What are the possibilities of a phone's perfomance related to battery? - Galaxy Note 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I bought my note 3 back in 2014 January 2, until then never changed the battery for once. I did bought a new phone and it's lying around in my house. THe phone's battery was weakened to this point where just booting up the phone takes ~15% charge. And if I browse Facebook with Mobile Data(4G) then 10% drains in under 5 minutes.
Also, if I play games like "Clash Royale" my phone turns off automatically(also phone heating up quickly) despite my charge is around 70-80ish
Are all these reasons due to my weak battery? I flash my phone new rom every 3 weeks.
Galaxy Note 3 SM-n900(exynos)
Update: I'm using a custom rom, is this why it is showing A9000? And if I recall it correctly, Note 3 battery comes with 3200mah battery why is it showing 2550mah?

After 3 years your battery loose about 50% of it's original capacity so I recommend replacing it anyway.
Every time you flash a new rom (why are you doing that?) the cache is rebuild which takes some time and drain your batter a bit (in your case many bits).

Battery life sucks - got a new battery

All
I have been suffering with poor battery life for many months now, I have tried all the obvious solutions, even going back to a fresh re flash with no other apps and still the same (i.e. barely a day with moderate usage).
Then it occurred to me that I used to get at least 2.0 or 1.5 days with moderate usage for the first 6 months.
I confirmed a while back my battery was no the bad batch.
Anyway finally I source a direct genuine replacement from Handtech for £10.
I swapped the battery (no other changes at all) and voila, I would say back to original expectation
Reflecting back, the battery charging and during use would get very warm (not a good sign) but there was no sign of battery swelling, etc...
With the new battery even after a long first charge the handset was completely cold.
interesting...
How long you used the original battery?
I know some Iphones that still last a day with single charge after 5 years of usage. So the battery still keeps the charge. My 3 year old Galaxy S2 still keeps the charge but not as good as new one. So at least Samsung batteries becomes weaker over the time significantly.

Original battery was barely 1 year old.
I don't overcharge and normally cycle it once every few months (complete discharge and charge).
I am now 20% down after 8 hrs, with the old battery it would probably be about 40% down.

[Q] Is the battery gone or miscalibrated?

hello everyone, I'm a new note owner, I bought it used and I think it has two years on it, but it is in great shape. I noticed however, that the battery life isn't that amazing as people have told me, this coming from a Galaxy alpha user. I will leave screenshots of today's battery life and I think it isn't that amazing what it got
I've heard about battery miscalibration, is this really a thing? I can try and calibrated but I need to root it, & I wasn't really looking forward to reading it, since its lollipop on stock rom.
The screenshots are bellow of screen on time and total time, you can see that it's not consistent and I charge my phone two times a day.
http://imgur.com/a/ShaLI
I'm using lollipop official rom flashed on Odin via download mode, yes the rom is compatible with my country's frequencies so there's not really a problem there.
I notice however that the battery sort of goes down faster sometimes more than others, sometimes even going as far as draining 10% simply being on stand-by with LTE enabled for 2 hours in my pocket when I'm in class.
Is this normal behavior?
I don't think there is any such thing called miscalibration, I mean I am not sure, but well.
If your phone is 2 years old, then I think the battery has seen its life, time to get a new one mate.
Battery recalibrates itself .
However as the battery is old then Drain the battery to 5% power off charge fully unplug wait one hour top up charge and use .
Next step is new battery Anker brand is good .
Wiping battery stats/ supposed calibration has nothing to do with battery calibration and will make no difference .
Lithium-ion batteries last about 300-500 charging cycles, after that the risk of it dying increases exponentially. Some last 5 years, some 1. It depends on usage and environmental factors.
There is no such thing as recalibrating a modern lithium ion battery. It doesn't have a memory.
New battery costs about 20 quid, it should solve the problem.
Also, did you do a reset after the update? Updates can cause battery drain too, quite often.
Sent From My Samsung Galaxy Note 3 N9005 Using Tapatalk
No, I did not do a reset after the update. But I noticed this before updating to lollipop, I had to do some running around before I got home the day I bought it, and it was running KitKat 4.4. I got it with 93% of battery, walked home for a bit and was down to 65, went to the shopping and back, got home with 40 to 35%. (I bought the phone at around 5 pm and finally got home after going to the mall at around 8pm)

Then it's the battery, most likely.

