Hi i have problem with my s5 display, it starts going crazy like scrolling up constantly, when i use it and then switch the power button to shut thr display the phone does not power back up unless i remove battery, otherwise the two button lights only show.
Prior to this problem, it started when my mic at the bottom stopped working, and then the pinnacle point was when i unrooted my s5 and rebooted, immediately the colors turned to different tints of colours.
The next day it started going all fuzzy and scrolling up.
Took it to samsung but waa refused as i found out about the knox counter lol
I have my usb port dock part which im ready to replace on my mainboard. But what ia causing the funny display ? I can barely use my phone, the digitizer seems fine aa at times it works for like 5mins.
What ive tried:
Factory reset
Reroot
Phoenix rom
I have a video to show you guys.

Hello! Been using my phone (I9505) for like 2 years now and all worked perfectly. Suddenly, my touchscreen stopped working. After some hours of waiting, it worked back again, but then stopped working as well. After repeating this cycle, today is the first day that I couldn't use my touch screen at all. Touch screen buttons (capacitive buttons I believed they are called) work great. Also, I figured out something, If I press the power key and fastly move my finger around the screen 'till it turns on, it does detect my finger, but after the screen has turned on it doesn't let me use the touchscreen. I've tried reformatting the phone a couple of times but no success (not only factory, but mega wipe as well).
Any help, please?
P.S: Also, forgot to mention, daydream function was activated and it worked well, but when my touchscreen was unresponsive, If I had let my screen turned on, it wouldn't go into it, but simply turn off the screen. I believe it's something to do with deep sleep? (I believe that was a known-problem for the ROM I was using at that time (Albe's lollirom). Atm I'm not using it anymore.
Bump
Maybe you should try going back to stock rom.
Or, when you get one of those moment where it works, go into developer settings and activate the option to show the pointer or touch response.
After 2 years it happens that stuff breaks. Depending on how much care you take of it.
Hey guys, sorry for the late post. I recently purchased the S7 edge AT&T when it first released. Since then, the camera lens has shattered, a small crack has appeared on the bottom left edge, and my power button and volume down keys have stopped working. My experience with the S7 edge has been anything but pleasant. The last of my issues, the power button and volume down, is quite recent. The story is as follows. About 2 weeks ago, I had this exact same problem after installing all my new apps, having just received the brand new phone. For some time, the power button(and volume-down) worked as it should, but 30 minutes later, it just quit functioning. I factory wiped the device and it was fixed. After the wipe, I choose to start the device with a fresh hard drive, meaning I opted not to use any backups, and it worked fine. I installed the apps one by one to see which app was causing the power button to stop working, and no app caused it again. That is, till now. I have not installed any new apps, everything was working fine at 7PM today(its 10PM now), when around 7:30, my power button and volume down bottom stopped working, again. Obviously, the clear fix would be to factory reset the device once again, but does anyone know why this happening, what I can do for a permanent fix, or does this mean I have a defective device?
Thanks, pant2002.

Hi there,
I migrated to LOS two weeks ago and I'm fairly happy with it. It runs really smoothly, however I think I have found a bug. From time to time when I wake up my phone it just shows the clock (with the correct time) on a blue tile. The phone seems to still be working as I can use the flashlight (by pressing and holding the pwr button when in sleepmode), but no matter what I do, I can't do anything useful. I'm stuck on that screen.
I haven't found out what causes this strange behavior.
All I can do is remove the battery and reboot.
Has anyone else come across this phenomenon and knows more than I do?
[Edit:]
Can't post the picture, as I don't have enough posts yet

Update:
I had to go back to CM as the phone function didn't work.
I do like LOS 14.1 a lot, however all the features are of little use if people at the other hand can't hear me
So much for now. I'll probably try LOS again at a later time, when more of the issues are fixed.
Thanx
johntwenty
Alright,
I've gone back to LOS 14.1. and installed the most recent nightly build lineage-14.1-20170315-nightly-klte-signed.zip.
The phenomenon described above is still present, however, I noticed that if I hit the back button within one or two seconds, my phone will get back to normal. If I wait longer, there is no way to recover without removing the battery.
I hope that this information might help.
Cheers

Yes. Experiencing exactly this. sm-g900v, may 24th Klte.
It was one of the reasons why I've stopped using LOS.
I've read somewhere that you need to disable S-View Cover somewhere in the settings to get rid of this bug.
It was after reflashing to TW ROM, so I haven't tested this solution.
Thanks for feedback. via Google determined s view is flip cover. Completely disabled...see if it continues.
Yes, it's a special Samsung cover which I've never used.
I think that the phone should respond to its magnet.
Since I have no this cover, the phone could be "misled" by a magnet in my bag or something.
Haha...believe may have put it together. Have carried ecig (joytech vtc mini) along with phone in same hand with them touching each other. VTC mini has 2 small strong magnets on 18650 battery cover. It's only occurred half dozen times since using Lineage this last month and has not locked up lock screen since disabling flip cover.
Just one more reason not to smoke :lol
Hi All ,
Where is this S-view cover disable on Galaxy Note 3 please ?
Thanks for info 'flip cover' on setting disabled.
Just want to add that I had this problem again yesterday, after a long while, with Lineage 14.1-20171214-NIGHTLY-klte. Left it like this overnight, same in the morning.
I noticed that many things still work: bluetooth auto connects, sounds are played. Probably everything works except one cannot use the screen.
Connecting adb works, changing screen resolution changes the form of that color rectangle but doesn't help. Reboot via adb works (and I think the force reboot via Power+VolDown also works).

