You haven't said what your criteria is.

The best phone for my money is that matters to me. I play with a Note 2 and fall in love with miui, but love naked android 2

I would definitely wait for the one plus 3, it's just around the corner and has great specs for half the price of a 6p depending on where you live. I bought the 6p coming from the OP2 but it was the smallest upgrade ever for me. Qhd screen is not a plus, surely the 6p screen which is bad and the front facing speakers are hyped but still useless to me. Battery life ain't better. The camera is the only thing that's better for me. Near Stock Android is also available for oneplus phones. I'm just saying, wait a little.

I second this. If possible wait and see what the one plus three has in store. It's literally just around the corner. I'm curious and waiting for this myself. I just really hope the morons don't do that silly invite system. Ain't got time for that crap. I just wanna spend.

Lol I don't even know what to say.

But we will always have the problem of the private drivers in the oneplus world. Thats why we only have forked roms. And feel the company does not care their customers.

True, that's why I sold the OP2 but that was just because of the fingerprint scanner, since MM that problem is solved.
To be honest, development for the Nexus nowadays is also not what is was back in the day.
I'll see what I do but after a year with the 6p I will buy something else. Maybe the HTC 10 or oneplus 3.

This doesn't bother me. When I had my one plus one I ran oxygen os when it was released and ditched junk cm. I had no desire to run custom roms with it. Same with one plus two. I used oxygen. All I need is root. I don't feel the need for custom roms. Even now with my 6p I try a custom ROM but always return to stock anyways. But of course not everyone feels that way...tho I think people are jumping on board with that.

Should i buy oneplus one ?

Hello,
i have a Samsung S3 right now with CM11 nightly. It is pretty good and stable. Drivers are not perfect. Expecially camera drivers.
I would like to buy a new device. I have waited for N6 and unfortunally it is too big, too thick e too expensive. So I am thinking to buy a Oneplus One.
I have read around about touchscreen issue. It is fixed ? Drivers in Cyanogen are stable ?
I want a stable phone for daily use. It is ok to test new rom o new kernel sometimes, but i need a stable phone to work with.
What you think ? Should i buy one ?
Thank you !
I have the OPO and its been over 2 month i'm using it!The phone is great and so are the drivers! No touchscreen issues for me!I use multi rom to test new rooms!I think you should go with the oneplus!

I think before making a new thread for a question thats been asked a million times before and an answer that only you can answer you should search for what others have said. Here are only a few I found real quick that can help you out. Lets be honest as well you are asking about rooting your phone and will it be stable. You can read up on any rom you like and find out if its stable but honestly there all based off of cm which is quite stable at this moment. If you are worried stay stock.
First link stock rooted where I would go to ask or rather read up to see just how stable the stock rom is... At least its a starting point. My bad if you think I am being an ass but your question is slightly subjective and all your answers are out there for you. Again my bad

OnePlus One fits a niche crowd, people who like to tinker with their devices and want a true powerhouse to take advantage of. There is also a subset of users that would want a pure-ish Android experience with a customizable interface minus the fluff that comes with a skinned interface like TouchWiz or Sense.
As it stands, I like CyanogenMod without any further tweaks. The phone runs well and doesn't give me many issues to worry about. (Note: no phone is perfect)
If you need mhl, hell no. Otherwise it's the best phone out right now...

Yes though it depends on budget as well I guess. Dollar for dollar I think the OnePlus is still a better buy, however if it's within budget the nexus 6 is clearly the better phone overall.
Mmm bacon
Thnk you all for reply.
I have readed a lot about OPO. I dont like N6, it is big, fat, heavy and expencive. I prefere a 5.5 inc display.
The main problem about OPO are the yellow band and touchscreen issue, that are not resolved with 38R.
I will wait till that problems will be resolved, later i will buy one.
Thank you all !
Its definitely the best smartphone for its price range right now. I have been using it over two month now and i did not have any issue.
Before i bought it, i too was worried about the yellow band problem. But until now I never get the yellow band or touch screen problem.
OnePlus One is perfectly fine and great performance. After i got this phone i immediately try antutu benchmark and suprised that it got the first ranking. That is something to brag to your friends.
As for the rom, CM11S is really stable for daily use and i did not have any problems with it. Great multitasking, smooth gaming, nice camera performance, great speaker quality and great battery life. Plus i heard that they are working to release Android L update for OPO. Cant wait for that. Even if you still want custom rom, most of them that i tried are stable for daily use.

