My Zoom has started making a loud clicking noise intermittently. Not related to touching the screen. Just a loud click now and then. Almost like a static discharge. Not related to volume settings. Anyone else have this? Any ideas?

Did you install the unofficial flash apk?
yes. But the clicking started before that.

BTW the unofficial Flash update isn't working for me...

It starts clicking right before it grabs you!
I had that and used to restart my Xoom to get rid of it, then disappeared after sometime and don't know how

Looks like another fanboy post? A cockroach got inside during installation, you'll have to return your xoom and buy an ipad 2 ?????
The only way you'll take my Xoom is to pry it from my cold dead hands. But I'm just wondering how best to kill the cockroach!
Mine just started doing this today. I really dont want to have to exchange it for a new one at best buy, thats such a hassle!
i think it's because you are running overclocked. Minw started this after I clocked it to 1.5ghz, set it to 1.2 and no longer does this.
My Epic 4G just recently started doing this intermittently over the past week or two. I'm guessing that it is related to some app that I installed, but I haven't been able to track it down yet.
Mine was doing the same a day or two back sounded like the speakers were clicking for no reason at all, i'm running stock with no hacks or anything of the kind.
Happens to me everytime I run FPSE, doesn't go away until I restart Xoom.
I had this same issue. 2 things I have tracked it down to. Rockplayer pausing a movie. And trillian. I had to uninstall trillian as itwas driving me crazy.

Mine is not rooted and it does it at times. I have to restart the device. I wonder how many other people have this problem.

I had this happen only one time. I was using Remote Desktop from Xtralogic one night and it started making a weird clicking or electrical discharge noise. It sounded like it was coming from the speaker.
I finished my work that night on our server and turned off the Xoom. Never had it happen since.
My Xoom is rooted and overclocked to 1.4Ghz. Most of its use is Remote Desktop, ConnectBot, QuickSSHd and Kindle.

Yeh mine was doing it today, couldn't figure out what was going on. Prob just a software glitch or something causing the speakers to pop.

often happens to me after running some media players like upnpplayer
Did you force close or clear data from some media app running in the background? One or the background items tracks built in ringtones and wiping data will make it forget the factory ringtones. Maybe it's clicking because it's no longer playing a proper audio file?
You'll have to make it rebuild itself somehow if that's the case. Mine fixed itself after a reboot or two.
Just what the title says. I'm getting no sound at all. I've messed with every volume control and am stumped.

Working now. Weird! I may have a lemon with the sound.
Of course the sound has to stop working when I'm showing a fanboy how awesome it is and how much better it is then the iPad.

I'm having the same issue.
I'm using it with no issues for a while then no sound... rebooting it doesn't help.
I can plug in a head set but no speaker at all.
Sometimes emails notifications come through but that's about it.
Been on the phone waiting for google support now. Been waiting for about 30 minutes now...
This SUCKS!

Had the same problem within five hours of having it. Sound went out playing Final fantasy III. Did a factory reset, nothing. Was on hold with google play for 45 min before I gave up. Sound started working again for a while, cut out again when playing FFIII again. Would say it is the game but the factory reset didn't fix it. Sound came back on during the night while I slept, has stayed on since. Waiting to see how it goes and to find out if it is a software issue before I try to RMA it. Did sent google an email though.
I did a hard reset (held the power button down for 10 seconds) and its been fine since.

Problem is back.
It makes a sound like a record scratching then no sound. If you tap the back of the tab it tries to make sounds but fails. Must be a hardware issue.

Simple question but I can't find a solution. Is there a way, other than manually setting ringer to a silent ringtone, to make the M silent without vibrate in the stock ROM?
I'm a third shift worker and vibrate wakes me as bad as a ringer would. I know you can do it in custom ROMs. Any help would be appreciated.

I just press Vol- until it goes to vibrate, and then press it one more time for total silence.
Thanks, that did it for now. I would still like to find a software method, so if anyone knows, please post it here. Thanks!

Sushhhhh or somehow like that on the play store free.
What I use is notification toggle by j4velin. It fits in your notification bar in which you can turn on/off all sorts of things, sound is one of them.

Can't figure out why when I answer a call the phone defaults to speaker phone on answer regardless if the toggle is lit or not. This started shortly after updating to take official KitKat update, never been rooted our anything and can't figure out why. Anyone have this problem or a fix? Thanks in advance.

I think it just seems like that. To me the speaker phone and regular ear speaker sound the exact same

No it is the speaker phone cause if I toggle hit the toggle to turn the speaker phone on it will continue as the speaker phone then if I toggle it off it will go to the ear speaker.

It ended up being GPS Status that was causing the issue, after clear cache, data and uninstall everything was fine.

Ahhhh that makes sense, glad you figured it out!
My call volume is set to the highest level and when I am in a call it's just barely loud enough.
An I alone here? On Verizon.

I've found you have to have your ear flush with the phone. I'm used to angling my ear when talking. It makes a big difference on volume.

It does make a big difference, but the volume is still the lowest I've ever had on a phone.

You need to exchange. mine working great better than my previous phone z3
I agree, you should contact Motorola.
Had this issue with my Nexus 6 sometimes. Always left that one at max call volume. I had to actually turn the volume down 1-2 notches during calls on the MXP. I would also say to contact Motorola.
I'll give Motorola a call.
The volume isn't super quiet, its fine if I'm in a quiet room, but if I'm at a bar or restaurant its going to be really tough to hear anything.
I use an app call HeyTell for 20 second voice messages and that plays loudly in the earpiece so I know it isn't hardware related.

log into my verizon go to features and activate advanced calling aka hd voice then in cellular settings you will have enhanced 4g lte option. Select that.
Remember in order to speak with someone over HD voice on Verizon someone else also has to have active hd voice: galaxy s5,s6,iphone 6 etc.... all those newer phones.
I love HD voice it's super clear.

Were you able to resolve this issue?
I just received my MXPE and absolutely love it, except for the low call volume on the handset earpiece. The low volume is accompanied by some constant low level hiss. Call volume is normal and hiss is gone using any other mode (speaker phone, bluetooth, wired headset). I hate to go through an exchange since I've already got my screen protector installed and that will probably be a loss if I have to get a new phone. But if that is what it takes...
Anyway, would be interested to know what resolution you came to.
I called Motorola, actually tried a factory reset. Determined the phone needed to be replaced. Replacement should arrive today, but through Amazon since Motorola wanted another $25 to ship the replacement before I return the defective unit. A short chat with Amazon and the replacement was expedited to me overnight. Amazon for the win?
Sent from my XT1575 using Tapatalk
Replacement did not fix the problem. It's looking like a Marshmallow issue. Details at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3277589.
