Do built in batteries last longer than removable - Galaxy Note 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

The reason I ask that after 15 months my note 4 battery has gone after 20% approx it just goes almost instantly I changed battery with my girlfriends note 4 same result.
So the reason for asking if the note 6 which I'm planning to buy has a fixed battery (most likely) I dont want the major expense of changing battery. I've noticed many note 4 owners are having to change battery after 15 months or so.
The note 2 (I know many people who have one) battery seems to be much more reliable. Strange

Better stay on with the removable battery handsets.

[Q] Is it worth it?

Hello, im a beloved user of a Galaxy Note 2 and im considering switching to the LG G2!
Im not gonna ramble on about the screen and stuff but my only concern is the battery, the Note series is known to have the best battery life and on my current Note 2 i can get about 3-4 hours screen on time with roughly 10% left!
So my question is, how is the battery life and if anyone has had the Note 2 before the G2, was it a good upgrade?
You can read about g2 battery here

I'm with totally stock kit Kat and my best screen on was 6 hours +,so for me is best.
Now my phone is on 67%and I got 2hours and 40 min screen on,so without problems I can reach 5+ hours.

Your Galaxy S3 battery capacity after three years

Hey Folks,
It's been more than three years since the phone was released. Many would have replaced the battery similar to stock or higher capacities.
Let's share the battery life and usage of our phones. I have attached snapshots of my phone from GSAM battery monitor app. I have installed a 4400mAh Anker extended battery.
Please share yours. Cheers. :good:
Hi! Mi S3 has three years as well. You can see the date that it was built with the app Phone Info-Samsung- in the playstore. Mine it has a stock ROM, and with heavy usage (games, chrome and youtube) (didn't change the battery since got the phone), it gives 3h and 30 min screen on time. Very well to a phone that have three years. Greetings.
Stock battery 2 years plus
Offline Manga reading 5Hrs SOT
Online browsing 2~4hrs
Online streaming 2~4hrs
Gaming 2~3hrs
:C
3 1/2 years
Using Lollipop it drains in 4 hours of moderate using.
Using KitKat I can use the phone for 6 hours of moderate using.
I have been using my S3 since 1 year and 10 months and can go for 6-7 hrs with heavy usage
I bought my S3 in Sept 2013 so it has been close to 2yrs now and I have switched to Zero lemon which is 7000 maH monster..it lasts me for 3 days easily with super heavy usage...if I keep it in stand by it can last me for 20+ days without any issues...
I'm still using the stock battery. I've another stock battery as spare.
So far it working well with average of 7-8 hrs battery life with light usage.
Recently, I just use the Battery Repair app to repair some bad cells in the battery. Hopefully it will prolong the battery life a bit more.
Hi ******. Thats great timing so is yoir smartphone stable with this big monster 7000Mah . Can you guide me a bit so that i can buy one that i am sure about . I have galaxy s3 i9300 with 2 hours 3g use help me out

I changed recently to original Samsung's 3000mAh and would recommend it everyone who hesitate :good:
My S3 is now my second phone, so fairly light usage. Stock battery, 3 years 2 months old. Flashed Belokta Note 4 rom 5.1, Boeffla kernel 7.9. Greenify and Amplify. Able to achieve 2.5 days off the charger and 1 hour 15 mins SOT. Wi-Fi whenever possible. Not bad for a 3 year old battery and great work for the developers.

Wow, excellent score, seems like I need to try Boeffla

Battery has already lost capacity

Hello everyone. I own my Nexus 6P for 6 months already and couple months ago i have noticed that my battery life became worse. for the first 3 months i could easily get 6 hours SOT on WiFi. Now with the same setup i barely get 5 hours. Phone is stock. In the beginning of January I switched mobile carrier (chatr to Fido) but it should be a big deal since they are owned by the same company and have same antennas. What might be the problem?
Same for me... 5 to 6h SoT 6 months ago, in the last month... About 4....and now after installing Elementalx kernel with Ex Kernel Manager (no tweaks) and the last Google update, I'm back to 5.5-6h SoT. Not sure what happened... Lol

Could be some app you've installed is not letting your phone doze or is otherwise chewing power. That's the dark side of being on the latest and greatest release of Android OS. We get to be the first ones to see issues with apps that don't work well on the newest release without some developer tuning.

