Is it charging fine through the wall charger?
BTW, when you connect your phone to the PC via USB, you will need to enable MTP mode, by dropping down the notification bar and tapping on the connection mode. By default, it is Charging.

If it is charging fine, then it wouldn't be any problem with the port. You will need appropriate drivers for ADB and fastboot to work.
While your phone is connected to the PC via USB, bring down the notification drawer. Share a screenshot of that.

There's nothing to show. Even when I toggle the Adb in settings, it doesn't show up when plug to my computer. There's no sound, I don't think it sees it at all I had Adb working on both computers. Working on my note 5. Suddenly it is not working for my Nexus smh

I understand. But it's better to get it fixed if there's an hardware issue. At least it wouldn't cost anything, when under warranty.

Perhaps you could post a screen shot of both your developer options while in settings, and a screen capture of your computer's device manager while your phone is plugged into the USB port.
#WhiteUIsMustDie, #EndDarkAppOppression

It could be many things really. Making sure motherboard/OEM drivers are current. Switching ports on PC itself. Bad cable. I assume you are using the supplied data cable as the charging one is USB C to USB C. Unless you are in fact using the C connector on your PC. If so I would switch to A. I have ran into problems. Sometimes drivers for the same chip set from other manufacturers will work to. Also have you installed the Android SDK along with the Android USB drivers?

I am having the exact same issue with my Nexus 6P. Did you ever figured out the problem? I can't get any computer to recognize it as an ADB device.

I noticed something and wanted to see if you have the same issue. In the Battery settings menu, when you plug your phone into the USB port, does it say Charging over USB and then switch to Charging on AC 5 seconds later? My Nexus 4 always stays as Charging over USB so I think there is something to this.

Hello everyone I have exact the same issue like you do guys but mine is a bit different luckly i was stupid enough to wipe off without a backup my system with twrp and my phone now has twrp but nothing can see my phone tryed 1pc 5 different ports and 3 laptops with no results at all ,also tryed acces via otg cable C. still no luck if you found a solution which is software based then please let me know otherwise i have to get my phone to a service because i think its hardware based problem like the bottom of my phone where i plug the charger might be broken (only charging no device found not even in device manager .

[Q] Advise if I have a brick on hand

I wanted to ask the experts here before I move forward on getting another phone.
This was a retarded move on my part but I installed a T-mobile Vibrant froyo 2.2 onto my Verizon Fascinate... (I know, you're wondering how this could have happened.. it had to do with a un-helpful friends advice/assistance.)
I used a little package deal of files installed through Odin.

Warning stated: THIS WILL WIPE ANY DATA ON YOUR DEVICE, IT WILL REPLACE YOUR BASEBAND, KERNEL, RECOVERY AND OS.
The phone starts up fine and I can get apps and surf on my wireless without issue.
The problems which lead me to believe my phone is bricked from ever going back to Verizon fascinate froyos rom is a few major issues.
1.) If the phone is powered on, anytime I plug in the USB cable to the PC or charger, the phone goes black and the power turns off. I cannot get the phone to turn on at all with the USB cable plugged in.
2.) The phone will not go into download (triangle) mode regardless of the button combos pressed.
3.) I tried to use the rom installer on the clockwork app but when the phone reboots it gets stuck at startup in the system recovery. The volume buttons will not allow me to select anything.

Well, if everyone determines the phone is bricked.. give me some ideas on how to swap it out for a replacement. This one is a VZW certified-preowned phone. 14 day return policy which I just got it. If a rep was to turn it on, they will see it says T-mobile Vibrant! ouch..
That pit file looks a lot like a Vibrant Odin file.....you should reflash Odin with some DL09 Odin files. I think you can save your phone at this point.
Edit: didn't see that you can't access download mode. Thats a problem.

