HTC desire 820 quick charge 2.0 support - Desire 820 General

So I bought a Qualcomm certified quick charger 2.0 today and I noticed it didn't really make any difference
So can anybody tell me whether it is supported ? If yes then how can I enable it ,if no then is there any kernel or ROM to enable it
Thank you

HTC Butterfly 2
HTC Desire Eye
HTC One (M8)
HTC One (M9)
Only these HTC devices have quickcharge 2.0 support by default.
So no, our device doesnt.

It's no true. On Qualcomm website it stands that quick charge is supported in Snapdragon 615 which is in Desire 820.

You know guys... When I charge with 2A charger I fell that my phone charge faster
Sent from my HTC Desire 820 using XDA Free mobile app

Quick charge is kernel related.
We have to wait for mm, than someone can build a custom kernel with Quick Charge, 2tap to wake etc.

okay so i tried charging my phone (desire 820 ) with the quick charger and it charged way faster than the stock charger ,but it was not as fast as my s5
after 30 mins desire 820 charged around 12% with stock charger but with quick charger it charged around 25-28% but s5 charged around 42-45%.

Which HTC Desire 820 you have? Version S have MediaTek chipset. All other versions have Snapdragon.

Proving Quick charge 2.0

I have seen many people talk about:Does Sony z3+ Dual support QC2.0?
Sony official responded that z3+ Dual doesn't support it.I was disappointed to heard this ,and i didn't believe it.So I use some useful chargers to test.
This is the result: (I'm sorry:crying:...because I don't know how to show pictures in here, So I only can upload attachments )
From the first picture(2.jpg) we can see the output is 8.95V 0.77A .(This charger is from Samsung S6 HK which indicated is 9V 1.67A 12W)
The second picture(4.jpg) we can see the output is 4.99V 1.03A.(This charger is from ipad which indicated is 5.1V 2.1A)
The third picture(1.jpg)we can see the output is 5.38V 1.43A.(This one is from Samsung Note3 orginal charger which show 5.3V 2A)
The last one(3.jpg)we can see that output is 8.94V 0.74A.(This is from Samsung S6 or Note4) I test it twice.
From up we can found z3+ Dual can support QC2.0,but electric current is smaller than standard. Maybe it is Sony official core limit it. Of course the current is changing by the rest of the battery. From 0-100% the current will decrease gradually. When the battery is near to 99%,it may be 0.1A or less.
In fact ,I use Aukey charger(output:5V/2A 9V/2A 12V/1.5A)to charge my phone. Usually it takes same time(2.2 hours) as using original charger.
Snapdragon 810 SoC absolutely has this feature. So i think it's easy to think that z3+ dual also support QC2.0.
Why the official tell us it doesn't support? I Think the Dual card version of the effect is not as good as a single card version of the good. In order to avoid trouble, they say directly that the dual card version is not supported.
By the way,a lot of people who use Samsung S6 tell me that QC2.0 has damaged their phone.I'm amazed but i don't have S6,so I can not prove it.
Thanks.Oh,there is a good news that this phone can root in 2 or 3 days. The Great Spirit are trying to crack it.
That is extremely disappointing. I chatted and I called yesterday and was told other wise. I spoke with the people on the phone which is listed in the attachment and they where not able to give me information since they are a USA based team. i called the International/worldwide? Sony support Team. And they confirmed that the dual sim z3+ and single sim does have QC2.0 out of the box.
Pretty crappy move by Sony lying to their customers like that.
I bought the dual sim version and It does not work out of the box, i though that they meant the phone just had the feature out of the box and that I had to purchase a certified qc2 adapter but I guess i was just being lied to. I will be returning the dual sim version and be getting the single version. Unless someone else has confirmed that they tried it with a certified qc2 adapter and are not getting the expected results?
Has anyone confirmed that QC2.0 work with the single sim version E6553 ?
Thank for you tests OP
Pulling 9v means it is QC compatible.
No it's not, I bought a qc adapter to test it out too and I get a full charge with the same amount of time as the stock adapter. A bit quicker but not even close to the advertisee speeds that are shown in the YouTube videos with the single sim version or other phones

I have said that the current is small,so whether you use which, the time it spends is close.

