Note 7 battery life longer than note 4? - Galaxy Note 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I realize the note 7 has a slightly larger battery and up to date internals. But has option for on always time clock on etc. So will the new phone offer at least 20 % more battery screen on time. Any thoughts. I enjoy my note 4 but Im prepared to let go off my infra red and removable battery if I get a longer battery life. Not too bothered about the Iris scanner waterproof etc. and the note 4 camera is great.
Shame we don't know much about the new Nexus or LG. Maybe 4000 battery.

It's still unclear how it will perform.
If you could wait a bit let others buy/test it first!

The battery life of any device is subjective to the individual user. As everybody uses their device different. I can get up to 2 days battery life with my N910C as I turn it off once I get home since I have a landline.

As the note7 comes on the same SOC as the Galaxy S7, we can expect an improvement in battery life. The S7 plays in the top legue when it comes to battery life, so its likely the Note 7 will behalf similar.

I won't bother to buy the Note 7. Eventhough it will definetly have greater battery life (see comparison Note 4 and Note 5), this will never replace the benefit of a removable battery. Considering the numbers, it may have 20% longer battery life then the note 5. But since I get approx. 5.5 hours of SOT with my Note 4, I don't see any point in upgrading until the phone dies.
But if you are just focused on the battery life: Taking the value of your note 4 into account (approx. $300), you would spend $500 just for 20% longer battery life (your estimation)? Thats insane man!

Good point thanks but if I get 20 percent more and a better camera plus waterproof and stronger screen.. I'm tempted

i got my new 6800 mah battery, in 1 or 2 days might i will made a post about it, i need to calibrate at all, but take some long time, u was using antutu battery test to drain it, just get around 5 hour of SOT whit max brightnes, from 99% to 7%, and i remove the battery and put again and... 35% again on battery, i open a game and drain to 7% and the phone just shut down, i remove the battery again and put it and the phone keep on for some time more, i reach 3% and i turn it off, now i put the charger, ita at 100% but i will leabe for 2 hours more, i think i need to drain to 0% one or 2 times more, but well it work perfect for me and dont make the phone line a brik like de zero lemon one

hello guys,
i'm thinking to buy this tablet, now i got ipad 3...
what is your opinion about this tablet after a good use? is battery comparable to the ipad one?
there is any know great problem?
thx a lot
I did a comparison on this tab vs ipad 4 and it performs twice as good and less laggy. Also has lower frame drops across the bosrd which is a bonus. App store isnt quite as good, but definitly a supperioir tablet. I get ab8ut 2 hours exfra battery life over the ipad 4 with mynormal usage. Some people say they get less or equal - it all comes down to what you do on it. This was a very nice upgrade over the 4 and is better than my iphone 5s too.
They both have strengths and weaknesses.

I think the samsung is fine on battery life. It will last you the day easy on heavy use. Especially if you root and remove bloatware . I think if a tab lasts the day on heavy use there's not much to complain about as you can just charge over night

It does "OK" on battery life. Both my N3 and N10.1-14 get worse battery life than the N2 and N10.1-12 they replaced. It's to be expected as both have double the pixel count of their predecessors. The batteries on both are larger but don't compensate for the higher PPI displays and additional features. Speaking of which, I like the additional features so accept the battery life consequences. Depending on your definition of "bloatware" a de-bloated N10.1-14 with its functionality removed is pretty comparable feature-wise to an iPad. I agree though that you can make it through a day pretty easily on a charge.
My biggest ***** is that it takes forever to charge; especially when the S-800 N3 is one of the fastest charging devices on the planet. Using a standard micro-USB port for charging is great for compatibility but the 30-pin charger made a huge difference in charging time. The battery in the N10.1-14 is 15% larger than the N10.1-12 but takes 30% longer to charge. I bet the LTE (S-800) N10.1-14 does better because of Qualcomm's QuickCharge feature.
It does the a while but if it's done overnight it's ok, mine from about 10 percent takes 4 hours. In bloatware I mean useless things that take resources, samsung hub, apps, push service, chat on, my magazine. It doesn't reduce any features what so ever, it actually enhance s it, the battery lasts longer it's smoother and you can select any or all apps to be MW and pen window compatible

any big problem?? something you hate maybe?
The overall performance could be better, it's still awesome, there's a update us in the UK are waiting for that has further stabilisation and multi users

