I don't know if this is an issue with my device, but VoLTE doesn't work if the phone loses connection for a few minutes(15-20). I tried flipping the flag and once the connection did reset and VoLTE started working again. Tried re-flashing the radio and nothing worked till now.
I live in a garbage reception area so turn off enhanced 4g LTE and have better call quality as it doesn't try to do HD voice.
But, to you're question, you mean after you resume a data connection that VOLTE takes a while to start working?

The VoLTE doesn't work no matter how long I get back the service. I have to manually reset network settings to reboot for it to work. Do you know where I can file a bug for this?

I just flashed the radio image from 21.12 firmware with RSDLite and saw an amazing increase in 1x signal! from about -120 dBm to about -95 dBm! ... thought I would share this info BUT I AM NOT SURE IF THIS HAS A NEGATIVE CONSEQUENCES ... AFAIK, worst comes to worse, you can just reflash the updated baseband
EDIT: okay so dont do this... it disables the ability to turn on wifi, dont know why
EDIT: logs tell me wifistatemachine: failed to load wifi driver... maybe if there was a way to implement the new wifi drivers into the old cell radio image or vise versa. Also, thread post should say 1x not 3g
Why are you worried about 3G signal?

Because a signal change from 120 to 95 could add hours of battery life if you are getting a bad signal in your house... cell standby is sucking up about as much power as my screen

I do, but what would that help? I would still get power drain from 3g scanning unless i disabled it... and phone calls dont run over LTE so that would not be a fix. I would love if someone had a solution for me, but am I wrong about any of this?
can someone check 3g and LTE signal strength before and after toggling advanced HD calling? I got the same -120 to -95 increase in signal and I think that is essentially what I was doing by downgrading the radio image to pre-VoLTE

Because 3G isn't active when LTE is.
Phone calls also don't run over 3G, they run over LTE, or 1x.

I was under the impression that 1x was 3g? And i just tried to make a phone call on LTE only and it doesnt work, so I am sort of confused now
Edit: I guess i shouldve thought about what VoLTE meant, and how i had it toggled off.

1x is voice only, 3G is data only.
Generally speaking (sans dual radio devices), one cannot run at the same time as another which is why Verizon never had voice and data at the same time before LTE.
I've found much better battery life with VoLTE on, if the LTE signal is strong.

Thank you! I've had it off for so long because I didnt care about the voice/data feature but now Ill have to try it out since I understand how it operates. I have a stronger LTE signal than I do 1x signal so im hoping it will help. I also toggled mobile network mode to LTE/GSM because it now only scans for LTE as far as i could tell so it may save some battery by not worrying about the 1x signal... just speculation

If you are really brave, set your radio to LTE/GSM/UMTS and try that out.
I *believe* that should work only on VoLTE, and would turn off 1x.
I believe you can set LTE only with a google play app too.

Yes that is what I meant when i said LTE/GSM... I dont see why it wouldnt work. Advnaced signal status app is only registering LTE so i guess thats a good sign
My network doesn't currently support voice over LTE (VoLTE) so everytime I receive a call my signal switches back to 3G (H) or 2G (E). I noticed that after a call, it takes time for my S8 Plus to switch back to LTE. Is there an engineering or advanced configuration settings that can be set so that after a voice call the signal goes back to LTE immediately?
This maybe not an impossible thing because I noticed on some other mobile phone brands that the switching back to LTE signal after a voice call is kinda fast (within 2 to 3 seconds) after a voice call.
Thanks
I had a Sony Xperia Z3c on T-mobile. It was an unlocked phone. When I made a call it would switch to 3g because the phone does not support voice over LTE. Most of the time it would take a while to switch to LTE again unless i went into airplane mode or turned data off for at least 10 seconds OR what seemed like if I was driving maybe it would connect to another tower.
So maybe it's normal with phones that don't have VoLTE?

Hi! I am experiencing faster switching on other brands like Huawei and LG. They switch from 3G or 2G to LTE between 2 to 3 seconds after calls.
And yes, that is correct. I usually switch my phone's airplane mode on and off to get the LTE signal back faster.