Just to verify..when you try to go into download mode you have your battery out of the phone and you plug the usb cable into your phone while holding volume down right?
SCH-I500 - Froyo DL30/Matted Bluebread
if our button combo for download mode doesnt work, I would look into what you have to do for the vibrant, since you flashed their kernel it might respond to whatever you have to press for that.
Vibrant download mode - plug in USB, hold vol up + vol down and press power
http://www.ithinkdiff.com/how-to-access-download-and-recovery-mode-in-samsung-vibrant/
can you put our CWM as update.zip on there and have it load that? If you can get in CWM there is a download mode boot.
Just thinking out loud of ideas, even if its far off, its something to try before having to pay $500
Good call. Hopefully you can get your phone into download mode brother. Wondering if maybe there is an app to reboot into download mode. I know before we had power options I had used anreboot to reboot into recovery but idk about download mode. also I wonder if you'll need different drivers or if the fascinate drivers will work (I've forgotten if they are general galaxy s drivers or application specific)

Wow! I bet your friend didn't do this to his/her phone, right? Hope things work out for you. In the future use XDA and look up procedures and ASK QUESTIONS like your doing now.

Well you flashed Vibrant to the phone...vibrant has to have their item way to flash...like software such as Odin....possibly get the software compatible for Vibrant....read up on how to get to that software download mode....and flash back to DL09?????????

Good news and bad news. My phone work was cut short due to the battery dying. Remember how I mentioned when the USB is plugged in the phone turns off? Well it also prevents the phone from charging. It went from soft brick to true BRICK! Can we coin that term? True brick haha
With that being said, I can send it back under warranty and get a replacement since it will not turn on or charge and has no water damage.
BUT before I do this, I will give the phone to my EXPERIENCED friend who I should have spoke to from the start. He owns a vibrant running froyo 2.2 with a 2.3 visual overlay. His battery should swap with mine. He will give it a good comb over to make a last ditch effort before I call it in. I do hope we can revert it back for my sake but also to share this info with all of you.
Have you attempted to use a USB jig to get into download mode? That method is usually foolproof, from what I've heard. You can either buy one for a few bucks, or there's also video instructions available on how to make your own.
THAT is a great idea about using the USB jig. I see the tutorial on xda to make one. Talk about going the distance to recover a brick, that's awesome! I'll see if I can manage to incorporate this.
Good luck man!
Gotta love friends advice!! I would bet it was expecting the button configuration for the vibrant to go into download mode. Although it wasnt the best idea I doubt its really bricked. Good Luck!!

... or, maybe they will just pop in a fresh battery, and see the damage you have caused? I know that's what I would do if I were a VZW rep and you brought me a phone that did not turn on.

this is probably your best option, though I have not used it myself.
some youtube videos to educate yourself:

Report is in. It's bricked or at least bricked beyond our abilities to fix it.
The reason the phone cannot be fixed is because the volume buttons do not work in the samsung recovery utilities screen. Which means you are unable to select the different options to reinstall package etc.
The second issue is due to the USB software and charging parameters of the phone being changed, it cuts the phone power off anytime a USB cable is connected regardless of JIG or not. My friend explained it turns the phone power off to protect the battery from overcharging. The battery on the vibrant and fascinate do work when plugged into each phone but they are different and charge differently. The fascinate battery will not charge when plugged into a vibrant phone.
A verizon agent explained (off the record) if you take the phone into a local shop they WILL send you packing because they'll know you messed it up. If you send it in, they'll still know you messed it up but as long as there is no physical damage or water damage, the phone gets sent back to samsung which in turn satisfies verizon on their end. This in turn gets you a no charge replacement depending on your phone still being in warranty range. This is what I've been told but as you know in life, there is no guarantees.
Most importantly, thank you again for everyones suggestions and input!! When I get a replacement I will have to get someone to baby me through the root process and DL30 install
You are welcome brother. Glad you can at least get a new phone!

Good news
please keep in your mind that battery and also the charger is very important for smartphones
Well couldn't deal with the HD7 anymore, sold it and found a deal on a Samsung Focus (< $150). Yes i know, no 3G on Tmobile (or Simple Mobile) only EDGE, but it's much lighter, much better battery life and the screen is very nice. Unlocked and popped in my Simple Mobile SIM. This will tide me over till the new devices come out in the fall.

