Used iCareFone for WhatsApp Transfer to transfer chats from my old phone (iPhone) to my new phone (OnePlus) and now the "Google" settings item appears weird.
I think that's how to fix it ... Is it really necessary to restore?
Or after the arrival of the update on Android 12 all should be normal?
Mine is the same. Google must want to differentiate themselves I guess

I've been having that issue as well, since before the update. Freaked me out at first because I rebooted like 20+ times and it still had no IMEI, SIM or WiFi. Finally I decided to reboot it via holding the power button down long enough to force a shutdown that way, upon restarting I had WiFi and mobile service immedately.
Randomly ever since my SIM remains undetected for about 30 seconds and eventually kicks in but WiFi doesn't.
Holding the power button down long enough to force shutdown seems to always fix it for me.
Next time it happens, if it happens, give that a try.

Very interesting. I have attempted this method but unfortunately have not had the same result as you. I've now at this point lost all ability to detect ANY sim card, and am actually in the process of taking the phone apart to inspect the pins themselves, even though the scratch marks are consistent and it appears as though they are getting a good solid contact. Wish me luck!

Do you have an IMEI still? First time it happened to me and I rebooted 10+ times it didn't have IMEI at all. And I doubt it's a pin issue, I never eject my sim card tray and if you haven't been messing with it then it can't have gotten damaged

You don't need to unlock sim to unlock bootloader, there is a modified msm tool you can use. What's different is that the boot.img doesn't work which allows you to do the critical unlock then flash the working stock boot.img
My advice though, use the older one with the crossed out links. The newest one causes device to identify as a 7T. The older one works just as good and identifies as hotdogg/hd1925 properly.

If you meant SIM unlock then no. There is literally no way around that. There was a guy who was doing unlocks if you were in the service for as little as 3 days but the forum has been "temporarily" shutdown for 3 months now.

Yea i've been following for about a year but i'm not one to give up lol. Theres another guy who made a tool that uses your IMEI and it generates the oneplus token, I've actually gotten it to work for ten minutes but forgot what I was doing in the process. I'm searching now again out of bordom but I believe it was something it unlocked in the factory test mode that manually bypassed the t-mobile oem lock as though we were a technician, but It has been a while and i could have missunderstood. I am new to rooting but feel like I have learned this device down to its bones at this point. Thank's Ubuntu-In-Termux for a great fake root.

How do I go to the non rooted one so I can hard resest this phone?
I tried volume down, and I get the same error when I press home to get to the recovery.
Send+Menu+End is a hard reset & simply restarts the phone & resets the hardware on the phone.
A factory reset is Home+Back+END.
I did the hard reset, but still there is no service!
Pull the battery for a few minutes. If that doesn't work, try the factory reset. And if that doesn't work, reflash the RUU 1.56.

Woops by hard reset I meant factory. Trying leaving the battery out.
Battery out for 9 minutes, turned on still no signal.
This surprised me its PRL is 27392, any way I can do an update without having a connection?
I've never seen a PRL like that. All I've ever seen was 60657, 60658 & 60659. Your mom does have a CDMA Hero, right?

My thoughts where the same, and yes it is a chinless CDMA hero running sprint just like my other 3 heros. I've never done a PRL update on this 1 yet, and it was working fine earlier I just picked it up to look at it and there was no signal.
When I checked the PRL I wondered WTH was wrong with 1.
At this point I would just reflash it with RUU 1.56.
And for the doubters here's the proof

Well, that's a PRL for an EVDO device (not the one for the Hero, though).
I did a quick bit of research, and found this piece at SprintUsers.com (http://www.sprintusers.com/forum/showthread.php?t=161707)
Note: The article is a bit outdated, but the version numbers may still be true
What does my PRL version Number mean?
EVDO Phones have support for PRL's beginning in 20xxx and 606xxx
Current Version for the 20xxx series is 20231, the roaming icon is shown with the letter "R". Current for 606xxx is 60612. Add's support for new roaming partners being added in the 08-09 years. Easier to pickup CDMA and roaming partner networks in Sioux Falls, SD, Watertown, SD, Brookings, SD, and Sioux City, IA .

