Their devices you got poor performance, so how can expect to get good things on a porting rom?
Actually I have no issue with their hardware at all. mi3 had snapdragon 800 before three years. Tip end spec. Miui software is degrading

I owned redmi note, redmi 1s and redmi 2. Mi3 was best among them. Unfortunately, xiaomi is not doing well on software front. I guess most xiaomi users feel the same way, who have used their devices for two to three years now.

Well its official. Support is now dropped in terms of major ROM updates. We're stuck, official ROM wise, on the current 5.1.
Very very disappointing as I think our devices are perfectly capable of running Marshmallow. Just proves yet again the claim that Apple have better support. I mean the 4s got the latest iOS 9. Anyway…sorry to bring the sad news guys. Cyanogenmod it is then.
Let us know your thoughts.

Already made the switch to cyanogenmod a while back.

Would be nice to get an unlock for the xt1060, but that's probably not happening. Maybe it's time to bug the sunshine guys into looking into it again, I know they managed to get the 2nd gen bootloaders unlocked. Kind of our last hope.

We can already be happy to have received the 5.1 !!!!! (and perhaps an update for the latest major security breaches !! I think we're many people that are very disappointed by Motorola)
Well its now a 2 year old device, does it sucks ? Yes, of course
But considering the Nexus 4 had problems updating to L and its not on the roadmap for M (same exact situation for X2013), maybe theres something with the Snapdragob S4 Pro ?

Nothing wrong with the Snapdragon S4 pro. the nexus 7 2013 has it and it's getting the upgrade.
The biggest disappointment for me in not getting an M update is there will be no official fix for the Cell Standby battery drain.
I've since reverted (I hesitate to say downgraded) to 4.4.4. Sure, I'm missing the stage fright fix, but at least my battery isn't dead by 5pm. I guess I could consider a dead battery the ultimate stage fright fix.

I was hoping for Moto to address the myriad issues in the 5.1 OTA, but that seems rather unlikely at this point. As much as I want to stick with the stock ROM, there are too many annoying problems. I think I have to make the switch to CM in order to have a stable, relatively bug-free experience once again.

I LOL'd at this, almost literally. If you think any source built ROM (CM, AOSP or otherwise) is going to be bug free, you're lying to yourself. The only place that is anywhere close to possible is with Nexus devices.

I realize how it sounds, but that's truly how bad the 5.1 OTA has been for me. YouTube randomly pauses videos while audio continues to work, requiring a reboot. Random loud crackling/distortion through the speaker, requiring a reboot. Overall increased battery drain compared to 4.4.4, with random periods of even faster drain, requiring a reboot. Broken calendar sync.
Been playing with CM12.1 all day, and although I'll deeply miss the stock Moto features, performance has been great with none of the aforementioned bugs. It simply works as it should. If by some miracle Moto were to release a 5.1.1 update without annoying issues, I'd switch back in a heatbeat as I prefer the stock experience.
I would be happy if we just got a fix for youtube. It's broken now on my locked down ATT xt1058 and seems to be for many others as well.
We're on 2013, but many of the 2014 Moto X models aren't getting it either http://www.androidcentral.com/delays-and-abandonment-now-dominate-motorolas-comeback-tale
Which is abysmal. I can't imagine getting another Moto after this. Moving over to Nexus for my next phone. I'm generally happy running 4.4, especially seeing the issues some of you are having with OTA 5.1. I like this phone. I bought this phone because it was made by Google, but I don't think the Lenovo sale has been good news for Motorola.

This is not a logical response on my part, but now that I know my Moto X 1st Gen won't be getting any more official upgrades, I suddenly feel much freer to play around with it, install custom ROMs, etc. I did this all the time with my previous phone (HTC Sensation), but I've stuck with stock on my Moto X, mainly because it has met my needs pretty well (apart from battery life). But now I'm free to play! In fact, CM12.1 went on my phone just this morning. Nice!
Oh boo hoo.
How did you do that? Any directions to an article?

Ahah, on Sprint XT 1056 latest firmware was 4.4.4, but I can install or flash 5.1 from 1053, and its fine. For me M isn't a big deal or step after Lollipop, how it was from KitKat. So, no hurry even for CM... 13(?)