It also depend on how long you're going to keep this phone also. I get at lease 2 phones a year. I have the oneplus one and it always seem like I go back to the Note 3.... But the nexus 6 will be a phone you can keep for another year

Ok if you have read then you also know that not everyone has these issues and the touchscreen issue was software related and those on 38r saying they still have an issue could be user error or faulty devices. Now lets be honest 1+ has sold quite a few devices and I know of at least half a dozen people with them. With that being said I am the only one with yellow banding and its barely noticeable and since the update no one has the touchscreen issue.
Why do so many allow the voices of the few decide for them. At the end of the day it is your decision and if you have done your research then YOU are making the best choice for you....
I've had the s3 and was running cm11 with oneplus mods on it and I can say it doesn't compare.
This phone is ridiculous, it amazingly fast and I have had no problems.
I ordered mine on Saturday and it came yesterday so I've only had a day with it so far but I'm so impressed, would recommend to anyone.
I had a G3, Note3, Z2 and this OPO It's the most incredible smartphone. And the feature that we can unlock bootloader and not lose the warranty is the best!

The G3 was the 16Gb (2GB ram) or 32GB (3GB ram) version?
I'm thinking of buying the oneplus 64GB or the G3 32GB, but i really can't choose which one...
Ive got the 64gb sandstone black, had it for 3 weeks now, worth every penny. At this point the company is well situated and running at full speed, buy with confidence and you will not be disappointed.
You should buy and have a try yourself. For me, this phone is better than expected.
Phone is amazing, period. Get it if you can

For sure. I've been pleased with the phone. The size is nice for me even with my small hands, the battery stands on its own, its plenty fast, many ROMs and kernels to enjoy and for the price what more can you ask for.
This phone should of been the new Nexus 6. Tons of development here
SlimKat or SlimPop
As someone who was in love with my previous phone, nexus 5. The OnePlus is the best phone at market price-wise. If it was priced in the same range as N5 or N6, I would definitely chose a N phone. Software-wise it is kinda buggy (both cm11 and cm11s) and hardware-wise (touchscreen and yellow screen)
I would wait until n6, and then make a choice, because the n6 isn't that much bigger then the OnePlusOne, but damn expensive.
I think I will sell my OnePlusOne when the n6 hit the market, cause I really miss the wireless charging.

What is the Future of this phone as of now ?

I've had this phone about 3 months now and thought it was going to be good in the dev community but as im seeing now it seems all dev for this phone is dead or dying, so what hope is there that we will have any roms or new mods for this phone?Yes i understand about the locked bootloader but i was looking at the note 7 forum and they have roms for there phone and the note 7 came out after the 7 edge? i would just like to know in everyone's opinion should we be waiting and hoping for someone to break the codes and unlock our phones true potential or just shut my mouth and sit back and take what i've got and be happy with it. Don't get me wrong i commend the Echoe rom team and all the hard work they did for us and that should not be overlooked. All im saying is what do we need to get this phone poppin like all the other phones ?
Thanks
A New S7 Edge Owner
I guess all we could do is hang on to this one and trade it in or sell it when the S8 comes out and maybe we won't get screwed on the next model.
I was thinking about trading it for one of the new Google Pixel XL phones, but they aren't going to have an SD slot. I think I am still going to trade it for something else though... having a hard time figuring out what I want that's comparable.
If you're looking for a mod friendly device, you should look elsewhere. With a locked bootloader, you're not going to get much dev support. Having said that, I would say that the future of this phone is bright. I can honestly say that I see no reason for me to mess with the system. It's excellent as it is.

Yea, hate to say it, but Google should stick to making software. Either that, or actually develop the production capacity to do your own manufacturing or at least quality control, instead of farming it out to random Chinese manufacturers. My only experience with Nexus is the Nexus 5, but that device was awful. In fact, I can't think of a single redeeming quality of that device.
I'm selling mine and going back to the Note 4

yeah. I'm thinking about the OnePlus 3, the support for that phone seems very good. Plus it is not too expensive. I wonder what my options are for switching phones, I don't think T Mobile will take back my phone and stop charging me my monthly device installment.