Unless the wrong file was pushed to your phone OTA, I'm not sure how you ended up like that.
I would go with the recommendation of the forum users and reflash using the 1.56 RUU. If you need the file, click on The Darktremor name in my signature and you'll find it there (or it's in the wiki)

When I run the RUU it won't pick up the phone should it be mounted I tried both and no luck? I've never gotten HTC sync to work with any of my phones.
Try this
MENU>SETTINGS>WIRELESS CONTROLS AND SEE IF MOBILE NETWORK SHOWS A CHECK MARK AND CONNECTED.
From the pic that may be your problem.
Also check your nam ( MENU>SETTINGS>WIRELESS CONTOLS>MOBILE NETWORK SETTINGS>SWITCH NAM)and see what that does. I switched mine to 2 and i get a prl of 04085. Switched back to nam1 and got 60659 back.

Tried that my PRL changes to 04085 on NAM 2 but on NAM 1 it goes back to the 27 one.
this happened to my sisters phone too. What i did was go into MENU>SETTINGS>WIRELESS CONTOLS>MOBILE NETWORK SETTINGS>ROAMING and changed it from Sprint Only to Automatic. This gave her some signal and then I was able to do a PRL update on her phone. Which brought it back to normal.
I was on the phone with T-Mobile and the woman on the other end either had no idea what I was talking about or, she really did. Her probing questions were perfect and she understood everything I was saying...but the only thing she could think of doing was stripping down the phone, have just the battery, and then press and hold VOL UP+DOWN and Power till the Samsung Vibrant screen came on.
I would have a picture for you, but looks like the forum doesn't allow 'new' members to post. Too bad lurker time can;t be counted toward any of it.
Anyway, the best description of what on my screen:
It has a cellphone on the left, a computer on the right, connecting dots and an orange triangle with an exclamation point. It's all int he middle of the screen.
Best part of this is: I did nothing to the phone. i only downloaded some games and a backup program I can't remember the name. Phone was still locked. I'm not venturing into doing anything like that till i have the money to buy another in a worst case scenario.
So...any ideas?
Add insurance in case you mess anything up. You have 14 days...
That doesn't sound like it's bricked but you didn't tell us anything...
That's the recovery screen, but I'm not sure what you are trying to accomplish...
try to reboot the phone into recovery mode and wipe the phone.
I've tried rebooting to recovery mode.
As for not telling the forum anythng; I'm sorry. I left one detail out:
I downloaded a free application, it's a backup program. I don't remember the name of it (this is my first droid phone, big step up from your standard flip phone with a 6 color screen). I left it running a backup of all the photos and 3gp videos I put on the SD card. Fell asleep, woke up 6 hours later....
BOOM.
I did tell you everything, as in I have no desire to hack/crack/jailbreak/spook/circumvent/customer-os/firmware-flash this phone. I only wanted to charge it after playing with it for a while.
I've tried several of the volume button and power button resets, with/without SD card and SIM. I even tried doing it without the battery in the phone plugged into the USB port.
6 hours of internet browseing and reading and trying these different things, and still nowhere close to an answer form T-Mobile than I need the phone replaced.
I can't easily do it, because I have to send the phone in, wait for a 'credit' to hit my account and order another phone, all the while my service is going to stay active because I am on a Flexpay account.
I love the phone. But it's this kind of thing that has made e stay with your standard, low-tech flip phone from Tracfone. This wouldn't be such a big headache of the cellular antenna in that Tracfone was working. It's lasted me almost 4 years.
Anyway. Is there a program that forces a connection to the phone, kinda says "HEY! you are connected to a computer, now do your stuff!"??
Is there a button combination to make it look for a recovery image ont he SD card like when I would flash my OLD Dell Axim X50??? Noone seems to know alot about this phone yet.

