I wrote to HTC to ask how they measured their "up to 490 hours on Standby" and "up to 380 mins talk time" referred to in their HD2 website specification especially as people like myself were experiencing the battery going flat in <24 hours with almost zero usage of the phone.
Here's their official reply.

The specifications that you have referenced are laboratory test conditions, and are not indicative of real-world performance, nor do they take into account the considerable drain incurred by the myriad services and programs that run as a matter of course on Windows Mobile 6.5, as well as any other background applications that may be running, which may not be readily apparent. Please be advised that these laboratory test figures are in line with EU regulations concerning the testing of mobile device batteries, and the real-world battery time that you have quoted of 20-24 hours is well within what we would expect of this device. So in simple terms, we mislead you in our advertising and you'll be lucky to get the battery to last 24 hours. We can't fix it so buy a bigger battery!
What's the point in publishing performance data that has no relationship to "real-world" conditions. Most customers won't be using the phone in a laboratory.
Perhaps we should start a new campaign to get HTC to be more honest about "real-world" expectations.

Because as they said that measurement procedure is a standard that everybody follows, so it would be stupid to do it differently, why "not lie" when everybody does so (and they actually probably wouldn't be allowed to do it differently).

What can i say........except that HTC should look in to the real world more often!
I use many phones, from htc, and from other company , my last two nokia phones was "business versions" with "everlasting" battery - first e65 least 40h , second - better version - only 22h ( e66) - it's normal - in this world
If HTC say it's a standard EU process, then perhaps we should campaign to get the EU standard changed as the current published figures give no indication of the phones real performance.
Don't get me wrong, I love the phone but I've never seen one like this go flat in such a short time when on standby.

I think we need a bit of a reality check here. I'm not especially inclined to defend HTC but they have a point about the stuff that may be running on the phone. Anyone who has tried some new toys must have encountered one that sucks the life out of the battery for no obvious reason - scale that down and extrapolate across a raft of apps that most of us here will have on our phones and you will get a host of variations in terms of battery life...which is exactly what we do get.
Secondly, as kilrah said, that's the way battery life is measured. Instead of whining about it we should treat it as a relative indicator against other phones because that's about all it is good for. I suspect most say 'up to...' in small letters in front of their stand by and talk times anyway.
If I were to buy a car because the specs say that it does 40 miles to the gallon I'd be a mug to expect it to do that when I'm thrashing down the motorway towing a trailer with the windows and sun roof open. But I might well buy it in preference to a car that claims 30 mpg because in the long run it will probably cost me less in running costs.
You pays your money and you takes your choice...I don't personally see any significant misrepresentation in this, but there may be a little end user misunderstanding?

No surprise here. I observed the same discrepancy on all my phones till now - Motorola, Nokia, Samsung, Siemens, Ericsson, Sony Ericsson, HTC.
Actually I use my phone a lot and I'm more than happy with its performance so far - huge and bright screen, powerful CPU... What are your expectations? 48 hours? A week?
If you think, this is something impressive, go and buy yourself a new monitor and then just measure the advertised contrast ratio - 10000:1 ? Seriously? In fact it is only 700:1. Nothing more to say.

Exact. And especially on smartphones it's absolutely impossible for the manufacturer or a standards organisation to imagine how you will use your device.
If they can quote anything, it's stock configuration, open the box, put sim card in, press power on, enter your pin, put phone in standby, leave it there, note how long it lasts. That's all.
Knowing that you can do so many things on it, install so many programs that can do what they want to the phone, and that depending on usage the battery life can vary anywhere between 2 hours and 4 days it's totally impossible, by whatever means, to quote something realistic.
When you buy a WM device (or any other Lith-Ion device for that matter) you should know what to expect with regards to battery life, it's not rocket science.
Lithium-Ion batteries are poor, until battery technology is improved it's what we should have come to expect.
That's a bit simplistic, knowing that firstly there's nothing better yet, and secondly the good old phones we had that were lasting a whole week were also using the same batteries or even worse NiMH ones.
It's a combination of a lot of things.

