Why not eh? The nexus one has gingerbread already, the desire has very similar specs Also the desire just has a different CPU and GPU to the HD, they're the main differences

It is as per claims from HTC during MWC or CES forgot which one. Still, the Desire tops the list on Techradar as best phone out, beating the likes of the iPhone, Samsung and the HD itself, and its their most popular device by far I reckon.

Probably they won't update the old Desire. The DHD will get the same software as the Desire S because they are essentially the same hardware apart from some mild differences.

No it dosent, the desire had dual touch, it can only physically detect one touch, it uses a software algorhytm to work out the location of the 2nd finger, this leads to axis flipping, meaning you cant cross axis's making it useless lol

What are the differences between the new legend and the old, silver one?
If the black one will be shipped with 2.2 Froyo, does it means that the silver one will receive the update soon?
FroYo is coming to the standard Legend.
Only difference from what we've been told thus far is the black ali shell.

I find your lack of faith disturbing.
Honestly I don't see FroYo coming to the HTC Legend, and even if it was then I can you imagine how long we'd have to wait for Gingerbread.
If it's done on the black which for all purposes has been shown as nothing more than a painted Legend with Froyo installed stock. So that show's they've already done the work of making it work so all they need to do is release it...unless there is something substaintially different in the versions.
It is cooler. Nuff said. If it is released with Froyo our Legends will get it too.

Ah, but Mark Moons has confirmed on Twitter that they are working on FroYo for the Legend, stating that we must be patient - there's only one reason existing Legend owners need to be patient
Besides, assumption is the mother of all f-up's, which I am good at
Even if the Black Legend got FroYo and there was no OTA, by hook or by crook we'd get it eventually
i didnt really think there was much of a difference :/ guess i missed something lol

Gingerbread'll never happen. Not a chance. HTC have just released 2 new, more powerful, phones. Those will get Gingerbread. The Desire might, if the N1 does. The Legend? Nah.
They have also just releases 2 near identical phones to the Legend spec.
The HTC Aria and the HTC Gratia both seemingly MSM7227 based, the same as the Legend.

I love my Vibrant....just remember the G2 is hardware locked for rooting. There are some sweet roms for the Vibrant. And if you're hot for Froyo....there's a rom for that. The main issue is the Gps still has a few kinks to be worked out....other than that you'd have to pry it from my cold dead hands.

I would and am waiting to see what is offered during Q1 of 2011... G2 may be "locked" but it's not hardware, besides the Vibrant still hasn't seen a stable 1.4GHz OC.

It hasn't been confirmed that it will remain unrootable. Last thing I read cyanogen and crew were working on it and have said it will be difficult but they will find a way just like they have with other pita phones like ours.
Yeah I just checked the HTC Vision dev forums and they already have a one-click temp root, so I imagine a full root wouldn't be far off.

Why are you selling it?its a bad ass phone. My wife has 1 and she loves hers. 2.2 update will be soon on it so anything you get today or tomorrow will have 2.2 on it. What's the point? Seems the Desire HD and Desire Z would be the first phones at the Desire
series which get an update to Android 2.3 Gingerbread:
A HTC representative confirmed that the phones would be upgrading to Gingerbread during our natter at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, but he wouldn't provide exact dates. We did manage to get HTC's man to say that the first Gingerbread update would be released within a month of the Desire S hitting shop shelves, but then he changed his mind and said it would probably occur within two months.

That would make sense (no pun intended ). After all the two new flagship products by Sprint are the Nexus S and EVO 3D so they'll want to push Gingerbread as a feature on those phones before they upgrade the Shift. I doubt they'll update the original EVO though. But in the mean time there's always CM7 and the other 3rd party Gingerbread ROMs. :3

I'm pretty sure the EVO 3D will become the new flagship product when its released this summer and over shadow the popularity of the original EVO. Even if the whole 3D thing doesn't take off its still a superior design and you can bet Sprint will be pushing that fact.

There's no way that the EVO or EVO Shift won't receive @ least the next 2 O/S updates. The backlash that would result if it doesn't would be ridiculous, even by Sprint standards.

I'm pretty sure the Shift will get the next update or 2 as it came out recently. The EVO has been around a while though and the EVO 3D looks as if its been purposely designed to be the original EVO's successor. From a business standpoint it doesn't make sense to continue long-term support for a device that has been replaced. Its with that in mind that I say I doubt the EVO will get Gingerbread.

I contacted HTC to ask if we will get the 2.3 update:
Will the HTC Legend receive the Android 2.3 update?
HTC replied with the following:
Thank you for contacting HTC.
No, the HTC Legend will not be receiving the Gingerbread update. Android 2.3
I noticed that a lot of people were wondering if we were going to get Android 2.3 or HTC Sense 3.0, so I thought I'd contact them myself.
I hope this clears up any mess

No, basically HTC have lied once again, to the Desire owners this time. Tbh I've lost all faith in HTC, I quite like my Legend still now that it is rooted, but next year when my contract runs out I'll get a different Android phone, possibly a Samsung or a Google Nexus phone depending on what's around at the time.
Everyone seems to be forgetting about htc developer site, im pretty sure its going to be quite like Android Source with teh ability to build from source like Cyanogenmod?!

Yeah, they were being lazy (or deceiving) when they said INITIALLY that the Desire was not receiving Gingerbread. Two days later, they must have realized this or someone must've pointed out their lie by analyzing specs on their current generation phones, because they decided to pump Desire with Gingerbread once more.
Stupidity, stupidity.

I personally love the speed of it. But in my opinion, I think that the stable version isn't exactly stable. I keep getting random reboots and right now, my Messages Application won't open :/
And that's one reason why I sold my Legend to my brother, little or no updates in the OS version from HTC.
I prefer sense to be honest, Dont like any launcher apart from rosie as nothing compares to it!
