Amazing battery life - 48hrs including 6 hours screen on time - Galaxy S6 General

Just fitted a new Patona S7 edge battery and combined a few software mods I got over 2days and 6 hours SOT out of the first charge. Totally insane considering I was getting about 18 hours and 4 hours before on a Vhbw S7e battery.
These stats are on normal mode (ie not power saving) with Bluetooth and wifi on. GPS on battery saving though and WiFi scanning turned off. I'm using an s8+ port with greenify and forcedoze.

Dude that's awsome
What about back cover does it fit perfectly or is bubbly where battery sits
Sry bad eng but i think u get me

Hi, it fits fine. It is very slightly raised on battery side by a tiny unnoticeable amount so I wouldn't say it is flush but such a small amount it doesn't show, just a fraction of a mm. I will post some photos tomorrow. I did strip out the nfc and wireless charging and took the paper wrap off the battery and removed all adhesive from under the battery to save as much space as possible. It was worth it though.

Do you think the case would hide this?

Nice mod man, but aint out there, aftermarket batteries with higher capacity than the stock ones?

I'd be very suspicious of aftermarket batteries claiming extended battery life as there are nearly always fake. However, the S7e battery is 3600mah compared to the s6 2550mah and patona is a well respected manufacturer. It certainly seems to be good quality judging by the battery life I've been getting from it.

Definitely as it is barely noticeable anyway.
Photos below show the back. As you can see it is totally flush with the top and bottom and it is raised by a fraction of a mm on the battery side but it is so miniscule you would never notice unless you look really closely. There is no gap but just doesn't sit quite as flush as standard but to the untrained eye you couldn't even tell.

I removed the Nfc and wireless charging pad to free up a little more space and it fits nearly perfectly. There is a miniscule raise but it's a fraction of a mm and you would not notice it unless you look really hard.
A few weeks down the line I'm still getting amazing battery life. This was the last charge cycle I did and I got over a day and still had over 40% charge left
Search for Patona s7 edge battery. I think I got mine off amazon but can't be sure. They are a German company I believe.

I am thinking to change the battery with an s7e one because after school 6:40-1:30 I have only 30-50% battery heavy usage to normal
can you share a link where I can buy this battery ?....thanks!

No, because the s7 edge and s7 have the connector on the other side of the battery. I am not aware of anyone finding a battery to swap for the s6 edge I'm afraid.

S6 active battety can fit s6 edge i heard. But i can't find battery for s6 active to try.

I wanna ask how the phone recognise the new battery because there is huge differences between batteries? Did you use custom rom or kernel and did you do something special so the phone to show correct percentage ?

I have buy a chinese battery and i plan to change it these days . One russian guy claims that it fit perfectly in the phone. My question is did you do someting special that the phone to rocognise the correct capacity of the new battery? Are you using custom rom or kernel? Sorry for bad english!

Hi, i'm using a custom s8+ rom with a custom kiboi kernel which recognises the 3600 mah battery.

An extended battery to make the phone even bigger? no thanks...

I always have this in my bag with me when i know my phone is going to need a recharge:
http://www.energizerpowerpacks.com/au/products/xp4001/
better than a bulky phone
I've had this...
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0..._m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_r=0H4VE9S6N61AVK449HTZ
I prefer either an external USB battery or just carry a spare battery (when its available) depend on what I'm doing and where I'm going.
The good thing is that with the 'full' back the Note won't be ugly as death:
i.e. it'll be like this:
www.youtube.com/watch?v=mks7ubUi6Ik
That's very chunky though. I'd rather just keep an extra battery on me.
I used to keep one in the car and/or my wallet, if I was running low.

the only saving grace from how big the Note is is how slim it is... take that away and it'll feel massive in your jeans.
but i do love extended batteries

I would prefer to just purchase an additional 2500 mAh battery or two and keep them with me rather than use something which will just add bulk to the device. The Galaxy Note gets great battery life as it is without a larger extended battery.
I too would rather have a spare battery ready than have a bulkier battery. If there was a higher capacity battery that was the same size (like there is for the Nexus One) then I would buy that but I would niot want to increase the thickness of the phone with a thicker battery.

Hi All, i just bought Galaxy Note two days ago. it's bad of battery. i use GNote only in 4 hours then battery is empty. Any one have suggestion (tweaks) to improve GNote life time.

Reason using only 4h is romkj4 not yet rooted, background apps is a lot. Light screen minimum, off gps, off gsm, on only wifi. But during 4h i'm factory reset note 3 times. Download, install and uninstall a lot apps. View HD video clips around 10 minutes. Thats all.

