If I sign up for this and take the OTA does it wipe my TWRP? Will all my data be gone? I'd have to unlock, root, and TWRP over again if I go back?

This has almost definitely already been asked in one of the Android N discussions in the general section, have a search there.

It won't install if you have TWRP or root. You need to be on full stock firmware (MHC19I). Unlocking the bootloader is a one time process.
You can install N Preview by flashing the system image. If you need a tutorial: http://www.droidorigin.com/install-android-n-developer-preview/
And yea, please search before posting, in the future. It's a good practise to carry out.

So, I got the OTA notification, and before I do something stupid, I have a few stupid questions I'm on stock 4.3, rooted, unlocked bootloader, custom recovery, xposed framework and franco kernel. I read in other people's threads that in order to not brick, I should go back to stock kernel, stock recovery and I'll lose root and unlocked bootloader, correct? If so, is wug's kit still usable on 4.4 to get root/unlock back? And regarding xposed, anything I should do about that, like go to stock framework lol or the framework doesn't affect the update? Sorry for all the questions, but I don't want to risk a brick, and THEN ask many questions Thank you very much!
First of all this won't brick your phone. You have a few options:
1-download the ota zip, go into recovery, do a full wipe and flash the ota zip. (This is the quickest and easiest method. After doing this you will still have your custom recovery, and the contents of your internal storage will be untouched.)
2-Flash the factory images. (Your phone gets completely wiped, including your custom recovery.)

Just go into Wugs and flash the latest firmware directly, you won't have to change anything else.

Alright, thanks! according to method 1, will I lose root? If so, is it as easy as flashing supersu again, or do I have anything else to do? Thanks again!

Yes, root will be lost. But to get it back just download the latest supersu and simply flash it via recovery. Thats all.

Hey if you like just wipe system dalvik and cache and upgrade you wont lose any apps but of course if this is an issue or get FC just factory reset... Its soooo simple
Hello all,
can we still get update from google after rooting the rom ?
thanks
Yes, you can update it if you have root. Note: it'll break your root(un-root). You cannot update it, if you have a custom recovery like CWM, TWRP you'll need to be on stock recovery to take an OTA update.
PS: Wrong thread to ask this question try the Q&A thread next time.

Thanks eyan2011 for the explanation. But is stock recovery is enough for imsge backup/ super user etc ... ?
If you mean Nandroid backup (Full system backup) then NO. A custom recovery is needed for that. Stock recovery is used factory reset, wipe cache, manually update the OTA etc..
Hello, after two weeks with my OPT I've decided to sell it, I don't like it.
My OPT has Unlocked Bootloader, root and TWRP. I would like to know how can I restore it like it comes from factory (Locked bootloader, unroot and stock recovery)
Thanks everyone.
There are quite a few tutorials on this, i think there is one here also (sorry cant post links), otherwise there is on the official forum on Oneplus website. IF you need video tutorial search for TheUnlockr on YT they posted a tutorial yesterday. Best of luck.
Ok thank you. It's done.

Of course, after you have flashed stock OxygenOS in TWRP, you wipe data/cache and click reboot system. TWRP ask you to swipe to keep TWRP or you click on Not Disable. Just click on it and the stock recovery is back.
For the bootloader, start the phone on fastboot mode (VOL UP+POWER) and type "fastboot oem lock" in a terminal window.

Hi. Are you able to successfully relock your bootloader? Because I've read some people who relocked the bootloader just bricked the device.
Same situation, though in my case, Im returning the device. Does anybody know if I even have to relock the bootloader before I return it? Its unlocked and rooted with official twrp recovery.
From what I have read so far, relocking the bootloader will brick the device if one does not restore the stock recovery first. But am not 100% sure this is right. Also, I saw a few people posting the stock recovery, but its unclear what version of the device the recovery is for. If Im not mistaken, there are three versions of the hardware, Chinese, Europe (and India) and US. Is it okay to flash a stock recovery from a different region? If not, is there any other way to go back to stock recovery before bootloader relock?
UPDATE: Scratch that, I just had a chat with OnePlus Support and was told that when returning a device to seller, there is no need to unroot and relock the bootloader. If anything, trying to do so might brick the device and kill the warranty, but unlocked and rooted, warranty still applies, and its perfectly fine to return as is.
Just bought my 6T and I have some questions about root:
-Will rooting the 6T wipes internal memory (SD)?
-Can you update OTA while rooted?
Unlocking the boot loader in order to root wipes everything clean. No way around it.
Once rooted I believe you have to apply the full size OTA not the incremental, then make sure to reflash twrp/magisk. See the guides section for details.

Rooting has no effect.
When you unlock the BL it will wipe the phone.
Once that is done, you don't need to fear wiping the phone when rooting.
You can flash the full OTA on the phone by using "local install".
You cannot take the OTA directly since it is incremental and won't install.
Once you download the full OTA you should install, allow the phone to reboot and install again.
This will install on both A/B partitions.

Don't know.
I run stock OS, TWRP, ElementalX kernel and rooted with Magisk.
I add a few Magisk modules for customization.

Curious why that kernel instead of stock? Do you get better battery life out of it?
I wonder what the trade-offs of the custom kernel are...
Ok

Normally the way to upgrade as long as you are doing official is to download the OTA and do a local update.
Then install TWRP. I never wipe to upgrade.

No.
If you are on the stock OOS or the Beta OOS as long as you stay on the same stock or beta; you download the OTA and do a local install.
This preserves your data and you only need to install TWRP and Magisk again.
I don't understand people that whine about having to install TWRP or Magisk again since it only takes about 5 minutes to do correctly.
I just do an OTA local install and hook the phone up to my computer and re-install TWRP, etc.

Sorry, was not talking about you specifically.
Going from a custom ROM to OTA, you do need to wipe.
Going from any ROM to any other ROM, you need to wipe.
you can always "dirty flash" but there is no guarantee for wonky behavior.
On the other hand people want to take the OTA and preserve root.
Rooting take five minute so I don't understand the jumping through hooks to keep root.
