Language pack installation failure - Windows 10, 8, 7, XP etc.

I got my two new chinese tablets yesterday (Chuwi HiBook Dual OS). On the first tablet it worked flawlessly with windows update to get my language pack, but not so much for the second tablet .
I tried to install my language pack via control panel => language.
It says language pack is available for download, but once I click the icon the progress indicator show it is being downloaded but then resets back to “language pack available”.
I tried to do the manual installation but the system shows this message (the language cannot be installed on this computer).
Anything else I can try?

Windows Live Problems

Hi guys, I installed the Windows Live Package from http://www.live-messenger.nl/download/WindowsLive.PPC2005_ARM.CAB. It worked perfect, now i wanted to know how much memory this app costed, so i uninstalled it again. But when i tried to install it again, it failed When i open the cab, it loads approx. 5 seconds in the installer, then the installer says Installation of WindowsLive.PPC2005_ARM.CAB has failed Anybody suggestions how i can get this work??
p.s. Without a hard reset
I have also done the same thing and get the same error. I had to uninstall Windows Live Mobile because I was getting an error everytime I tried to launch Live Messenger. Now I can't re-install it again.
I have 2 main ideas:
1st.: Microsoft is cutting the service from these "un-official" releases of their software, as they are trying now to sell Windows Mobile 6 and Windows Live can't be downloaded or installed let's say "legally".
2nd. (which doesn't affect the first one): Microsoft recognizes the WLM software as not pre-installed or being installed on a Windows Mobile 5 device and tells the client to get "blocked", I mean, it writes some values to the registry and prevents being launched or installed again showing the empty error message I had before unistalling it.
Someone can verify any of my ideas or bring a solution to have WLM working again on our WM5 devices?
Thanks in advance.
Romero i've found the problem! I got my hands on an UNdated UNrestricted version. As you said mic. just cut the WLM off. I do not knowe why but here is the fix http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=36364&d=1175459584

neither of those are correct, the reason is thats its a beta and expired at the beginning of the month. therefore you cant run the program or install it. just get a new beta version by signing up to Microsoft Connect or use the older version thats been extracted from wm6 thats floating around here.
Try it, like the worker:
WindowsLive.PocketPC_50_arm.cab
Thank you very much ASerg!
The version The Dutchman posted was in English, but I find out that the Aserg's file was several kB bigger... That made me think and decided to install this bigger one and finally got Windows Live Mobile working in Spanish, just like before my beta had expired.
So thank you again guys!

Vista hangs on startup after Windows update

Today I installed a Windows update that I was prompted to do. I should say that SP1 has been installed and happily running for a couple of weeks now, and that I am running a Spanish version of Vista.
It installed 9 updates and then configured 3 more components after the restart. After a further restart all seems to be going well until just before the logon screen (black screen) where the mouse freezes and nothing happens (I gave it a good 20 minutes) thus forcing a hard reset. I unplugged the USB hub and took out an SDHC card but all to no effect.
My Shift was pretty well updated including the new graphics driver with the registry hack to get it working, so I believe the updates from M$ are pretty recent. I note that my XP desktop PC had an update of various components too.
I booted up in safe mode and selected the "recommended" restore point which was for a Windows update. After the restore and restart, bang, the same problem!
With that failed I chose a restore point prior to both sets of Windows updates. On restart voilà! All is now working. Phew!!
Anyone else get this issue or is it just me? Anyone got an idea which update might be the cause of the issue?
Hmmm, I changed my Windows update settings to allow me to choose the updates I wish to install. The update listed that seems to be the most likely is a new Intel Video driver update.
Would this be a "real" new video driver? Or could it be that due to the registry hack of exporting and then importing two HKEYs after a previous video driver update it has confused Windows causing it to hang?
I would guess the point where it hangs is when Vista is about to be displayed which seems to confirm the video driver theory.
I too had problems with the new updates (on a german version shift): strange behavior during the install process as a screen flickering between black and different resolutions and after all an abrupt shutdown. after restart Windows run fine but shagcontrol didn't work. Following Daniels instructions I removed shagcontrol and installed it again - problem solved (Thanks Daniel!). I guess this issue has not been caused by the security updates but rather by the optional windows mobile update.
At last I had to update my internet security program (Trend Micro) due to "incompatibility problems with this Windows version".
Thus a lot of time waisted but fortunately my favorite toy works again.

