out. From what I can tell there is no crash reporter for Android like there is for iPhone (which is unbelievable).
Please keep this thread going. I think we're on to something.

Hi guys.
I had the same problem and i try all ways (factory reset, Wipe, Flash different Kernels and...) but my phone (Note3 N9005) reboot randomly.
I saw a video in YouTube and he solved this problem by installing a simple app (Wake Lock). I tried this way and my problem completely solved.
