Rebooting every time I download big files - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge Questions & Answer

When I download anything from direct downloads or tormenting my phone will glitch and take forever to unlock and sometimes freeze with my always on clock on and I have to do a reset by holding all the buttons or it will just randomly restart.
This is very annoying since I use my phone to download lots of things.

Factory reset, swap SD cards, call for a replacement. Sadly without any form of root that's 99% of the troubleshooting.

Note keeps restarting, but no like other threads!

Hi,
I have my Note since 2 months ago. It restarted, but only 4-5 times a WEEK. Yesterday, I was browsing Internet and Note restarted. 'Ok, normal I said'. The phone turned on and I entered Internet. Again, it restarted. I wait the phone to start, and when I was unlocking it, it restarted. And restarted, and restarted, and restarted. So I take the sd off and turn on the phone. No problems. Then I put the SD card. Turn on the phone. No problems! Until now. Same happened. Same I did. It restarted only 1 time, then no problems. But I pay too much for this phone (in the country I live) and with my old Ace it didn't happened! It's annoying, EVERY TIME I TURN OFF THE PHONE AND THEN TURN IT ON, RESTARTS! And I have to take off the battery 2 times, put it 2 times, wait for the phone two times, and put the sd card. It's really annoying!! Someone can help me?

I wouldn't say any of that is normal. I think you should consider making a warranty claim.

What ROM are you on? Maybe try reflashing stock ROM on your phone?
I think you can try factory reset if you are on gb or some other safe rom if on unsafe room please don't do reset coz of brick bug

Are you on a custom ROM?
Of not then I'd just get it sent back as it not something you have done.

I didn't root the phone, and it has the original Gingerbread 2.3.6.
I had this issue before. Mine was caused by a wifi management app that i used. Issue disappeared after i uninstalled it. The app is "auto wifi"

If you're completely stock, and still on Gingerbread....and you're ABSOLUTELY SURE YOU ARE ON GINGERBREAD......like REALLY SURE....
Then do a factory reset and use the phone "as is" without installing any new apps for a week.
If you're good for a week with no reboots, then it's surely an app that's causing it. =)

1. reset to factory since you are on GB
2. reformat the sd card, otherwise replace or remove it then observe.
if it still does that after factory reset and without the SD card, then consider a warranty claim.

Freezing every 3 seconds after 4.4.2 update

I just updated via kies 3 to 4.4.2. My phone has gotten to be incredibly slow. The screen is literally freezing every 3-5 seconds.
I have wiped the phone already once and issue is still there. It's freezing on every screen, settings, home screen. . I have not even linked my Gmail account so no apps there. Literally finished 2nd factory restore as I type and it's still lagging. This is basically unusable.

Issue solved. Removed SD card.

Issue is back. It's not the SD card causing this issue. Any ideas?

Have you tried a different launcher to see if that does it as well?
...
Mine does that from time to time. I boot into recovery and clear the cache files 2 or 3 times, then reboot. Mine did it the other morning trying to come out of sleep mode. It took 10-15 seconds for each touch to show on the lock screen.

Well it's not happening just in the launcher. It's everywhere. Browsing Web, photos, settings...
I may have found the problem to be the S view case. Has anyone else experienced such issue with theirs? I'm using a generic case from eBay. I took the case off and immediately the phones performance was back. And today I put the case back, and immediately it started lagging. I covered the metal terminal with paper and taped it to prevent it from activating and all is good.... Not sure if this is just a coincidence that it happened.... Will have to try out for a few more days. If not, it's going for repair.

My phone restarts itself at night, is yours also behave like this?

I have a weird problem with my note 4. It restarts itself 2-3 times but only at night. It starts at about 3, 4 am and then every hour or so until 7 am. I hear the buzz on every restart. Also my gear fit connects and disconnects every time with a vibration buzz. It drives me nuts!
Do you have the same problem?
I already tried a factory reset, also disabled the automatic sync to the servers. Also formatted the SD card inside the phone and tried to remove it completely but the phone still restarted at night.
I went to the Samsung center- they sent it to the lab and the lab said that the phone does not have any problem at all- but they did not check it at night.
I'm on the latest firmware N910FXXU1ANJ4
Can you help me? What could be the problem? what can I do???
If it happens again...get a video recorder..record the event...show it to samsung..demand a replacement. My device had no problems what so ever when it was completely stock, or after rooting or when using custom rom.
Sent from my SM-N910C using Tapatalk
That is so odd...! What if you tried to video record the phone restarting and show it to the service centre? Maybe with a timestamp so you can stitch together the restarts and demonstrate what happens every night.

I will do what you suggest . I will record the phone on video and show them what it does. This is not normal if I'm the only one who have that problem.
Hope you can exchange a new one
I dont have that problem
I will sue them. This is the only way. Because they are like wall. not possible to prove that you are right
i have same issue but try to factory reset it. remove the sd card if you using one. and noticed it. i work evening shift thats why i noticed my phone boot itself . now after i factory reset o havent encounter any auto restart .

I don't think that there is a solution. There is something wrong with the phone because not all the units faulty. Tonight i will film the phone on video camera to prove it and sue the company. They refusing to refund my money because they claim that the phone does not have any problem.
I have got that issue, but it just turn off by itself while recharging at night
I'm having the same problem with my Moto X 2014. It reboots itself only at nights one or more times. I've trying everything without any success. Did you manage to fix yours?
Thanks!
Do you have any memory management software installed? Some of them kick in when phone is not used for longer time and maybe it deletes something what causes phone to reboot?

