Moto x style Mic problem - X Style (Pure) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So I bought my moto x style like 1 month ago , and I already got it replaced from flipkart like three times. But when I talk at night the microphone or maybe some other issue comes in and my voice to the other person goes by cutting. When I record it's all fine eg on wtsapp and other 3rd party applications. I searched very deeply that what can it be the issue? I found that it has to do something with the noise cancellation. I tried to search and found that changing something in build.prop perisist voiccall to false can be solving the issues. Can anyone please suggest me some solution? I actually don't wanna buy any other Phone but this phone is really annoying with the mic. Please help!

Thank you for posting this. I was having my own issues and thought I was going crazy. Mic would just crap out on an irregular basis. Initially thought it was feedback from my router but it seems to be having issues irrespective of whether I'm near my router or not. I've been through 3 phones now.

Have you got any solution for this?

HELP: Is my QTEK 9100 Defective? (SpeakerPhone Problems)

I just got my Qtek 9100 a few days ago and as everybody else I am experiencing the same malfunctions, bugs etc..
I have a problem with the handsfree/speakerphone in the phone app and I couldn't find anybody else with the same problem.
My MIC seems to be OK as I can use it for recording memos, voice dialing and of course - talking. As soon as I activate the handsfree/speakerphone option the other side can't hear me or hears me broken or just plain hiss noise.
Is my unit defective? I think it sounds as a software problem that might be fixed with an update. Anybody else has heard about this problem somewhere? Anyone has experienced this problem? Should I return my unit?
One more thing, at times there is absolutely no audio coming out of the QTEK but that is fixed after I do a soft reset.
Help!
Speakerphone issue as you described is a known issue, hopefully a upgrade will fix this (fingers crossed)
Psshhheeww... now I am relaxed..
Funny.. when you know a bug exists by other people you feel better..
Anyway, we order two units, both have the same apps installed one has this bug and the other doesn't. Lucky me has the bogus unit... anything I can do about it?
And last question for now, any expected date on a rom/windows update for the Qtek 9100?
Thanks!
hey ari.
i do think it's a hardware problem.
like the good old JAM, who had the same problem with the speaker.
anyway, let's wait , maybe there will be a system update to fix this, but i doubt it, since many units dont have that problem and run the same rom.
Nadavi.
(Yes it's me) 8)
Hey Nadav,
I've been trying to reach you for the past days.. we have a mutual friend we didn't know of.. you know who it is?
Regarding the speaker phone, I was also sure it is a hardware problem, but think of it, the mic works falwless while recording, while talking with the phone in the good ol' regular way and while using the video cam or voice dialing... so, I think there is a chance that it is a software problem. Also, there were a few times that the handsfree/speakerphone DID work but I couldn't figure out how and when...
If it is a hardware problem I need to return the unit asap before I won't be able to do so... but if it is a software problem, I'll wait.
What do you people say/think?
Besides that, give me a call if you can.
Thanks!
Yes, but can we hope for a ROM update by Christmas?!

Answering a Call

Just a quick question for you guys. When I receive a phone call (full signal strength) and slide the slider accross to answer the phone there is a long pause of silence before the call actually connects. Has anyone else run into this situation?
Nexus One running stock Froyo (At&t)
yes I have this issue: I answer and cannot get an answer on the other end but I can hear them saying "hello". After a few seconds we connect and they say they never heard me say anything even though I was saying hello back.
I have two Nexus Ones: one answers calls perfectly and has great sound quality, while the other has this issue you describe, along with low call volume.
I think in my case it may be a hardware issue and I may need to send it in to be looked at. Both running on ATT although the good device is the tmobile version and the problem device is ATT 3G version.

You think it is a hardware issue? I thought that it was like that across all N1s?
There was a thread here 1-2 weeks ago about the issue and pretty much EVERYBODY had this problem.
I can't find the thread anymore but it was about the delay between answering a call and the mic becoming active ... which takes 2-5 seconds.
I just noticed the other day that the delay seems to be less if I immediately put the call on speaker.
Never encountered that issue. The other side hears me immediately as I answer. I guess this is not "across all N1s", unless someone would think my N1 is special in some way (which it isn't, and so are all the other 7 N1s of my friends at work which also happen not to have this problem - and the call quality is great on at least 3 that I checked personally).
Instantly connects on my phone as well, so it's not on all devices at least. I have one of the first batches of T-Mobile N1's btw.
What carrier are you on?
this happens to me too.its so annoying. im on att
Can't find the thread but it was pretty long.

