Insurance via Verizon asurion - Nexus 6P Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey, I have a Nexus 6p and if I need to do a insurance claim and have Verizon asurion insurance will the claim go through like normal?
Sent from my Nexus 6P using XDA-Developers mobile app

I am fairly certain that insurance only covers devices purchased through Verizon on your contract. Don't quote me on that though.

I don't understand how would you claim insurance on a device in which you have no insurance on. It's not insurance for any device that sim is used in.

That's what I was trying to say in my first post haha. Yeah. I'd say if he is not using the insurance with Verizon (since his phone is not eligible) I would remove it and go with maybe square trade or another company since you don't need to pay for insurance you can't use.

Anyone planning on buying a warranty?

OK so I bought my nexus 7 thru staples yesterday. I usually don't buy store warranties but they suckered me into getting a 1yr warranty with accidental coverage for 40 bucks. He said as long as I don't activate it I can return it. Now I can say my nexus seems fine. No screen lifts or dead spots so I think I lucked out there. I'm just wondering if that warranty is worth holding onto. Will these notorious issues pop up later in ownership? I mean honestly its a piece of mind for like less then 3 bucks a month I guess.

No one knows. This is googles first tablet and I believed they rushed Asus to produce this in 4 months. Only time will tell.

Should have went with a Square trade warranty. They are doing a special right now where you can get 2 years accidental coverage for $40

Sweet didn't even think of them. Looks like ill go with that instead since both warranties have no deductible.

I typically stick with Sprints insurance for the fact that it covers lost/stolen,water damage and in store repair/replacement availability

Can I RMA my nexus i got from Craigslist

i need to get a replacement nexus because this one has crazy heat issues. I bought it used off craigslist. Can i get a replacement??

If you got the bill. Sure.
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda premium
No, warranty is non-transferable in normal circumstances. Call Google for clarification, though
It was purchased from a T-Mobile store if that matters

Why should it? If he owns the bill everything should be okay. Sold a phone once wich still was in warranty period. Just copied the Bill and everything was OK.
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda premium
Might work that way in the US, but in the UK a warranty isn't always transferable regardless of having the original POP because the device is technically 2nd hand and most warranties state it's for the original purchase only - definitely that way for the company I work for. If the original owner registered the unit for warranty then you're screwed. If not, you might be able to get away with it
I live in the us. Any way to check online?

Yes you can...I had a similar issue...bought off craigslist...screen had major flicker issues....if you get a hold of the person who sold you the phone and have them give you the receipt..then you can RMA it only through LG because its from t-mobile...mine was bought from google so google has the RMA processed.
Ya bought one from kijiji Toronto on wondering the same thingHe bought his from the play store...
Okay so let me update this so i can get a better answer. The phone i am needing a replacement on is a phone i got from craigslist. i don't have the receipt but the phone had never been turned on before i was the one to open the box. I don't have the receipt for the phone. So please someone who had been through this before can you give me some insight

If you did not purchase the device from Google Play you'll have to contact LG for warranty service. http://www.lg.com/us/support-mobile/lg-LGE960
If its from T-Mobile call customer care and get a warranty exchange if your phone line has the the device warranty.

anyways, real answer.... dont quote me on this because im not 100% sure, but i believe any device with an IMEI can be blacklisted and this goes across carriers. IE: get blacklisted on tmobile, itll be blacklisted on att also. someone correct me please if im wrong

I would guess technically they could block any IMEI number they wanted. Sort of like MAC filtering on a network.

Never stolen anything in my life. My friend wants to buy one from CL but is afraid the seller might report it lost later on and tmobile then blacklists the phone. However i read that this phone cannot be blacklisted since it comes unlocked...
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda premium
Yes the phone can be blacklisted. Tmo and Att are suppose to have a database so phones , with Verizon and. Sprint joining the database later this year

I have sold and bought a few phones on CL and never had a seller call and report it stolen. Not saying it won't ever happen. I do always get a receipt with price and name and signature of the seller. Every time.

Yes but i was expecting this to be about the illegal LTE usage.

How come your friend just doesn't get it from the play store? It's a lot safe.
Again what everybody else says, a buyer can report it stolen if they want to (or if the device was stolen and resold in the first place).

Definitely. Swappa and eBay are also good sources. Just make sure to use a bit of good logic and common sense and there shouldn't be a problem with either. Hell, I bought my mint N4 off swappa, got it in 2 days, and it was as mint as mint gets. Same goes for when i bought my galaxy nexus, except that was on ebay.
I could be wrong, but the only blacklisted phoned I've ever encountered, and this has only been recently I've started even seeing this, are phones that were bought on the subsidized plans and then the contract wasn't fulfilled.

any device that is registered on any network can be blocked/blacklisted by the account holder or if the EIP isn't paid off on a cancelled account. the IMEI is then unable to be used on any carrier within the US. You can still use the device in Canada or overseas with a local SIM card. the blacklisting is only here in the States.

What's the point of doing that? Unless they have an insurance of some kind it doesn't make any sense.

Yeah I understand that but in my experience T-Mobile won't kill the IMEI on a stolen phone without a few things in check first...like a police report and stuff. I live in Philadelphia, you know what its like calling the cops and filing a police report for a stolen cell phone lol...

The seller sold me a working phone, few days later reported it stolen. So he profited off me and also got a new N4 for a small deductible.

Yeah with a police report. That's law here in PA at least. I assure you of that, had a phone stolen out of my business last year, called T-Mobile...wouldn't even replace it on my insurance without a police report.

Warranty on verizon version

I have the verizon g2 and I wanted to get the warranty on it. The issue is I'm not using it on verizon. When I call they ask me for a verizon account. I told them that I bought the phone in full with no contact and didn't activate a verizon account. I said its unlocked and I'm using it on lycamobile. The cs now thinks I jail broke my phone so I explain to them that androids can't be jail Broken. By unlocked I mean it can be used with any carrier. And newer verizon phones are already unlocked. They get confused and just start making stupid excuses so I hang up. Is there anything I can do to get warranty on it because the manual says it has 1 year manufacture defect warranty on it. Any ideas what to do? Would it work out better if I went to a store or would they still need an account and stuff. Because I don't have receipts or anything since I bought it off eBay.

You should hope that the person from eBay has your receipt unless they are an actual vendor then that receipt for the purchase should be enough for a manufacturer warranty. Manufacturing warranty normally only covers the original/first buyer. Good luck though I'm not sure LG will cover your phone but they should.

Anyways I talked to lg and they said If I can get the receipt from the seller I'll have warranty they just need proof of purchase and they said I can deal straight with them or through verizon so I'll see if the guy will send me a pic of the receipt if he still has it