I turned htc sense off on my phone and now the battery lasts 2-2.5 days with what i would deem reasonable use ie using the internet checking emails texting and 4 or 5 calls a day , if i turn sense back on the battery life drops to about 15 hours so i can live without sense !!! Im far more concerned about the speaker problems and pink photos than the battery )

I assume you are replying to me?
After having 4 HTC devices, I didn't expect anything more from the HD2 than I got from the Wizard or my Kaiser or my Diamond, if anything it was obviously going to be poorer due to the huge screen, hardware and all the software I knew I would be using.
I think your best chance of getting their claimed hours would be by:
1. Completely charging the battery;
2. Use a bare-bone ROM with absolutely nothing installed
3. Switching off all radio signals.. (that is, put the phone in flight mode so that the phone is not transmitting like wireless, bluetooth or anything else at all...)
4. leaving the phone on standby with the screen off.
Of course, noone uses their phone like that, but HTC have used the term "up to" to protect themselves...
HTC would be stupid to change the way they rate their times since every other company is using the same method. I doubt anyone would want to buy a phone that says "Standby Up to 24hours" when every other phone has "Standby Up to 500hours" At best, the rated hours could be used as a comparison/indicator against other phones.
I'm celebrating two weeks into life with my HD2, and after suffering water damage with my HD which had no effect except to bring battery life down to 8 hours a day, I'm really pleased with my 24-28 hours of battery life.
On days I'm using it a lot, I expect 15 hours. However the other day I barely touched the phone (no calls, no music, no random turning on the screen) and I was on 65% after 24 hours, which I felt was good.
I agree with the OP, their quotes are a joke, but I don't look at specs, I look at reviewers to tell me "I expect a day's life from this phone" etc. when I choose a phone. With a screen this size I don't expect miracles, but again, it does feel like a blatant lie when they suggest the phone can sit for weeks without dying, and i give manufacturers (including HTC) no credit for being economical with the truth to their customers.
My SEX1 used to last a few hours more, having a smaller screen, larger battery, and less than half the processor. They specced same timings, as I said I got a few hours more. I doubt Iphone or any other manufacturer, will spec their device like, Standby time 24hrs, talk time 4 hrs. Who would buy such a device?
Anyway I didn't expect it to last any longer. Good thing is I'm in front of my pc for long hours, no harm in letting the phone plugged in.
Isn't draining the Li-Ion actually shortens the battery life?

That's the real world scenario....

Auto forced shutdown is at 3.6V, which has a lot of margin not to cause damage.

Sensible solution: if you want battery life of more than 1-2 days, do not get a smartphone, especially not one that has the fastest processor on the market and a 4.3" screen. And read reviews that will tell you "you'll get 1-2 days" and "it lasts just a bit more than an iphone". I.e. Educate yourself.

