Wow, this could be good news for development on MM!
Where's @Sunderwear? Stock tar for Odin, please?

Thanks for the heads up. It looks like the PD1 ota includes a new modem and kernel also. I'm gonna pull the ota zip and take a look inside and see what I can do with this. I'm pretty sure these new security patches can't be used to update custom roms due to the ota using scripts which patch a multitude of system apps, etc in the rom. So the only way to make use of this update before an official tar is released would be to unroot and install the ota then dump the rom and use that to update custom mm roms. I would mostly be interested in the new kernel & modem to be honest.

Hey @poit have you tested to see if root still works on this new PD1 ota?

Alright, updated to PD1 and was able to root with Chainfire's Autoroot and install TWRP via ODIN. All seems to be running well.

It's never a good idea to flash a framework jar from a previous software version. that file is responsible for a multitude of things throughout the rom. It's almost guaranteed to have new and/or changed classes that can cause problems in the latest software. so if you notice any issue in the future this should be the first thing to suspect.
Thanks for the confirmation of root working.
Any benefit from the PD1 baseband over PC1? If so, is just the PD1 baseband available yet in a flashable zip? Thanks.

Safestrap 3.72 for kitkat is in beta and Hashcode is currently at work on an update so we can use the rom slots 1 through 4.
But for the meantime backing up your rom in stock slot and flashing another kitkat rom is working flawlessly.
OP
Eclipse will be joining the list of 4.4.2 roms in the very near future. @nitroglycerine33 has some really cool stuff coming.

Motorola said in February there would be no LP update.
http://www.techtimes.com/articles/1...unts-for-droid-turbo-2-and-maxx-2-instead.htm
And only 6 days to qualify for the $100 discount on a Turbo2 or Maxx2. (Mini users are SOL. No new options for a smaller device)
Took the update. Still rooted and everything works fine.
For those that went that route, Entitlement Bypass Apk still works as usual too.
But remember to restore the original recovery, instead of twrp.

So it's clear this was a update to there stagefright security patch that apparently took no affect in the SU6-7.3 update. Well I tested my bootloader unlock exploit and was unsuccessful. My kernel would not load and modules as expected. The Trustzone module wasnt loaded to the kernel so the SMC(Secure Monitor Call) couldn't be sent to the Secure world to Rewrite the DWord values. I think my kernel module needs to be recompiled and tested. If anyone is willing to risk a droid Ultra/Maxx/Mini on this bootloader exploit please DM me and I'll send you the details! Cheers! Hi guys, I just thought I would make a reference guide of sorts for all of the 925W8 (Canadian) users because there seems to be a bit of confusion about some things, listed below are working roms, kernels, recovery and the proper xposed frameworks.
First and foremost this is in no way any of my OWN work, everything listed here is respectably reference only and any and all credit belong to the respective thread owners!
Second I wanted to share a little side note about our device, it is in similarity to the T-Mobile variant, from what I have gathered so far is that any custom roms from the T-mobile sections and s6/s6 edge universal sections are all compatible with our device provided we also flash a modified kernel afterwards. (suggested kernel with T/W8 call fix listed below.)
Third if anyone wants to add anything feel free to PM me, there are other W8 threads but I thought I would open one based off of my own personal experiences and current up to date methods.

Honestly with xtrestolite I have been using stock because I've had a busy work week so I haven't been able to test. I never usually use custom kernels unless required (mainly callfix) but plan on checking them out for OC/UV!
I know I said I was updating this yesterday and didn't get around to it so I shall update a few things here and there today throughout the weekend (sorry guys, for whom has been following), I plan on including apps and mods that are universal for all our (listed) ROMs. [MAINLY 6.0+] (I'll also be dabbling in a few other forums to dig up some more useful information.)
I have used custom kernels with the OZOP rom and CRISSCROSS rom with no troubles, ran very smooth! (sorry for somewhat dodging your question until the end heh)

I would search the forum under the root and recoveries. This has been discussed before, and there are ways to do it.
This has nothing to do with custom firmwares, I'm asking how to find stock nougat or how to update the phone, not how to root or flash twrp. At least how to find OTA files. As i see the latest RUU is from October.

I better sell this phone or exchange it to an international or other carrier variant than pay 25$ for a software that does almost nothing. I guess RUU is the only way to update it.

Keep that up and you will get no help around here. You might even be called a leech.
Ruu are generally posted only after availability of the OTA. As we have no nougat OTA I have no Verizon ruu to post yet.

Did i offend someone or what ? When i can help other people i help them, when i like someone's work i appreciate it and post positive comments and sometimes donate but S-OFF for 25 bucks.... In my country the average salary is 130$
I thought the nougat was released long time ago for HTC 10, verizon is really slow with these updates. I'll just wait for the RUU then.

I got an E3001 fingerprint match error when trying to update from the sdcard. I'll try again via ADB but I don't think that will matter. I forgot to grab the actual error before i rebooted
I'm confused? There are 5 beta updates correct? I'm on the 4th ZQL8. Are these for exynos?

No, these are not for exynos. This is for the s8 plus snapdragon g955u model. Yes, ZQL8 is the latest beta file updating from 2BQK5, but to whoever updated to 2BQL1 the only oreo beta file available is 2ZQKS. You can get all the updates from this website: samsung.firmware.science.

Download the latest S8+ Oreo Beta file for 2BQL1.
Apply the Oreo beta by ADB sideload or ADB SD Card.

No, you don't need to be on oreo beta to flash the official build. Just make sure your current firmware is 2BQL1 running 7.0 nougat, in order to update.

To anyone who has flashed the official oreo firmware. How is battery life? Is there a noticeable increase in perfomance?

No problem, if you have any problems, questions or concerns, feel free to ask.
I'm currently running it on the s8 and it's been pretty darn good on almost everything, so far. They did add some features:
Additions include a new boot logo, Dolby Atmos audio integration, which improved the sound quality. It sounds way louder than before and it does have the latest security patch, January 1st, 2018.
I just got the prompt to join the beta program and when I try I get an unknown error try again later.
Any ideas?
Awesome I'm going to five it a shot. Thanks again.

The beta program for oreo? I don't think you're able to enroll in the beta program, since samsung confirmed their ending it on the 15th of January.

BTW.. I applied this one... "New Leaked Oreo Official Stable Build For S8+: G955USQS2BQL1-to-U2CRA1"
I wasn't sure what this was... "Download here: 2BQL1-to-2ZQKS"
Hope that helps...
I'm assuming that one needs to already be on the beta in order to sideload the leaked official build? How long until a full odin-flashable firmware comes out?
When I try to apply this in download mode I don't see the file appear on the list of files to choose from

You're not suppose to apply the update through download mode. These are not Odin files, these files have to be manually updated through your SD card. Be sure to be running stock 2BQL1, to apply the update. Download the file, put the file into your SD card, turn off your phone, once the phone is completely off, press the up volume key, power and bixby button all at the same time, this will take you to recovery and select apply update from sd card.
