I have a Verizon Note 3 SM-N900V running stock Android 5.0. I have never rooted this phone. Am I able root this phone as is? Or do I need to go back to 4.4.2?

First, please take the time to use the search function if you want help as most members who know a thing or two about this kind of stuff are not going to help if you are not going to first help yourself.
There are many threads in the Verizon section with guides on how to do so.

Also, at the top of this General forum it states "Do not post questions here". They go in the Q and A section.

Hi there,
Sorry, I am new to XDA.
Is there a root available for AT&T Samsung Galaxy S4 i337 which have been upgraded to 4.3 OTA. The build number ends with MK2 ?
I have looked at other threads but can't seem to find one of those straight forward tutorials for 4.3
Can anyone guide me in the right direction. Thanks.

somone can correct me if i'm wrong, but i dont think there is a safe way to do it right now. There is only vroot kingo, which are both unsafe as one pulls your binaries from your computer and the other pulls your IMEI and sends it to the china server.

Yes there is. I just Rooted mine yesterday. Go to kingoapp.com and download ver. 1.1.5.1792. I had to run through it twice, but now I can utilize the apps I couldn't before, like SuperUser & AdBlock.

Isn't that the same as the Chinese vroot, but in English? Idk if I trust a commercial rooting program.

Mal-Ware exists on vRoot, not KingoApp. It's clean and I have root.
So if i root with kingo will i be able to flash a rom? or does at&t have a locked bootloader?

It is still locked, so no ROMs.

ROOTED ATT MK2 using Tapatalk
Kingo works
I tested also and it works on MK2 4.3:good::laugh:
Kingo Android Root worked just fine for my MK2 build S4. The easiest way on any Android device I've ever rooted.

Please follow this link. Kingo, vroot etc. aren't worth the worry. This method is fast and efficient. Anyone who tells you root isn't worth it doesn't know what they are talking about. At the very least you can delete the bloatware!

Hi everyone,
I have a Samsung Galaxy S4 with AT&T. I'm on Android 4.2.2 and my phone is rooted. I wanted to update to Android 4.4.2 (KitKat) so I went to SuperSU and selected the unroot option. Everything appears to be unrooted (apps that require root access no longer work and I downloaded an app called Root Checker which confirmed that my phone is no longer rooted). My only concern before I proceed with the update is that, when I power on the phone, it shows the unlocked padlock with the words "Custom" underneath it. With that said, is it safe to proceed with the update?
Thanks in advance.
Are you on mdb or mdl firmware I would highly recommend you don't update. You have the ability to flash 4.4.2 roms

If I were in your shoes I'd use a custom recovery and flash a 4.4.2 rom. See this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=42320391

If you don't know you probably didn't back it up. But try to restore in cwm and see if there is a backup there. I'd backup up the device with cwm first though

Yes, the bootloader is unlocked....sort of. If you are on 5.1.1 DOK2 and above, you cannot go back to 4.4.4 or 5.0.1. See the tmobile section for guides for each version of the software but, generally, yes you can flash twrp and then a rom of your choice.
