Nexus 6P Frost Bezel Scratching - Nexus 6P Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

The Bezel of my Nexus 6P has gotten scratched pretty well from the past 5 months just being in my pocket with no dirt or dust in it. Anyone else having this issue? Didn't have this issue with my White Note 4. I recently did a Android N review on my Youtube Channel @TimesNeverWasted and in that you can kinda see the scratches bezel during the camera pan. Are you guys experiencing the same issue and also wondering if its happening to the Black model as well.

Pictures Please.

Sounds like someone is trying to get youtube views.... Should of just posted pictures here.

Not really... I have enough subscribers to generate views. Regardless I will post a picture on my lunch break. Thought a video would be more helpful.

If the YouTube channel doesn't involve Gaming and Gaming Walkthroughs, not going to visit.

can you post some pics?

Yes, I have the same issue. My original unit I got back in October as well had the "Huwaui" wear off as well. They replaced my device but still not cool.

You're obviously just trying to get YouTube views, in your post here, which was posted half an hour after you posted this thread, you claim your bezel is perfect.

Hey guus. I got my nexus 7 yesterday, rooted it, and flashed aokp. However, I've been noticing small white dots appearing on the screen. I'm able to scratch the off with my finger but they keep coming fast at a fast pace? Is this some kind of defect, or is it common? I know every device has at least one common problem.

its the protective coating separating there was someone else having a similar issue but it was one big spot at the bottom of the screen where it was coming off.. Did you ever clean the screen with ammonia products like Windex .This can cause issues with the coating .Other people have commented on dots being on the glass itself as well..
So yes i have heard of this but it sounds like yours is the extreme of the condition..
glad you got it replaced

White band/line across screen

Hey all,
I'm slightly unhappy, after all that effort of getting the phone (ordered on the 4th Dec at 17:09). I notice that there is a white band across the screen. If you look at the picture below, it is located by the minus across horizontally across the screen from left to right. It is only noticeable when you tilt the screen. I assure you it isn't the pattern from the wallpaper as it is apparent on other screens.
What do you think guys? What is wrong with it? How can I explain this to Google to get a replacement? Thank in advance!

It is especially apparent when the phone is tilted forth and back. Just to add it isn't the background as it occurs whilst watching videos etc
At a guess, did you partially remove the shipping screen protector then place it back on? I say that because it could be a flex mark from the plastic film.

Nexus 4 back not sparkling?

The back of my Nexus 4 is not sparkling AT ALL. When you look in the light you can see the individual dots but there is no sparkle, they are all the same muted color hidden beneath the glass. Anyone else having this problem?
androidcentral (dot) com/another-new-wave-nexus-4s-shipping
That's exactly what it looks like, no sparkle, no nothing.
I got this today in the second wave of Nexus 4 coming in.
this thread is probably going to get locked, but it has to catch the light just right for it to "sparkle"

Why would it be locked? Because of my external links for pictures since they thought it might be spam?
Well anyways it doesn't. I've looked for a good minute in the out side light but i got nothing.
And i have to wait five minutes between posts...
God this forum has a lot of anti-spam, first the captcha to sign up and then another to post a comment and you can't link or post often.

Well the picture is showed by that thread that i provided on another site but okay I guess.
As you can see you saw the dots but they aren't different colors and don't sparkle. The second picture is in the sunlight.
I have the same "issue" as TC, it doesn't sparkle like in the videos or pictures I've seen. The effect is very weak but perhaps it does require strong light like sun rays.

It does require strong light at the right angles to "sparkle." I'm sure still having the glass protection on doesn't help either.

Sent from my Nexus 4 using Tapatalk 2
No, it's a good thing you posted pictures. It is definitely because you still have the factory plastic on the back. It really, really dulls the effect. I had the same disappointment when I first got my N4. I was actually going to post a topic about it but then my full body protector arrived and I peeled off the factory protector and applied the new one and now it sparkles beautifully. Peel that plastic off and then report back.
LOL he got a replacement phone anyway? you can just keep your charger, then you have 2! 2 usb cables are nice for a usb car charger or something
anyway, if your phone is flawless, you might be better off cancelling that replacement because what if your new phone has issues? You are unable to send the new phone back because then you will be charged again. Always that fear... then you'll have to deal with another RMA but this time you have a faulty phone in your hands.
also remove that plastic on the back as suggested.