The only thing I know of that could drain this thing in 4 hours is watching streaming video. I know mine will burn 15% battery in about 20 min.
i would find a 5000 mah model....... or just a samsung ORIGINAL battery at 3000mah.. with just 1mm more.........
like the galaxy s2.... with original 2000mah battery that DOES NOT CHANGE the real thickness of the phone( just add 1 or 2 mm if i remember correctrly).
so a 3000 mah ....with just 1mm more IS THE PERFECT SOLUTION

I didn't know they released the 2000mah battery. I would have paid a small fortune for that if it fit in the standard protective cases. Ya, 3000mah or a little more for the Note would be great.
I get just over 2 days with average use, good enough, I'm happy and see no need for a larger battery...

[Q] Battery Life

Hello Guys,
I have a new Samsung Focus, around 3 days old.. I have been given a 1650 mAH battery. The battery life is terrible, discharges like 10% in one hour with hardly any usage with Wifi OFF, Edge ON, auto brightness and all the power saver methods applied.
Should i charge it overnight or something ? Like 12 hours at a stretch or something?
Pls help
I'd take the battery out and feel it. If it's a Samsung battery, it should be perfectly flat on the sides. I was having terrible battery life, and it was because the battery had gone so bad that it was bulging.

Can you please detail your WP7 OS build, if it's an OEM Samsung battery or a generic one? It looks like you have a bad battery, same conditions as yours my one year+ OEM battery holds 3days+
There's also a specific thread for battery life I started a while ago over here
The battery is curved on the left and right sides, flat on the top and bottom. Its a SAMSUNG battery EB575152LU 1650 mAh. I am not sure if its OEM or generic
OS version : 7.10.7720.68
Should i ask the seller to send me a 1500mAh NEW battery? mayb thats causing the issues?
Or I should wait for a few charge cycles to complete?

With the infos that you just shared, it looks as the battery has gone bad.
I wasn't aware of an OEM battery 1650 mAh, see my reply here. Can you confirm it looks like that or maybe post a photo of it?
Keep in mind that cheap batteries look like those but there are significant differences, but you'd need an original battery for comparison.
Even one of my chinese cheap batteries still holds 70-80% of the regular battery... (that's 2+ days in the conditions you mentioned above)
It looks just like the one in your post, except for 1650mAh. Looks like original/OEM Samsung.. will send pics once i get home.
Morning charge was at 100% . Hardly any usage, some amount of whatsapp texting, now phone is switched off
The seller has agreed to send a replacement battery. I am just hoping that it is not a phone fault or Mango update screwed it up. Can it be a phone issue?
Checked on amazon, one guy said The battery does not hold charge, otehr said that NEAR FIELD COMMUNICATIOn should be written below Samsung, which is not the case in mine.

7720 has quite good battery life so shouldn't be a phone issue. I have 2 Focuses and both hold about the same and from what I've read so far, only a big hardware problem (like phone overheating) could cause so dramatic battery discharge. Also, weak network signal might cause faster drainage, but not at this rate. You can try switching 3G off (lowering to EDGE) and see if it makes any difference.
Hmm.. I even turned off 3G. Let me check again.
If I install any customs WP7 roms , will it make a difference.?
I 'll re check once i get the new batteries..

The dft/miro custom roms offer better battery life, but by a margin, don't expect miracles. Your battery should be able to hold more than a day in your conditions, and I bet that's to blame in your case.
Let us know how it goes with the new battery.
Thanks for your help.
Now, the battery life has increased quite a bit.. getting around 12 hours on a full charge using the same 1650mAh battery . new one is yet to arrive.
Heard 8107 update considerably increases the battery life? but i have ATT uncloked focus in India. If i use ChevronWP7 to unlock it , it gets relocked on zune sync right? I am confused as to "relock" here is whether Carrier relock like I cannot use my local GSM sim here? or developer relock? I am sorry, new to all this

Read my post here. Ignore any flashing, just understand the steps and what's written there (eg: Flashing, downgrading, upgrading firmware etc does not affect Network Unlock).
Basically, after you unlock with WindowsBreak project, you just need to run steps 3 and 4 there.

