[NEWS] Desire 820 wont get android N - Desire 820 General

So as many of us already guessed, This phone and many other phones wont get any more major updates including Android N, as HTC tweeted a day ago, only HTC one m9, One a9 and HTC 10 will get android N
----
Bad thing for us is that SD615 64bit kernel sources arent out and we might not even get custom roms with android N but m7, m8 and e8 and other phones will likely be developers' phones for another year or two

You probably won't have this phone for much longer either. Mine got so hot, the motherboard fried.

nah my phone is working like a beast and I really dont have a reason to change it yet(good speaker, good camera, good android performance, large display with not bad quality) So I guess Im gonna keep it for at least another year.
--------
btw [OFF topic] HTC sense home 8 apk file is on the internet and it works perfect on D820 and there are some good freestyle themes, I actually really like it so if anyone hasnt tried it yet, you'd better do

No Android N, & no Sense 9...
Too much to take on one day...
The support has come to an end it seems...

Is there any official statement or just yours conjectures?

Any news about Desire 820s? Will it get any update? (M or N). Still sitting on 4.4.4.

MM has already rollout to most of the region all over the world! Maybe you have to do a fix to yr phone in order to receive OTA updates!

and also first of all I dont think htc would release android N before the end of 2016 and that's the end of update lifecycle for our phone(and m8) and the other reason is that I thing android N needs more than 2gb of ram and our devices arent gonna support it
but anyway my fingers are crossed

There is no word "only" in this tweet. Read comments below and HTC responses.

Android 2.3 Gingerbread update for Desire Z

Seems the Desire HD and Desire Z would be the first phones at the Desire
series which get an update to Android 2.3 Gingerbread:
A HTC representative confirmed that the phones would be upgrading to Gingerbread during our natter at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, but he wouldn't provide exact dates. We did manage to get HTC's man to say that the first Gingerbread update would be released within a month of the Desire S hitting shop shelves, but then he changed his mind and said it would probably occur within two months.

It is as per claims from HTC during MWC or CES forgot which one. Still, the Desire tops the list on Techradar as best phone out, beating the likes of the iPhone, Samsung and the HD itself, and its their most popular device by far I reckon.

Probably they won't update the old Desire. The DHD will get the same software as the Desire S because they are essentially the same hardware apart from some mild differences.

No it dosent, the desire had dual touch, it can only physically detect one touch, it uses a software algorhytm to work out the location of the 2nd finger, this leads to axis flipping, meaning you cant cross axis's making it useless lol

Desire HD apparently getting theirs OTA now. Surely ours should not be far behind.....Surely?
What it means when ours is released is hopefully rmk40 will release an official virtuous 2.0 rom. It might also move us closer to the point where they release the kernel source and we can start seeing overclocking kernels for Gingerbread sense roms. (and trackpad wake etc)
According to Engadget:
"That just leaves the Desire Z and original Desire, both of which should be joining the party by the end of June. "
So more or less two months later. No matter, maybe they will make even more fixes and changes for us. (Maybe a version of Sense 3.0 for our "weaker" phones - but I doubt that)

The only reason they are saying end of June, is because HTC said it would happen by end of Q2. So it can happen anytime between now and the end of June.

Given the track record with everyone involved regarding prompt releases (Google, T-Mobile), it'll be at least November before it's actually available. How many months were us old Dream users waiting on Cupcake? Donut? Eclair (which turned out to be vaporware for the Dream)?

there is no way it will be november since we already have a leaked version for the stock gingerbread rom and it seems to work perfect... i dont see a reason for it taken to long to be released.

I ask from htc and give a exact answer!
please see the attach picture!!

This makes sense, because all big updates had been around november / december for desire hd. Unfortunately. So rooting and flashing custom roms is only alternative...

By that time I wonder most DHD users have switched to new device having ICS preinstalled. Anyway DHD can get ICS update is a bonus of this 2 years old device. ICS is a little bit too slow to push out. Most software developers have still need more time to release software compatible to ICS.

Don't worry about that, the internet is a huge vortex of fake celebrity nude pictures, so at least one person is going to having suspicion about the authenticity of your screenshot. I don't think he meant any offence. Now, back on topic. I'm really looking forward to this update, hopefully it will include the new, 40% faster, adreno drives. The lack of developers have come as a shock to he DHD community over the last few days, due to everyone migrating to the HTC 1x. I will start developing for our humble device when this is released. It makes all of our lives easier, I wont have to worry about the camera bug and everything will be working smoothly. I think the wait is worth it guys and gals, just remember, patients is a virtue.

The thing is really interesting...and sad!
In example: i was a galaxy s (sold because i LOVE sense) user and the developers activity around a device older than desire hd was/is totally different: is like if the interest around that device will never die.
I know i'm a bit off topic, but i like to understand this.
Why, by you DHD users, we are left alone by developers?
There is an huge escape from desire hd due to which reason??

you are the second user talking about a beta test build here....I think there is a very selective "secret" closed beta test....which should not be discussed or spoiled here, but you are doing instead....pretty confused about the situation....
anyway, if this is true it confirms what I just said 2 days ago about MM update. HTC is having so much issues with this update, that a leak would be completely bad, and will drop users hope instead of hype them

The fact that there are beta tests isn't a "secret" at all. You can always sign up at HTC Preview (not only for the M9). Nevertheless you're not allowed to talk about anything related to beta builds since you have to sign a NDA beforehand.
Edit: I didn't sign up at HTC Preview and am not interest in doing so in the future so I guess this post cannot breach a NDA I never accepted.
