I hate them. I use PieControl all the time.

I did. I used the Edge features for about 2 days and decided it was pointless for me. Just another drain on battery and something else eating up system memory.
Personally, I only bought the Edge due to the larger display, larger battery and I just liked the way it looked.

LOL, Yes, Bigger display and battery lol. I came from my S5 using a 5600 maH Hyperion Extended Battery. Don't know what life would be life on the S7, although my S7 Edge doesn't seem to be getting the life some are reporting here. Verizon S7 Edge Black Onyx.
Same here. Will never use them so I turned off.

I only turned off Edge Feeds and Light, as they make the screen have sensors "ON" even screen is off so it drains battery.

Hey all!
I noticed today that when I was on wifi (great Signal) browsing the web through the stock internet app my phone was getting hot. No other apps were open to my knowledge.
While my phone was hot and I was browsing the battery went from 100% to 92% in about 40 minutes. That seems a little fast considering I was at ~30% brightness
This is the 5th Day with the phone so I'd like to assume after 5 full charge cycles that im in the standard use phase and should be seeing actual battery life and performance
And Of Course ANDROID SYSTEM and OS are taking about 35% combined -__-
I'm getting about 4 Hours of SOT at the end of a 12-15 hour day.
This seems mediocre considering I would push about 3.5 hours with my s6 (Pink tint screen problems tho, Thank god they fixed that on s7)
What are you guys getting on average?
[T-mobile Gold Galaxy S7 Snapdragon SoC]
Package disabler Pro- T-Mo bloat disabled and about 6-7 other Pinks

in Good signal area throughout most of day except between mountains on a 30 minute commute twice a day.
Also, for the love of god when posting your battery stats PLEASE specify which CPU variant and if you have S7 or S7 Edge, huge difference in battery size!

That's quite okay because I have the S7 Edge on T-Mobile and my phone also does the same exact thing when on WiFi.

The CPU Temo app is showing 42-44C when im on the internet app with nothing else really open. Its rather annoying that it does this despite the heat pipe that was put in the phone.

Agree. I am not impressed by the recent Qualcomm CPUs, don't know what the fuss is about them with all the overheating issues. I had no issues with the exynos chip on my old S6E.
Plz use the battery thread that is already made thanks+
REQUIRES ROOT
So some of the users of the S7 and S7 Edge are saying they are getting below 4 or 5 hours of SOT with normal use. Today, I have a solution that worked for me and I hope it will work for you. I only own a Exynos S7 and so I'm not sure if it will work for other devices. But do try it out if you are getting bad battery life.
Remember try this ONLY if you are getting bad battery life. If you are getting good (5 or 6+ SOT S7) battery life then you are okay.
First of all, I would assume you are using some kind of battery life saving app (because who doesn't want better battery life) like Naptime, Power nap, Amplify, Greenify, etc. Now just uninstall of all the Power saving apps. This may sound bad, but trust me.
Next, install a custom kernel. I would recommend Modified Stock kernel as it's not over clocked and Prometheus kernel as you can under volt the CPU. Do not over clock the CPU if you do not need to.
Lastly use the smart manager in the S7. Settings-> Battery->App Power Saving and select the apps to save battery.
Let the phone go through a few cycles before reporting back
Let me know if I helped you and a 'Thanksâ?? would be appreciated.
I'm on S7.

Cause you have 4 hours SOT with 55% left and 6 hours use. There's no way to get that SOT unless you have it in airplane mode with minimum brightness starring at a black screen. And I thought it was the edge cause of the white thingy on the right that the edge have.

You were watching Netflix for 4 hours and yet the Netflix app is not in first 2 places? Assuming the Netflix app is third at best then that means that it has less than 11% (Android System). You could be right but I doubt it, I'd love to see a screenshot from when you get at 15% with total SOT and the apps that were used.
Double your battery life (and possibly even triple) through a hardware "tweak"
Hi guys, I'd like to share a trick to increase the battery life of your SGS6 by 2x and even 3x but the 3x I will only test in the second week of March.
So I am trying to endure using the SGS6 because it's becoming a pain in the ass hard resetting it, installing an "optimized" ROM and installing all the "great" and "recommended" app tweaks or xposed modules to increase battery life and reduce lag...
Now for the battery life, I finally found something that works and it's actually pretty simple and it will work without having to install, reset or change anything to your phone's software...
Just change the battery to that of the SGS7!
The Samsung Galaxy S6 actually has a larger space allocated for a battery than is necessary for the battery of the SGS7 so it fits fine even though the SGS7 battery is a bit thicker!
And when I was using my phone at about light usage, I got 9 hours 30 minutes out of the SGS6 battery (which goes down dramatically when I'm using it more frequently) I have doubled that time by simply buying a SGS7 battery and using the phone the same way I did last time! So I'm at 20 hours of light use with the SGS7 battery installed in my SGS6.
Now I mentioned that the battery of the SGS7 is smaller than the compartment of the SGS6 is. So what I've done is I bought the battery of the SGS7 Edge (which is larger than that of the SGS7) and I will see if I can install that battery in the SGS6!
If that would be possible, I expect at least 27 hours of light use since we're moving from a 2600mAh battery (SGS6) to a 3000mAh battery (SGS7) to a 3600mAh battery (SGS7 Edge)
I'll update you on whether or not the SGS6 can fit the SGS7 Edge battery or not, next week!
So this is my little trick to drastically increase the battery life of your Samsung Galaxy S6 and I'm doing this so I can endure using the phone a little longer until the iPhone 8 comes out cause I'm tired of the great phones that use the ****ty Android OS (Android really ****s up any phone... just look at the specs of the SGS7 and that of the iPhone 7s and even though the SGS7 has better specs and a much better battery, the iPhone beats it on all aspects when looking at the user experience... I rant on more about why I'm going to switch every Windows and Android product I own in this post: https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=71264869&postcount=19