I've had this issue today but noticed I had the S-View-Cover Option enabled. How about you?

Thank you so much for this info. Got the exact same problem on my HTC10 and turning the setting completely off in the settings solved it. I think the reed contact in my phone must be broken or sth... but at least I don't have to restart my phone every time it happens!

Me too! Galaxy S5.
Thanks for tips. I've just use neodymium magnet. I've moved on phone back and Android is usable again without rebooting!
I don't know why sometime phone thinks that cover is used. To many magnetic fields around?
Hi guys, I'm having the same problem with a Note 3 N9005. I installed TWRP 3.2.2.0 and then LineageOS 14.1. After booting the device I see for a second "next" , but the screen jumps too quickly to a blue tile with time and date. There it stucks. I got an ORIGINAL SAMSUNG flip-cover (the one with magnets, cover closed-> screen is off), but even with this thing installed it doesn't work. Same thing happens, blue tile and no responding to the flip cover at all. Disable S-view cover is not an option, as i can't get into the phone's OS at all.
How do i get into the phone's OS and settings? Does the trick with the magnet work for somebody?
Please, explain clearly how you got around this issue. Thanks in advance!

I always delete Flipflap as one of the first things I do on a fresh install. It seems to always act up for me. The trick with the magnet is to pass it across the screen in the area above the recents key, that should trip the smart cover off, then you can disable it in options, or remove the app completely if you have root.
EDIT: Sorry, just noticed you have a Note 3, these instructions are for s5, magnetic sensor may be in different spot on note 3
I was struggling to find the setting to turn off the S View cover on LineageOS 16 on my S5.
Found it in Settings > Connected devices > Connection preferences > Smart Cover
Turn it off via the toggle at the top!
We'll see how it goes! Thanks!
This is also apparently just bad design in Lineageos
for the S5 or whatever layer of software/firmware controls this, as this Blue Screen of Death disables power-button NMI forced reboots: if this happens on a fixed-battery phone, you get to wait until it goes flat, which is why I'll stick with the S5 forever.
Following the instructions, I found and disabled Smart Cover in Connection Preferences (many thanks to whoever figured this out); apparently Lineageos 16 ships with this enabled (bad design). I'd never even heard of a Smart Cover or knew the phone had a magnet gimmick like the tablets do.
One principle of software design which is not widely appreciated is that doing too much is often worse than not doing enough.
i was using my s7 edge today, and in the middle of browsing facebook the screen just went black, the phone didnt die because the navigation buttons still light up when i press back or recent, also i still get notification light, i tried to do a hard reset to restart (holding power and vol down) but the phone and it still has a black screen.. anyone know what i should do? or has this happen to anyone

This happened two days ago with my wife's S7 Edge. She was using it to text me about dinner plans after work, her screen shut off, and it wouldn't work for several hours. The thing was getting very hot. When she was home and charging the phone the screen started working again for a little while, but with several green stripes down the right edge snd aa flashing horizontal band of grey near the top overlaying the screen image. Then when I tried plugging it into my computer to use Samsung's Smart Switch to roll back from the update she had accepted while at work the screen died again. It has not come on since, not even the stripes, and blue or red LED lights once in a wwhile at random. I managed to use Smart Switch to wipe the phone's memory. Then the program took several hours to download something very slowly and install that - a whole new OS update? That completed, and now the charging LED works correctly and the green stripes and grey band are back, flashing rapidly when powering on. Otherwise no screen function.
She is now trying to find a new phone, but definitely NOT a Samsung. This S7 Edge has already had the screen replaced once, just before the first year warranty ran out, as it did almost the same thing - in March the green striping (plus pink) appeared along one edge and the battery was running out very fast, the phone overheating so much that she found it uncomfortable to hold. We argued with Samsung a lot until they replaced the screen. Something is VERY wrong with this model. She's considering an LG. What a waste of money. One would expect a thousand dollar phone to last longer than this.
I am facing what I think to be the same issue with my son's phone. Green line down right side edge. Screen turns on for a second, then black screen. It's on, but can't do anything. Did you find a fix for this?
No. Today I gave up and took my wife's S7 Edge to the authorized repair centre. They say they'll run a diagnostic for $25, and if the screen needs to be replaced it will cost $385. Brilliant. If this thing gets fixed I will be running custom ROMs on the phone, probably an RR, as it seems Samsung's OTA updates kill phones.
Turned in out the authorized repair centre for our region, Acura in Surrey, BC, went ahead with the screen replacement without our authorization. I specifically said in a note given to them at the time that they were to ask first. But they didn't bother. My wife decided she liked the phone enough to pay over $400 to get it back. It's been working for a few weeks now. Hope it stays working. At this point I have a strong feeling that the S7 Edge was a poorly made device, at least some batches. The reports of these screen failures are just too common.
Check if your screen still alive or maybe connected correctly, here is a way to do it:
1- plug it in your computer then start smart switch
2- dail *#7353#
3- you can now test any thing in your phone
4- search for the TSP
5- try now to touch your device screen
If it display in the computer that mean the touch is working but the screen is not
If the toch is not working you have to check the cables if its connected correctly inside your phone
But if you have warranty don't waste your time and let them fix it, and don't forget to backup your files