Double your battery life (and possibly even triple) through a hardware "tweak"
Hi guys, I'd like to share a trick to increase the battery life of your SGS6 by 2x and even 3x but the 3x I will only test in the second week of March.
So I am trying to endure using the SGS6 because it's becoming a pain in the ass hard resetting it, installing an "optimized" ROM and installing all the "great" and "recommended" app tweaks or xposed modules to increase battery life and reduce lag...
Now for the battery life, I finally found something that works and it's actually pretty simple and it will work without having to install, reset or change anything to your phone's software...
Just change the battery to that of the SGS7!
The Samsung Galaxy S6 actually has a larger space allocated for a battery than is necessary for the battery of the SGS7 so it fits fine even though the SGS7 battery is a bit thicker!
And when I was using my phone at about light usage, I got 9 hours 30 minutes out of the SGS6 battery (which goes down dramatically when I'm using it more frequently) I have doubled that time by simply buying a SGS7 battery and using the phone the same way I did last time! So I'm at 20 hours of light use with the SGS7 battery installed in my SGS6.
Now I mentioned that the battery of the SGS7 is smaller than the compartment of the SGS6 is. So what I've done is I bought the battery of the SGS7 Edge (which is larger than that of the SGS7) and I will see if I can install that battery in the SGS6!
If that would be possible, I expect at least 27 hours of light use since we're moving from a 2600mAh battery (SGS6) to a 3000mAh battery (SGS7) to a 3600mAh battery (SGS7 Edge)
I'll update you on whether or not the SGS6 can fit the SGS7 Edge battery or not, next week!
So this is my little trick to drastically increase the battery life of your Samsung Galaxy S6 and I'm doing this so I can endure using the phone a little longer until the iPhone 8 comes out cause I'm tired of the great phones that use the ****ty Android OS (Android really ****s up any phone... just look at the specs of the SGS7 and that of the iPhone 7s and even though the SGS7 has better specs and a much better battery, the iPhone beats it on all aspects when looking at the user experience... I rant on more about why I'm going to switch every Windows and Android product I own in this post: https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=71264869&postcount=19

The battery being thicker leaves the S6's cover close normal ??
And of cause it is totally simple to change the battery and it's safe to not burn your device... forget it.
There is allready a thread in the accessories departement. I have put an s7 edge battery in mine and it works wonders! The only thing you need to take into account is that the s7 edge battery is 1mm thicker than the s6. What I have done, is I used multiple layers of tape to fit the backcover.
I have the battery installed for 1 month I think, and still no issues. Check the other thread for more information and experiences of other people.

Better using the money otherwise spent (wasted) on a "genuine" battery towards saving for a new phone.

It does but that is an extremely hard phone to get apart, and if you crack the screen it costs about the same to fix it as it would for a new one. Not worth the risk imo

Nope, the s6 uses a different battery. The connection is not on the same side sadly. On the s6 it's on the top left and connects on the motherboard from above, on the s6 edge it's on the right side and it comes from under the motherboard back up on the side of the phone. So it's not that easy.
I already search all kind of battery's from other Samsung phones but did not yet find any which looks kinda the same.

Is this battery consumption normal?

Hi all,
I just come with this Screenshots to know your opinion on the consumption of my s5. Honestly Im jealous of those people getting 4,5hours of SOT in a full charge. I believe I can barely achieve 2h. My phone is rooted, de bloated with smart debloater and uses Greenify (which has not provided me a noticeable gain).
I've seen a very big drain just after plugging off the phone (like 5 or 6%) in two hours without using it. Also everything I unlock the phone the drain is very fast. So idle state seems no to be the cause
What are your thoughts? Thanks in advance.
By the way, while writing this post I've lost 5% of charge.

Need a new battery I think and with the battery you gotta keep it cool, don't charge you phone and use it when its under 20 ℅. And the hotter the battery gets the faster it will discharge and if your charging at the same time the CPU will work harder to charge the battery and do whatever you want to do with your phone making it a double whammy wearing out your battery much faster than normal. You not supposed to let our batteries to go below 20 %. Well you can but don't use it at the same time your charging.

Thank you very much for your information. Any suggestion about a new battery? I've seen this one.
I've just plugged off from 100% and I got a battery drain of 5% just by speaking 15 minutes (no hand-free). I think it's a very big battery drain for just a small talk. I think that confirm your hypothesis of the wasted battery.
Is there any way to know the real capacity of the battery I currently have? It is just to know how far it is from its original performance.
I've checked on Go Power Master app and it claims 2520 (at 90%) mah in my battery. Is this confident? If so, I shouldn't expect a big improvement buying a new battery. What about using other roms or making a factory reset?.