I'm not rooted yet, but love this tablet. I'm learning more about it daily. Only downside is that I don't believe we'll get many custom roms. Development is almost non existing.
Steve
I have P605 with S800 and et takes 4 hours to charge starting on 5 % battery left. But I agree that the battery life is at least 1 hour screen use less than the 2012 model. But this is now, lets see with future ROM optimizations even stock ones. I am sure battery life will improve. The same happent with 2012.

Note 4 battery anyone concern?

I had the note 3 the battery was terrible and i really thought we'd be getting atleast 4000mah as some websites stated but 3220mah aren't you guys concern? Seems like a joke to me.

I was under the impression that the Note 3 had pretty good battery life... at least that was what I was able to discern from reviews.
Can someone else who also owned the Note 3 chime in?
Watch this and you won't be concerned about battery any more:
https://www.google.de/url?sa=t&sour...Ot9BGMeI02GwNY_Zw&sig2=jB_BFvUf5EMKyJdT_ZwXOw
This video shows that the Galaxy S5 with Snapdragon 805 and QHD Display doesn't use more battery than the "old" Galaxy S5. So Samsung seems to have found good ways for battery saving.
I am not concern. I plan to get 2 extra battery and a external charger. The Note 3 version was like $30. Whick brand is good? Anker?

You would be correct. The Note 3 Battery life was pretty damn good. I never had issues with it, and if you look over the N3 forum you'll see some pretty outstanding results :good:
I expect the N4 to have been tweaked a little and the battery to be either on par or at least very very similar to the N3.

The Note 3 was widely regarded as having some of the best battery life for any phone of that time.
If anything wall hugging iphone users have something to be worried about with their copycat device, "Retina HD" welcome to 2012 Apple and the battery size, hardly a mention because we KNOW its smaller than Samsungs.
My note 3 has pretty decent battery life. Just make sure to disable a bunch of stuff that you don't need for best results.

since 4.4.2 update WiFi battery usage increased. so i got battery drain...
But i change setting to turn off WiFi when screen off and Battery Life became normal
On Note 4 they claimed for more optimization for power + UltraPower Saving mode...
so we have to wait for reviews and our experiences...
:good:
Even though I was disappointed they didn't include a bigger battery, I'm not concerned about battery usage on Note 4. I don't think they would've made a big deal about battery usage the and better performance on the Note 4, if they didn't have something to back that up. It would've been much simpler to not mention the 7% improvement, or just say they increased the battery by 20mAh. I'm expecting a somewhat better performance compared to the Note 3, which is fine.

The battery is still bigger than the iphone 6+'s and you can always swap it out and with quick charge feature 0-50% in 30 minutes, how long does an iphone take?
It's not how big the battery is, but how it's used. I have Note 3 and I saw as much as 40% drain overnight, when phone was not used at all, right after updating to KitKat and I also managed to have as little as 1% drain overnight, after killing some of bloatware. I can't pinpoint anything in particular, but it could be more than one program. Right now for example Google search is draining my battery more than all other programs combined and I'm not doing anything with the phone at all. I don't want to kill it, since I use it sometimes, but if it keeps doing it I may have no choice. Anyhow if Note 3 is working properly it can have fantastic battery life.
According to what I read so far Note 4 screen should be something like 14% more efficient than older version, despite having higher resolution, CPU and rest of hardware should be at last as good as older models and there should be ultra power saving mode, so I wouldn't worry about power that much, unless some program or programs crash and go bananas, but at least software issues can be fixed, just a matter of effort. For example many claim factory reset fixes excessive battery drain right after firmware update, which I had personally.
If you are concerned, you could always buy a ZeroLemon battery.
Here's the report on Note 4 screen. Remember display consumes the most energy of anything.
http://www.displaymate.com/Galaxy_Note4_ShootOut_1.htm
Comparison with the Galaxy Note 3:
The Galaxy Note 4 is 14 percent more power efficient than the Galaxy Note 3. This is due primarily to a 19 percent improvement
in the power efficiency of the Green Primary channel (materials and electronics). The results are scaled for the same Luminance.
Comparison with LCDs:
While LCDs remain more power efficient for images with mostly white content (like text screens, for example), OLEDs are now
more power efficient for mixed image content because they are emissive displays so their power varies with the Average Picture
Level (average Brightness) of the image content. For LCDs the display power is independent of image content. OLEDs have
been rapidly improving in their power efficiency. In fact, the Galaxy Note 4 is 40 percent more power efficient than the
Full HD LCD Smartphones we tested for mixed image content (that includes photos, videos, and movies, for example)
with a typical 50 percent Average Picture Level, APL.

