Approximate sensor not working at all... - OnePlus 2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi all!
My approximate sensor isn't working anymore (OnePlus 2), and when I searched for the reason (or solution ) on the internet, I've found this link:
https://forums.oneplus.net/threads/afx-zip-containing-persist-img-reserve4-img.198286/
I've downloaded afx.zip (with persistent.img) and just wanted to know if someone has had the same problem... And how did he fix it... Is it dangerous to flash persistent.img?
Best regards, Lorenz Demar

I had the same problem. Then i removed my tempered glass protector which was covering also that sensor. now it works as it should.

Also, having a wallet case for this phone with card holder can put the upper part to far away from the proximity sensor for it to function, that is the case with my CaseMe leather wallet case, solution is to put some layers of electric tape on the upper part inside of the case ?

Thank you guys, nothing helped. I have'nt a flip cover so I don't think this may help but thank you anyway for your time, I think I try to flash persist.img. I'll Update this post if I'm done

Ok guys please listen!!!! Do not flash persist.img it will destroy your device!!! I have no camera at all working, cpu-z says there are no sensors...

Need help to turn of the flashlight

My flash is keep on or sometimes flashing. I don't know how to turn it off..when I take the battery out, it will off, but once I put the battery back, the light is on..
Anyone can help me? Thanks
Camera Flash on all time
I am facing the same problem... the flash keeps flickering n does not switch off.
It only switches off when turned on/off using the camera. Still after some time it switches on again...
I was told on on forum that it is a hardware problem. I am considering opening it and breaking the flash LED so it is gone
In any case the flash is quite useless as it does not make much difference to the quality of the picture :|
I had this problem as well. I called warranty service and they replaced my device
same here flashlight flashing like a disco
even when the device is off, and this is lame, any solutions?? seems only 1 of the 3 leds does that. please anyone can guide us on this? its a wizard
I too had this problem on one of my wizards. It is the camera flash board itself that is bad, not the main motherboard. I simply removed my flash, it was useless anyways. But now I know if I want to fix it I need to find a broken wizard and harvest its flash board. I was able to test this by putting a known working flash into the phone that was previously giving me problems and it work flawlessly.
To remove the flash:
1. Take off back battery cover.
2. Using a small flathead screwdriver carefully pry off the camera cover, it just clips into place.
3. Carefully pry up black housing around camera flash and camera lens.
4. Remove flash board from black housing.
5. Put it all back together.

Of course, I am not responsible for whatever you do to your phone.

HTC Universal SIM Card is missing

My HTC Universal says the SIM Card cannot be found or is missing, which of course is not true. I have tried with several SIM-Cards, but none of them work better. The error message appears as follows: Sometimes the phone connects to the network, but then suddenly the connection is cut off.
I bought a second-hand device, but before I jump to any conclusions I would like to rule out whether:
-it could be related to a radio upgrade
-it could be related to the SIM-Lock removal
-it could be related to a ROM-Upgrade
I am using Radio 1.18 and maxstegi's ROM 4.7.
Besides, I would like to know where to fix the device. It was originally a T-Mobile MDA Pro, but now that their software isn't any longer installed, they would probably refuse.
Thanks in advance
Michael
I had the same problem with mine. I eventually solved it by playing a hot-air rework blower over the radio chips, It's a bit of a drastic job, but it worked for me.

i had the same problem .. and i tried another solution .. i got a dry magnetic head spray cleaner and i sprayed the whole mother board connectors .. it worked as a start with me and i am waiting if it will remain good or will happen again ..
3 days now and my xda didn't give the sim card message - my problem solved
Great idea. I'll try today!
Sorry..but..for "dry", what do you mean? Is it the isopropyl alcohol based liquid?
i mean dry that it does not leave any traces on sprayed place after a while .. some other magnetic cleaner sprays leaves an oil layer over the sprayed area ..
ask in your location for a magnetic head spray cleaner and i am sure you can found one easily
it is now about 1 week and i had no problems
thanks
hey aymn_louis
I also suffered with sim card problem and got the solutions please check your PMs, sent you the web address to download it, have used it myself, works good.