Sensible solution: Realise you have a large piece of GLASS in front of you, and take care of it as such. Don't drop it, don't sit on it,...
We know how the HD2 behaves. If you read a couple of reviews, you know too. If you now buy it and still complain, there's not much we, or HTC, can do for you.
So I've had the Incredible since launch day and must say that I'm very pleased with it. The first day I had a couple of random reboots and on day two my phone was awake 100% of the time. I did a battery pull and haven't had any issues since. The following is long so I've sectioned it off. Read what you want and leave the rest for others to read. I'm sure some of you have had different experiences, but this is mine and these are my opinions.
Battery Discussion
Others have complained that the battery is less than stellar (at least in the forums I've read). I always try to hold off judgment early on for two reasons: 1. It's a new toy and I'm prone to using the crap out of it & 2. I think battery calibration time is needed for the phone. This isn't for the battery but time for the phone to calibrate with how the battery discharges. I used the stock 1300mAh battery for the first week and started using a Seidio 1750 on Saturday.
I know this is a hot debate, and I even started to doubt my purchase after placing the order. I read reports and claims that Seidio battery's are only good for 84% of their claimed capacities and such. When the battery arrived on Friday (the 1750mAh btw), I waited till the end of the night before installing it. I powered down the phone, inserted the battery, and left it to charge while turned off. The following day I had extremely heavy use. GPS ran for 1 1/2 hours (display on), Slacker Radio for 45 minutes, lots of web browsing, and sitting in a theater with poor signal (it was hunting for 90 minutes). At the end of day one I had around 5 hours of awake time and 12 hours of uptime before it started running low. Sunday the phone saw moderate use through most of the day. I wanted to drain the battery before bed so I turned on all my radios, jacked up the brightness, and played videos for about 90-120 minutes before it shutdown for the evening. Monday I had similar results to Sunday, I was getting about 6 hours of awake time with 14+ hours of uptime. Actually on Monday I didn't even wear the phone down to the point of shutting down. I only got it to 10% or so, not sure on the awake (over 5 for sure) time but my uptime was 15 1/2 hours.
I did notice something funny this morning. I forgot to charge my phone while off last night and woke up to a fully charged unit (according to the green indicator). I unplugged the phone and checked the HTC battery widget, 93%!?!?! This was after 7 hours of charging. I turned the phone off and let it charge to green while powered off. This confirms what I've heard others say, that the phone is not fully charging the battery and falls short about the last 10% or so.
Screen Protector
I ordered Phantom Skinz matte protector Friday from Amazon for $18. This is my first dealing with Phantom Skinz and my order came in yesterday. I actually got 2 x matte finish and 2x regular protectors. I tried the matte out and hated it, so on came the normal and it's nice. I have used Zagg's Invisible Shield(on an iPhone) and I couldn't believe the difference. Application was the easiest I've ever experienced and I'm very happy with it. As time goes on I'll get a better feel for it, but the initial impression is good.
Case
I've been using the Silicone Gel Verizon case and like it for a temporary cover until something better comes out. As others have reported Otter Box just put in a product suggestion for me and I don't see anything on Case-Mate's webiste I'm sure the demand will bring about a product soon, just email and let them know there's a demand.
Compared to other Android devices I've used...
It's awesome and feels like the Android phone I've been waiting for. I've tried the Sprint Hero, Motorola Droid, and Verizon Eris. While they were all good they just fell short in areas that seem to bother me. The Incredible has a fitting name in my book and the camera is leaps and bounds better than what I expected.
Compared to my iPhone/iPad experience
I'll say this, Android is a better fit for me on the phone platform. I left the iPhone for my Eris which has recently been sold to fund my Incredible. I got an iPad shortly after launch, but after getting the Incredible I find that it only serves as an e-reader for me.
That's quite the remarkable story you've got there. Not enough to be incredible P), but remarkable nonetheless.
Also, why did you hate the matte finish so much? Does it interfere with the performance of the touch screen?

LOL, thanks for the comments. I didn't like the matte screen because it really blurred the screen a ton. Touchscreen responsiveness was still great, but it killed the clarity of the screen.
Tilt2 to Droid Incredible
I came from the Tilt2 on AT&T and I LOVE this phone and almost everything about it. What I am not exactly pleased with Verizon's CDMA.
I dislike how I have to disable "Always Connected Data" to get decent battery life. On my Tilt2, I could stay on MSN messenger 24/7 with very little impact on my battery. With that option off my battery life is much better, but Meebo also shows me offline a lot on MSN.
Also those AT&T commercials about the "No data+voice" is ringing true. Already there has been 4 instances in a 4 day period where that has caused me a problem. I guess it was something I took for granted on AT&T.
I guess I am stuck here for 2 years, because I just can't go back to AT&T and their lack of decent phones. They must have some sort of agreement with Apple to limit what phones they offer in order to maintain their exclusivity. I was hoping to get a decent Android or Windows Phone 7 on AT&T but I doubt that will ever happen.
I came from xv6800 on Verizon. So far I'm impressed. I love the speed of the phone. Internet is super quick and very fluid. Not to mention it also does flash lite which is a definite plus. The only issue I have is probably the battery. It could be better, but it's not horrible.

