No music or call control with Samsung earbuds - X Play Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I dont really use earbuds to much but had older samsung buds and was using them. Received a call and realized I cant answer and calls, also cannot control spotify at all. The single button on the mic does work but the play only brings up the app selector which is only google or moto voice. I tried using headset control apps like JAYS but no dice. I know I have other earbuds around but cant find them to try. Does anyone else have issues with ear bud control with the play? Do I need to use a specific type of buds?
Thanks.

All earbuds aren't compatible with play or (for the info) every android device.

Haven't you heard the news?
You can't make audio/video calls on Skype yet, no microphone is supported as of today.
You can only use it for IM.

It has been said a lot about those mics in that thread, but the OP made 2 different opinions about using skype. The other users only used those mics with Voice Recording(Tape-a-talk app I think), nobody was able to make a call with skype.
Could you please share your experience with the 3 pins microphone? (I haven't got any of them so I can't try)

Crashes for me as well. I was hopeful given the threads about 3 pin mic support. I have extra headsets--if you dm I'll send you one.
I only tried voice calling the Echo / Sound Test Service, and it doesn't crash. However, it does just hang up after it rings.
I was able to launch the Skype apk attached to this thread successfully. It allowed me to make an outgoing call with the Fire and using the Edutige EIM-001 mic, but it disconnected the call a second or two after I picked up the call on my cell. I wasn't able to hear my voice when I called my cell since it disconnected so quickly. Unfortunately this is a mic only with a TRRS connector so the speakers are disconnected when it is plugged in. I am going to do some tests to see if I can rig the mic to work without causing Fire speaker disconnect. I still have to test with Google Voice.
I would be interested to know about it very much. So far I have no luck to make a call using mic
I been working on the mic problem all night. So far I think this tablet is missing something. Skype loads but wen making a call it does not see a mic at all.
Changing settings I have got the mic to work with a recorder for a test done a 20 min voice test no problems at all. But other apps like talking tom so on give error of no mic found.
Still working on this but not seeing what the problem could be.

I have a successful call using Google Voice but unfortunately only one direction
I mean I could make a call and the other party could receive this call. The problem is that I could hear what that party talk but I can't get his voice. It looks that it works only incoming direction ... but it looks to me that mic itself is ok.
Anyone has has better experience?

What are the changes that you made? Were you using a standard headset mic?
Sounds promising....
I did no changes. I used mic: Universal 3.5mm In-Ear Stereo Headset w/ On-off & Mic for , HTC myTouch 4G Unfortunately I don't have enough technical knowledge to resolve the issue although it sounds promising

Yes bro. I have ticked mediq settings in BT.
I've found that rom / kernel combo's make a big difference. I'm currently using wanam on Franco kernel. I've had nothing but issues with cm10/aosp/aokp roms even though their my preference.

Make sure your bt device is stereo not mono. As much as I read about it, mono bt devices can't play audio in Android..

Thanks mate, I am glad you like it and no, it wont work if its mono.. There are few apps to do the task on google play, you may want to check your luck there although none worked for me.. Search for btmono or something like that.

[Q] BT Audio HELP! feelin like a noob....

I can connect to BT wireless speakers however the sound ALWAYS comes from the phones speaker, and NOT the wireless speaker. I know I'm syncd and everything is checked for Media Audio Device in the BT settings.
SOOOO.... What gives?? I am stumped. I have tried the Sammy music player and clicking "via bluetooth" - nothing. I have tried poweramp which has an A2DP setting - nothing. Same speakerphone BS.
I feel REAL stupid. I have flashed, rooted, un-bootlocked my Note 2, use TWRP, etc so it's weird for me not to figure this out.
Please help community!! I am on stock rom roooted via the "just twrp + stock MDL" mod (credit would be given but I forget whom on this forum typed that one up - sorry).
and I have searched google and this forum high and low to no results.
Thanks!

Have you tried deleting and repairing the device? Sometimes this works when BT problems arise.
I have done a factory and data reset, But I'm not too sure what you mean by repairing the device. If you could explain an elaborate more on that I appreciate it! Thanks
Re-pairing the device after you have unpaired. But you already covered that by doing a full reset.
Do the speakers work with a different BT source?

ill try it out but that is not acceptable to me. The gs4 shouldn't need a third party app (and I haven't tried it yet but it says mono so I'm assuming its not even stereo quality).
Obviously other ppl with this phone don't have this issue or it would be mayhem. There would be questions asked in all the forums and review ssites would have mentioned a bt bug. I think I will go to the store and get an exchange.
FWIW my note 2 connected/paired with anything I threw at it! Can't wait for the note 3
I stream Bluetooth audio via my car stereo and Bluetooth speakers at work everyday and have never had an issue.
That being said try a different music player and see because I have heard of that being an issue.

You are literally the ONLY person who has said that about the watch...is there some way you could post a video or something? Not saying I don't believe you. not trying to be mean either....just that its rather odd everyone missed this.
If it does indeed have a speaker, I'm sure SOMETHING can be hacked to allow calling from the watch, might take a while, might even have to be a hack on the PHONE rather than the watch, no idea...

I got a nice idea btw...
Voice in->Watch microphone
Phone->Voice Out->Headphones connected to phone.
Anyone? Would this work right away? right now if you connect headphones to phone you can hear call audio through headphones but saying anything doesn't work at all, cuz headphones don't have mics.

That's nothing new. And yes it will work straight away, just connect both bluetooth devices and set to use the watch as mic and headphones as speaker.
The watch does not show up as a mic in Android BT settings. And I don't know of any BT profile that have audio in without having audio out too.

Sure they can. They also make adapters so you can use a microphone with any set of headphones.

I'm very iffy about these kinds of things. I usually use a DAC which is connected to my headphones. Again, the point is not that there are alternates but that this is an option I would like to have, I use very expensive audio gear, I'd hate to ruin that experience with an inline mic-adapter thing (or buy one with good wiring, which would cost reasonable amount of money...etc).

Well aren't you hard to please. With high end audio hardware as you say, I really doubt an adapter or inline microphone is going to be the quality 'bottleneck' (for lack of a better term) when we're talking about a watch or phone...
This is all possible, but I mean...look at the level of development this will take. You'll be changing the fundamental way the watch is meant to function...all so you can use it in a way where there's already existing alternatives (e.g. the tizen galaxy gears). I don't really see anyone tackling this. Voice messaging, sure...but not live access to the mic for two-way communication.
Is "to look /feel cool" a valid reason then?

Sounds like a good enough reason to try it yourself

Please One question just keeps me from buying the phone.

Please answer
When you lock the microphone slot with your finger and talk via a Bluetooth microphone, is there a sound.
Please experiment with WhatsApp, lock the microphone slot with your finger and send an voice via a Bluetooth microphone and listen to it.
Question in another form, Does the Bluetooth microphone support third-party programs?
If the experiment is done. Did have android Pie or Oreo.?
Thanks

I've used two different Bluetooth headsets and the mic works fine. I can leave my phone in my desk drawer and walk to the other side of my house and still talk to on the phone with the Bluetooth headset. I tested this with the phone app (phone call) and Discord. No issues ever with Bluetooth, it works perfectly. Every app I test works flawlessly. This was on Android Pie as that is the only version available for the 6T here.
