I believe you have to use Xposed to get this behavior. Unfortunately that requires root.

Hello Everyone,
I am thinking of buying mytouch 4g from craigslist.
I am currently having mytouch 3g will 7 more months contract from tmobile. My main requirements are wifi tether and large screen. Currently my mt3g has small screen so I want to get rid of it... but it has android-wifi-tether from google code site working awesome.
I feel mt4g screen size works for me but I want to make sure that there is android-wifi-tether app available in google code site, because thats an awesome app.
Update - a min ago found some information about visionary about temp root. Just wondering if I could make use of temp root to run this android wifi tether app instead of perm rooting.
Please let me know you comments.
Thank you,
Kris.

Yes, the Android wifi tether app works with Visionary, I think I use 2.5. GL
Awesome!!!!!! nice to hear.
The "stock" wi-fi app works seamlessly for me and has since day one. no extra charges from TMO either, but then I only use tether for at most 10 hours a week and don't do any large downloads I only use it for sites/games that don't work on phone such as Assassins Creed : Project Legacy on Facebook.
All you have to do is open the program list, press the Wi-Fi Hostspot icon, follow the entries to set a SSID and password. I was at a Best Buy looking at a Sony TV with Google TV built. They did not have a Wi-Fi connection in the store. I told the salesman to go to the Connect setting while I turned on the Hotspot on the phone. After entering the WEP key it connected and we watch some youtube videos. Went to Speedtest.net to check speed. Got a 2.3 Mbps down and 1.1 Mbps up. I was impressed due to the fact that it was inside the store.
I have been having a little trouble with the Wi-Fi Calling. It sometimes will not connect. I have to turn off the phone and restart then it will connect. Wi-Fi Hotspot and Calling was the biggest reason I left AT&T to come to T-Mobile. I have really come to like the features and speed of this phone.
Sorry for using conspiracy word, I just don't know how to explain this in the tittle..
I'm trying to play some games on my 4g and it won't allow me, what I did is I turn on my wifi and use my wife's phone and turn on hotspot also in 4g network and it works.
I want to have a another solution for using just my phone. It's just sad there still many apps that blocks mobile network for 4g over usage sake....
What?

some phones don't allow 4g online usage like asphalt 7/ reckless racing , works only in wifi.
I have same phone as my wife with same brand of internet provider.
I think maybe if I use my wife's phone hotspot with my phone via wifi it will work, and it works!
and I said **** why they block 4g to work for this, it's wifi only..
My phones 4g is faster than my home internet

Its nothing to do with the phone.
Gameloft has made it WiFi only.
I surmise its some DRM checking system that they like to run when you just start the game... I have no proof of that however.
Anyhoo several new games are forcing people to have a WiFi connection... there isn't a way around this unless you trick the game or use a second phone as a wifihotspot

Well after I updated my I9500 to KitKat yesterday and rooted it (didn't install custom rom. All I did was update and root it through odin), I was playing around with tethering and out of a sudden, the wifi hotspot works on my device (only tried it for a couple of mins). I'm on At&t network and have NO tethering plan whatsoever nor use any rooted tethering apps.
So I am wondering if any of you know why it works or should I be concern if At&t is going to charge me for it if I use it for an extended amount of time?

Its quite possible that they will charge u. Its better to wait for ur bill and confirm without using it any further...
Sent from my GT-I9500
You can use WiFi hotspot anytime. It's like a LAN network as long as your mobile data is turned off. You'll get charged once the mobile data is turned on.
cheers ~
My dad had bought the spice dream uno few months back while still in kitkat version. However after updating to android version 5.1, he is unable to use Whatsapp without using wifi. Even normal texts are not being sent using mobile network. My dad has 3G connection so it isn't a problem of net connection. Please help.

I guess you're on roaming with mobile date?
Not able to download after nougat update
Shows downloading pending but doesn't start downloading. This happened after i updated to NOUGAT. I am on roaming network
It's a common issue with Nougat across multiple devices, if you're on a roaming network Play Store downloads are paused until you move to a non-roaming cellular network or connect to Wi-Fi. Could be a bug or a feature to stop people running up a big bill if they're roaming overseas. Either way, it's affecting Pixels, Nexus devices as well as us - there was a post in a Nexus support forum about a possible patch fix, but nothing appears to have materialized yet (this is the thread in question https://productforums.google.com/forum/#!topic/nexus/EPdFg2rZ8Mk) It does look like it's something that Google has to fix or provide an option to download over roaming.
Looks like for the moment, one of the few workarounds is to connect to Wi-Fi or to not be on a roaming network (or downgrade to MM). Yes, this issue has been around for a while: https://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-6p/help/nougat-play-store-data-roaming-t3449007