Sounds like you were in some sort of recovery mode. That more closely resembles the default Android recovery.
Nope.
It has a white icon of a cellphone pn the left, 2 dots, a orange triangle with an exclamation point, 2 dots and another icon that kinda looks like a computer.
Breaking forum rules, but whatever:

YAY! It worked. Just add a colon after http and get rid of the spaces.
Of course you know that if this we're happening to you on postpaid, they'd swap your phones out with no inbetween phone time. Your local T-Mobile store might also have loaner phone for you.
probably a cheap flip phone. I was forced to get Flexpay. I guess the last 7 years f ontime, in-full payments to anything hasn't fixed my credit at all. That would explain Verizon's want of a $400 security deposit.
So... I've been doing some research. If Odin can be used to reflash the stock firmwares onto the phone...and if this phone uses an SD card (only say this because windows recognized the internal storage as an SD card) and if one of the other Samsung Android phones when taken apart , had a SD slot for the internal storage (looks like you can actually easily replace the SD card) then what if I took apart the phone, removed the SD card and formated and partitioned it on my computer through my card reader...
These are all just educated guesses. I mean... it looks like my phone has no idea what to do because maybe the SD card is bad or something, unbeknownst to me, reformatted the card improperly.
I posed this same question to Samsung and have yet to hear from them.
What do you guys think? Anyone actually crack open their phones yet?
It seems to me that your options are limited.
I'd say you should root it and see if that gives you more options, but I don't know how feasible that will be for you to do at present.
Can't root a phone that's not booting up to recovery or being seen by a computer
Just received info from Samsung:
Yeah, it looks like the phone needs to be re-flashed or replaced. Head to your local T-Mobile Store or call them up."
So Samsung isn't willing to let go of any other information on this or even extrapolate on the idea of reflashing.
Again, it looks like there is no internal storage with a bootloader to tell the phone what to do.
i see 1 solution
when i bought my vibrant they told me i have 14 days to return or exchange the phone if there is any issues with it the phone came out on the 15th i think so you still have 6 days to take it in show them the problem and they can swap you out with a new vibrant
bricked my g1
When i got my first g1, I rooted it and tried to flash a rom. I bricked it! I called Tmo,I said it froze and wouldn't boot up. They walked me through troubleshooting(of course nothing worked) and said it was software and sent me a brand new one it was only 2 wks old. Maybe an idea for ya.
If you are with in your return period(30 days California, 14 everywhere else) I would take it back and get a new one instead of trying to fix it.
Why trying to fix it yourself? Bring it back to a t-mobile store and exchange for a new one.

I've bricked my G1 few times. t-mobile has always exchange it for me during the first year.
i know what your phone has theres a cure but you will most likely have to root it then return it back to stock look under the ms guru section for returning your phone to stock it should help you but then you need to do a restore with the nandroid backup to be completely stock. you'll have to put your phone into download mode hold both volume buttons and power let it do the vibrant screen twice then let go of power and still hold the volume buttons you should be in download mode proceed with the other things from there meaning ms guru and using odin
If you are having the problem I think you are, you should be able, if the software is compatible with Vibrant because I don't know if it is, to restore it with the Odin software or at least thorough a far more complicated process using adb. Check this thread, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=731989, and see if you are having a similar problem.