Really? you have to turn off "Always Connected Data"? I keep mine on all the time. I also keep GPS on and I get a full day's worth. Granted, I don't have msn or any chat client on all the time.
Hey At&t is suppose to get the galaxy s. That phone looks like a beast. I have no idea when that's coming out though.
Past Windows Mobile user
Well let me start by saying that this is my first Android phone. I am a long time user of Windows CE PocketPC Mobile. (Hmm, I guess this implementation of BB doesn't have strikethrough enabled, but you get the point.)
An iPaq lured me away from Palm; the Samsung i-760 convinced me to switch from a PPC and mobile phone, to an all-in one device; and now the Incredible has gotten me to switch platforms.
I had seriously considered jumping carriers for the iPhone, but alas, where I live AT&T doesn't have a great signal, and those few that do have them, are waiting until their contract ends to jump to Sprint or Verizon.
I wasn't the one who "discovered" the Incredible though - I was happy with my Imagio (thanks to Energy ROM, found here) and had just switched from the TouchPro. My wife was up for a new phone, and got the Incredible, which I then had to set up for her! After four hours (no, it doesn't take that long to set up, I just played around with it for that long!) I was hooked. I went back the next day, and they still had one in stock. I switched and haven't looked back.
I haven't found any reason to mod the rom (or I guess it's rooting on Android), and the sheer speed is awesome. I felt like a traitor to Windows Mobile (hey it was a long term relationship remember), but that only lasted about two days.
I miss hand-writing recognition for SMS and data-entry, but other than that, this is a device that you will love. Spend a few minutes with it, try it out if you can get your hands on it. You will never look back.
I have had every GSM android phone Available in the USA, as well as the Rogers Magic from Canada & European HTC Hero.
HTC has been Extremely amazing with their products and if any issues, they were very helpful.
Ive Read more bad things about Samsung products than good such as electronics dying a few months of being purchased brand new and their support being the worst.... I am a little shaky to buy the phone due to people commenting feeling like straight up plastic. and also because i would be pretty pissed for it to die just a couple weeks, or months from purchase date.

The various radios and their ability to hold a strong signal when touched by your hand is definitely a concern. Indoors, 3G reception with this device is extremely unreliable. I fluctuate from having full signal strength (not just going off of 'bars'), to EDGE, to dropped calls. I've had calls go straight to voicemail, while the phone is sitting on a desk, where other phones did not have this issue.
Outside, depending on how 'obstructed' I am, it's a bit difficult to drop. But if I walk between two houses, 3G signal is screwed. Blame it on the frequency of T-Mo's network, I guess; but I have used 3G phones on the network which have never suffered from these problems. A co-worker of mine uses a cheapo 'MyTouch 3G', which outperforms my $500 phone in terms of 3G strength and GPS-locking. Really sad.
The screen is incredible. The best in the industry, if you ask me. The pixel density isn't as crazy as the iPhone 4's, but the colors are unmatched. Watching videos on this screen is like sitting in front of a tiny Plasma TV. Speaker quality is actually quite decent, to boot. Sounds about as good as the speakers on a MacBook Pro.
The build quality is solid, for what it is. That said, it still feels like a toy, and is probably built from cheap plastic to keep the costs down (the screen probably costs a fortune). I would've preferred a heavier, metal-body phone.
The buttons, unfortunately, feel very cheap. My biggest concern is that the power button might fail some day. The headphone jack is cheap. In fact, my first headphone jack was non-functional, and would constantly short out.
Despite all of those hiccups, I still really like the device.
Samsung's support is not the greatest, which is why I worry in the first place. In 2003, I bought one of the last CRT HDTVs. It was an issue of 'spend $1k for CRT or spend $3k+ for LCD'. I was broke, and in school, so I went with the CRT. After a year of mild usage, the board inside of the TV died, and I could only view snow-laden black and white images. The TV was covered by the extended warranty I bought through the store. A year later, on the dot, it died again. And the next year, again. Eventually, I grew tired of spending money on warranties, and let it lapse. Sure enough, the TV died again. From that point on, I was skeptical of Samsung's QA. They wanted to charge me the cost of the TV to repair it. Needless to say, the set was junked, and I wasn't happy.
I still don't like their build-quality. I think Samsung cheaps out, even on their larger sets. Everything is thin, glossy plastic. But one thing is for certain: Samsung knows how to build a panel -- the best panels in the industry, if you ask me.
That's all I really have to say about them. Hope it helps.