Current US T-Mobile HD7 ROM
I have a T-Mobile US HD7 that has been upgraded to the 7.5 version through Zune.
I want to try some of the new ROMs that are out that have Internet Sharing files.
I want to be able to go back to the version of ROM that is currently on my phone.
Does this build allow me to do that?
If I have problems with some of these other ROMs; I want to be able to get back to stock ROM.

- Screen is very dark from looking from top and down (portrait mode) (HARDWARE ISSUE)
- Doing adb reboot bootloader or adb reboot fastboot bricks the device.

It's not exactly a hardware bug it's just the way the hardware is. Also you should add in red letters or something that doing adb reboot bootloader or adb reboot fastboot bricks the device. And you should put those drivers someone found and give credits for it too.
Hi
So I got my girlfriend the Memo Pad 7, and encountered a few problems:
- Sleep Of Death: the device refused to wake up from standby a few times. had her adjust sleep timer to 10 mins atm. this is on latest update.
- Offline charging: the device reached 0% battery and shut down. when we tried charging it - it powered on - completely into main screen, no big battery logo and "off" charging. this is after a few times of shutdown and re-connecting the charger in order to specifically enter offline charging.
Apart from this, the tab is very nice and a good value for money imo. I have the Nexus 7 and I LOVE it. Asus products are top-notch. :good:

I haven't see any of these. Try doing a factory reset. If it doesn't help then take it under warranty and explain your problems. They will either fix them, or give you a new one.

ASUS memo pad 7 battery problem.
Good morning:
First I ask since no apologies if this topic goes here, if not please move it to an administrator.
My problem is this:
I have a memo pad ASUS Tablet 7. Apparently battery has run out.
When I attempt to charge a battery is displayed red identical to the image. (photo attached)
When I try to turn it on the same image appears on the battery. (photo attached)
I left it overnight charging it but still leave the same image. (photo attached)
Is not it because of a problem? Would you happened to anyone? How I can fix it?
Thank you very much.
Regards and apologies.
This is the correct place more or less.
Maybe your usb cable does not fit correctly (is broken)
try another one if you have (plug it into the charger)
I saw the same issue in the store where I bought mine. on the demo tablet they had there.
changing the usb cable worked.
Re: [Asus MeMo Pad 7] Roms, Rooting, Bugs, General
Anyone here use a case specifically made for memo pad 7? Care to share the photos?

Hey,
I've had the same problem as you. I think the offline charging does not work as well on your unit, however the way i fixed it was charging it enough just so I was able to boot it up and then charging the rest when its powered.

I didn't find one so I got myself a universal like case.. And I also bought a pouch. If there is any official case for MeMoPad 7, that would be reall grea!
Asus memo pad 7
Thank you very much for the answers.
@ crazykiddo I tried several USB cables and chargers. I have not had any results.
@ jayyenn I did not understand very well your answer. Do I have to turn it on? How have you solved?
Still not working. Help please.
Again thank you very much to all.

There are official ones, you can find them on the ASUS website. Also I think that a nexus 7 one fits, but I'm not sure are all ports accessible.

Try using AC power instead of USB and insert it directly in the wall socket and leave it off. If you used AC then try with USB but leave it off at least 20 minutes and then try to power it up. If that fails you *could* try going to download mode using power + vol up and vol down and then charge it with AC and then press the reset button. I don't recommend this,do it only as a last resort. If you are unable to take it from download mode then you should go to service.

need your help guys
Hi everyone
My me 172 works very well but when I run games on it ,they start to lag and the lag is repeated
I wonder if you have the same problem or not .is it related to the version of my android? For example when I run jetpack joyride
It is really difficult to play it (laggy).I have tried temple run and lane splitter with the same problem
Another problem is about the apps .I cannot move any of them
To my SD card. Do you know a solution to this problem?
As far as I know I have to root my device to do so.but
I don't know how to do it.
The last thing is about ubunto which has enabled nexus 7 users
To install its operating system on their devices giving them
Step by step information ,is it possible for us to do the same thing
Thanks