I wanted to let you know I had this same issue and I was still able to get into download mode with the same method described in the earlier post:
1:with phone off hold down volume up and volume down buttons- keeps buttons held
2ress and hold power on button
3:when the screen with the computer and cellphone on it appear for the second time wait for it to disappear
4:when it disappears wait for 1 second a let only power button go and you will be in download mode(android with shovel\big yellow triangle) and you can flash with Odin.
I tried this 5 or 6 times before I got it right but in the end I was able to get back to stock ROM and phone was brand new. Hope this helps.

it's about how to find out if the phone is from the defective pile or not via the IMEI #
but of course, the best way to find out is to press the 3 buttons
it's always funny to see the sales people faces when i do it in front of them and they are like OHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! HOW DID YOU DO THAT?
100% on the IMEI ?
If this is true this should get stickied
we'll need more people to confirm
specially those that have done the swap, if they can remember their old IMEI, and the new one

Mine has the 3 buttons disabled and the IMEI isn't right. Mine doesn't have a 60 in that order in it anywhere. I have 01xxxxx as the last 7 digits where the wiki says 60xxxxx is the problem.
Unless I REALLY suck at entering download mode.
is really really easy to get into Download mode
it takes a bit of practice to get into Recovery mode, but the Download mode is a no brainer
just hold those 3 buttons, after you put back the battery and bam! you are there already

My IMEI is the same as Frostshock's
FYI i got my phone on the Friday the 6th the phone came out in Coquitlam (Vancouver)
Bunk.
Poppycock.
Horsefeathers.
It's a timing issue people, not a "bad batch". I've yet to run into a non-bricked one that wouldn't go into unlock mode eventually. Not always the first time, but eventually it will go. I personally tested 4 units at a Bell store this week that were returned for this particular problem...all went into Recovery or Download mode when I tried it. Ponder on that.
Same issue with the Captivate, sometimes it just got stubborn about going into download mode, but it would eventually via keypress.
Oh, and FYI, both of my units didn't have a "6" anywhere in the IMEI string...the 9th digit was 0.
The IMEI on my Bell also doesn't have a 60xxxx or a 65xxxx on it.
3532850401207XX
I can get into download mode easily, but how do I try recovery?
Also, why is it that with my Rogers SIM, I can receive calls and text (though calls drop eventually) but not make a call or send a text? Is it normal for locked phones to be able to receive but not give?
sorry guys that's supposed to be the Serial # number not IMEI #
you can see it after you remove the battery inside the phone, or in the box where it came in

Ah...my first was a "60" series, my current is a "61"
yup that was my suspicions too, the first batch is the problematic one.
My serial number ends in 61xxxxx, was from the first shipment Bell got on Friday, and can't go into download or recovery mode. So there's more to it than that.
Edit: I was looking at my box because I didn't want to open my phone...my SIM number was stuck on top of the serial number, so that was my SIM number I gave you >_>. My serial number ends in 77####P, so the mystery continues.
if you look at the label of the box, it is the looooooong number at the top of IMEI, there is no letter in that bar code scanner (serial #)
Then it is 61xxxxx but...that's also the number on my SIM card...and that number is nowhere to be found underneath the battery. Under my battery where it says S/N it ends in a P.
Mine actually ends in 59965XX.
You still haven't answered how I get into recovery mode (it's stuck at download mode).
Also, why is it that my Rogers SIM can receive calls and text?

Guess you should of tried the 5 phones that I handled on Tuesday. The only one that would go into recovery/download was the store demo. Could get it to work every single time, nada on the other 4.
But yes, a lot of people might not know how to do it properly and returned perfectly working units. But I'd bet one of my bank accounts that you could not have got my phone to 3 finger into recovery.

But yes, a lot of people might not know how to do it properly and returned perfectly working units. But I'd bet one of my bank accounts that you could not have got my phone to 3 finger into recovery.

Bet ya I could.
I spent 4 hours off and on one night trying to get my Captivate into download mode last month, and if I wasn't in a hotel room 1000 miles from where I bought it, I would have given up and returned it the next morning, swearing it was bricked or un-doable. I stuck it out and it worked. It's been flaky on and off since then, but now I KNOW I can coax it into Download eventually. We have a relationship, me and that phone.
I also spent 25 minutes last night fussing with my "61" series Bell Vibrant after a stupid Odin incident..but it went, eventually.
They're temperamental, kinda like women and mules (no offense to the mules!).