Note 4 N910C - Extended Battery Calibration Issue

Hello everyone.
(Please excuse my lengthy post, I had a lot of details to share. Thanks!)
So I recently bought N910C from a guy in Dubai, who gave me an extended 8500mah battery along with it, and claimed that it would last me 3 days easily (though later he claimed that it runs a day on full use, and 2 days no mild usage. Also claimed that standard 3220mah battery lasts less than 6 hours) but 8500mah would take around 6 hours to charge (it takes me 1.5 max, does 1% in a minute, with quick charger). I was however instructed to calibrate the battery properly, which I did, twice, tried the manual (draining and full charging) method, and also tried two apps: Battery Calibration and Battery HD.
Facts:
After buying, I flashed marshmallow stock rom for N910C and rooted with CF-Autoroot.
I have been using its own fast charger throughout, not the standard charger.
Here is the problem:
Before rooting and changing the rom, the battery was barely lasting and would shut down when around 30%. So I rooted the phone and did the calibration (manual+Battery calibration app), but the battery timing remained the same, or maybe increased slightly. The good thing was that it did not shut down at 30% and went down to 1%, where it stuck for good 15 minutes (with me browsing the net).
After I recharged it, I tried Battery HD app, which ran tests and gave me the following figures of battery usage:
30 minutes on internet: 5%
30 minutes on video: 6%
30 minutes on music: 2%
After this process, the battery again collapsed in its 30s%. I tried the battery calibration method again, but no luck now, battery collapses in its 30s. The guy who I purchased it from keeps sharing the snapshot and claims it was working fine before.
Now my questions:
I read some guides, including topics on XDA that suggested that Exynos drains more than snapdragon. So should I try to make a switch to a variant of note 4 with snapdragon, or would that make no major difference?
Is this battery faulty and I should change it? the Seller claims that he had to come on to an extended battery cause the standard was ****, so I shouldn't try and get another, it would be a waste.
What could be the problem if the battery falls in 30s% even after calibration, with exception to that one time?
Also, when it collapses in its 30s and I put it to charge, the screen shows "charging at 45%", why is that?
Lastly, I read here on xda that zerolemon extended batteries require the standard charger as the quick charger would give **** time and would charge them quickly. Will that apply to me as well? Although my battery isn't zerolemon, it's some unknown brand. And it seemingly charges quite quickly with the regular charger as well (when the phone is turned off).
He claimed that it should take my phone 6 hours to charge, it takes me barely 1.5 hours even on the extended battery, is there something I am doing wrong?
If you went through all of what I wrote, thank you for being so patient! So now, do I have any hope with this phone or should I just sell it off and maybe get an AT&T or T-mobile variant?
Thanks in advance for the guidance to come. I'll keep updating this post with whatever other tests I run, and the progress.
Khurram
Sounds like the battery is faulty. ...try another one if possible

That's what I am trying to do, if only I can find someone's spare to try out lol.
p.s. you signature, lol I have the same three phones with the same status, except that my G3 (which is also white) is in a coma and G2 is up for grabs.

G4 Plus Battery Eater?

I have not had the g4 plus long. Out of the phones i own it is my least favorite. It has that gigantic bezel on the bottom with so much wasted space that my other phones took advantage of while this phone squishes the screen to put navigation buttons.
The bigger issue for me is battery drain. Under normal daily use the phone lasts 1/3 a day. Just sitting on the table it will lose complete charge before a day is complete. This is a new phone about 2 months old.
I compare it to my other phones. My old galaxy Note 4 with a new 34.00US battery from a local phone store under normal use gets two days of use and about 4 just sitting around. An old galaxy s5 someone gave me with an old battery makes it about half a day under use and about two days sitting around. The Redmi Note 4 gets about 2 1/2 days of use and i am not sure how long it will sitting around.
So what is it about this phone that causes it to consume batteries like this?
Maybe you have an app misbehaving, because my battery life is quite good, and I had the phone for 9 months.
It can't be an app issue with the phone so I used the greenify app on it with the original firmware. which hibernated background apps which did not help that much but, did a little..
I have had the bootloader unlocked for some time but waited another month to see if motorola was going to release an update. So I took the plunge and put lineage os on it with the mini version of gapps and nothing else. Today when I picked it up off the table to check messages it was black screen. I thought maybe going into hibernation bricked it but, no I plugged it into a usb charger and about 5 seconds later it lit up and the culprit was the completely drained battery at zero percent.
redmi note 4's bezels are even bigger... But yea, the battery issue may be becuase of a misbehaving app, I recommend installing "Wakelock Detector" for you to know which app is and uninstall it if it's from play store or disable it if it's a system one

