How do the speakers compare to those of the Note 2? I'm discussing in terms of both loudness and audio quality. Are there distortions at maximum volume? Is the quality comparable to the top HTC phones?
The Note 3 had some pretty lackluster speakers, and they were a downgrade compared to those of the Note 2.
On that note, will the DAC for the Qualcomm version be their integrated sound solution and the Wolfson DAC again for the Exynos versions?
Of course you know not a single one of these has been sold yet, so how can you ask a question like this?
If it's like S5 it will be louder than my z2. Let's wait and see.
I hope it's at least as good as the Note 2. I felt like the Note 3 speaker was a downgrade in the loudness department.
In that Russian review they stated the Note 4 speaker was louder then the Note 3 one.

I just checked out the Note 4 at a local Best Buy and I'm happy with everything, but the speaker.
It is indeed louder than the Note 3's, but not by much. It has great highs, but the midrange is tinny sounding and nowhere as full or as loud as my LG G3's speaker. I rely heavily on the speakerphone so this was a disappointment, but I'll buy the phone anyways.
Is it only mine or the note 4 loudspeaker sucks?
The sound distorts its scratchy when it is in its max volume.
Note 3 was better. ?
Notification Sound is also scratchy with max volume

I find the sound of the Note 4 to be much better than the Note 3. Much Much better. I have the 910C Exynos version.

On my note 3 snapdragon I was using a volume hack to boost overall volume level, while on note 4 I find the sound level is much better, I still find it a little low on speaker phone and incall volume. Hope someone can make a volume hack on exynos this time.

I've got a note 2 to compare with, and I find the Note 4 speaker to be much louder and clearer than the note 2. I've also got the Exynos version.

what color is your phones? its funny but i think white one speaker volume is less! every review on black one (like gsmarena) says a very good speaker but the reviews on white one (like phonearena) says its low and tiny, what is it?!

Mine is the White snapdragon ahahah
How can the CPU type affect that much how good or bad the speaker is?
i was in a samsung store yesterday and tested three different kind of note 4 N910C (white, black and another white one in a near store) , tested speaker with default samsung musics and a music that i sent over bluetooth to note 4, with bass enabled in samsung music player or going over volume 12 to 15 the sound was disorted like hell! i couldn't believe what i heard, the quality was good till volume 12 but enabling bass or going over volume 12 makes the sound just awful what is wrong with these devices i tested? it completely made me change my mind of buying this device
It's fairly decent (but will still mod soon as always do to boost max on all outputs)..
The new software coding and virtualization does seem to make the single mono speaker ok and a tad better then the Note 3...also the position is a bit better being lower on the back for landscape media viewing but I'm still very disappointed that they didn't rock this thing with "dual stereo FRONT facing" speakers..
That was what I was hoping for and kind of expecting on this new model but never happened (like IP67 water resistance rating, USB3, wireless charging built in, temp sensor, full metal casing) but such is life....still a great phone but COULD have been more amazing and more of a groundbreaking jump from the 3...

I tested the Note4 today and compared the sound with my Note2. The Note2 sounds better to me and it made me not wanting to upgrade... until I took some photos with the cameras. The Note4 camera takes so much better pictures than my Note2 (probably thanks to the OIS). Still very disappointed with the Note4 speaker though
The Note 4 is far superior to the Note 3 in the sound department.

Hi!
I'm looking to upgrade from my ancient LG G2, and since I'm listening to music a lot (!), I am looking for a phone that could also be an upgrade in terms of audio quality. Other than that, I'm looking for 5.5 inch QHD screen, 3k+ ma/h battery, expandable storage.
Should I go ahead and buy the Edge, or would I be better off waiting for the LG V20, which is rumored to have superior audio quality?
P.S, I'm listening to MP3 files through my Beyerdynamic DX i30.
Thanks in advance!

The S7 Exynos has a pretty good DAC. The Snapdragon version, not so much.
GSMArena tested the audio output of the S7 Edge and turned out pretty neat.
http://www.gsmarena.com/samsung_galaxy_s7_edge-review-1409p8.php
They tested the Exynos variant (European site).
:confused...I think the audio could be better. If it could put 2 speakers in the front like the HTC would be more ideal
I previously owned HTC m7 with stereo speakers. The Samsung s7 is mono and barley ok. Use an external Bluetooth speaker work very well.

Its not very good, very quiet in my opinion, it's a nightmare when trying to use it as a satnav

Great with dual speaker mod
Use bt like jabra. Sound better. But not from s7 edge.

It's "eh". Really nothing special. Not bad, but it definitely doesn't stand out. I would hold off and wait for the V20 if that's your main focus with a device.
S7 Edge has a a wolfson DAC (Exynos). Its good, but its not HTC 10 or Axon 7 good.
Just flash the soundmod and use "viper4android" and you will have a georgeous sound!
I am completely satisfied with the sound. Go for it.
Hello,Increase the volume in the mixer path.xml but how? Headphone volume does not go. too quiet. please help me My Phone is rootet and a Galaxy A5 (2016).
friendly greetings to everyone
Hi there,
I will move your thread in the correct forum dedicated to Samsung Galaxy A5 for more relevant answers.
Good luck
I don't think this can be done. You might wanna look for a portable headphone amp, or headphones with lower impedance (ohm).
Hi, thanks for the reply. Earphones with 16 ohms, I already have. But maybe I can get it to increase the volume in the system. best regards. Sorry my English is not good
It is very upsetting that the sound quality on this phone is not even close to the rich sound found on the Samsung S4 made 3 years before.
Is there anyway I can upgrade the sound chip on this phone? I mostly listen to Music on Youtube, Soundcloud and other streams.
for having the s4 also, I find the g6 much better, either via headphones or via the speaker (which is really good for a mono positioned on one side)
I selected the equalizer "QuadBeat", the sound is rich and detailed, yet my model is the h870, it does not have the quad DAC but the quality is superb
Sent from my LG G6 using XDA Labs
What? You are comparing Galaxy S4 and G6? ? H870 (without quad DAC) have pretty solid DAC and AMP, and detailed test showed that even the Galaxy S8 Exynos haven't better audio chip than G6 H870 with standard DAC. Bottom firing speaker is also crispy and very detailed. Galaxy S4, oh man please don't...
