Using "Netflix for Android TV 2.2 build 636" from the Sony TV APKs on my nexus player
Keep getting the error
"It looks like Netflix has been deactivated on this device"
have to re-login very frequently
Any ideas on how to solve this?
2.2.1 build 643 is on the Play Store, I've only had one forced reactivation with it so far.
But yeah Netflix for Android TV is quite buggy - a lazy port by the looks of it.
I got this Bs twice tonight.. like seriously? wtf is going on

Just got off the phone with netflix
had this happening, literally after every episode tonight. after troubleshooting everything at my house, thoroughly, I spent about an hour going through things with netflix support. apparently this is a known issue and for now there was no resolution. he said give it some time and check back if not resolved after having been escalated to tier 3 support.
Yeah it was quite bad, I noticed it seemed to be triggered consistently just after autoplaying a new episode - always within the first 30 seconds - but not after manually picking the next ep.
yup same here. honestly, I bought my dad a fire TV and myself a nexus and this nexus is garbage compared to the fire TV.. especially since I'm a prime member. I might just buy a fire TV and sell this pos.

Keep getting it too.
Really annoying.
Thought it was because I'm using it through a VPN / UnoTelly DNS but seems like it's just their terrible, terrible app being terrible.

I have a Nexus Player and started getting this about 48 hours ago. It's annoying. Thanks for the workaround... I'll have to try that! I'm sick and tired of having to login after ever darn episode!!!
I do have the same problem, but i use dns4me.
on the help center (for xbox), it says that you should put dns settings on automatic.
Same issue here. Could it be related to IPv6 DNS? I have IPv6 6to4 turned on in my router and the IPv6 DNS is visible in the settings but no IPv6 adress is assigned for the device in the settings. Also in contact with the Netflix support here in Sweden, they called to US and they will investigate an call back in a few days. What ROM do you others guys use? Stock? I installed CM to be able to mount USB for Kodi.
This just started happening to me last night as well and now I have to keep logging in after every show. Time to hit them up....
I'm in the same boat guys.
I guess the bright side is I finally got around to installing cyanogenmod which of course didn't fix the issue.
I'm having this issues since a week or two. It must be a problem on the apps side only. More and more Playstore reviews and forum posts are coming up about this.
In a netflix support chat, they said that they are already working on a fix for this ... I hope so, because that's really lame.
Just came by to say the same thing is happening to me. Spent an hour on the phone with Netflix tech support, tried everything on my end, still having the same problem. Hope enough people call tech support so they know this is an issue.
i dont watch netflix often on the player, but i have this build and just fired it up and ran a few random videos. i had no errors or forced reactivations. it recognized me from the last time i ran it so it went right to the last played video i just played on my htpc...
stock and never rooted.

The bug is triggered when autoplaying episodes, not when manually selecting them.
Edit: may be related to Settings > Help > Device, UI Build: release-20150707_170-zircon.
Same thing, asus nexus player
Got the exact same thing with my Asus Nexus Player.. 2.2.1 Build 643 of netflix app..
Need to reactivate every time it autoplays i to the next episode.. Manual select seems to br the workaround atm, tho quite annoying
I also have this problem, latest netflix on nexus plater stock rom
Me too. Netflix support just ask to sign out of app, power down the nexus player for a minute, power it back up, sign back in. Seemed to fix it, but then it was doing it again as soon as I actually watched an episode rather than just fast forwarding to the last 30 seconds.
Tried a clearing of the app data, didn't help. Tried a factory reset, that didn't help either.
longer explanation...
ok besides the fact the original episodes of mission impossible and knight rider are no longer on the site (expired licenses), i played one full episode of star trek, the original series (these shows are great background flicks whilst one is doing other things) and i was not forced out or required to sign off/on.
a bit of an aside, i have an ipad i have on my elliptical that i view whilst exercising, and when i would switch from that to the htpc i would sometimes have to re-log back in on the htpc. the error would say something to the effect of i cant be logged onto two different places at the same time, even though both devices (the htpc and ipad) are on the same network and subnet. i just figured the apple app has a different way of signing in. this error just started happening a couple weeks ago (i was using the ipad for months prior), so now i just turn on the television that the htpc is on and just view that whilst working on the machine and not had to re-log into the htpc (which is just the website netflix.com).
The new 5.1 release is fundamentally flawed and does not allow apps to set resolution or refresh rates, plus suffers from HDMI blanking/disconnects when set @ 4k resolutions. None of these problems are present in the previous 3.3 version, and I need to switch back. Unfortunately every time I have tried to go back to the previous official firmware from nvidia, I just get blank screen/no signal. So I am stuck on 5.1.
I suspect this has something to do with the partition sizes/layouts, or some other 1 way change which is preventing the older firmware from booting. Has anyone got any ideas how this downgrade can be achieved?
Thanks in advance
I don't think that is possible. Unless you want to brick your Device.
Well that's what happened when I tried it. Thankfully... (Or, not) I have the Pro version so finding a working SSHD backup image was simple enough. But, I don't think you'd be nearly so lucky with just a non-removable 16Gb eMMC Chip.
I also tried it, from Nougat 5.1 to Marshmallow 3.2 and to Marshmallow 3.3.
Unfortunately, this is not working. Fortunately, fastboot is still accessible and I can get it back to Nougat (I've done it several times, the only time I add a problem, it was because of a suddenly faulty USB OTG cable).
That's unfortunate, because now that I'm on Nougat, I can't managed to find a functionnal version of Skype with my Logitech C920 or C930e webcam (while I had it on Marshmallow, with StockRestyle by @zulu99). I tried both with the standard version and with full android (see this post for more details on Skype on the standard Nougat ROM).
Oh well. At least I know I'm not doing anything wrong when I try and downgrade. I'll just have to stick with 5.1 and hope they resolve the ability for apps to set refresh/resolution.
TBH I'm a little perplexed how it got passed testing @ nvidia. Changing refresh rates to match content source is common video playback functionality, and resolves many jerky playback issues.
Thanks for the input!