Here's a link to the thread.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-x/moto-x-qa/guide-faq-how-to-downgrade-5-1-to-4-4-4-t3182118
It's intended for the XT1052, but the steps worked on my XT1053 as well (though someone else confirmed it before I tried). You'll need an unlocked bootloader and the factory images for your model.

For clarification: are you using your Sprint 1056 on the Sprint network after flashing 5.1 from the 1053?
Is oneplus gonna release the source for the finger print scanner? Is that why that development is lacking for this phone? I'm really regretting my purchase. Kinda let down.. I'm late to the game but was just reading that some devs sold their devices! Uugh. Anyone interested in a new OPT?
post deleted
Oneplus will not release its Lollipop fingerprint scanner code. Instead Carl said they will switch to standard Google Fingerprint API on Marshmallow.
What is the point of this thread imho oneplus said they will use a standard API for the fingerprint sensor.
I think we just have to wait.
The oneplus 2 is a well build phone and oos is not the best os i agree but hey just buy a Samsung with touchwizz?

He is a well known kernel developer here in OPT and he developed his reputation over the development and support of over 5 devices.
Not sure what to expect but it sorta give us hope that maybe stock oxygen kernel in marshmallow and forward would be baked better

Just wondering how interested people are in getting a CM12 based MIUI rom for our X Play. I'm not saying I would be doing it as I don't have the skill however I think it would be amazing to have. Add to the variety we already have.
I would have bought a Redmi but it doesn't support LTE on O2 UK

+1 MIUI
Nah, I'd love to have MIUI on the MXP too, but I don't think someone wants to spend the time and energy building it. It might happen in the future, but I doubt it'll be before we have official support for CM (which might never happen)
I just dont like MIUI. I feel like its animations and skin dont go along with Material Design. Coming from Redmi Note 2
I dont think so.
hi
see below link one plus has discountinued the X
sad news we are dead end of the road for US :crying::crying::crying:
link : http://www.fonearena.com/blog/18830...now-focus-on-true-flagship-line-only-ceo.html
We'll still get N and I may end up picking up a Nexus down the road anyway. End of the road for OnePlus but most definitely not for us
I'm getting another year out of this at least
Great phone though. I have a few tricks up my sleeve still
That means NO Android M OxygenOS 3.0
So that also means OPX get no Android M OxygenOS 3.0 ? OnePlus One allready got Marshmellow for testers sound Kind of UNFAIR.
Anyway Installed Resurrection Remix 5.7.0 Android 6.0.1
If this Happends that 5.1.1 is the Last Update Unfair Support for the Onyx.
Thanks #OnePlus
No..

No... They are going to provide support for at-least two year after product launch ...so will be getting MM for sure (don't know when ) and may be "N"...for Oxygen OS
Hopefully :/ , i can't wait for OxygenOS i think we will get Android N soon and when not Official by OP than by CyanogenMod 14 or AOSP based Roms
it just means there will be no Oneplus X2. that is all. it does not affect oneplus X in anyway.
I wonder if the opened kernel sources would give a boost to oneplus X custom ROM development as well?
It means no mid spec device in the same form factor. It doesn't mean there'll be no high spec device in the same form factor.
However, having used a OnePlus One for a few days, and having had the OnePlus X for about a week now, I'll be in absolutely no rush to buy another one of their devices. There are far better Chinese options these days.

I'm on official pie, and haven't faced any bugs besides a bit of battery drain and and little animation glitches. Everything is all Gucci.
I will go abroad on holidays and considering that I have an EFS backup so I can downgrade without any problem, I think that i'll go back to Oreo.
I need that battery lasts longer and a good signal reception that now is very bad (other than the LTE issue that I solved my self)
Every time I do the same mistake, accepting the update immediately without waiting for others users feedback, and this time Xiaomi did a disaster.
However I think that Pie will be last major release for Mi A1, they learned that more recent is the Android version and more difficult is to make it supporting older platforms, and SD625 is actually an old platform.
So yes, the update was luckily pulled down but the disaster is done. I hope they will found a fix for everything they messed up.

It surely is.
Android One is supposed to get two years of support, and Mi A1 was released in spring 2017, so...
625 is not the problem, also MI A2 Lite is on the same SoC but it will receive Android Q for sure.