Im sorry i don't have single version. But I think a single card version of the fast charge as a selling point should be true.
I went to the qualcomm website and found out the platinum qc2.0 adapter I bought from best buy is not even certified by qualcomm. I placed an order for the aukey qc2.0, amazon.com/dp/B00QEX83LA/ref=cm_sw_r_udp_awd_n0rRvb36Y0Z9P which is certified.
I'll try it out with my dual z3+, and update u guys. I should be getting it this evening.
I already placed an order for the single sim version of the z3+, and will be returning my dual sim regardless. I know some people still have doubts so I'll post some results when I get the single sim too.

Got the single sim and it charged from 0-100 in 1hr 40minutes with the Aukey QC2.0
The dual version charged from 0-100 in about 2hrs 30 minutes, same charger.
They are both brand new phones, I don't know if the charge times will change as the batteries get accustomed to the charge speed/input or age but those are the results now.
I will get an actual timer and sync it up to get a more accurate reading in the future, as of now it looks like the single sim does charge faster than the dual sim.
If u get different results, post them so we can compare.

My single sim e6553 quick charges just fine with the moto turbo charger, but I'm thinking it might get throttled as at 102 degrees F it's charging at 1070mah

May I ask, what app that is? And is the amperage just a guess (like most other tools) or some sensor data?

I thought Quick Charge is only quick from 0-85% (like for electric cars). >85% you're on slow mode.

you can also search for 'battery monitor widget' from 3c, that is more accurate, and the refresh rate can be set to 5 seconds.
I tried Aukey QC2.0 charger on my E6533 as well, not becoming faster, same or less than other 5V2.1A charger.
Seems Sony released a QC2.0 charger too, UCH-10, does anybody tested that with E6533?

I can do that with an Apple iPad charger and my Z3+ Single SIM in the same time. Either we both hadn't used QC2.0 or we did. I get my Aukey PA-T1 next Tuesday, then I'll test with that one.

Original charger specs

So i was using my original charger but i ended with damaging it
So I'm using my old device charger (universal 1.5A) and the original one was 1A
So is it safe to use this charger?
And one question, do this device support fast charge 2.0? I checked Qualcomm website and I found that msm8228 and msm8226 support fast charge

i would recommend that you get one that matches the original specs as soon as possible. that can't be good for you battery. no fast charge without custom kernel.

Thanks sir
@Zola III sent me the charger specs i bought it, and i checked @Renix63's kernel and he wrote Fast Charge: enabled

No fast charge ?

Disappointed that the xperia z5 charger only has an output of 1500mA. I've read on forums where some xperia z5 owners were given the 1800mA (I think) out of the box. My previous Samsung Galaxy S4 had an output of 2100mA so I'm wondering if I used that charger can the xperia z5 take advantage of the extra mA?
Nope I had to use another charger to get the fast charge up and running
Still with any fast charger i get 1600ma to the z5, while my s5 juiced 1800ma
How are you testing to get these figures?

Ampere from play store.
I use that also I think to make a claim like that you need to take all scenario like the phone will drop rate the more it's charged. Mine currently says 1560mah but max is 1610mah that's starting at 77% it would slow down again at 80% I also think that software tests will never be 100% accurate just like all these software benchmark tests that are available.
I think what I'm trying to say without offending anyone is the stock sony charger would be able to achieve 1800ma
Also things to take into consideration is things like if the phone is on and what apps are also using battery

I'm just reading from what my charger is telling me. Output @ 1500mA on Sony and 2000mA on a Samsung

Can you tell me what the specified output is on your charger? Mine has 1500mA so I doubt you can pull 1800 if it's not designed to do it. My question is that can the Z5 take advantage of a 2000mA charger from Samsung or any other manufacturer.
Ah I apologise I don't actually have a new charger only an older charger I'll have a look at the rating later. It would however accept the Samsung charger I'll have a dig around for the ratings in the data sheets

Yes u can use 2A chargers wont hurt your phone or battery.
Try it and make comparison how long it takes to fully charge ur phone.