Galaxy s is samsung's flagship product it's being launched globally, I don't think they are in position to let it die as behold. But it's my own opinion though.

I would just like to add my 2 cents as far as battery issues.
1. I use task killer to disable unused apps and free up ram/cache info and save on a little battery power
2. i setup the brightness manually to be low and the phone is still very bright. The phone on average uses 80-90% of its power from this alone so it is VERY important to manage. I used it auto on the first day and the phone lasted me about 12 hours. Once i set it up manually i got about 14-15. For example 8am-11PM. With lots of use. The phone battery seems very realistic to use in a single day..but more than 20 hours i would say you would have to have moderate to low usage..i would say i have high usage..1st day i had it with a full charge
30emails 10with attachments
100+texts
20 app downloads
30 min of web browsing
30 min of phone calls
50% total time using WIFI
40% with 3g
the rest just browsing on the phone setting up emails and such

Update: 07/21/10
Today is the second day i use the phone fully and using it for just about the same amount my battery is only about 47% compared to 30ish% the day before..last night it crapped out at around 1145 with 5% energy..its 8pm now and im at 47%..so far i have charged it fully 3 times..i expect 2-4 more charges and im gonna get a max time of about 15-18 hours of hard use..LOVE THIS PHONE!!
I actually posted this same post in the XL section by mistake, here is where I would get the proper feedback:
After reading all the forums on XDA I decided to go with the Pixel XL. I have been on a
waiting list for 2 weeks now so I am assuming these are backordered big time.
In the same instance I check to see what the wait is for the regular Pixel and it keeps going
down. Today you can order a 128 gb black and get it in 2 weeks, The XL I still cannot even order
it. I am guessing everyone is making the same conclusion that the XL model is the prefered model.
Those of you with the Pixel, what are your thoughts? I am afraid of the battery life of the Pixel vs the XL.
That is my number one concern.

I don't have either phone. I did order the pixel and not the xl version. I ordered it from Google and I'm waiting till November 23 for it to arrive. I think it is doing as well the xl version. I called Verizon and I could get it sooner but the monthly payments on Verizon don't allow though to pay a little more to pay phone off early.
I was worried about the battery life as well. It looks like people are at least getting 4-5 hours of screen on time. That's enough for me. I just want a smaller phone. I've had the 6p and the S7 edge and I prefer a phone the size of the iPhone 7. I just don't want an iPhone.

Well availability doesn't tell us anything at all, it accounts for no variables. As far as preferred model the XL should definitely be it, considering the sizes of the best selling Android phones. The Pixel is rare for being a top-specced one handed device.
Got the pixel. Battery life is 2 days easy. I love it.
Is 4-5 hours of SOT out of the Box enough for you? --> take it!

