THX but I have debugging activated and on 4.4.4 I have no "root" and adb entry ... only "check apps from ADB" and this is set and grayed out

Your asking the wrong person lad, I've no idea about this stuff TBH. Just the extreme basics.

try running fix permissions from terminal :
type su(press enter)
fix_permissions(press enter)
And reboot
Then,
try installing the app "cachemate for root users"
from the market, check power clear option, and clear cache
Then try running rom manager, if it still doesnt work, try uninstalling and reinstalling

Download/ extract apk from Google play

I'm trying to install Viber on my tablet but Google play is saying my device is not compatible. Is there anyway I can download the apk from the Google store then move it to my tablet to install? Or extract it from my nexus 4 then move it to my tablet?

Try Googling "viber android apk download"or add your tablet name in the end to be specific. and download the apk, install and if warning shows up just tick 'install apps from unknown sources' then continue installation.Done.

If an app need access to your contact, doesn't matter if you got it from the Play Store or sideload, it required the same permission.
Install on your phone, extract from phone and install on tablet. Sometimes it work sometimes it doesn't.
If your nexus is rooted.
You can use adb to pull it
Adb pull /data/app "full name of apk" "location on pc you want it to go"
Or use a file explorer with root rights to go to /data/app and copy it to your sdcard.

It works on my Wi-Fi only tablet. I just use the same number I had on my phone. When u first open it'll ask for a phone number. You can just use any number that u have access to. It will send a text with a confirmation to that number. Just check the phone and enter the confirmation number on the tablet, then you're good to go.

Thanks for the completely bland and incorrect Guide! Nowhere in that ZIP archive is a file called "CheckBeforeActivation". With many hundreds of thousands of these devices in the marketplace, do your fellow XDA members and GET YOUR FACTS STRAIGHT BEFORE YOU POST!!!:silly:

how come you cant update supersu??
I tried this method to root my device, I have a BBY build. The application says it rooted okay. When I reboot the device and try to install BusyBox it says it doesn't get a response from the device. When I check root with Root Checker Basic it says that the device is not rooted. Any thoughts on what I might be missing?
Is the super user app installed?

2..can i now uninstall the busybox app as its now downloaded the files to the device..
3, is it now safe to uninstall all the asus rubbish on the tablet(what have you uninstalled)

its safe to update it now..before it would remove superuser and you would have to factory reset the re-root
To the OP, it looks like you just reposted the work of twenty-three pin from here:
https://translate.google.de/transla...sts/247110-merry-christmas&edit-text=&act=url
Too bad when you were stealing someone else's work you didn't work slowly enough to notice that he mentions that the Asus 572C should use V2 of his work:
http://www.mediafire.com/download/ui9ipe786dulj98/AsusIntelRootKitv2.zip
Hope this helps someone.
If you check the commands int the .bat file, you will see they are different... Its just basic fastboot commands. And as of recent updates the me572 can't be rooted using this method. So I'll head back to the drawing board as soon as I get time to

Cannot install an .APK file

Hi,
I have the "unknown sources" allowed in settings but when I click on an APK I have downloaded and the installer comes up, looks like pressing the "install" button does not do anything.
Any ideas what might be the problem?
Thanks,

Ok, found the issue ....
Apparently I'm using "twilight" which requires the "application that appear on top" feature enabled.
Once I removed the permission (temporarily) for twilight to appear on top, the installer worked fine. Weird.

Would you post the steps you used? Specificly did you have to enter a MSL code before using shortcut master?
Start by rebooting your phone. Then, follow the normal steps for shortcutmaster.
3 dot menu, app explorer, com.test.ltefuncionality, launch, lte apn settings, profit...
no msl required.

Yes, my profile updated after the update which deactivated my hotspot.
I immediately tried shortcutmaster and was able to edit my apns.
I then tried to edit them through the dialer code and msl. I was not able to edit there. They were grayed out.
Then I again tried shortcutmaster and they were grayed out there now too.
I rebooted and tried shortcutmaster and again was able to edit them.
That is why I suggested to reboot first, before trying shortcutmaster again.
after the upgrade reboot. the phone try to upgrade my profile I just press cancel and it work fine

ok guys who ever not able to use shortcut master apk because is grayout.
1. dial ##BRAND#
2. press yes. ( you phone will reboot in about 2 to 3 minutes). just wait ntill reboot. after the reboot just let the phone finishing configure your phone. after it finish. you will be able to use Shortcut Master apk again.
Sent from my SM-N950U using XDA-Developers Legacy app
The reason it is greyed out is because it is opened in a background process...due to upgrade...So like it is mentioned above a reboot is necessary...and possibly the ##BRAND#...this just updates profile, prl, and resets carrier installation apps...
Good find...
I'd like to second that the process with shortcut master lite worked for me also. The "APN type" was greyed out for me also but I tapped on it and it let me edit it.
Same for me. Even though "greyed out" was still able to edit with shortcut master. And, here is the interesting part, the wifi hotspot is now working much better than before the Oreo upgrade. Much more stable, not dropping off or timing out like it was before.

Fascinating.
Initially after the Oreo update, I was able to edit APN settings via Shortcut Master. As of this morning, Shortcut Master opened the APN setting dialog but no go on edit. Nothing greyed out, just dead keys, so to speak. Followed kgbedge's instructions to ##BRAND# and Shortcut Master works just like before. Thank you, kgbedge!!