Wow you guys amaze me, I guess if it isnt made out of glass and metal with diamonds on it then its not worthy for you. I've had the nexus 5, 6 and 2013 7, and although this is a nice phone. Id take the functionality and stability of a nexus any day. You do not know what you are talking about if you really think this phone or an iphone is worlds ahead of a nexus. Yeah, the nexus 5 was cheap feeling, it was $350 brand new, and it was the most reliable phone I've ever had. And I've had a couple iphones, you guys either don't know what your doing or got a bad device.

I've been a nexus user since the Nexus 5 launched. and a CM user for years before then. the S7 edge is my first Samsung device (and only because I got it for free), because I have always felt the same way about Samsung as I do about apple. all hype, all trend, ignorant (non-power-user) fanbase. Samsung is literally the apple of Android, if you know what I mean. I'll never own another Samsung device after this one.

Do you think the bootloader will be unlocked? I'm still kinda new to Android and the first recent one I got was this S7 Edge. The V20 does look really nice though, hope it is released soon.
I also like the HTC 10 because there is a ton of stuff for it. The Viper rom looks awesome, pretty crazy they have OTA updates for the rom.

Typically LG doesn't lock their bootloaders, and since its going to be the same phone internationally its dev community may be loads better.

A few developments in the last month:
Unified 935U based roms - This will be great as the unification of US rom development (and the ability to have VOLTE) will make life better for US S7 users as they will have the newest rom of the 5 options running.
Note 7 release: The Note 7's UI seems better (samsung has already started promised to unify the UI in android 7) and the rom has been ported (same chipset).
Enhanced T-mobile Support on international models: Wifi calling/Volte has now been ported to the International (935F) model, at least if rooted. I switched as the Exynos version is faster and has better battery life (and the gap is greater in rooted versions than stock) and a stronger development community including Note 7 ports.

Goodness no. If you root and just care about speed, battery and custom rom options on android 6/touchwiz (and don't care about US warranty support), I would say yes.
If you care about warranty support, want an unrooted phone (or the ability to root without tripping Knox), want to use Samsung Pay or like T-mobile's financing options, The US model is definitely the one. It also has more upside
Long Term, Samsung's Android 7 may see a boot-loader unlock option, which would jump start CM/kernel development (cutting the performance gap between the phones and giving people who like Samsung's industrial design but not their software design a good solution). Next month, there will be Nexus phones running SD820, which will continue the advantage Qualcomm based roms have in custom development.
I'm going to be patient. This is a book I've read before. The fact is that the S7 edge will have the bootloader unlocked eventually.

The Nexus 5 was an awful device, with awful battery life, awful display, awful speaker, and awful camera. It was quick with stock Android, but it literally had no other redeeming qualities. Mine has been used as a paperweight, to keep papers from flying off my desk when my windows is open. I am not joking. I will take an Apple device over the Nexus 5 any day, and I can't stand Apple. And yes, I have an Apple device too. I have not had any other Nexus devices, and probably never will. Samsung devices have treated me very well over the years so I am sticking with them. And honestly, the GS7 is an excellent device all around, I couldn't care less about a locked bootloader. The days of spending hours/days flashing ROMs are behind me. I have more important things to do with my free time. So before you go off and make blanket statements such as "we don't know what we are doing," consider the fact that some of us don't share the same interests as you. The majority of the world wants a device that works out of the box and doesn't know what a bootloader is, much less that it can be locked or unlocked. You, and this community, are a tiny minority of smartphone users. And guess what, there are companies that cater to you as well. Don't be pissed at Samsung for delivering what their customers wanted.

Nexus 6P vs Pixel XL

Hey guys, how you all doing?
Just wanted to know your opinion. Currently I am a phoneless guy since my Nexus 5 died a few days ago and since I gave up on the ZTE Axon 7 due to the lack of support from ZTE to the mod community. I am really, really, really eager to finally see what Google is up with the new Pixel phones. Some rumors say that it will be a tough phone to root and mod due to the two partitions for seamless updates and the startup check, etc, etc. That is worrying me a bit. But, since I am a bit desperate to get a new phone, the wait is just cruel, unbearable, excruciating! Yesterday I came across the Nexus 6P, the 128GB version to be more specific, at Amazon. Taking the Nexus 5 as reference, I know that I can rely on the support from the mod community to always have new and updated stuff, since we are talking of a phone that was launched just one year ago. SO, what would you do? Buy a consolidated phone that is the Nexus 6P with tons and tons of mods available, or wait for the Pixel XL?
Sorry for the long text!
Regards!
i would wait for the pixel xl especially now as the release draws closer. the nexus 6p is no doubt the best nexus ever made IMO but the pixel may very well be better. about modding, android has went through many changes that appeared as the death of the developer community but the ever so skillful and dedicated devs here at XDA always seem to find a loophole. it may take time, but eventually, root will be achieved!