SOC should use the same power as other Snapdragon 805 powered devices (hint: Qualcomm generally makes pretty power efficient smartphones).

Totally borked battery??

Running Alliance ROM in the stock slot.
If so, any suggestions? The cheapo "Samsung" batteries on Amazon all have horror stories. Anker? Anyone tried it with the Note 3?
Thanks!

Could you explain more like how long it lasts or screen on time. Overheating ect. I have alliance rom I get 6.5 or more hours of screen ON time so it may be your charging habits. Recalibration battery helps. Most say let it go down to 10 percent and recharge uninterrupted. Also you can drain battery fully. Take out battery for 2 min reinsert turn on let it turn off to be sure of complete depletion. Then charge to 100 uninterrupted. Then get rid of the battery bin file to make a new one so your battery can work better. I use a app to remove the bin file for me. I had poor battery before root screen on time was 2 hours if I was lucky due to 4.4.2 then I rooted for longer battery life. Well worth it. Only use real Samsung note 3 battery's you can damage your device with fake battery's and always use the charger the phone came with. If you need more help I will assist you the best I can. Hope I helped you. The app is called battery calibratio n it removed battery bin file so os can generate new one only for use after you flash a new rom. I also greenify and turn off all apps location requests. I use a black wallpaper that will help save battery alot.

Thanks for the reply! Screen on time is shown in the second screenshot. That's a very accurate representation of my daily experience.
I typically use my phone until it gets down to 4-5% and then recharge it to 100%. I used to get around 18 hours on battery, with screen on time around 3 hours (and 20-30% left at the end of the day!!). Brightness set to about 70%. Now I'm lucky to get even half those figures before its totally flat. Today my battery was completely dead after less than 10 hours on battery and less than an hour is screen-on time.
My battery is nearly charged but I will give the method you mentioned a try tomorrow.
I will definitely avoid the cheapo batteries. Its disconcerting that Amazon sells obviously fake Samsung knockoffs. Yeah its from a marketplace vendor but I think Amazon should bear some responsibility. Now, have you ever tried Anker batteries? They seem to review really well.
Sent from my SM-N900V using XDA Free mobile app
No I have not used anker batteries but for the most part I don't trust reviews I've had many items one example headset I purchased raved reviews but both had defects of snapping so I am cautious as to what reviews I trust. Alot of times companies hire people or do the fake reviews themselves so look for only negative reviews if there are a lot of positive reviews and that should be a good clue. Also alot of batteries made by other companies boast that they have more power or mah like 3200 but when tested they end up being much less 2700 for example. Also some reviewers are too excited for product reviews they exaggerate about the item. It's a placebo effect. Oh this is the best!!!! YOU SEE HOW GREAT!!!!!! Those are very misleading.i say find a exact note 3 battery that came with the phone you should be able to find one for 12 dollars. If you run into more issues purchase 2 battery's and swap out the battery when needed that's the beauty of this device alot of people tend to not use. I phones your hugging the wall charging note 3 you can swap battery's buy a few and change them out. If I did this I'd get 14 hours of screen on time from just 2 batteries which is worth 12 dollars. Another item I enjoy is the power add Apollo 2 it's a solar charger you take on the go it's I belive 10000 mah of I recall. You can charge 2 devices at once it comes with every phone cord that's ever been made. You can hook it to your back pack like I do when I travel or keep it in your window. It even charges indoors from lighting. You can find this on amazon. So buy a power add and 2 spare batteries you'll be all set.