I'm not so sure anymore. I decided since my only choice was to send it in for repair, I might as well one click root and install CM6 and see what happens. So far, I have not had the issue. It's only been three days but that's the longest this device has ever gone without having the "no connect" issue. Also, my low call volume and speaker phone volume issues are now resolved. I now find myself turning the volume down rather than up. I'll update this thread with final verdict on whether this fixes my issue.
This sounds like an att problem not a nrsux one problem
I notice this problem as well. If I wait until the call timer appears on screen before I start to talk the other party doesn't seem to notice.
I'm on T MO and never had this issue. Try the one click root and flash a different ROM. If it doesn't work send it to HTC. I recently sent mine back on a Monday and it was back that Friday.

Well my issue has been resolved by switching to CM6. It's been a week now and the issue has not occurred even one time. This was an issue that used to happen to me EVERY DAY, so I am very happy that in my case it turned out to be a software issue.
When I was running 2.1 I hoped 2.2 would fix it and when it didn't I thought for sure it must be hardware. It's so nice to KNOW I can answer the phone if it rings now. Sometimes I would get an important call and I was afraid to answer the damn phone!
Thank you Mr. Cyanogen, whoever you are.
I get this issue once in a while. I think its a software issue. Over time something gets hung up somewhere.
I had a thread like this as well..
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=691399
For me it still happens randomly, stock 2.1 rom, stock 2.2 rom, Enom's ROM, etc...
Although I have a theory that I haven't tried to prove/disprove yet.. It seems like several times when this has happened I was holding my finger over the second mic on the back, which is naturually where my finger seems to lay when I hold the phone. Anyone else considered this? I'm thinking maybe it's throwing off the microphone trying to do noise cancellation?

Definitely not the finger covering the mic. Just tried it with/without and same result.
There was another thread that was at least 3-4 pages of people complaining about it.
Sounds more like a network issue than a hardware issue, IMO
This issue has come up recently for me and it's really annoying. I'm not sure what triggered this problem...
Is anyone else experiencing this issue? Any ideas on how to resolve?
I've got the Rogers/AT&T N1.

Random Popping Sound

Has anyone here had any random popping sounds from there phone. Every now and then I will be sitting there and my phone will start making these faint popping sounds. It is loud enough for me to hear it. Should I take it in and have it looked at. I can hopefully avoid this as I would need to return to stock, but not really a big deal considering I have done it multiple times anyways.
Thanks.
yep, mine does it too. when this happens it usually means that my speaker output is going to be very, VERY low. The only way to fix is it to reboot it only happened when i started using 2.2 roms.

Random popping and ticking coming from the handset speaker
Hello everyone.I am also experiencing this issue with the handset speaker popping and ticking. It seems to be associated with bluetooth and aggravated by USB charging.
I am curious what headsets other users that are experiencing this problem are using. I am using a Jawbone ERA and I suspect that it may be related to the advanced capabilities of the headset.
I have spoken to users that have Motorola headsets that say they have never had the problem.
I have also received a replacement phone and had the same problem with the new one.
The more info we can gather the closer we should get to a solution so please chime in with your info.
Thanks!
ya take it back to sprint... hope ya got TEP!!! thats what i did today cause along with that *popping* the phone would ring through my earpiece spkr... at least until i rebooted..

This has been a well known bug on all froyo builds. There is no workaround or fix as of yet. Gingerbread does not have this anomaly from what I've seen.
I am personally using a jabra extreme headset FWIW.. I would also get the popping sound after the phone was paired to the radio in my truck (Clarion CZ-500)...
I'm currently running EE03 (the ACS leaked swiss cheese version) and do not experience this anomaly.
Hope this helps
The popping sound is due to pairing with bluetooth and then unpairing / charging. I thought it was only a2dp related but I guess not.

S8 audio cut off problem

Has anyone experienced any cut offs in audio when watching video of streaming music while all notifications sounds work? Tried to reboot phone, clean headphone jack and clear system cache but still doesn't seem to work. If anyone has a solution to this problem, leave a message.
Also: I have looked around and it doesn't seem this problem is that well known yet.
I am having the same issue! It's driving me crazy.
I'm experiencing the same issue . For me, it most likely to happen when i play game. I tried to watch youtube for an hour and a half to see if this happen, but it didn't do I'm not sure if its because of the game or the software/ hardware issue
Today I noticed that audio from videos (received via Whatsapp, or on YouTube) would fade out after a second or so. Reboot solved the problem.
I play YouTube streaming all the time in the car, and upto now it never did that.
What app are you using for music/video?
Stock?
I'm using Spotify or Amazon music and Youtube mainly. And this issue 100% will happen when i play Fire Emblem Heroes, i tried other games for ~15 min but this issue didn't happen
I've been having this problem the last few days. It started with Allo messages playing for two seconds then stopping. Now it's happening to YouTube videos I watch. So frustrating.
Found this thread over on Samsung community forums: https://us.community.samsung.com/t5...rd-id/GeneralDiscussion/thread-id/2913/page/1
Sounds like lots of people are taking their phones back for exchanges. Might be a bad soldering connection on the phone.