I've got the phone for a few more days now and I am averaging 5-6 hours SoT. Certainly not as good as my initial post, but still very, very good I would say.
I don't do a lot of crazy stuff on my phone, just a lot of Hangouts, Redditing, some browsing on Chrome, and checking ESPN (+fantasy) for scores. Some music and reading every once in a while. 'OK Google' is always on and I have 2 Google accounts + 1 Exchange account syncing. High accuracy location on.
I have used a lot of Android phones in the past (as recent as 6P) and this is the first time I don't have to tinker with every single setting to get usable battery life. I am very impressed.

I have had a large majority of the main stream Android phones to exist and to this day I have NEVER gotten SOT life like this. I simply do not get how this is possible. Now, with my Pixel I still get a maximum 2 hours of SOT. Do you use your phone non stop all day? I think I get good battery life, my phone will survive 2 days with around 2 hours of SOT - I have just never seen such SOT even when I actually use my phone constantly all day.

I use my phone on the bus, during lunch and casually on the couch when I'm at home. I wouldn't say I am on my phone constantly.
From my experience the biggest battery issue about Android is always idle drain. Doze helps a lot but you really need to get rid of apps that drain unnecessarily, or apps that maintain calls to Google Play service frequently. Social network apps are really bad at this, which is why I make an effort to use their web apps as much as I can.

That's my thing. The only "social media" app I use is Instagram. I try really hard to have good battery life and my phone has really negligible idle drain. I think I just don't actually use it enough to see those SOT numbers.
for an average medium user, i think the phone will give 3-4 hrs SOT over 36 to 40 hours of usage easily.

I'm seeing a minimum of 3 hours SOT over 28-36 hours of mixed use on a regular Pixel (browsing, phone calls, Google Inbox, camera, some Facebook, some texting). I'm usually connected to Wi-Fi and a good 4G signal.
Had the Pixel for a week and even the first 24hrs (with lots of extra playing around + downloading all my apps) saw around 3.5 hours of SOT. This compares favourably with my previous Z5C (smaller, lower resolution, display).

I have the Pixel and I'm overly satisfied with it. Yes, it's pricey, but it's premium. In all honesty, all of these flagships could be cheaper (iPhone, S7, HTC10, etc), so i don't consider the price a negative. I personally love the minimal, straightforward industrial design. People say it looks like an iphone, mostly because that's what they are familiar with, but it just looks like most standard smartphones from the front. Personally, I think it far more reflects the HTC phones of today and before (they've been doing aluminum on the flagships longer than anyone), and is EXTREMELY well built. Regardless of how complex or not you fell the design to be, it's done very well. Otherwise, it's spec-ed as-well-or-better than any other device. Top notch SoC, camera, etc.
Hardware aside, the software is really the strength. I wont go into every nuance, but it just *feels* like a very complete package. Google has been very careful to tie up many of the loose ends that existed on the Nexus phones, and it has a very nice fit and finish to the UI and UX. The camera software is stellar, assistant is nice, the app drawer is much more cleverly handled than before, notifications menu and quick toggles are spot-on and well refined, and Google continues to deliver the ability to customize without burying settings or complexities into the system. my recent (albeit limited) experiences tinkering with iPhones has really left me wanting more from the UI. It used to "just work" but the menus and UI (aside from the main screen) i feel to be dated, overly-layered, and too confusing. App-level permissioning continues to be great....oh, and the camera...man, the camera. yes, a lot of it comes in post-processing the raw file (HDR+, for example), but it's undeniably awesome. I've accidentally taken pictures that turned out better than my most care constructs on past phones. Vlad has some things to say about that here. Anyway, i wont keep rambling, and could answer specific questions if you're interested.
tl;dr - get it. it's awesome, hardware is awesome and executed well, software is top-notch, phone is blazingly fast, i get 5hrs SOT easily in a single day usage (could stretch multiple days and still pull 3-4hrs), and camera is as good/better than anything out there.
disclaimer - i dont game on my phone so can't speak much to that type of performance.

Thank you for the info above, my number one question is how is battery life. As a business person
syncing email/calendars, numerous calls, youtubing, web browsing, and texting. When I unplug at 6 am will I last until 9 pm or will I have to worry, This is my number one question for ALL.