Hi aym_louis "big mind"!
Yesterday I immediately went to buy the spray "deoxide for contacts" instead of "magnetic heads cleaner". It was not the kind that also protect the contacts, so it doesn't leave the oil layer on them.
Well...I opened the mda pro, sprayed all over the motherboard and waited for 20 mins. I inserted the sim and didn't work....at first!
I tried after some more time, and it worked, and kept working 'till now...thing that never happened before! Maybe it needed more time to deoxidate the mysterious contacts.
Really good idea! You solved a big problem, in a easier and more secure way, compared to the hot hair flow!
Weeel done!
thanks dear .. any time

sorry .. didn't notice your PM . anyhow you've got your problem solved
Yes problem solved
Hey Guys,
I also have this problem for a long time and I'm using another device now..
to summarize:
1. I need a magnetic head cleaner? not contact cleaner?
2. Which chip should I spray? on which side of the MB?
3. Should I go the "hot air blower" route at all?
It's a really annoying problem!
Thanks,
Ariel

I've got the same problem, and I've tried yuor solution but it doesn't work for me.
I've used a dry magnetic head spray cleaner on the motherbord (front and back) but the problem is the same ..Sometimes SIM Card is missing..
I noticed that if the settings of the phone (Band) I force GSM (not Auto) error occurs less frequently..
any Idea?
It worked great!!!
Just tried the dry magnetic head cleaner spray and all I can say is it WORKED GREAT on my Uni, which was displaying that «Invalid or missing SIM card» annoying message!!!
I disassembled the unit completely (this included removing all the inner metallic "shields" fitted to both sides of the mainboard), sprayed the mainboard on both sides repeatedly and quite abundantly and allowed it to dry for an hour.
On the first reboots it kept getting stuck on the 1st splash screen, so I waited for another hour, for it do dry completely.
I then performed a hard reset on the Uni(t).
It simply worked. My SIM card is now recognized again.
I'm on my 4th reboot since I've reassembled it and the OS loads completely, I've reinstalled the software applications I lost after the hard reset and my SIM card keeps being recognized by the Uni and allowing me to make / receive phone calls & text messages.
Thanks a lot for the hint.

congratulation on your WORKING mobile
Hi Guys,
For what it's worth i have exactly the same problem on my G3 device. I used Servisol Video 40 from www.maplin.co.uk which is a tape head/disc drive cleaner, and it says on the can that it "removes tape oxides and dirt". I removed the shields around all the qualcomm chips and covered the MB, let it dry in sunlight (took 10 mins), reassembled and the problem is still exactly the same, i.e. this method DID NOT work.
For those of you who DID get this to work it would be very useful to know EXACTLY what cleaner you used.
It would also be helpful to know how 'permanent' the fix was, and if anyone else has tried what I have and succeeded or failed?
Many thanks for the helpful posts, if I can get this solution to work it would be awesome. If not then it's onto the rework station and who knows what then.
Cheers,
Appy
I am suffering from the exact same problem; can those of you who fixed this horrendous issue by spraying your motherboards, could you please confirm that your devices are still free of that "missing sim card" error. And what brand of spray did you guys use? If at all it makes a difference.
Thank you.
I cannot find anything in stores remotely similar to "dry magnetic heads cleaner spray" if you guys know the brand name of this product or an alternative, please post your replies.
Your help is greatly appreciated!
found contact/head cleaner at the source; sprayed once then tested, it didn't work. Sprayed second time then tested, it didn't work either but managed to keep the phone alive without loosing the sim for a few hours. I guess will be spraying the third time in a few days...
If anyone has any suggestions please feel free to share.