The battery being thicker leaves the S6's cover close normal ??
And of cause it is totally simple to change the battery and it's safe to not burn your device... forget it.
There is allready a thread in the accessories departement. I have put an s7 edge battery in mine and it works wonders! The only thing you need to take into account is that the s7 edge battery is 1mm thicker than the s6. What I have done, is I used multiple layers of tape to fit the backcover.
I have the battery installed for 1 month I think, and still no issues. Check the other thread for more information and experiences of other people.

Better using the money otherwise spent (wasted) on a "genuine" battery towards saving for a new phone.
Also works with s6 edge? Any difference ?

It does but that is an extremely hard phone to get apart, and if you crack the screen it costs about the same to fix it as it would for a new one. Not worth the risk imo

Nope, the s6 uses a different battery. The connection is not on the same side sadly. On the s6 it's on the top left and connects on the motherboard from above, on the s6 edge it's on the right side and it comes from under the motherboard back up on the side of the phone. So it's not that easy.
I already search all kind of battery's from other Samsung phones but did not yet find any which looks kinda the same.
In my experience, especially on 4G LTE, Samsung standby is rather poor. How would you say the Exynos S8 does?

First 2 days mine was poor. But that was because I used smart switch to get everything from my S6. Then I realised battery drained fast. So I hard reset the phone again and installed all over. Just copied the video's and pics afterwards. Now the battery life is great. I don't know the screen on time because I keep the battery between 30% and 80%. But still I start use it at 80% and at the end of the day it is around 30%.

What theme is that?
I just got 43 hours total and 6.5 hours of SOT.
Best power efficiency I've ever seen in a phone.
Also read something online that the battery should retain about 95% of charge after a year of use. Hopefully this holds up!!!
8+ theme is mat black
Up.
How does the battery life of the S8 Exynos compare to the S7 Exynos , I plan to upgrade soon, just wanted to know if it worsened or anything due to the bigger display
Thanks!

Standby time never was a big quality on Android in general and Samsung in particular. iOS does a much better job in that chapter.

Just fitted a new Patona S7 edge battery and combined a few software mods I got over 2days and 6 hours SOT out of the first charge. Totally insane considering I was getting about 18 hours and 4 hours before on a Vhbw S7e battery.
These stats are on normal mode (ie not power saving) with Bluetooth and wifi on. GPS on battery saving though and WiFi scanning turned off. I'm using an s8+ port with greenify and forcedoze.
Dude that's awsome
What about back cover does it fit perfectly or is bubbly where battery sits
Sry bad eng but i think u get me
Hi, it fits fine. It is very slightly raised on battery side by a tiny unnoticeable amount so I wouldn't say it is flush but such a small amount it doesn't show, just a fraction of a mm. I will post some photos tomorrow. I did strip out the nfc and wireless charging and took the paper wrap off the battery and removed all adhesive from under the battery to save as much space as possible. It was worth it though.
Do you think the case would hide this?
Nice mod man, but aint out there, aftermarket batteries with higher capacity than the stock ones?
I'd be very suspicious of aftermarket batteries claiming extended battery life as there are nearly always fake. However, the S7e battery is 3600mah compared to the s6 2550mah and patona is a well respected manufacturer. It certainly seems to be good quality judging by the battery life I've been getting from it.

Definitely as it is barely noticeable anyway.
Photos below show the back. As you can see it is totally flush with the top and bottom and it is raised by a fraction of a mm on the battery side but it is so miniscule you would never notice unless you look really closely. There is no gap but just doesn't sit quite as flush as standard but to the untrained eye you couldn't even tell.

I removed the Nfc and wireless charging pad to free up a little more space and it fits nearly perfectly. There is a miniscule raise but it's a fraction of a mm and you would not notice it unless you look really hard.
A few weeks down the line I'm still getting amazing battery life. This was the last charge cycle I did and I got over a day and still had over 40% charge left
Search for Patona s7 edge battery. I think I got mine off amazon but can't be sure. They are a German company I believe.

No, because the s7 edge and s7 have the connector on the other side of the battery. I am not aware of anyone finding a battery to swap for the s6 edge I'm afraid.
S6 active battety can fit s6 edge i heard. But i can't find battery for s6 active to try.

I wanna ask how the phone recognise the new battery because there is huge differences between batteries? Did you use custom rom or kernel and did you do something special so the phone to show correct percentage ?