I can tell you 100% for sure its not a timing issue.. I had one that would not go into download mode or recovery but I exchanged it and go one that would... its very easy to get one to go into download mode when it works on one that does not have the issue.. This was confirmed on the samdroid.net forums the Sbl.bin from bml4 seems identical but it was compiled on a different day and one string and data is slightly different. could have been an error when the file was compiled and downloaded to some phones. but since 95% of people don't root there phones no one really noticed till after.
My Streak 5 displays NO CARD SIM error message with any simcards (different carriers).
This happened just suddenly after reboot. Before that, there were no issues with sim card.
I'm running custom ROM DSC v0.6b
Any ideas how to fix it will be greatly appreciated.
Changing firmware should not cause such a problem, so check the slot. You likely have a bent or dirty pin.

If I insert a different sim card which is PIN locked, the phone requests the PIN p.
so apparently the phone communicates with a sim card. After I input the PIN, the phone displays "Invalid SIM card" message
I still don't think this is software related. I would have the carrier check the SIM and make sure it's working properly. Ideally though, you can check this yourself if you have an old phone laying around.

I have tried different SIM cards, none of them worked in my Streak.
In the same time my SIM card is working right now in my good old Nokia.
Since it worked until yesterday reboot without issues, I may presume that might be a baseband failure.
I tried the Streakflash tool that supposed to update the baseband amss.mbn, but it did not work..
Go back to Froyo and see if the problem resolves itself that way. If it does you'll know that you had a bad flash, which does sometimes happen. From that point you should be able to reinstall a Gingerbread ROM and have it work properly.

The Streak originally was locked to ATT when I purchased it, but I unlocked it with the code which was provided by Dell support.
Now, the Streak prompts to input the unlock code, but says that there are 0 (zero) attempts left.
When I unlocked it for the first time, there were 10 attempts and I put the correct code from the first attempt.
Any advice or idea how to get back my device back to business will be greatly appreciated.
I believe you need to call Dell and ask them, because unfortunately I don't know how to help any further. I want to say you need a PUK code to unlock, but I think that applies to the SIM itself, not the Streak.

I have faced the same issue. My phone was bricked and then I resurrected it using JTAG (Riff-Box), but it was not reading the SIM card. I could not find any solution other than changing the main board.
I had the no sim issue, with phone.android service constantly force closing as well after updating to streakroid 2.4.4, even after flashing dsc, the problem persisted. After I reviewed the steps I had taken I realized that I never did a factory resest (fearing I would forever lose my precious app data, which I did -_-). It turned out that was the fix, after doing the factory reset, my sim card was recognized immediately and a couple of the text I had missed showed up.
Now the data I lost thats another story (I do have backups)
At this point I don't if it will help but maybe it will someone else who reads this thread.
Everything was fine and then my sim card stopped working after replacing the battery. I did a factory reset and still I get the no sim card error. Some times when I set the phone down the signal bars show and when I pick it up they go away. The sim card works in my other phone. My phone is on rooted 2.2 firmware.

Sounds like hardware issue... either SIM card (which might not be if it works on other phone) then there's something loose in the Streak

Even, I am having the same problem and tried flashing various ROMs and all the suggestions given in this forum. For me, it shows the "x" symbol on the signal bar. I don't believer that it's a hardware issue as it's pretty much reading my SIM, but not identifying. My phone is now in a useless state, a costly paper weight..huh!