Have you restarted your phone? Fixed the issue for me, so I think it's just a software-related bug. Plus, it only happens when I open games or other media when I have music playing (for example.)

multiple times....and I did the USB audio routing option. still doesn't fix anything.
only thing that gets the speaker to work is pressing HARD on the back cover of the phone about two inches above the speaker....and if that's the only thing that makes it work, it's gotta be an internal wiring/soldering issue

next time it happens, try pushing on the back cover of your phone....about an inch or two above the speaker
see if it comes back on

Man, do you think it's both a software bug AND a hardware issue, both causing similar problems?
The S8 really is a great phone when it works, but it seems to have a lot of infancy problems.
Think I found the solution.
Okay. First of all, thank you everyone for reply to this thread. I think I found the solution to the audio cut off problem. Every time when the audio goes off I just gave the phone a few Taps against my palm. So far, this method worked out pretty well for me.
The method I used was to held the phone by the top ear piece area and aimed the speaker area and just slapped it against my palm for a few times.

what a horrific "solution"
I have done similar.....press my finger hard against the rear panel...right above the speaker grille on the bottom of the phone.
so clearly, it's a hardware issue with wiring/soldering in the internals.
Here is a thread on the official Samsung foruns with LOTS of people complaining about the same: https://us.community.samsung.com/t5...rd-id/GeneralDiscussion/thread-id/2913/page/1
I tweeted that thread to Samsung and Samsung USA....no answer from either
I'm slightly shocked more people aren't complaining about this problem
Because your phones are defective and defective phones (out of the total number sold) represents a tiny percentage.
Just get a replacement.
Some of the comments on Samsung forums make it look like a software issue. If you restart your phone and it works again it is a software issue and the "tapping" thing is just a placebo.
If it was hardware (bad connection), rebooting would do nothing.
But that is what makes it so crazy, the behavior is mostly pointing to software but the tapping on the back has worked twice for me. I'm really curious about an official word (if we're that lucky)
same problem
I have the same problem with my S8. Couldn't find any solution until now.
I have written several times to Samsung support, no answer until now...

I wrote Samsung support and Samsung Mobile on Twitter multiple times about his issue...and copied the link from the official Samsung forums that I linked on page 1...and they keep refusing to answer my question about it
I had the same issue with the sound I have a sim free s8 rang Samsung UK support yesterday they arranged a brand new phone which I received today via ups just swapped them over so I am very impressed with the there service
So far no issues
Sent from my SM-G950F using Tapatalk
same issue here in the netherlands.. samsung told me to send it in for repairs
guys sorry to inform that it is most probably a hardware issue since only few customers including me are facing this. If it was a software issue then more customers will come up with similar complaints. Bad luck we may all got the same batch of faulty phones.
The reason why i am saying is that i started the device in safe mode and the issue is still there. By tapping right above the speaker clears the issue and same vice versa while playing if tap above the speaker the sound again cuts off meaning to say IT'S AN HARDWARE RELATED THING

WiFi static noise/buzzing sound

Hi, when WiFi is enabled (doesn't matter if connected to a wireless network or not) I can hear from the top of the phone static noise probably due to interference, this is very annoying during calls. When I turn off WiFi this strange noise disappear.
I think this isn't so normal. Has anyone run into the same issue?*
Send phone back to OnePlus, they should give you a new one.
Same with me. But is barely noticeable!
I'm experiencing this on Wifi and on cellular data as well. It's actually very annoying. Does anyone know why this could be happening? Is this like a warranty thing? Or. I have no idea how to approach this sort of thing.
It happened to me too one time. but it went away after a second update. No issue there. Happens to a lot of phones. Nexusline and even iPhones have it.

maybe it depends on more than just your wifi, there could be many interference signals. I dunno, I am not a developer.

I was finding that when I moved my head away or pushed the phone against my ear that the frequency of the sound would change too. Kind of like it was reacting to the distance. It could have also been that the tone changed since I was at different distances. I don't even have enough posts to submit a bug report on the OP forums. Can someone go do that? Maybe this is a warranty item. I saw nothing at all there about this issue when I scrolled through 10 pages of other things.
In have the same issue, on wifi and cellular data. It's not that annoying, but still.. Hope this can be fixed with an update.
OP5 brand new mobile creates buzzing sound
really i am also facing this buzzing issue at the receiver ...i have tried in safe mode also *#808# but no use the same buzzing sound comes ...... not continuous , but often which irritates and annoys me ..
The 4.5.5 update fixed my issue. Hopefully it does for everyone else. I will report back here if it happens again.