Anybody else have a slightly curved back?

Does anyone else noticed the back of their Nexus 7 being ever so slightly curved? Not that this is something that would bother me, but when I place it on a table it is able to have just enough rock to it that swiping my finger with it or plugging a cable into it will pull the device in the direction of the tension.
(Moderators, I originally put this in Q&A, but since I realized it isn't so much a Q&A thread, I put it here in general. You can delete the Q&A one)
EDIT: Video comparison I just made - http://youtu.be/EhS7-KTwn4g
I believe it is designed that way so the speakers don't sit flat.

But it is down the vertical spine of the device, not the horizontal one. Plus the speaker grills are placed on the curve of the devices edge, so laying flat shouldn't be much of a problem anyway.
Not sure then. I just tried it with mine and I don't have that problem.

The back is indeed slightly curved... In the words of Will Graham, "this is by design"
Oh, I wasn't sure what you meant by that. I thought you meant if you pressed down on the top or bottom edge it would rock.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk 2
Best buy just refused to exchange it and wouldn't even try another device to see if it also did it, claiming it is a design choice (clearly she was on the ASUS/Google development team). Nor would they PM with the Staples coupon after the fact (but I can understand that one). She was just very rude and dismissive.
I just laid mine down on a marble counter. It sits flat. Only the edges are tapered for the speakers. Its pretty sturdy.

Yes! Somebody else notices. I was using my tablet in class today vertically and it kept turning horizontal. I noticed that the back isn't completely flat which is causing it to have movement when I lay it on a flat service.

Yeah, It might not be a huge "issue" (as the comment on my video says), but it is very annoying, especially considering I like to have the charger plugged in when I'm on it at times, and if there is any tension on the cord from where it is plugged in to where I am sitting, it will pull the tablet toward it.

I didn't really notice either until I had it plugged in and kept pulling away from me. Then I noticed it when I would swipe the screen. It really is annoying but I don't know how widespread the problem is and it is hard to gauge from the limited responses in this thread so far.
this really shows how far people are willing to go to find something to complain about..
slightly curved back that allows your device to spin freely when on a perfectly flat surface... really?
people in this world will never be happy ever.

Lol... This.
I tried to replicate, but I did not experience anything like that. I'm going with it's by design. It's in my hand 99% of the time anyway so I don't care.

Build quality

My note has a loose speaker grill on the right. I was wondering if anyone else has this issue or others.
The only questionable thing I have, which may be normal, is the infrared port. It protrudes about a millimeter or so from the top edge. Is this normal?

It shouldn't, but this is Samsung we're talking about. A number of users already confirmed that they're having the same issue on multiple threads. I'm guessing this is happening because of the S Pen slot. It shouldn't be doing that, but we're used to Samsung doing this.

Good news Bad news
The Bad news is I am not the only one that has a tablet with this issue. The Good news is there are PERKS to be gained if you have you to exchange. If you know what I mean
Samsung, like any manufacturer has issues, I think you will find the QC at Samsung is among the best. I wonder too, is the first thing some people do when getting something is look for defects? I mean, yeah, if they pop up while using it, then you go from there, but I like to actually use and enjoy my device first
As for the issue, my right speaker grille does have a VERY TINY bit of play if you tap it, it's not noticeable in normal use and will NOT affect anything important. A user fixed it easily, so if it is bothersome, you can always do what he did.

I dont have patience for QC issues, if I spend my hard earned money I want it close to perfect or its going back. There is no way I would ever fix their mistakes.

You will never find perfection, not in anything made my the hands of man anyway. There is not one company out there that puts out 100% perfect products, not one.
It's the price of being an early adopter Computer manufacturers make all kinds of revisions, heck the early LCDs had ghosting. These days though almost everything feels like beta.