I hate when some people on this and other forums, tell others rudely to do the homework! Look at the sticky's ext! We are here to help one another, not badger, be unkind and be unhelpful! I'm almost ashamed to think We as a people, cannot be kind and helpful anymore! I just don't get the negativity of some of the contributors! I certainly would help, had I been able to, but instead perhaps others will learn instead a valuable lesson in being a good human and treat one another with respect and kindness...instead of every other time seeing some telling an op or other person to search the sticky's, do the research ect! If Your not going to engage intelligently, the why engage at all?! I for one, apologize for the behavior of Our contributors and users...for such rude and disrespectful behavior! That simply is NOT what XDA was intended to be! Stepping down from My soapbox!
I know I shouldn't reply to this post, since it's apparently a troll, but....
Since you singled me out by quoting a nearly year-old post in a thread last replied to over five months ago, I have to presume your "soapbox" post was simply to boost your post count, since it's clear to me you didn't read the thread at all. Now...if you decided to waste a post in response to my signature, guess what? Searching before posting is the number one rule on this site. The site's administration staff and its moderators expect it and all the other rules on this site to be followed.
If you don't know something, search for it. The answer is out there. Don't come to me expecting a handout, as I don't encourage laziness.
Long story short, I've encrypted both the internal card (sd card) and my 64gb micro SD card.
Now I have a few questions:
1) Say my phone is stolen, but my phone is on....and my phone is locked out (since it's been like idk, 2 hours since my last phone activity). Obviously the thief wouldn't have my fingerprint or password, so he couldn't theoretically plug my S7 via USB to his computer and read all my stuff right?
2) If the device is OFF, I'm sure his odds are even less...0%.....right?
3) If my phone is ON, and my phone is unlocked (say he stole it literally 1 minute after my last phone activity), he "could" go through all my stuff but what are the odds of that happening?
I'd appreciate answers to these questions: but I don't get one thing: what does this screen even mean? Right now, I have it to DO NOT REQUIRE. Am I compromising something here? I don't get the first option at all.

I have it on. Basically for your device to complete it's boot into Android, it requires your pin first.

I don't think so.
Every time I plug my phone into a PC via USB the phone asks if it's okay to allow access, and there is no option to "forget it, just do it" here. It's marginally irritating BUT has the advantage of never allowing unapproved access via USB. Note: My USB setting is at the default value of "MTP" - to enable media transfer, not just pictures.
If the device is OFF, I'm sure his odds are even less...0%.....right?

I mostly agree with @Rydah805 on this one. On my device a reboot/boot requires the pin/pattern/password (whatever you've configured) in order to access the device. The text on the device indicates that this "protects the fingerprints" - so I'm guessing that in order to access the (secure) storage where the fingerprint data resides the system first needs the base security credential you have configured.

This is why the security conscious configure the phone for a very brief "idle to screen lock" time (mine is 15 seconds, which also saves power) and to always 'lock' when the screen shuts off (no deferred time). In theory, couple this with Smart Stay and it won't turn off/lock WHILE you are using the phone, in practice Smart Stay isn't perfect and you may need to tap or scroll the screen to keep it awake. I find that a small price to pay for ease of mind (and reduced idle battery drain).
If the phone is locked, and you connect it via USB, the PC can't see anything on the phone via MTP or PTP. What I'm not sure about is IF you've enabled USB debugging, and the thief knows how to use ADB, if that changes things. My guess is that you still can't access anything on the phone without unlocking it first, but I don't know that for sure.
And since all the data is encrypted, if they brute force their way in somehow (physically accessing memory, say), they'll only have access to the encrypted data.
If the phone is off, and you haven't set the option shown in the OP, then the same answer applies, because the thief can just turn it on and get to the same place (locked with fingerprints). I'm not sure exactly what that option is doing, but if you turn it on you have to enter a pin or password when the phone boots, before you even get to the fingerprint unlock screen. It's adding another layer of security, and since I rarely reboot my phone, I have it turned on.
One thing to keep in mind if you're worried about the government accessing your data. At least one U.S. court has ruled that law enforcement can compel you to unlock the phone with a fingerprint, but not require you to divulge a password or pin. So if you're getting arrested, reboot your phone, quick!

Hmmm I guess I'll turn on the option too. I'm not worried about the government, just the common thief or hacker. I've got nothing to hide really from the NSA lol.