Battery Life Discussion

Please post all your battery life discussions, tips, tricks, habits, on screen times, etc here.
I hereby designate this the "Official" battery life discussion thread!
well when i picked it up it had 59 or 56% charge and went down to 8% in about oh 2 hours tops and this honestly had me a bit scared. When I put it on the charger I noticed plugged into my laptop or my truck usb port it took forever to charge and honestly would not charge fast enough if it was being used. When I put it on the charger it came with plugged into the wall it charged from 8%ish to 100% in easily 45 mins I let it charge over night and took it off the charger and its now been off for roughly 12 1/2 hours and down to about 56% battery life. So I am definitely satisfied with the battery life so far.
I do run ultimate juice defender and power saver mode. I tried out the ultimate power saver mode for a mere 15 seconds and quickly reverted back. Also I have weather set to auto update every 3 hours, email every 3 hours, facebook never, and anything else is at 6 hours.
To early to tell. Gotta give it a few days. But I can say that the phone seems to drop to the 50% mark easy, but then drops slower after that.
I'll post battery screen in a few days.
Here's a screenshot of my phone's battery life taken a couple of days ago. Highly impressive! Bear in mind mine is the Exynos Octa Core model.
Here's a screenshot of my phone's battery life taken a couple of days ago. Yes, I had the battery saving mode on but I was using the phone for large amount of time. Highly impressive! Bear in mind mine is the Exynos Octa Core model.
Charging mine to full right now and I will then let it run until it turns off then charge back up to full and see how it does.
Remember your number 1power consumer is your screen. Some tips I have
1 set the screen as low as you can and still see it
2 the more stuff you have on your homescreen the more the processor has to work to display it
3 if you can use art runtime do so, the davlic system is a just in time system witch means it only processes information as it gets it. The art runtime processes information ahead of time so in general terms it can process the same amount of information in a dynamic sense. The art runtime also will improve overall performance espically in games and intensive applications
4 keep as few processes and services running as possible
5 when able to use wifi do so. When using mobile data your phone constantly pings the towers near it. This constant process eats at the battery. By using wifi this cuts off your mobile data modules and dosent worry about data connections (except for your voice network, even using voip your voice system stays active, I guess its a tap left open for the phone companies)
Any other tips? I caint think of any
For rooted users
Undervolting always help. With the combined use of undervolting, using the art runtime, running an odexed rom, and using an interactive type scheduler and you can maintain decent performance (with decent hardware or better) and have great battery performance
Any update on battery life? GSM arena review updated battery endurance. Just want to get review from current users.
Going to run my battery to zero today and see how the results are. The software won't get an understanding of the battery capacity until it runs to zero to know exactly how much juice it has. Otherwise it is just guessing.

Almost 6 hours on screen time with blue tooth on whole time and wifi.

This is great very impressive battery life. I guess it will get better after few cycles.
not impressed…. so far.
I have had the phone since the 14th. I have had sporadic useage the first few days but yesterday I just decided to use the phone like I normally would. I got 14 hours BUT I had less than 3 hours screen time. That is horrid. I am reserving judgment until at least this sund. I will have had it at least a week and some days. I know the note 4 had an update immediately to addresses battery issues. I wonder will this happen for the edge. Will report back.
Note: I tried to attach battery screen shots but I get "invaid files". Dont know what thats about.

So battery life is worse by a noticeable amount then the note 4? I have a note 4, thinking of getting the edge
So far mine seems to be about the same as my Note 2, with updates being done every hour (except weather updates to my gear watch, which is updated every half hour). So I am pretty happy with.

Do built in batteries last longer than removable

The reason I ask that after 15 months my note 4 battery has gone after 20% approx it just goes almost instantly I changed battery with my girlfriends note 4 same result.
So the reason for asking if the note 6 which I'm planning to buy has a fixed battery (most likely) I dont want the major expense of changing battery. I've noticed many note 4 owners are having to change battery after 15 months or so.
The note 2 (I know many people who have one) battery seems to be much more reliable. Strange

Better stay on with the removable battery handsets.