I personally went with the Pixel over the Pixel XL after using the Nexus 6P and OnePlus 3 for the past 12 months. I wanted something with a smaller size for one handed use. So far, I have not been disappointed in the least bit.

I have my own consulting business and use 3 different emails for contact with various clients and 1 personal email address. 2 of these are exchange and 2 are Google accounts. With roughly 20 emails coming in/out per day, 1-2 client calls per day (each one lasting between 30 and 60 minutes), moderate texting and app usage, I've had absolutely no issues with the battery. I usually take about 20 minutes to charge my phone to full as soon as I get into my home office around 7AM each morning. From there it lasts me throughout the day/night with no issues. When I go to plug the phone in each morning it usually has about 25% - 35% battery remaining.
Hi, I'm currently in the market for a phone, and the 8 pro is one of the phones I've narrowed it down to. I've never used OnePlus phones before, but I've heard great things about their software so I've decided to see for myself.
Only issue is, there seems to be a lot of complaints about defective screens on the phones, and I just wanted to know if they're still selling defective units or if the problem is fixed and they're selling normal ones now. I live in India so if anyone could help me out on the situation here that would be great.
Also I'm doubtful about the battery life. I'm a very heavy user so I don't know if the battery can keep up with me for a whole day, as I plan to keep the phone at 120Hz QHD all the time if I do buy it.
Hardware issue that cant be fixed. It existed since OP7T but oneplus doesnt give a f**k. I dont expect them to fix even on the upcoming OP8T series. You gotta live with it.
The Green Tinge exists. Maybe OxygenOS 11 will solve it , but not keeping my hopes up. The issue isn't that widespread though. It shows when brightness is at a particular 20%-25% range and the screen is a dark-grey or similar shade and isn't visible below or above that.
Having said that, the burn-in issue and banding of the status bar area some users were seeing in early units seems to have been resolved. But all in all, it still can't hold a candle to the level of screen optimization Samsung does. My 5 year old Galaxy S6 has much better out of the box calibration and white balance than my current Op8 Pro. It's what it is.
Be careful of responses on threads like this, although I'm sympathetic to end users who've got a dodgy unit, the vast majority of people do not have this issue.
I ordered one device and i have zero issues, no screen problems at all, even before the brightness got lowered, no overheating issues, nothing.
Most people don't, but a thread like this just gives everyone with a problem a platform to voice their opinion and who will all say something negative (which you have to expect), most people who don't have this issue will be less likely to report on this thread so you will end up with an unclear and biased set of responses.
As with any phone, if you get a device and it has an issue, you have two years warranty for a reason, use it.
If you're paying cash then I'd advise to get it from Amazon, they don't argue and will simply swap out the device.
To put this all into perspective, I've had more phones than the vast majority of people who come on xda, usually 1-2 phones per year since the G1 days, I've had issues on 1 device and that was after 4 years and my daughter was using it at the time, that was the HTC hero. I haven't had screen issues since on any phone before or since.
For every person with an issue with their screen or indeed any part of any device; there is a multitude of people who do not.
As for battery life, I get 8-9 hours SOT most days and have achieved 10 hours, it's worth noting that although I keep my phone in good condition, no charging overnight, no ad supported apps or bloat, im not actively trying to achieve high SOT scores, im just using the phone.
Most recently I was testing games on most emulators throughout the day and within 11 hours of charge the screen was on for 9 hours and 9 minutes, there was 10% left, screenshots and app usage in the screen on time section in the real life review section of this forum, this was at pure stock.. 5G off (using 4G and FHD instead of QHD no difference)
I've just flashed xXx No Limits so I am expecting that number to rise.
Bottom line is to find out for yourself though, each of us have different habits and needs, but in regards to screen uniformity it's a roll of the dice, but the odds are definitely in your favour.
