So I took the N preview and broke my TWRP install, it refuses to mount system no matter what I put in, how I have the password set etc.. I know it has been covered ad nauseum. I just have not had the time to work on it or revert to factory. Today I got the notification for the new N Preview OTA and I would like to take it but when it downloads and reboots it goes into TWRP and asks me to mount the partition (which does not work). Anyway around this? Any help would greatly be appreciated.
I cannot even get into TWRP, I get stuck on the splash screen. How did you actually get into the menu? Are you using 3.0.2?
I tried on 3.0.2 and 2.8.7.2 (Which is what is currently installed) Both would get passed the menu, neither would mount. I just want to take the OTA if possible!!

Might as well just flash the new image instead of taking the OTA, right? Same effect just one less step?

You can flash the stock recovery too.

NRT - Boots TWRP to flash the stock recovery, and when you can't mount it fails when it does the push. After your suggestions, first thing I tried!! If I don't mount and click cancel I can get into TWRP and it accepts commands from cmd line or NRT but no storage mounted.

Does anyone know if layers can work on the stock firmware on the s7 edge like it did for the lgg4? Also I got exposed working, and fixed the boot loop after flashing engboot. No lag either!

You can disabled the boot loop and heating up by factory resetting your phone after flashing the engboot, once this is done do the entire initial setup but when prompt with hands free activation hold the back button. Go to the play store and download package Disabler Samsung. Now go to settings and activate device, when finished do not hit "done" instead hit the home button. Go to package Disabler and search DM services, disable it and wala! Enjoy!

So I have the 930T ,I flashed the Engboot then phone restarted. After the start up process I went to push supersu via adb, it went through the the whole process and success. The phone rebooted automatically and after it booted I could see the supersu app. Root checker says root not installed correctly and also titanium back up won't detect root. I have downloaded and pushed the files a total of 6 times. I have also wiped cache before the last push, still no root. Any ideas?
Did you try to reflash su

Yes 7 times now.this last time I reflashed the Engboot and did the whole process. Same result.

It's definitely tricky but this works. I've done it to mine 3 times to get everything right. I'm on pd8 by the way.
Here is how I got everything working smooth.
Make sure you have the modified Odin from the original AT&T thread.
Take out the Sim and memory card if you have one. These have caused issues in the past.
Factory reset in recovery. Then boot into download mode. Flash via Odin the 930t pd8 firmware or whatever version you have (from sammobile, 2hr download with a free account) make sure. To use the "Home" csc file. Again we are flashing all the fields.
Now your stock.
Boot up and setup your phone. Still no Sim or memory card. Install kernel auditor, titanium back up and busy box.
Turn on adb mode via developer mode.
ADB reboot download mode.
Flash everything again but this time using " Samsung_G930x_QC_Rooted_boot.zip" in the AP field in Odin.
It will reboot, then once abd is able to see your device. Run the root.bat.
It will reboot after a time.
Once it's back. Install busybox to system/bin, it won't install to xbin.
Use kernel auditor to change cpu governor to "ondemand".
Use titanium back up to freeze "security log agent"
You should be golden.

It's fairly easy, just download flashfire to your device and go to. http://forum.xda-developers.com/xposed/unofficial-xposed-samsung-lollipop-t3180960 and click the download OK your phones browser. The website is for the international variant using exonos but it works the same.

How is the lag? Did you notice any performance loss? I followed the steps in the original thread and had to factory reset after being stuck on the Tmo screen (Huge over site on Tmo to add a white splash screen on an AMOLED screen...). After I flashed SU, superSU would lag like crazy. It would take 2 mins for root requests to popup. I never felt so happy to odin back to stock after that. I didnt think of flashing all odin files and just replacing the AP slot. Maybe that will make a difference?

I had the same problem all is good now just let your phone rest so it can learn battery usage and download no frills cpu or any goody kernel tweaker and change govn. To interactive this will help lag. You just have to let phone sit it will fix itself.

You're currently in the "Question & Answers" sub-forum. Look in the "ZTE Axon 7 ROMs, Kernels, Recoveries, & Other Development" sub-forum.
I don't think you can root this device without a full wipe. Every time I've tried it comes up with enter security password on the first boot.
As we don't know what the security password is, the ONLY way to fix is a factory reset from recovery, or a wipe of data partition if you have TWRP, which basically amounts to the same thing...
Also, every root method I've seen says you will need to wipe data....

Ah darn, maybe I'll just backup the internal storage and data before doing it. I tried downloading the root tool and backup tool, but it said it was a heuretic virus on Norton and I got pretty spiked up from it. Maybe I should wait for another method in the future.

Its a false positive on the virus checkers, generally comes up as a trojan, my antivirus checker is always bugging me when I try to download. Usually turn off until I'm finished then save it on another server so I can find easily again if needed...

If you are going to wait till the update kick in , you'll probably won't be able to use tenfar tools.
When you have TWRP and then you unlock bootloader using me guide you can easily create a flashable zip without loosing TWRP and Unlock bootloader.
But is just my way of thinking.

Ah alright. If that's the case, then I should probably try it tomorrow or this week at least. I was going to root without unlocking the bootloader for running Ubuntu through a chroot and kernel management of the SD820.
Edit: Just want your opinion on this. Do you think I should backup my data and unlock the bootloader plus get root?

Hi,
Got an Exynos S7E (GT935F) earlier. Wanted to update my BL after rooting and installing TWRP in order to flash a new ROM.
After that flash, my phone keeps on asking for a password (don't have, I used pattern + fingerprint) and I can't use Odin anymore. It detects, but doesn't connect.
What should I do?

Fingerprint is different from the Samsung note 4 original one, that's why it shows that some app are not available for this device and other ones doesn't show up at all.

I was thinking it had to do something with the CSC product code. Using Phone INFO it shows Product code: Not Active and Original CSC Code: VZW all other slots are blank. In playstore it shows United States as Country and Profile. Thank you for your input.
Are you rooted using SuperSU? If so then uninstall and install Magisk through TWRP and also the Magisk app as that allows you to hide root from a large number of apps.

Thanks for the reply. Rooted through magisk, it was a clean wipe, used unSU to make sure it was gone completely then flashed magisk through twrp, even used magisk hideprops for fingerprint, magisk hid google play services, playstore, ect. Only way ive worked around getting those apps is using a twrpvzw rom then using titanium to back up. Not sure what else. Thanks again.
