So I flashed ICS and it was running somewhat well but I usually restore back to stock after I play around with it... anyways last night I passed out with it still in ICS and now it won't show anyhting. I press the power and the light stays green for a second then goes off and that is it. Also if I plug it in while it is green it stays green. Please, if any one can help I would greatly appreciate it. And yes, I know I was stupid, this is all my fault.
Hold the power button for 30 seconds to force shutdown. Then power it on as normal.
OR
With the KF connected via USB and adb set up properly, run "adb reboot".
It sounds like a bug with the screen not waking up.
You are my hero!
My nexus 4 died. Can not boot. No respond but only red flash when plugged in with charger. I already unlocked my phone.
any one can help me?

Thats the RED light of death. Its a battery problem. Some people have opened their phones and fixed it somehow. I suggest you get a RMA.

Im not 100% sure but since what you did, did not cause the RED led they should fix it. Unless something you did made that happen. When did this happen and how?
Put it on charge overnight. It should boot into recovery.

Hmm, you might of done something wrong.. Why would you leave it while it was rooting? I dont know what to do. Maybe you did something to the battery. Since you say it was very hot the battery might of overheated and died. Was it hot throughout the phone? Or just the top section. You could always but a battery and replace it yourself.

It's just the top section. Maybe I did something wrong. The phone showed the battery logo for one second. But back to Red light then.
Charge it the whole night with another charger, not stock

I will try that. Thanks
I believe some have fixed thier problem by pressing down where the battery connects to phone
Plug it into a USB slot on your computer and repeatedly try and get into recovery. Worked for me when I got the red light. When you do get into recovery leave it there a while to charge.

Is there any way of avoiding this red light of death issue. I am worried that it will happen on my Nexus

If you have adb access, boot to recovery there.

I got red light of death and believe me I understand how it feels.
Good news: You can come out of it
1. Plug into wall charger for 1 hour or so. Make sure the wall charger has has at least 5V and 0.7 A, lower than that can not make sufficient charge.
2. After one hour of charging, the red light should go off (It's ok even if its RED light is glowing)
3. take out the charger and press power + Vol Down
4. Holding above two buttons, insert your charging USB to phone
5. The red light should blink and after a while you should be in boot loader.
5.1. If it doesn't do it again (Holding above two buttons, insert your charging USB to phone)
5.2. If you are not getting it after say 15-20 tries, leave it for charge for some more time and then try
6. Once you are in boot loader screen, don't let the screen turn-off, that is every 20-30 secs keep pressing vol button.
7. After 2 mins, chose reboot option and your phone should reboot, you can see zero battery
Bad News: Even though you will come out of RED Light of Death, the battery will become very weak (Very!!) and if again it turns off due to low battery it will go to RED Light of Death again.
If you have warranty and you are rooted, flash Google Firmware when you are in fastboot and claim your Warranty.
Sadly, I am in Singapore and using US set, so I can't do that.
Let me know if it helped.
Hi,
my n10 works great except the odd time when I try to wake it up and it's completely non-responsive, just showing me a black screen.
I'm unlocked , and rooted, running CleanRom. Is this device related or rom?
Cheers

Device is on - as I said it's not waking from sleep with the power button.
Confirm.
Strange thing - sometimes notification LED blinking.
How are you guys determining its on?
I had a defective N10 and experienced similar things. Another user taught me a trick: When you see the led flash but can't turn on the screen try plugging in a charger - if the battery charge icon appears, its not actually "on"...

My RMA experience was pretty good. It was a Thursday afternoon I phoned Google, and had the second device the following Tuesday. Although I don't like that they put a charge hold on your credit card for another $500 which isn't the fastest to come off, the benefits outweigh that single negative. You don't have to pay for shipping, youre never without a device, for a while you have two devices so you can compare (if needed), shippings decently quick.

This "black screen of death" has just happened on my Nexus 10. My device is unlocked, rooted, with CWM and CM10.1 and stock kernel. EDIT: the battery was full (~80%)
I was using Perfect Viewer and the screen suddenly went black. I've tried holding the power button alone and with the volume buttons pressed for up to 1 minute and nothing. Tried to do the same while charging and while connected to a computer. I also tried to connect the USB cable while holding the power button. Nothing worked so far.
Is there any way to send commands such as "reboot' or "shutdown" while connected to a computer? (something like the way fastboot works on linux)
Maybe removing the battery might work, what you guys think?

I just held the power button for about 30 secs and then it rebooted fine. Maybe a different issue then
I've had the same issue this morning on a 4 day old nexus 10. Its actually the 3rd time this had happened. Stock os and 2 accounts setup.
I'm also getting random scan lines on display.
Gonna RMA mine. Can you only call Google or can you rma online?
You can call or email them. Good luck!
The phone was 96% battery, and then it suddenly turn black, and I can't turn it on again and cannot boot into the bootloader.
When I plug it to the charger, no matter what combination of buttons I tried, my nexus 4 only get a blink red light (no light when charging, only holding the button and charge at the same time will get a blink red light)
I have search over the forum and internet, and tried all their suggestion, all I get is just "only holding the button(no matter what combinations) and charge at the same time will get a blink red light. Any idea?
p.s. the blink red light became "not blink" when I tried the following:
1. Disconnect phone from charger
2. Hold power and volume up for 1 minute
3. Keep holding the two buttons and charge
4. Start blinking red light, after a while it doesn't blink, only red light on
However, when I repeat the above steps, it still blink only.
p.s.2 when plug into the computer, and holding power and vol-, red light is on, no blink, but after a while, the light will turn off

Dude, dont worry.
You were doing some procedure when it happened?
If you were doing some flash procedure, then you will have to do the process again.
The computer recognizes it?

Sound like the red light of death? leave it plugged into the charger for a few hours preferable overnight and see if it comes back to life,
I wouldn't open mine up like the suggestion here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=40761156 until it was a last resort, but if you cant get a replacement from Google then maybe worth a try.
At last I sent my phone to LG, they said it was the motherboard problems.
Thanks for the help!
Okay. All you have to do is make sure it is charging while the red light is blinking because that is what fixed my phone. If it was at a really high level of battery when you were last using it, then it might be a battery problem.

Hi,
I just got Shield TV. Everything works fine so far. Then suddenly it happened today. When I put Shield to sleep green light stays on. I don't have any USB accessories attached to the Shield.
Any ideas?
Thanks!

I had this before too. My shield is rooted, don't know what exactly helped, but it's gone for a while - I'm doing time to time restart and also sometimes cleaning some unnecessary junks like dalvik, cash etc with root cleaner app (and there need root privileges)

Mine is stuck on right now as well.
For me after few resets it works fine. I'm not sure if it will not come back.
Try turning it off fully by keeping your finger on the Nvidia 'button' for around 8-10 seconds. Ignore the pairing screen and eventually you will see an Android message about the system shutting down. Power it back on and, once booted, see if it's still giving the same issue. This forces a graceful shutdown rather than when you pull the power cable, assuming that's what you have tried.

Hey all,
did anybody solve this issue?
I am running full android on the Shield TV and after some time the screen gets black but the green light always stays on.
Even when I power off the device with my harmony smart control hub (puts the SATV to sleep mode) the green light stays on..
I already restarted several times and also forced shutdowns - didn't change a thing.
Has anybody an idea how to solve?
Thanks!

I already tried that and even tried another TV... didn't change anything
Does the green light also goes off when the device goes into sleep mode automatically (after 2 minutes e.g.)?
My biggest concern is that the device isn't going in a correct sleep mode so that it drains a lot of battery...