How old is your battery? Mah rating and the rate it discharges are different you can discharge 2600 mah batter in an hour or 3 days depending on use and environment and conditions. Like I said before the hotter your battery gets the faster the disharge go same with the cpu the hotter it gets the more power it demands from the battery. And if your battery get under 20% fast charging comes. Into play as well which is bad for the battery as well.
If your dropping off that fast I think is a defective battery or over clocked cpu settings. My s5 did he same till I bought a new battery I last 8-12 hours of heavy use now compared to 4 hours. With a new battery I suggest a higher capacity but same dimensions as the old one they can be expensive but a bigger battery will damage your phone over time.
I have a 5600mah battery now by 5he way.
---------- Post added at 02:46 PM ---------- Previous post was at 02:42 PM ----------
Oh my power app tells me I have 2520 too but I really dont....heh
---------- Post added at 03:12 PM ---------- Previous post was at 02:46 PM ----------
Oh that battery looks OK I can't read the language lol just make sure its not refurbished or used and check out if u can refund it or not lol
My battery is from October 2015. It's the original one that came with the phone
Here is last report:
Despite performance is not the worst, do you think the difference with a new one is very big?
Back in my S3 Mini days I had to change the battery and the difference was huge for it. A year ago I replaced my S5's battery for the first time (I own my black beauty since february 2015) and I remember that I saw an improvement in battery life and in performance a bit as well.
A trick: take out your battery and put it on a flat surface (table or whatever) and try to spin it. If it spins freely, buy new one for sure.
I'd advise you to also update from KitKat to Marshmallow as that made my phone brand new but I see you're on 6.0.1 already so nevermind
I myself lose the first ~10% of my charge in one hour or even less...while not doing literally anything with my screen off. So yeah, maybe it's gonna be time for another replacement in a few months
By the way I tried Greenify today. The drain was far worse than when I didn't have it installed lol. Android Marshmallow is finally that one guy who's capable of handling himself alone without helpers like Greenify so try without it, it eats up your CPU anyway (as minimal as it can be, it still does).
With 3G always enabled I can get between 3 and 4 hours of screen on time (no games ofcourse) and around, idk, 10 hours total time until it hits below 10% and asks for some juice.
This^ was simply impossible with android 4.4.2 on the same phone so 6.0.1 really impressed me a lot as I had awful memories of Lollipop (that's why I didn't update for so long actually).
To sum up: try all the software ways of extending your battery life - with/without Greenify, uninstall/disable/optimise certain apps like Facebook and Spotify (says they slow down my phone), change ROMs, change kernels, change settings and if nothing works get a new battery.
PS: When Samsung go back on track and put a removable battery + all old features in a new flagship, I'm switching to that (S9, S10, SX, whatever xd). Newer phones got water cooling (~30 degrees while gaming, S5 gets 36-40C).
Thank you very much for your long answer. Honestly I don't trust too much battery savers. I've tried in the past many of them with no visible results. In fact greenify has never shown me any benefit. Notwithstanding, in this specific case, I've seen that hibernating "mi fit" (from xiaomi) I can appreciate a considerable improvement (5-10% of gain). I own a mi band and apart from keeping Bluetooth on (which seems not to be a big drainer) mi fit abuses of this connection. In fact "tools & mi band" seems to be more energy efficient with the connection to the mi band.
In any case I'll order a new one as it is not normal to have the drain for 100 to 90 being off and idle
I've changed old battery for a new one and I haven't seen any considerable improvement. After it, I've done a factory reset and a battery calibration (using the app on the store that requires root) and nothing... Any suggestion? I have the feeling that new battery is OK but somehow my phone is unable to take advantage of its performance...

I'd advise you to also update from KitKat to Marshmallow as that made my phone brand new but I see you're on 6.0.1 already so nevermind :..

Ive just unplugged it 50 minutes ago and I have 10 percent left with only 10 minutes screen off... There is something wrong and I don't think the two batteries (old and new) are in bad state in the same way... There may be something else..
Have you tried to install the stock firmware through odin? PS: Read the instruction before trying it!!!

Make nandroid backup with TWRP and flash official firmware. That's just not normal for any kind of battery (good or bad)

Right now I have DreamUX V2 A7 (2017). I flashed one week ago hoping to remove this strange battery behavior. But it remains. Do you think reflashing stock firmware will fix it? I'll check instructions before going ahead. Thanks to both!

If it gets fixed after firmware reinstall then it's a software bug. If it gets fixed after changing the battery then it's a hardware bug. If it doesn't get fixed after trying both things then it's black magic :s
Also try to clear dalvik-cache and cache and do factory reset before and after flashing.