On many a blogs recomendation I removed the Trend Micro AV software and downloaded the free AVG software instead. You can pick up a copy at the below link:
http://www.download.com/AVG-Anti-Virus-Free-Edition/3000-2239_4-10320142.html?tag=lst-3
It works just fine, is simple to use and has given no problems.

Be careful .. AVG is one of the worst free antivirus ... (after Live One Care Beta ), I advise you to download antivir on www.free-av.com it's one of the best (if not "THE BEST") free antivirus.
Hi.
I ve the spanish version too. Today Windows Update downloaded 10 updates too but all worked fine. video driver installed too with registry hack(but as you know driver version is overwitten and windows update will try to install it again, and again and...)
Dani
looks like the best thing to do is as said to set it for u to choose what to install or to turn off windows update all together. should be having less issues then.

Mine updated nicely.
9 Of course, because the video was already done, and he did not even offer that one.

[Solved]Stuck on white HTC screen (failed ROM upgrade))

My HD2 got stuck after a failed ROM upgrade. Let me get you the details:
The Past:
• HD2 HK version (I guess)
• Bought it 2nd hand in HK
• Was probably an HK Chinese phone, flashed to HK English
• Did already do a ROM update to 1.66 from what is was before
The Present:
• Current ROM: 1.66.76641
• Radio 2.06.51.07
• Tried to update with: RUU_Leo_S_HKCSL_WWE_3.14.831.3_Radio_15.42.50.11U_2.15.50.14_LEO_S_Ship.exe
• Failed with Error [294] (Invalid model ID ?? I think it was)
• Stuck on the white HTC screen
• USB/Sync not working anymore
What can/should I try next?
Hold vol down and power up device. If that works and you get a tri color screen, then plug into phone, download the right stock rom (Iunno, I'm not sure what roms HK models should use) , then flash it. Or you can try flash HSPL from there, then a custom rom.

Yes, it worked. I got to the 3-color screen and had USB again. ROM is still 1.66 and booting gets stuck at "loading HTC Sense". I guess it could be fixed from there. But 1.66 is not where I wanted to go... (which got me into that mess in the first place...)
I want to flash to 3.14 . Here is what I did:
• I followed (gold card): http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=825397
• I got an old 2Gb microSD
• Format it to FAT32 with a card reader
• D/L GoldCard_9E000000400000000000020002000000.img (it's correct) to PC
• Renamed it on PC to Goldcard.img
• Extracted RUU_signed.nbh to PC
• Connected LEO with ActiveSync
• Renamed RUU_signed.nbh to LEOIMG.nbh (ActiveSync explore)
• Took out the batt
• Restarted hold Vol Down
• It shows briefly 00028002 "not allow"
• Then it's back to the 3-color screen
A normal boot still goes up the error while loading HTC Sense....
Any idea where my error could be?
Update:
A hard reset brought me to ROM 1.66.707.1 (76641) WWE and everything seems to work again. So how can I get to 3.14?
I'm not exactly sure with your method sorry. But I read the tutorial and it says you need a 4gb or more, card to work.
$1 gets you a reply

In the tutorial it said: A.1. Micro SD card (no SDHC [HighCapacity], it needs to be <4GB)
<4Gb = less then 4Gb. Mine is 2Gb. The ROM file is 292Mb.
To upgrade to the stock 3.14 WM ROM, all's you should have to do is go on the HTC website and download the installer for it, you'll have to have your serial number of your phone handy, it will ask for that.
Then when you have the installer downloaded, connect your phone to your PC through ActiveSync or Windows Mobile Device Center and run the installer (run as Administrator in Vista or Win7)

In theory it should be like that. In reality it ended at "Error [294] (Invalid vender ID)". Maybe because my HD2 wasn't originally English version.