Hermes slide indicator not working

Hi there,
Maybe someone can explain me, where is the hermes's slide indicator (or.. I don't the correct term, sorry for my bad English). My friend gave me his phone, after he was trying to change phone's cover to original htc tytn cover (of course, top part of the case did not fit on that hermes, but bottom case fit's ok). And after he assembled all parts - phone did not recognize when you are sliding the keyboard, and the screen is not turning to landscape position.
And now I want to fix it for myself, ant had tried to search where is that indicator, which 'sees' when you slide the phone. And when I disassembled - I just cant identify that thing. Only one place in my inexperienced eye is suspicious - http://img65.imageshack.us/img65/8708/dscf7321.jpg this place, in other side of LCD, where the hinges(?) is placed. But I can't understand, how its working (I have other HTC TYTN, but it's under warranty, so I cant dissasembly it to try use other parts, o smth..).
So, I would be grateful if someone could lead me to the right road' to fix this problem... if it's possible.
Thanks,
Laimis.
Yes your friend forgot to move the screen orientation magnet from the old case to the new one!! New cases do not have the magnet attached you have to move it from the old case.
See here:

Thank you, Mike!
you were right there is no magnet on the new case, so now I will wait until my friend will send me an old case.

Blackstone's touchscreen

Hey guys! I have a problem with my Blackstone....
After a while of using it my touchscreen does not respond anymore....
It just stopped working. The display works exept the touch....
any help wold be much appreciated...
touchscreen
I have the same problem. Touchscreen do not response anymoore, I tried to reflash the rom, but it did not help.
you probably have the digitalizer broken.
I got this changed once about 1 year ago (under warranty). It seems to be a big issue on our old devices.
If you are out of warranty, it's probably not worth to send it to the service.
You may try yourself following this thread
Sometimes if you paste a tape on the screen and try to separate the 2 layers of the digitalizer pulling the tape slowly, it may work for a while (temporary fix).

Hi guys, I had this problem one year ago. My warranty didnot covered such thing and it was too expensive to repair it, so I have read all forums and found the solution. The problem is indeed in the digitizer however it is not broken just the covering plastic screen seems to be pressed to it and generating a continuous touch so when you touch with the finger nothing happens. There are two solutions to detach the plastic screen from the digitizer - either put tiny plastic card below the screen from the edge or use a duct tape on the screen and pull quickly - this step may need to be repeated several times until the two layers detach.
I have done both processes and it works. With the duct tape it is safer but the problem appears again after some time, with the first approach I don't have the problem anymore.
Hope this will help you.
yeah, I know it's old thread, but could you please elaborate on this .. ?
covering plastic screen - do you mean, the layer that is in front of the digitizer, the one you actually touch ? that stuf is glued hard, I dont see how you could place tiny plastic anything from the edge, that means that you need to unglue it with hot air .. ?
I am having the same non responsive TS problem, but I dont think that it is broken also. only things that could go wrong are ZIF connectors, and the digitizer integrity, which is mostly not the case cause of the firm plastic surrounding it.
please respond, you could use a pic with an arrow to show me cause im in the middle of dissasembly process. tnx

[Q] Water damaged Motorola Defy

My Defy's back panel opened accidentally when submerged in water. So i removed battery and all cards. But since i was out of station i couldn't do anything with the phone. For almost 40 hrs water was there inside my phone. I could see it in between the lcd screen and the outer gorilla glass. Gave the phone to a local repair center. They did something to dry out my phone. Now the phone boots up well, all the function and all the radios too are working.
Problem is,
1) screen shows some signs of water damage
2) Left edge of screen almost the left most 1 cm part does not sense touch (Works sometimes)
3) First capacitive button on the left does not work (works sometimes)
4) Proximity sensor does not work (the area where sensor is located looks empty coz notification LED can be seen from this sensor window. Guess the local repair guy fiddled with it)
So i want to repair all this damage done. Is this damage repairable or should i consider replacing any parts. Would replacing the screen be a good idea? where can i buy this screen and the proximity sensor as well
Thanks for your help in advance.
hello
A friend of my had the same accident and he take his phone to repair an they changed the display and now it is working perfectly...
god luck

Dude since you are in India buying parts has only one solution - ebay ! However, you may try going to Motorola service center and ask them if the parts can be availed! However, if in Delhi you may go to places like Gaffar market. Probably such places exists in your place too.. The local service guy may be able to tell you about it
Thanks a lot. I think I'll replace the touch screen digitizer. That will leave only the proximity sensor to be something about. I dont think we get this sensor as a spare part anywhere.
One more question. Camera shows inverted images in the display. Any fixes for it?

Did you get any solution for the Proximity sensor?
I´ve got the same problem. Seems like it´s on the motherboard and cant be replaced. Is it true?