I'm going to use my old samsung galaxy s4 charger in that case. I have no idea why Sony is supplying a mediocre 1.5A charger. Even the 1.8A is still too slow for the current size of batteries in smartphones
I didn't even get a charger with mine as O2 are too cheap to provide one.
I'm using Samsung S6 fast charger and LG G4 normal charger.
Fast charging works very well.
I actually use a Blackberry 2.0 Amp charger, and it definitely charges all my phones (Z5,Z3,Z1) faster than the stock Sony charger. My Sony charger says 1.5 Amp and it's ok, just not as quick.
The Blackberry charger has the added advantage of having a nice long lead, as opposed to the short lead which Sony provides. It is a dedicated charger only though, so you can't use it for file transfers.
Its kind of weird that other users are reaching 2.0A of juice from their chargers, while some are not.
Unfortunately for me, QC does not work. I recently bought a Tronsmart TS-QC1W usb wall charger. it is Qualcomm QC 2.0 certified, and it did not make any difference because the Max Ampere I was only getting is 1540 amp. I also happen to have a power watt meter where I can measure the watts this charger is pulling in from the wall, and it is just getting ~8 watts (meaning 5V x 1.5A = ~8 watts). I only thing I like and is useful with my tronsmart is, I love the long thick usb cable that came with it.
Just incase a dev or anyone is working or curious in this issue, I am using:
Sony Xperia Z5 dual (E6683)
firmware 32.0.A.6.66 (stock, havent updated to the most recent)
Sony UCH20 stock charger
Tronsmart TS-QC1W Qualcomm QC 2.0 certified
Charging Time from 0%-100% = 2rs 15mins
next thing I would try and do is, update my firmware, and hoping that would enable QC for my Z5. Or if that fails, I hope Sony is currently aware of this and that its upcoming marshmallow update will enable QC 2.0.
(BTW, I can confirm that ALL Z5 Premium can reach and pass 2 AMP of juice from a fast charger. I dont have any data from Z5 compact though).

The Z3 Compact series has gone through these same discoveries. Sony (for some reason) doesn't FULLY support QC 2.0 charging speeds. You'll only see about 1.5 amps when charging with the phone on, and maybe a bump to 1.8 when the phone is powered off (not just screen off). Because of this, 2 amp tablet chargers are effectively just as capable as the expensive quick chargers.
To all of you who are using charger other than stock for some extra amps are ruining the battery ? life of your device.

Because phone can't draw more current than set by manufacturer, doesn't matter whatever the charger you use. But using a higher rating charger can cause more heating, which actually degrade the battery life as it accelerate the reaction inside the battery because of rise in temperature.

There is still no proof that it will cause heating and degrade the battery life though. The phone will only ask for so much draw that it can handle from the charger I'm all good for people correcting something however you need to provide proper proof to show it is a fact

It is well known and has been proven many times that the faster you charge a battery the hotter it gets and less charge cycles it lasts.
Sometimes it might be necessary to do a quick charge, but i don't think it is a good idea to QC your batteries every day.

M9+ and quick chargers?

The last time someone asked about QC 2.0 and M9+ it was months ago and people were waiting that HTC enable the pump thingy from mediatek via FW updates to enjoy fast charging, so now several months later Quick chargers are still not making any differences with the M9+ charging time?
BTW how many minutes it takes to recharge from 20% to 100% an M9+?
Is the Supreme Camera edition any different?
The M9+ does not support QC 2.0 as it does not have a Qualcomm CPU. It has a Mediatek CPU.

Quick charger 3.0

Hello,
Anyone know if Redmi 4 Pro have quick charge? I buy a quick charger 3.0
Thanks
My moms Redmi 4 Prime does benefit from using a quickcharger compared to the one in the box. Don't know if it is full QC 2.0 (because that's the most the SD625 supports) speed though. It's btw one from the brand Blitzwolf that she has, so officially licensed by Qualcomm.
I dont know abt QC2.0 but w/ std 2.0A charger mine can charge 15-95% in 2hrs. I don't recommend QC because they heat up yr batteries, heat is no 1 enemy of any battery.