[Q] Dell Venue Pro; Update failed, recover not successfull

Hello there,
my "new" Venue Pro arrived yesterday and i just started to test it.
It had a very old firmware, not even mango ... so i startet updates by zune.
After the third update (for wlan problems, i think it was the "latest" wp7 update) i get an error .... so i restartet the phone an tried again, no success.
I read a lot, not even the microsot update tool could help. So i startet the recover in zune over settings, updates.
The update startet and now i always get an error by 61%. I read a lot again, i even tried to backup it from another comuter (copied image %appdata%\Microsoft\Microsoft Phone Update) but the same problem.
So, my "new" phone doesent start any more ... it just loads to the bootloader ...
I tried to get any offiziel firmware to flash the device to "standard" but i seams hat MS dont want this.
I knew a little bit about flashing WM6 devices (HSPL & custom fw) but with WP7 devices i dont really understand what to do in this situation.
I hope you can help me! Can i download the dell firmeware someware to recover the phone? maybe someone have a "personal recover firmware" for me?
Thx
If your device can load into download mode (that you called "bootloader") it can be restored to 7004 T-mobile branded version and later update to 7720 via Zune. This is only one available firmware on the public.
Look at this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1411300
THX!
I will try ... downloading ...
So, i downloaded VenuePro_flash_GLEOS2A_US_TMO_SIGNED_SWV0105_LP0030_RV001_RETAIL.ffu and thought, everthing is getting fine.
But i had no idea how i can install this!
I´m reading hours and hours, tried to use UpdateWP.exe (crash on 2 computers, where NO MS Support tools are installed), Windows_Phone_7_Backupv1.9, MangoB2-ZuneClient, Zune 4.7 .... no success.
Could sombody please tell me, how i can install this on Windows 7 x64? I dont know what to do ...
I get this message when i try to updatewp it;

As i said before, there is no (more) Microsoft Update Software on my computer and on the second there never was it.
Mybe i could handle it with the "MangoB2 Updater" .... but i cant download this anywhere.
I really have no luck :-(
Do not panic yet. You have different versionsof zune or updatewp /missing files
Deinstall everything related to zune.DONT TOUCH EVERYTHING RELATED TO MS SUPPORT TOOLS, IF ITS INSTALLED IT DOESNT INFLUE ON PROCESS!!!
Install Net framework 3.5, 4;
Install Zune(take it from zune.net);
Install wp7 updatetool from zip attached here here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1306415 with proper x64 file.
Follow those steps after connecting device in download mode:
Extract command prompt to C:\program files\zune\
go to directory to “C:\program files\zune\ and run Command prompt. Type in : “UpdateWp /list” and your phone should show up there.
If your phone is listed (it should be) and your download is done and extracted, copy the VenuePro_flash_GLEOS2A_US_TMO_SIGNED_SWV0105_LP003 0_RV001_RETAIL.ffu file over to the” C:\program files\zune\” directory.
Type in: “updatewp /ffu VenuePro_flash_GLEOS2A_US_TMO_SIGNED_SWV0105_LP003 0_RV001_RETAIL.ffu” enter, update should start.
YES IT WORKS!
Great, now i can start my dell venue pro again and even updating is functional.
But why can´t i change the display language? I tought i´m able to change the display language in this roms? In all WP7 phones (in germany) i could change the language at the first start (and after a reset).
*argh!*
On this site i found language packs, but that is a little bit ... argh?!
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1306415
so it´s over ... i send the phone back ...
Thank u very much 4 helping.

[Q] 80180048 error while updating (phone version : 7.10.8779.3)

Hi,
My phone is an Omnia 7 branded SFR.
I have also another Omnia 7 that I have updated with success to 7.8 using Seven-Eighter.
For a few month, I have an update that I can't install on my SFR Omnia 7 which is named "Samsung update" on Zune.
Every time, I get 80180048 error (I tried from different computers, tried to free some space on the phone, nothing helps).
So I decided to try with Seven-Eighter but I got the same error.
Finally, I read this post (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=37384687&postcount=1478), and some page in the same thread but you're always talking about 7.10.8779.8. My version is 7.10.8779.3. I was not able to find any update from 7.10.8779.3 to 7.10.8779.8, am I missing something ?
If I try to deploy the cab for 7.10.8779.8 I get error 80180011 (package not applicable) for the OS, and 80180015 for the language files.
Any idea ?
Thank you in advance
Actually, I realized that my phone is refered as 7.10.8779.8 in Settings/About, but referred as 07.010.08779.03 when using UpdateWP.exe.
However, I still have my update problem.
I tried to reinstall all packages for 7.10.8779.8, some languages were installed, but when I try to deploy 7.10.8783.12 I still get my 80180048 error
I have Nokia Lumia 800 and having the same problem described above.
A help in this regard will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