Redmi note 7 HIGH battery drain

Hello,
my uncle just bought me a brand new genuine Redmi note 7, I opened the box and turned the phone on.. I noticed that the battery was at 66%, I set up the phone which took a minute or less and that's when I was about to connect it to my wifi BUT then I notice that the battery is 63% ALREADY.. Now knowing that the phone has a 4000mah battery I was beyond shocked too see a 3% drain with low brightness and just 1 minute of light use literally no SIM or internet was being used.. so I turned it off and charged it to the max.. After that I turned the phone back on to update miui.. I connected the phone to my wifi and started updating to the last version.. available from the updater.. it took less than 10 minutes.. and guess what I see? 100% to 89% in less than 10 minutes that's crazy.. I bought this phone because of this guy w ww. youtube. com/watch?v=3gaWbx2x06s as we can see in the video he gets almost 8 hours of SOT with full brightness wifi and youtube FHD... right now I'm doing the same experiment and adding battery saver setting and my battery is draining fast I'd be surprised if I got 4 hours of sot... I don't understand... what's wrong? The phone is new and genuine since I verified the imei.. Thank you.

I believe every phone does the same thing like that when you configure them for the very first time. Full brightness, wifi scanning, mobile data ON, GPS ON, sync ON for a few minutes can consume lots of battery.
My advice is to fully set up your phone with all the apps you want and turn off any features you don't use. Use and recharge your phone normally for a few days. Check for battery consumption stats using native graphs or popular battery tracking apps. Analyze graphs and stats and draw the conclusions yourself. (Don't trust everything people say on YouTube, trust your own experience.)
In the worst scenario, you can always return your phone within 7 days of purchase. I hope you don't have to! :fingers-crossed:
My brand new redmi note 7 is a little fast draining right now too which is a little disappointing but my redmi note 5 was also the same fast draining when I first purchased it and it improved so I really hope this redmi note 7 does the same and improves.
I have both phones side by side right now so I can kind of compare usage

Yeah even my mediatek redmi note 4 didn't drain like this.. now when it gets to 15% it just discharges completely.
One thing I will mention is facial recognition. It could possibly drain the battery faster so I have just turned it off for testing purposes. I need to see what difference it makes but that's really the only difference between my two redmi phones 5 & 7.
Any new phone battery will take a few charge/drain cycles until it is calibrated correctly.
Use it for a while and see if the battery settles down.
Also different countries have different mobile systems. This will also affect battery life as the phone needs to continually scan for a signal....

30% brightness.. only wifi.

I know the post is old but I have the same problem ... I think we are so many to have it !!
I have a Note 7 for more than a month and it never went well ... I managed to do only 3 days but almost without using it, there are people who also do 4 or 5 days of use ...
Anyway if I use it it makes me amalapena 1 day ...
When I use the phone I see that it consumes my battery quickly even if I just navigate the phone menu.
I've already done at least 4 reset but it didn't help
I do not know what to do..
Did you solve the problem?
miui 11 could help?
Thanks
Imposible to do 4-5 days with this phone or any phone when u use it. Why do u have smartphone when u dont use it and u care about battery?
What version MIUI are you all using?
I'm still on 10.3.5 and battery life is great.
I average 9.5 hours SOT ( 2 days worth) with normal use and have got as high as just under 11 hours SOT a few times.
If you're not on 10.3.5, can you roll back?
I've heard of battery life issues after updating to the newer versions which is why I'm staying on this one until they work out the kinks
My battery life has improved since my earlier post just as I expected it to The note 5 does last a little longer when I put them side by side but they are both great phones and the batteries last for ages with normal daily use!
I barely use 50% with gaming (currently clash royale) social medias, spotify for around 2 hours and some other stuff plus I'm working 5 days a week so I don't get to see my phone for most of the day anyway

might be a dumb question but, how/when do you charge your phone ? do you wait for the battery to reach 0-10% and charge it back to 100%? or you do the 20% to 80% charge "cycle" ?
I try to charge my phones every night now when I go to bed, The note 5 & 7 are around 50% most days from useage and I charge them from around 8/9pm until I wake for work at 5am (Living the dream)

and what SOT do you get with the 50% usage ?
I am not sure, Because it almost never drops below 50% in a days usage I have stopped looking and worrying about battery life It just lasts and lasts for me.
However I will try and take notice over the next few days and report back if there is anything to report...
