Hello,
as the topic says, is it possible to install trwp with root but without trwp (i dont want to loose encryption and wipe data etc).
can it be flashed withflashfire ?or odin ? anybody succeced ?
i will install twrp after encryption support, but i do miss xposed, so i would like to try something
thanks
Nope, at least not right now. You need root, which will trigger knox to get Xposed working.

No. That's a silly question lol
Why would you want encryption anyways? It's overrated.

Why do you even need encryption? Do you know what that is? Wipe data, end of story.
Sent from my SM-G935F using Tapatalk
No matter what, you'll need a custom recovery to flash the Xposed package. Whether it's TWRP or CMW.
Look at it this way as well.
Even if it was possible (and it's not) to install Xposed withoit TWRP
What if you enable a module that's not compatible.
The only way you can recover is to flash again.
Then what if you make another mistake. You have to reflash again and start over.
You would need TWRP as a fail safe to disable Xposed incase of problems.
Never mind the fact you require it to install Xposed.
Just another view on it

Here's what you do since you're Rooted just install Xposed using FlashFire it'll work and you don't need TWRP or CWM I've used FlashFire extensively and it is a great way to flash.

You don't lose encryption by installing TWRP. You can chose to disable it if you'd like it to be able to mount from internal storage but it's not necessary

I had a official stock firmware XXUA1NG2.
I used Towelroot apk to root my SM-900F and stay on stock.
I received and installed the NG8/9 update and lost root.
Is it safe to flash NG2 using odin to become official again and be able to use towelroot again?
PM is no problem, i am very gratefull for help
Best is to flash a NE2 rom again, data factory reset and reroot with TR. Then install superSU Pro and enable root survival to koop root after an OTA update. Or follow this guide to root an NGx rom with a older kernel http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s5/general/how-to-root-triggering-knox-2nd-method-t2843044.

So after the flash:
- Factory reset
- Root with TR
- Install superSU and Pro and enable root survival. Do not make superSU a system app.
- Now you can download and install the NG9 OTA and retain root.
I always use Odin 3.09 and had no issues so far, link http://odindownload.com/.
Good luck mate

The Pro app gives you more options and will serve you for years so its money well spend imo. You have the option to make superSU a system app in the Pro options but that means you can never install an OTA update because the system is modified so i wouldn`t do it.

Then it was rooted by the former owner allready. Samsung cannot deny warranty if you have a legitimate claim unless they can prove that rooting was the cause of the defect. At least you don`t have to be carefull anymore as KNOX is tripped anyway (just kidding)
Now you can use CF Auto Root to root http://download.chainfire.eu/397/CF-Root/CF-Auto-Root/CF-Auto-Root-klte-kltexx-smg900f.zip or Towelroot and flash custom recovery`s, roms and kernels as you wish. I`d still update super SU and install superSU Pro.

But when I try to install SuperSU via TWRP, it just get stuck before the reboot animation. Any idea's what I could try perhaps?
Edit: Solution is just using the SuperSU in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-x-style/general/xt1572-mm-twrp-root-xposed-t3276792

Men i have the same problem and i dont know what to do :/
@patt yes.
@Doktaphex The one TWRP asked me to install and the latest beta. 2.49. Same problem.
Depending on the version of SuperSU that you are using there are 2 different rooting methods.
My suggestion would be to use the systemless root option here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=64161125&postcount=3
v2.65 is what you want. When you flash this in twrp it will automatically patch the boot image on your device (whilst also creating a backup of the original). It sounds as though you are both trying to use a version of SuperSU that implements the standard rooting method, this would mean that you must manually flash a modified boot image in order to bypass Android 6.0's internal system modification checks!
Flash the stock boot.img. Then see if it boots. Then ^^^ this^^^

Do not allow twrp to attempt to install superSU
IMPORTANT!!!!
Because you have already allowed twrp to do this, you will need to reflash your system partition to ensure that all traces of that version of SuperSU are removed before you flash the newer version.
I hope this helps you guys.

Sorry, I should have been more clear in my instructions. I would go ahead and reflash the rom that you want to use and then flash superSU v2.65.
Reboot and if twrp asks if you want it to install superSU choose the option for it NOT to do so.

What base are you on ? As long as you are on 5.1.1 then I'd recommend DN5, both erobot and sixperience have the theme engine as well but don't seem to be supported anymore.

I'm not sure CF auto root actually works anymore because of selinux , been that long since I tried it.
I've never known anyone get bootloop flashing the correct twrp. Once you have twrp installed dont do anything except flash dn5 (if thats the one you choose), don't select root in twrp you should be ok just flashing the rom

Download dn5 zip to your sdcard reboot to recovery and flash the zip file through twrp that's it. If you want to go back to stock you just download the latest firmware for your region from sammobile and flash that through odin. That simple, but I think you will probably stay on custom especially if you want theme store
Edit
Yes every thing is ok in odin, just always check that repartition is never ticked by accident. Repartition should always be left unticked

You shouldn't lose them tbh but you can do one of 2 things. 1 make a full back-up in recovery before you flash dn5 (think you can backup un rooted never actually tried)
2 flash latest su zip in recovery to get root then use titanium backup or similar to back them up. There may actually be an app in the playstore that doesn't need root to backup apps just can't remember what it's called

As for de-crypting your device without losing userdata, the short answer is NO, the long one is Heck no
Custom recovery as TWRP won't stick without being rooted.

No.
TWRP just replaces stock recovery to be used instead.
SU or nowadays Magisk gives root privileges but they need TWRP to flash them.

No.
TWRP just replaces stock recovery to be used instead.
SU or nowadays Magisk gives root privileges but they need TWRP to flash them.

So I can make a full backup of my unrooted android system with TWRP, and restore it as well without any problem ?
Rooting is not mandatory for that ?

Backup yes, restoring can't be guaranteed although I never had a problem with that.

No. TWRP doesn't care

Great, I prefer to keep it unrooted.
Especially since I hardly do anything with it. Just a ghost system for security and that's it.
Thanks a lot for your help, bmwdroid. ;-)

It works, restoration included. Without rooting. I apparently have no problem.
Thanks, I'll see the next step to install LineageOS maybe.
Have a nice weekend.