If it's only at night whilst charging, it could just be an overheat problem.

Anyone getting random restarts/reboots?

Since I got it, I have had about 5 random freezing and complete restarts. Once when YouTube was playing, the audio froze and produced a horrible buzzing sound then restarted.
I did a factory reset and it has happened twice since. I'm wondering if I have a faulty SD card...
Anyone else?
I got mine on Monday and so far no problems

Do you have an SD card in yours?
That happens on my daughters Nexus 10 tablet, it definitely is YouTube and the high definition videos that cause that, it's unfortunate to hear that is happening on this phone.
No issues here or with YouTube. Yes i have sdcard.
yea! same here. i have random restarts!!! i thought it's just me. and I have SD card inserted.
this was me playing games... Fate/Grand Order in particular... i don't have sound on, so I don't know if what's happening...
the phone just goes black, and then the samsung boot logo starts.
I have no issues with g935t w/ sd card
my restart doesn't happen often, maybe like once every 2 day... and almost always playing games or was just playing games... i wonder what's wrong X_X
Only had one freeze and that was when it first booted and was restoring apps. I was uninstalling apps at the same time it was installing them and it froze for like 10 seconds. Other than that no issues.

No freezing so far. I've had my S7 Edge since Tuesday and I'm using my same SD card that was in my S5. I've watched YouTube several times as well as played several games ranging from Mobile Strike to GTA Vice City.
same here. I got my s7 edge on Wed eve. setup everything. No Issues then. next day morning on the way to work, it got restarted for the first time. While walking to Office, it restated couple of times. no specific pattern to it. If I try to do anything, it gets freeze and after few seconds, it restarts.
Couldn't check if it got restarted while at work. but again in the evening, I made a samsung Pay at a store and while driving back, it got restarted. Then at another store, it keeps on restarting after each reboot. Device gets hot as well. really hot.
Tried factory resetting, but immediately after I log back in, it restarted, at the same place.
I turned on Airplane mode and then device cooled off, and it ddnt restart after that. After 15 min or so, turned off Airplane mode, and device ddnt restart yet when Iam writing this now, almost 3 hours later.
Starnge thing is, it never gets restarted at home. it always happens when Iam outside. Something to do with the network? Im on ATT.
another issue, even for small tasks like browsing websites, device gets hot. Hot enough that you will notice.
Not good sammy. Iam a fan of you since 2011 and none of galaxy had issues atleast from day 1.
Iam gona wait a day more, if it still restarts, I dnt want them damn warranty/replacement. Iam gona get iPhone6. I dnt like ios, but atleast it wont die on me like this.
Woah!!! as iam writing this, it got restarted now. WTF! Guys pls stay away from s7 pls!
I had one really random reboot. Next the frone has issues with enabling fingerpring authentication in Play. It stops responding and anter about 15 seconds reboots.
Mine rebooted once during installing all my apps first use
Sent from my XT1575 using Tapatalk
Got one rebbot too.
While installing an app from PlayStore. During paiement, freeze and reboot.
While I tryed again after reboot, freeze again but it passed.
Got an other freeze on chrome an other day.
SD card inside (64gb) from my old phone. Never got reboot on it.

Experiencing Major Reboot Issues

Let me preface this by saying this is my experience. I am passing this off to see if others are experiencing the same thing. I am not dissing this phone because I really like it.
I have seen more than 10 random reboots with this phone. The crazy part is when the phone reboots, I lose settings.... Like a lot of them. I recently experienced and my notification bar started malfunctioning where the settings would not pull up and I could not long press panels. I finally had to factory reset my phone.... After that, it rebooted again this morning while I was listening to the radio.
At this point I am going to have start a log to try to correlate where the problem might be.
This is very concerning. I have never experienced anything like this even with custom Roms.
Please let me know if anyone else is experiencing this.
Sent from my SM-G935T using Tapatalk
I've read that other people are experiencing this too. Hopefully mine doesn't come like this. I would recommend returning it and getting a new one. This is ridiculous that this is happening
Try removing all apps you installed and see if you cant pin it down to an app but if all said and done and phone is stock meaning you installed no additional apps and still see it happen then to me sounds like a Hardware problem and you should return it for a replacement.

My experience was different. I didn't have any random reboot but I did get the phone just hang.
Before my Springbreak trip I was testing out a sport camera and downloaded an app that could remotely control the camera. Everything seemed to be working smoothly during the test. Then when I was done, I shut down the camera, turned off the phone and started packing up.
Then I needed to use the phone, so I turned it on.. it's turned on but I couldn't do anything, the screen was unresponsive.. I couldn't swipe or press anything... I attempted to reboot it... the power button still worked... the reboot menu came on but I couldn't press anything... I still could turn the screen on and off and brought up the reboot menu.. but jsut couldn't do anything with it..
Only one option was available which is to force it reboot by holding Power and Down volumne.
That was weird, especially on a brand new device.
I've seen it reboot a few times, and it is especially annoying when you are trying to show your device off and it reboots...in front of people...randomly. I am not sure if I want to return it just yet because it is a Touchwiz/android bug that I have experienced on other devices as well. It MAY be an app issue but I can't pinpoint it yet.
I was trying to launch my DJI Phantom app and it just hung/restarted - got stuck on tmobile screen and it wouldn't let me do a hard-reset! Had to wait a few mins and it recycled.

Yes, same here. Bluetooth headset with iHeartRadio makes the phone reboot and lose some settings. Maybe a bug with iHeartRadio and 6.0.1.