[Q] How to access files on damaged Razr M

I have a Razr M with a broken screen. The damage is to the upper left hand corner. The phone actually worked for several days like this, then just stopped. I can not tell what mode it's in or anything at this point. When I plug it in to charge, the green LED lights for a few seconds then goes out. Not sure if this is normal, as this was my sons phone and I never used it. Of course my son doesn't know either. Go figure. The phone was in an Otterbox (Defender Series) when it experianced a crushing force....
The issue is that I need to get his personal info and pictures off the phone before we send it back. (We had insurance).
So the question is:
How can I tell if the phone turned on. (We've pressed so many buttons etc...)
Is there a way to reset the phone to restart, so we can be sure it's on.
How can I access the files? (Is there a keystroke to power it up in USB mode?
The phone is the Razr M (XT907) from Verizon. I have down loaded and installed the motorola drivers on my PC, but no luck there. I'm no expert, but the damage seems really limited to the upper left hand corner, front and back side. I have watched several Youtube video's and don't believe anything super critial is located there, just the rear speaker on back and LED on front. The glass has broken (cracked) further down a bit, and I can see inside the phone just a little. The inner structure (plastic with the LED inside for thoise famliar with the insides) is mint.
ANY help would be appreciated. Thank you!

I would plug the charger for a while maybe like ½-1 hour the green light coming on then off is a sign that the phone recognizes its getting power then started to charge... after some time on the charger take it off hold down both the power + volume down for 10-15 seconds I'd give it a minute or so then plug it in to the USB of your PC ... if all is well you should get the screen pop and be able to access the pictures... as far as contacts and what not your Sol.... you should be able to reset it via stock recovery without seeing it if you know where each selection is but I couldn't tell you as its been way to long since I've had the stock recovery... hope it helps good luck

Thats what i thought. It seems to me that the glass/ touchscreen is all thats damaged. Unfortunatly this phone was never hooked to a PC in it's short 3 month life. I don't know if it's even set up for USB or what the default settings are.
I do know my son had a pattern lock screen. I wonder if this affects it's ability to connect via USB assuming it's on and powered up.

I did this and still nothing. My PC acts like it's not even there. I just get the green light for few seconds then nothing. The phone should be charged as I left it all night on the charger, but I plugged it in for about 30 minutes then unplugged and tried this. Nothing. Odd how it was working just fine 2 days ago with the same damage. Of course two days ago my son didn't ask me to back anything up either. Lesson learned I guess.
This was one reason I didn't like this phone. If my phone locks up, I can pull the battery. Then I KNOW its off. I can't tell what state this phone is in or even if I can shut it down or access anything with damged screen being blank. If the above method should force it to pop up as a USB drive, then I'm afraid something else has fried. I have until tommorrow or so to try anything else.

This might go without saying, but just in case... you need to make sure you have Motorola's device drivers installed on your computer. You can find them here: https://motorola-global-portal.custhelp.com/app/answers/prod_answer_detail/a_id/89608/p/30,6720,8577

Yep, did that first thing last night.
I don't believe the phone is set up for USB, of course I cant access it now..
I believe the PC driver software installed OK.
If the PC doesn't recognize it, you're not even booting. If it wasn't set up for USB, the computer would see it but not be able to access anything. Odd, because you should be able to.
So what happened before it went dead? Did you leave it on and let it go dead?
If not, your circuit board may be broken, in which case you're SOL

here's a shot in the dark:
there is an app called "Plan B" on the google play store. the app was designed for folks to install it on their device AFTER the phone went missing (this is assuming, of course, that the phone is turned on and is able to send/receive data). from this app, I think you can back up your contacts, pictures, etc. so, see if you can turn the phone on (you should see the green LED light up) by pressing and holding the power button for 3 seconds. then, via your PC, go to the google play store (sign into whose ever account was setup with google), and install Plan B (or lookout). I think google device manager may do the same thing, but that could require you to go into the phone and adjust the settings.
going forward, I would advise folks to use google as their ONLY source for contacts - that way, when they change phones, reset devices, flash, etc., all of that information will download automatically.
regarding pics/vids, I would suggest to make sure that folks set their camera to save to the external SD card - that way, all you need to do is pop out the sd card, and all of them will be saved there. or, you can upload them to picasa web album (google's online photo/video storage).
hope this helps, and good luck.

