Cannot install an .APK file - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge Questions & Answer

Hi,
I have the "unknown sources" allowed in settings but when I click on an APK I have downloaded and the installer comes up, looks like pressing the "install" button does not do anything.
Any ideas what might be the problem?
Thanks,

Ok, found the issue ....
Apparently I'm using "twilight" which requires the "application that appear on top" feature enabled.
Once I removed the permission (temporarily) for twilight to appear on top, the installer worked fine. Weird.

[Q] Cannot instak APKs files

Hey everyone,
I'm facing a problem which is kind of strange, today I tried installing an apk to my nexus 7 3g , the thing is I cannot press on the install button. I enabled install from unknown source already.
The strange thing is I can press on cancel but I cannot press on the install button ... shall i flash the stock again?
I'm on 4.2.1
Thanks
What is the app? Have you tried installing from Play or is this something you downloaded and are trying to side load? Incompatible apps won't install by design.
If the Install button doesn't respond, it means something is preventing the installation. The app may be incompatible or a file may be missing.
Go to setting security .. uncheck verify apps.... .Typing this from memory but i think that is where its at.... This is likely your issue.. Let us know..

Did you look at all of the permissions it is requesting? It won't let you press install unless you've read all of the permissions.

I've been able to install my own apk files until two days ago. Now with the exact same apk that worked before, the Install button won't do anything at all. The Cancel button works fine. I've tried all the steps described in other posts for other devices but nothing works. I haven't changes anything on the tablet but the auto updated do occur.
Has anyone solved this problem yet?
Thanks.
I feel like you have to scroll to the bottom of the permissions list.

[Q] Superuser does not asks for permissions

Hola
I rooted my phone since the beginning, all working well!
Although... when I use a root required app, it just grants the permissions.
There's no window asking for permission of something like that.
I checked the setting from superuser, I checked ''ask permission'' but still nothing.
Any ideas?
Download supersu from playstore, problem fixed.

[Q] [Help Needed] How to remove Applications labeled "NOT INSTALLED"

There are other apps in the applications Manager under the Downloaded Apps that are labelled not installed. I have tried removing them but to no success, I have even tried deleting some of their files from root\data\app and data\app-lib but the apps still exist as black icons still labeled NOT INSTALLED (See the attached Image). How do I remove them. Help Please
[EDIT] I have now noticed that every app I uninstall is added to that list and labelled "Not Installed". If you tap the Application, in storage details:
Total..................8.51MB (Size Depending on App)
Application.........8.51MB
SD Card app......0.00B
Data..................0.00B
SD card data......0.00B
Cache................0.00B
Its practically saying the app has been uninstalled but has left its APK and other junk in the phone.
Help on How to remove all these apps manually by deleting some files or any other method.
[EDIT 2] I solved my problem by using an app from Developer Dark3n from this post

If its on one of your applications pages, simply hold it and slide to the top to "app info" from there you can uninstall the app.
If you hold and slide to uninstall it wont do anything (had this issue before)

You need to download/install Titanium Backup from the playstore
and click MENU button and select "Destroy Market Links".
Reboot the phone and it will not longer display "not installed" apps.
Good luck!

I checked Titanium Backup but isnt that option supposed to unlink all apps from the Market, what about the Apps that I still want connected to Market?
I tried it but it didn't work, tried clean Davlik Cache via Titanium Backup but still the problem exists.

It only un-links apps temporarily then starts all over again linking only
those apps which which are installed.

I get this for a few apps whenever something happened to a hidden folder on my SD card named something along the lines of Android_Secure. (something with secure.)
You can't see the folder on the phone, you need to use a pc to see it.
I have no apps installed on my SD, but when anything happens to that folder, about 20 apps stop working and say 'not installed'.

Would you post the steps you used? Specificly did you have to enter a MSL code before using shortcut master?
Start by rebooting your phone. Then, follow the normal steps for shortcutmaster.
3 dot menu, app explorer, com.test.ltefuncionality, launch, lte apn settings, profit...
no msl required.
did you let you profile upgrade?

Yes, my profile updated after the update which deactivated my hotspot.
I immediately tried shortcutmaster and was able to edit my apns.
I then tried to edit them through the dialer code and msl. I was not able to edit there. They were grayed out.
Then I again tried shortcutmaster and they were grayed out there now too.
I rebooted and tried shortcutmaster and again was able to edit them.
That is why I suggested to reboot first, before trying shortcutmaster again.
after the upgrade reboot. the phone try to upgrade my profile I just press cancel and it work fine

ok guys who ever not able to use shortcut master apk because is grayout.
1. dial ##BRAND#
2. press yes. ( you phone will reboot in about 2 to 3 minutes). just wait ntill reboot. after the reboot just let the phone finishing configure your phone. after it finish. you will be able to use Shortcut Master apk again.

The reason it is greyed out is because it is opened in a background process...due to upgrade...So like it is mentioned above a reboot is necessary...and possibly the ##BRAND#...this just updates profile, prl, and resets carrier installation apps...
Good find...
I'd like to second that the process with shortcut master lite worked for me also. The "APN type" was greyed out for me also but I tapped on it and it let me edit it.
Same for me. Even though "greyed out" was still able to edit with shortcut master. And, here is the interesting part, the wifi hotspot is now working much better than before the Oreo upgrade. Much more stable, not dropping off or timing out like it was before.

Tried this and it worked....Thanks!!
Fascinating.
Initially after the Oreo update, I was able to edit APN settings via Shortcut Master. As of this morning, Shortcut Master opened the APN setting dialog but no go on edit. Nothing greyed out, just dead keys, so to speak. Followed kgbedge's instructions to ##BRAND# and Shortcut Master works just like before. Thank you, kgbedge!!

Hi! Does the phone need to be rooted for this to work? And do I need to have the paid Shortcut Master app?

I'm on Oreo, and received the April security patch the other day.........still works for me. If your APN settings are grayed out, do the ##BRAND# on your phone keypad.