Rouge app or process that doesn't play well with the current OS.
You might have a crappy battery but more likely something was installed and doesn't allow your phone to sleep.

Usually li-po battery deteriorates at a much more gradual pace than what you have described. Unless you have constantly charged and discharged your phone in the past 3 months up to 500 times, I doubt that your phone's battery actually lost capacity. Usually after 300-1000 (500 is the industry standard) cycles (total discharge to 0% and then total recharge to 100%), rechargeable lithium batteries start to fail its performance standard, which usually means 50% of the test batteries hold less than 80% of their initial capacity. With all that fancy numbers, I concur with the previous replies. Get BetterBatteryStats to see which app(s) have been draining your battery.
I should add that I've had my 6P since early January, and recharge it nightly. I do not notice any degradation in capacity from when it was new.

I've had mine since Nov. and charge nightly.
I top mine off whenever I'm in the car.
Brings up a good point. I wonder if it's best to keep the battery toped off near fully charged as much as possible? I know Apples stance with Macs say this but it has special conditioning circuitry built in.

Note 7 battery life longer than note 4?

I realize the note 7 has a slightly larger battery and up to date internals. But has option for on always time clock on etc. So will the new phone offer at least 20 % more battery screen on time. Any thoughts. I enjoy my note 4 but Im prepared to let go off my infra red and removable battery if I get a longer battery life. Not too bothered about the Iris scanner waterproof etc. and the note 4 camera is great.
Shame we don't know much about the new Nexus or LG. Maybe 4000 battery.

It's still unclear how it will perform.
If you could wait a bit let others buy/test it first!
The battery life of any device is subjective to the individual user. As everybody uses their device different. I can get up to 2 days battery life with my N910C as I turn it off once I get home since I have a landline.

As the note7 comes on the same SOC as the Galaxy S7, we can expect an improvement in battery life. The S7 plays in the top legue when it comes to battery life, so its likely the Note 7 will behalf similar.

I won't bother to buy the Note 7. Eventhough it will definetly have greater battery life (see comparison Note 4 and Note 5), this will never replace the benefit of a removable battery. Considering the numbers, it may have 20% longer battery life then the note 5. But since I get approx. 5.5 hours of SOT with my Note 4, I don't see any point in upgrading until the phone dies.
But if you are just focused on the battery life: Taking the value of your note 4 into account (approx. $300), you would spend $500 just for 20% longer battery life (your estimation)? Thats insane man!
Good point thanks but if I get 20 percent more and a better camera plus waterproof and stronger screen.. I'm tempted

i got my new 6800 mah battery, in 1 or 2 days might i will made a post about it, i need to calibrate at all, but take some long time, u was using antutu battery test to drain it, just get around 5 hour of SOT whit max brightnes, from 99% to 7%, and i remove the battery and put again and... 35% again on battery, i open a game and drain to 7% and the phone just shut down, i remove the battery again and put it and the phone keep on for some time more, i reach 3% and i turn it off, now i put the charger, ita at 100% but i will leabe for 2 hours more, i think i need to drain to 0% one or 2 times more, but well it work perfect for me and dont make the phone line a brik like de zero lemon one
PD sry about my english its bad an i know it

What are the possibilities of a phone's perfomance related to battery?

I bought my note 3 back in 2014 January 2, until then never changed the battery for once. I did bought a new phone and it's lying around in my house. THe phone's battery was weakened to this point where just booting up the phone takes ~15% charge. And if I browse Facebook with Mobile Data(4G) then 10% drains in under 5 minutes.
Also, if I play games like "Clash Royale" my phone turns off automatically(also phone heating up quickly) despite my charge is around 70-80ish
Are all these reasons due to my weak battery? I flash my phone new rom every 3 weeks.
Galaxy Note 3 SM-n900(exynos)
Update: I'm using a custom rom, is this why it is showing A9000? And if I recall it correctly, Note 3 battery comes with 3200mah battery why is it showing 2550mah?
After 3 years your battery loose about 50% of it's original capacity so I recommend replacing it anyway.
Every time you flash a new rom (why are you doing that?) the cache is rebuild which takes some time and drain your batter a bit (in your case many bits).