When I turn on mobile data (Airtel 4G), the data works fine on 4G. But, when I receive a call, the data automatically goes to 2G/3G and when the call is over, the data doesn't come back to 4G immediately, it takes 3-4 minutes to come back to 4G. How to fix this problem? On my redmi note 5 pro data immediately changes to 4G after call.

Our device's connectivity is inferior compared to RN5 pro. Happens with me on Vodafone.
You can try - reset the access point names to default.
Doesn't airtel's VoLTE work?
Airtel Volte doesnt work on my zenfone but on my redmi note 5 pro it works.
Weird, must be a bug, mine is normal
4g before call, H on call, 4g immediately after call

As i wrote in another thread, i'm facing similar issues. Slow hang-up, slow switch, poor 4g performance. I wrote at the italian support and on the asus zentalk support here: https://www.asus.com/zentalk/thread-236917-1-1.html
Please report the problems with network to Asus, in my thread or with another if you prefer, but tell to them, so that they understand that it's a common problem and they have to work on to fix it
Any solution guys?
On Sprint's Network, unlocked bootloader & critical partitions. Anytime I even receive a notification for a phone call coming in, my LTE is dropped instantly. Deny or hang up the call, it comes back. I've read that Sprint's 3G can't handle voice and data at the same time, but this is 4G. Wifi is also completely useless on this phone as it stays connected for about 60 seconds tops.
Tried doing a complete wipe and reset to both Pie stable and Q beta 6, same exact thing. Tried all the network options in settings and nothing.
Does anyone with Sprint have working LTE during a phone call? I'm trying to figure out if it's a **** copy I got from Amazon, or the network. Thanks.

I have the issue. I also can't get LTE+ to work either. I'm on Boost, but they use Sprint. All stock roms and I can't get 4G at all on custom roms. I bought mine directly from Essential.

I can't say anything about Sprint, but VoLte on Verizon behaves the same way for me on Q beta 6. If the radio cycles for any reason I lose VoLte even if it shows selected. I have to toggle it in network settings for it to work.
Just curious, if you go into the phone info with *#*#4636#*#*, does it show that VoLte is provisioned?

It's grayed out for me. I can't enable it. Maybe calling Boost customer service might result in fixing it.

Okay I'll explain you the situation.
I play clash of clans and it works on internet connection. Yesterday I was playing it and my mom called on my phone. I didn't pick I just pushed up the call notification. I started getting weak signal message in game and my connection was lost.
After that I received a call again then I put call on speaker and turn on Data to use WhatsApp. When I send message it doesn't go. I think my internet connection stops when call is going on. Is it clear now? Sorry my Ingles is bad.

Yes it's lot more clear now. And about your issue, could it be a solution to use the "data during calls" toggle under your sim settings? Honestly, I don't know much about it, as I never have faced the scenario you just described. Anyway, if this doesn't help, I hope someone with a better idea will answer you. Good luck!

It is normal, you are playing games in 4g/LTE mode but when you got a call your sim mode needs to switch to 3g mode. That's the reason you got a slower internet connection while there is calling. The VoLTE mode is what you need, for you to use data connection while you are talking to someone in a call, but i think you sim card doesn't support VoLTE mode. Try to research about your sim card if it's VoLTE capable. Here in the philippines there is no VoLTE capable sim. I hope this helps. Thanks.

Do you have the volte icon on status bar? Maybe you network preference (GSM/WCDMA/LTE) is wrong, trying to use 2G/3G if available, instead 4G. Try to switch to "LTE only" and check if you can make call.

Not enough, you need to have volte (4G voice) activated on your sim card too!
I tried lte mode but can't use data while in call.
If in call the connection mode change from LTE/4G to H/3G or 2G, you don't have volte. Try to call somebody, and check the status bar network icon. Only 4G with volte able to have call and data same time.
I recently get volte working on my phone (after sending a "I want volte" mail to service provider).
This depend on service provider, some activating volte only for "officially supported" phones (my case), some automatically for all, and some have 4G network only for data and for voice using only the "old" 3G/2G.