Huh?
Root on a Pixel or Nexus device?
Unlock the bootloader and flash?
That is the one advantage that has always existed on Google/Nexus devices.
If the bootloader is unlockable, then root is pedestrian at best.
Here is mY 2 cents. I literally know nothing about the new pixel phone as I have no interest in getting it. The only thing I do know that I could suggest is number one HTC is a dying company and I believe that's who makes the phone. It seems to be a love-hate relationship depending on who you talk to but in my opinion they make some of the worst phones available. Number 2 the pixel phone is going to be close to $700 where as the 6p is now selling for under three hundred depending on where you go which is a gigantic difference in price. Again I don't know the specs the ins and the outs of the new pixel phone however a $400 price difference and the name HTC would lead me to say go with the 6p. Remember how well the last HTC Nexus device when? Probably not cuz it was basically a pos that nobody gave a damn about

Well I know I'm loving 6p big time after finally being able to get one a couple of weeks ago. It's the gold 64gb one and wow, what a phone that will be hard to beat. I'm working twelves and the phone makes it through the whole shift with ghostpepper profile applied. Anyway like previous post what a deal and for the price of pixel, what a steal. Good luck and thank you.

i know man seems like google is bringing the nexus out of the dev phone spectrum and is targeting it towards the average consumer now with all of this new pixel branding and stuff i don't understand why though as it took them a long time to make the nexus brand popular and now they are ditching it when it's better than it ever was. :/

1.8 rating dude...
I just got a €390 128GB Nexus 6P, new. On ebay from a guy who bought it and had a problem. While he waited for the substitution from Google he bought a different phone and wanted to cash back as soon as possible. I was suspicious but the phone arrived in the box, completely sealed and everything was legit. Sometimes you get lucky (and considering I needed it to substitute my Note 3 who got destroyed in a fall, Spigen case and tempered glass protector notwithstanding... I sort of deserved it).
Pixel XL doesn't convince me. Smaller screen first of all. With screens it's relatively easy to go bigger... but going smaller? Not for me.

Yes, some times you get lucky. I didn't! I started asking questions and out of the blue I received an email from Amazon telling me that the guy canceled the the sell because he didn't have the phone . So I promptly bought a 64GB that is fullfiled by amazon, of course.
Got mine less than a month ago. 390 Euros .. the 64Gb version all bran new.
I don't think it's worth paying 700$ for the Pixel XL for the 32Gb version. Didn't see anything worth wasting money on. No major hardware changes that will make that a good deal.

Oneplus 5 ? Or wait for the 6

As the title suggests I want to upgrade to a oneplus 5 but don't know if I should wait for the six
Do you need a new phone as soon as possible? --> Buy a OnePlus 5/5T
If you can wait and want to show off later --> Buy a OnePlus 6 (or 7 )
The op6 will be launched on june or july, not before
So if you need a phone quickly, buy the 5 or 5T

Personally wouldn't buy another 1+ device, you buy the Oneplus on launch day like i did, obsolete in 5 months, buy the 5T, obsolete come the next quarter.
The 6 will more than likely be followed by the 6T, i'm tired of this, plus the lack of OIS is something i'm never going to commit to again.
So for me, neither, buy the HTC 12 or wait for the next pixel, either way it's not a 1+.
But that's me
PS: if from the 6 onwards it's going to be 1 per year and they fix things like the lack of OIS then yea i'll consider it, but honestly they've burnt their bridges with me at the moment, so long as HTC can actually put out a device with anything close to the battery i get on my 1+5 i'll be happy.
Don't stress! They probably will release Oneplus 5Z in the next week! (Sarcasm)
No but depending on how urgent, wait for the next one. Else go for a 5T

It's not as urgent but I really miss stock android and the ability to root and install roms which is a deal breaker for me since I have a device which can't be rooted.