Don't know. It's my sons phone, I knew it was broken, but I also saw that it was working. He never mentionad a word about storing stuffon his internal memory as opposed to the SD card. It was only after it stopped working did he say anything about it.
I'm real curiuous now, had he had extremely private info on there, passwords to bank accounts, credit card info etc... how would aperson be sure when you send a phone back it doesn't get recyled, repaired? I know they would wipe it clean, but I also know for a fact that anyone in this type of industry will look around first before wipingh it. Do bad I cant destroy the phone further to avoid it being even considered for repair and not just the incinerator. :silly:

That shouldn't be an issue. Assuming they can get it booted, they'll probably go to recovery to check for root. They don't need to boot it all the way. Chances are the insides of the phone might be reused, but there's not much that you can do about that unless you want to just buy a new one...

i really would not worry about that. my banking app does not store my password on it, and this phone is not compatible with google wallet. also, when they get these devices, the first thing they do (I would imagine) is to do a complete factory reset. given that the phone is damaged, there is really nothing that they can do.
a new thought though - I think there is an app called airdroid that allows you to view your phone's screen on your computer. see if that works.

Used iCareFone for WhatsApp Transfer to transfer chats from my old phone (iPhone) to my new phone (OnePlus) and now the "Google" settings item appears weird.
I think that's how to fix it ... Is it really necessary to restore?
Or after the arrival of the update on Android 12 all should be normal?

I've been having that issue as well, since before the update. Freaked me out at first because I rebooted like 20+ times and it still had no IMEI, SIM or WiFi. Finally I decided to reboot it via holding the power button down long enough to force a shutdown that way, upon restarting I had WiFi and mobile service immedately.
Randomly ever since my SIM remains undetected for about 30 seconds and eventually kicks in but WiFi doesn't.
Holding the power button down long enough to force shutdown seems to always fix it for me.
Next time it happens, if it happens, give that a try.

Very interesting. I have attempted this method but unfortunately have not had the same result as you. I've now at this point lost all ability to detect ANY sim card, and am actually in the process of taking the phone apart to inspect the pins themselves, even though the scratch marks are consistent and it appears as though they are getting a good solid contact. Wish me luck!

Do you have an IMEI still? First time it happened to me and I rebooted 10+ times it didn't have IMEI at all. And I doubt it's a pin issue, I never eject my sim card tray and if you haven't been messing with it then it can't have gotten damaged

You don't need to unlock sim to unlock bootloader, there is a modified msm tool you can use. What's different is that the boot.img doesn't work which allows you to do the critical unlock then flash the working stock boot.img
My advice though, use the older one with the crossed out links. The newest one causes device to identify as a 7T. The older one works just as good and identifies as hotdogg/hd1925 properly.

If you meant SIM unlock then no. There is literally no way around that. There was a guy who was doing unlocks if you were in the service for as little as 3 days but the forum has been "temporarily" shutdown for 3 months now.

Yea i've been following for about a year but i'm not one to give up lol. Theres another guy who made a tool that uses your IMEI and it generates the oneplus token, I've actually gotten it to work for ten minutes but forgot what I was doing in the process. I'm searching now again out of bordom but I believe it was something it unlocked in the factory test mode that manually bypassed the t-mobile oem lock as though we were a technician, but It has been a while and i could have missunderstood. I am new to rooting but feel like I have learned this device down to its bones at this point. Thank's Ubuntu-In-Termux for a great fake root.
