Fingerprint unlock still not working for US? - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S7 Questions & Answers

I have an AT&T model and after the update I still can't unlock my phone via fingerprint. Are all US versions missing this feature?

I thought it was built in

Apparently it is working fine for international models. I have the option to use fingerprints to unlock my device but it absolutely will not work

Works just fine for me and I am using a US version. Silly question, but have you gone through the process of registering your print with your phone?
Also, you can't unlock using a fingerprint after a reboot but you should be able to any other time.

Yep, I had the fingerprint set up right but I failed to set my secure lock setting as it was set to lock after 10 mins. I was testing it immediately after rebooting. It works now with the proper lock time set, lol

never missed a beat to me. I've always used the fingerprint unlock

Same here, I've got four fingerprints set up & it's not working for me. I've tried setting the fingerprints up several times & once after a reboot, still no go.

The default secure lock time on my device was set to 10 mins. Did you change that? After I did so, it worked

Don't know what I did, but the fingerprint scanner works now. After I swipe the lockscreen, it asks me for pin or fingerprint.

[Q] Forgot PIN. Solutions other than reset?

I have stupidly forgotten the PIN on my Nexus 4. I would really rather not reset the phone and lose data. Are there any ways to bypass the lockscreen or to backup the data?
Thanks,
Liam
I sincerely hope not.
you can keep trying to unlock and when it locks you need to unlock the phone with you google account password you used to activate the phone. you will still need you sim pin to be able to use your sim card but your provider can unlock that one for you

LOL! I see where you're coming from. But there might be some time-consuming, hacky way to do it.

The 'forgot pattern' button only appears with pattern unlock. There is no 'forgot PIN' button in Android.
Keep entering wrong pattern. After many tries it will block you and you will be able to use reset password feature.

Are you sure this is true? Or is that just a guess?
I've got up to 65 tries and there is still no button.

Well. Then you have no choice but to reset. I'm sorry!
This wouldn't have been the situation if you would've been rooted.

Any Solutions That Work for WiFi Tether

I can confirm the FoxFi does not work. The minute the phone recognizes there is bandwidth going to the connected devices it shuts down the feed and gives you the VZW nasty gram.
Has anyone got anything working?

Used to use portable wi-fi hotspot and just ignore the not subscribed message and it worked on the SGS4. It doesn't seem to work on here though.
unfortunately it looks like root is our only option once it comes out

Works perfectly however it will require a pin unlock all the time or installing certificates and uninstalling after done.

I just leave an easy 4 digit pin on all the time. Not worth the hassle of disabling and re-enabling it all the time.
I have to say I am fine with the 4 digit pin as a trade off... definitely not ideal... but I will take it in exchange for a working hotspot.

Unlock the phone after rebbot: why password AND fingerprint?

Hi
I would like to only use my fingerprint same with previous model. But with the S7, each time I switch off/on the phone, I am first prompted to enter a password, then the fingerprint will work till the next switch off/reboot. Is there a way to take rid of that password? I would like it to be prompted only in case fingerprint does not work.
Thanks
Phil
Marshmallow feature I believe. Nexus 6P does the same.

I think this is for extra security when the device has been switched off. I don't see a problem with entering your password once every restart, it takes a few seconds.

Galaxy S5 does the same thing on custom Marshmallow ROMs
Thx guys! So, new android feature... Cheers

Yup. This actually good. As a tech you'd be surprised how many people forgot those passwords.

Can't disable Lookout after PD7 update

I've been having some issues with my S7 edge, so I exchanged it with T-Mobile. I got the replacement phone and updated it all the way to PD7 without doing anything. I just started disabling a bunch of apps and realized Lookout can't be disabled anymore, even though it's disabled on my original S7 edge. I tried Package Disabler Pro, but the app is saying that it can't be uninstalled. Any ideas?
Disables for me. You might want to try a factory reset. That's what I always do whenever an update or phone replacement comes. Granted I only have about 6 apps on my phone so it's a quick set up lol

When did you disable it though? I have it disabled on the older S7 edge, but I get the feeling that T-Mobile blocked new users from disabling it in PD7.

Ahaha I missed that part somehow
I guess I'll try a factory reset :/
You can disable it if you first disable it through settings - lock screen and security - device administrators first.

A ROM where everything works?

I have been doing some searching and it doesn't look like there is a ROM out there where everything works. Mostly I need fingerprint and wifi calling to work. Second screen working would be nice but it isn't as important as fingerprint and wife calling.
anyone have any suggestions? am i missing something?
thanks!