Lol are you sure mate ? That's been said for some time and yet they're still here not only that but have you actually lived with a HTC phone? When was the last one you owned ? They're absolutely rapid, there is literally nothing bad about the latest phones at all (ish)
The ish is for the one flaw that they always put in, usually the battery but it's the small imperfections which make it have character, the camera has been superb in the last few devices, I've had every flagship bar two the one X and the M8, every other I've had and they've all been amazing bar the one fault
I didn't like the 11 so went with the 1+ but the one thing I'd loved to have had is the camera which is up there with the pixels, the HTC 12 if rumours are to be believed then it'll be a beast, ois, great camera, 845, lot of memory, probably an SD slot.
5/5T are great phones. you won't be disappointed with anything about them (maybe up to 2-3yrs).
there are some concerns with their cameras, but in my opinion, you can take some great shots w/ them, comparable to S8/Note8.
Best Performance, Good Display, Good Cameras, Great Selfie, And a lot of community support... What else you need!?

Missing ois, if you've got a tripod all the time the yep it's great, but the lack of ois means it's a deal breaker for me, I didn't think it'd be that bad. Never again man.
As already stated, depends on urgency, features and price. I personally would buy a 5T and not worry about the 6 so much. This is because the 5\5T is fast enough and since you are going to mess around with custom roms and kernels, the ported GCam with portrait mode makes world of a difference to the picture quality. However, even with out GCam, I dont really care too much about picture quality, I dont really take that much pictures anyway. The value for money is already here with the 5\5T and from current trend with OnePlus, the 6 will most likely be more expensive.
To be honest (you would of heard this a million times now), its all about what you want out of your phone and how much you willing to pay for it. There is no one phone that is best for everyone. The thing I will say is one of the best value for money phone is the OnePlus 5T and you will probably get the majority agreeing with that statement.
Just wait for the 6, only 5 month is really a little waiting time

Essential PH-1 vs Essential's Next Phone

All,
I am in the market for new phone. I am trying to decide what to do. I really the like Essential PH-1 after using both Nexus and Pixel phones. I'm on my backup Nexus6 phone after my Pixel decided to no longer boot.
I am not in a rush to get a new phone and have been doing some research. It appears Essential may be releasing a new phone in the next couple of months.
Would you get the PH-1 or wait it out for the next phone?

You can always wait for the next thing.
Even if announced in the next few months, it probably won't be avail for another 3 months.
Can you wait six m months before you get a new phone?
If the answer is yes, then wait.
You might have to wait until August. The next phone will have a better camera. It does the job for me.

Has there been any hint on size of phone? I definitely do not want a phone as large as the Nexus 6. It is just too big.

My only issue with getting the PH-1 now is that in another year, Essential will stop sending OS updates. That to me is possibly worth waiting.

They indicated the 360 camera would still be functional.
I doubt that they are going to increase size dramatically.

The updates have been fast and furious on the PH-1 so far. And it is sooo much smaller than a Nexus 6. That you will love.
Low light camera is the only downside to PH-1, and I haven't even installed the Google Cam, shame on me.
8.1 is brilliant on this device.

I completely agree. I've only had mine for 3 days, but it's been solid for me, and the form factor is perfect. I'll probably play around with root / camera stuff in the next month, and it's evident that Essential listens and releases updates to try and fix issues. That is rare.
I use the oem camera app for black and white photography which it does brilliantly and the GCam port for everything else, great combo imho. Love the phone, it's superb on 8.1

Do you have a phone budget? PH-1 has been selling on a discount vs new. The next model will surely be back in the $700+ range. If you want a good daily phone running the latest Android, its not a bad choice. If you arent afraid of lightly used phones, you can get ones in mint condition on swappa for low $300's. Good value if you are into that sort of thing.

Yeah, I doubt the next phone will be a $400 phone.
They will have learned. They might keep the PH-1 in a single color to have a low end phone, then have the new phone as a flagship.
Who knows? It most definitely won't be this cheap.
I have to agree with the sentiment hare. It's a very good deal right now for a great handset. Updates are better than Sony, which is saying something, and they seem very responsive to fixing issues. Plus, development is just starting to get some traction.

It really wouldnt shock me to see them adopt the 3 year os update pact that google started with the pixel 2 xl.

I'm not expecting the phone to be cheap. I want it to be great. I'm really impressed with their design so far and I like the fact that essential is producing better design with the same OS update model.
I do not want another manufacturer because of all the bloatware that is installed.