OK I'll go ahead with this. Good guide to reflash stock rom?
I'll do several factory resets to see if it helps, but I start to think that it's black magic
Thanks
Sorry for the delay in replaying but I've made several attempts with not specially good results.
Now I'm getting 24 hours battery with 2h SOC for WhatsApp and browsing. Furthermore, I use Bluetooth for the miband.
The battery drop from 100 to 90 still remains. Maybe it's smoother but significant.
I've changed battery, changed roms (several times wiping everything). I've tried battery calibration app from rooted devices. I've tried the calibration procedure for non root devices (here I think I've obtained a little bit of improvement) but in general I have the feeling my phone is not detecting well the capacity of the battery (either new or old). Any tip? Advice?. Could it be the charging circuit? Can it be fixed? Should I keep doing calibrations more often to see if I grasp more capacity little by little?
Thanks for your time and help

surprisingly most batteries (Even blatant knockoffs) have the advertised capacity, except the 3600 mAh ones. Just grab a Cameron Sino or one of the original-looking ones and you'll be fine
I got a replacement OEM from the states for 5 quid - it was the cheapest on ebay at the time. Works perfectly. My phone returned to it's formal glory, except for Quick Charging which was broken before.
Just ordered this one: it's supposed to be for the Axon 7s which I think as the same structure inside, so it must fit well. Seems legit, 3320mAh as the Axon 7s is 3400 mAh
Battery Aliexpress
And 2 speakers as the bottom one seems non fonctional and the top one is not sounding good anymore
3650mAh-LI3931T44P8h756346-Battery-For-ZTE-Axon-7-Battery-5-5inch-A2017- Have anyone tried this 3650mah battery

I'm still waiting for the battery, this is Aliexpress
For the 3650 mAh, just a little search on the forum will answer your question, or a search on Aliexpress. SPOILER: it's a 3200mAh
Just received my battery.
Just a reminder, it was supposed to be a battery for Axon 7s which has a greater capacity.
The battery I received is a standard yellow one for Axon 7 with ZTE logo.
I'm too busy to install it right now, I hope it's a legit one and has a standard capacity.
Conclusion: you can't find any Axon 7s battery
I ordered mine off Amazon called Cameron Sino like someone here said earlier and it's working good for now I hope it stays this way for a while. I've read about 3rd party batteries degrading too fast compared to oem ones. Almost doubled my battery life compared to a 2 year old battery i was using before this
How difficult was it to do the replacement?

For my first time I would say not too bad but I did end up scratching the speaker grills and ordering a replacement. To me, getting the speaker cover out was harder than the actual battery. I've posted some sot screenshots in a different thread if u are interested in seeing them. And as a first timer also have advice for others who want to try it as well so they don't make the same mistakes as me. It can be worth it if u don't care about keeping your device that mint anymore. But it can still also be mint depending how good u are at replacing it. If u use a case, the scratches can be covered up anyways. Imo I would say only do it if u had your phone for too long or got bored of it. Once u know how to do it perfectly, this can almost futureproof the phone and u might not feel like switching anymore. Another time to do it could be when u order an already used one for less than half the price of a new and have nothing to lose. Replacing the battery will make it feel new again and u just got yourself a good deal. There are a bunch for sale either on swappa or ebay. I think people usually sell their phones because battery degradation is the main reason and they went for a new phone instead of replacing it themselves
I need a battery replacement too.
I get 1.30 hours screen on time and Battery Saver is enabled all the time.
If I use WiFi I lose 1 percent every 30/60 seconds.
I need it mostly on screen.
I checked accubattery multiple times once it said 1.950 mah left and now 2.150 mah.
I'm running Android 9 but I got worse results on older Versions of Android. I don't even play games now.
Is this all battery fault?

Yes probably!
So you get better battery performance with Android 9 than Stock Oreo beta?

Sorry for the late reply. I posted a few screenshots in schwifty kernel thread but u have to go back a few pages. There are more than 1 post with 3 different days if u go back more

Right now I'm currently testing oreo beta rom which can't use that kernel

I dunno if you replaced your battery since posting, but I had the same levels of battery degradation as you. I just changed my battery... And this thing is flying again and not feeling like it'll shutdown after 3-4 hours of use. It's crazy how much my device was throttling with the old battery.
Be careful not to damage the screen ribbon. Also not to over heat the grills distorting them. The glue on the camera glass has to go during assembly.