Ah, I thought I was the only one with jerky video playback. Let's hope Nvidia resolves it in a future update soon!
Hey guys! I am not able to listen to music or open youtube videos or even do anything related to output of audio of my phone. On Google play music, I get "Couldnt pay tax requested" and on youtube I get playback error. I am not able to make calls as well.
I have flashed numerous images and the issue still persists. If anyone could guide me towards the right direction that would be great.
I bought the phone 7 months ago and suddenly this incident took place. I was running stock 7.1.2 when this happened by the way
Thank you for the help.
First of all, 7.1.2 is a Beta stage not a release.
Second, If you can have sounds on other options such as ringtones and so on, then it is an OS issue and a clean flash might solve it.

Thank you for the reply.
No sound from Ringtone as well. Like no audio is playing on my phone at the moment.

So how can you tell if it isn't a hardware issue and not Android problem?
I haven't heard of what you are describing as being a known bug in 7.1.2. You can try a factory restore but personally I would do a clean flash of the latest stable Google image and see if it fixes your problem. And I would use the flash-all.bat command like Google suggests rather than flash all the parts individually like the Heisenberg guide on XDA tells you to do. I don't suppose you are running any audio mods on your phone? And you checked the obvious? Your phone isn't in Airplane Mode, Do Not Disturb isn't activated, sound shows the various volume levels aren't at 0?
Having same issue, no audio at all from speakers, cant play youtube / googleplay music or videos, headphone jack does not work eighter, wont even detect the headphones, soft reset/ hard reset wont work, havent tryed out rooting and changing rom or reverting from 8.0 (currently running), apart form audio everything works fine, im still trying to figure out warranty as its still in its period, but without proof of purchase they are beeing jerks so far, so im rooted with some ideas is ive had previous experiences with phones, might it be possible for audio drivers to go missing or messed up? or should i take it to a repair shop and see how much theyll ask for it? or shuld i just upgrade to something better and let this brave hero die alone, maybe use as hotspot in my car haha
Hi,
I've been having issues with HD playback on netflix, at first I thought it was netflix at fault but it turns out i's my device.
Apparently I have DRM security level 3 when level 1 is required to enable HD playback.
I know that the S8 ships with level 1 so I'm guessing that I've lost level 1 when I rooted my device, that's all I can think of. I've tried installing stock firmware again, hoping that I'd get it back by that but without luck.
I've read that level 1 requires a locked bootloader even though I'm pretty sure most exynos models ship with an unlocked bootloader so I'm not sure how this even works.
What I'm looking for is a way to get level 1 back so I can enjoy HD playback on my device again. Does anyone know how I could go about doing this?
Thanks
So I've had this problem for a couple/few years already where an update from either android or netflix caused the Widevine certification to read as L1 for Netflix specifically. It says version 15.0.. L3 as opposed to the L1 it's supposed to have, DRM INFO says i have L1 ver 14.0...
I previously worked around this issue with a modded Netflix install that half works but even then sometimes the quality will still drop even though the connection can more than handle the stream. I was hoping that after so much time has passed this issue had been resolved by either party (mainly because at one point, another update had left me without netflix on my phone for almost a year and this was before the L1/L3 fiasco) but no such luck.
In the past I've steered clear of rooting the phone, mainly because everytime i try to get into the spirit of things I either have a hard time finding the files needed or the guides I'm pointed towards seem like details to build a nuke.
I'm hoping i can fix this, and I'm willing to bite the bullet and try to root this phone if needed. Any help would be appreciated.
