Was just wondering this myself

I was about to post the same thing and it showed me his thread was already out there. Bumping for visibility.
I don't care if it is a quick toggle or a widget but "pull-tap-swipe-tap-tap-swipe" to enable is way too much.

I use Nova Launcher and have a shortcut set up to take me to the screen with the toggle (on/off) switch for Mobile Hotspot. This is very similar to the way you access the built-in DPI settings control.
1) Add widget
2) Drag "Activities" under the Nova Launcher section at the top to the place you want to put it on your home screen (or in a folder)
3) Scroll to "Settings" and expand the selection
4) Select "Mobile Hotspot" (.Settings$WifiApSettingsActivity) (Note: this is on my T-Mobile S7 Edge. YMMV.)
Now when you click on that widget you can activate the hotspot with one additional click.

Here's on Tmobile as well... another way is to add "TMobile Hotspot app" on the edge apps list.. then when you need it, just swipe, tap, tap to enable it

I use this literally everytime I get into my car. (I have a Android Mirror for Navigation). And its a huge PITA, to have to go into settings to enable the hotspot.
I can' believe they have nearby but not Hotspot.

Actually Apps can add there own toggle on Nougat , I have a App called ACR (paid for), and it has a toggle I can add to the pull down menu.
SO we just need a app that enables this and it will be better than before.

I use Tasker to automate hotspot when i get i my car. Create an event to detect bluetooth connection -> turn on hotspot.

I use a Power Toggles widget. With Samsung's Good Lock app, I can even add the widget to the lock screen, and turn on the hotspot without unlocking the phone.

Try this:
It is an app, no permissions no adds, add to homescreen, done.

Widget to toggle between 2G and 3G for rooted phones?

I know that a non-rooted phone can't switch networks with a widget, and most of the time it's a shortcut, but is there a way any app or widget that switch between the two quickly for rooted phones?
switchpro or extended widgets
extended controls just takes you to the config menu and doesn't switch 2g/3g itself
as i am aware of there is no solution for direct change of the network type as of yet....or if there is i missed it!!!

[Q] Quick Remote Lockscreen App

I set up the Quick Remote with a custom controller that combined my TV, 360, and Roku remotes into one. However, if I select Quick Remote from the pulldown quick menu, it doesn't show my remote.
Also, somehow, Quick Remote was added to my lock screen and made default. It also doesn't show my custom remote and I can't figure out how to get it off my lock screen.
Is there any way to get the quick menu version of the app and/or the lockscreen app to show your custom remote?
How do I remove it from my lock screen?
Thanks.
Edit: I found out how to remove it from my lock screen. There's an option in Quick Remote (the main app) to "Auto Display at Home". This will automatically add the quick remote widget to the lock screen when you are connected to your home wifi.
I'm having this same issue. Help would be appreciated.

How do you add a settings widget shortcut?

How do you add a settings shortcut for battery and wifi manager on the home screen? I've been scouring through the widgets and nothing seems to appear, normally with all other phones a "settings" widget is available and you get to choose which settings you want a link to.
Thanks

i was using the galaxy note ii for a while and loved settings widget/shortcut. i moved on to the galaxy note 3 on a different carrier. i also have sm-n9005. both note 3s do not have the settings widget. it is frustrating. what i recommend is installing action launcher by chris lacy. it will add 2 widgets to the widget launcher/menu. choose the activities widget. the list of apps and settings that populates is more extensive than the note ii's version. there you can add bluetooth, data usage, wifi, and tethering one by one. after creating all the shortcuts i needed, uninstalled action launcher. remember to keep touchwiz as your default launcher in the beginning of the process.
(on a side note, action launcher is great. i even purchased the pro key. however, i just don't like the way apps look in folders. in addition, 1x1 widgets do not align properly with regular app icons sometimes. as for 4 row widgets, it automatically adds margins/padding so they look more align with other same sized widgets. some 4 row widgets on touchwiz go edge to edge which is annoying. in regards to the s pen features, air command did not pop up on action. honorable mention, shutters is a great action feature. last mention, i don't use action on the note 3.)

Notification bar wont pull down via gesture

Hello,
I always use a gesture "one finger pull down" to pull down the notification shade, but it is not working for me on the S8 has anyone noticed the same?
I am currently using action launcher 3, but none of the launchers seem to do it for me.
Update, action launcher has been updated and it works now.
Yes. I have the same issue.
Settings > Advanced Features > Enable "Finger Sensor Gestures"
it's working for me, clear your fingerpring and try.. .... mine is S8+
It's not the fingerprint sensor that's not working it's the gesture on the home screen of pulling down. Normally I can swipe down anywhere in the home screen and pull down notifications and quick actions. Right now I have to get my finger all the way to the top. I have tried making the gesture a double tap as well as a two finger pull and nothing works.
I have exactly the same issue! I submitted a bug request with action launcher, in case its a problem with that app. Perhaps you should do that too?
It's not the app. I'm fortunate enough to have Verizon which still allowed the Bixby button to be remapped. (the first time I'm actually happy they are slow at rolling out updates lol). That being said I remapped that button to open notifications and its fine. However using Nova launcher which uses what I assume is the same accessibility interception doesn't work. Hopefully a work around is found so this phone is more usable with one hand.
Definitely an issue with 3rd party launchers and the s8 fingerprint sensor

I have the same issue. Guess i have to get used to use the fingerprint swipe, until they fix it.
Working for me as well.
Did you activate launcher's service in settings>accessibility>services?
Its disabled by default, you have to enable it in the settings, but to be honest, that feature is useless unless you are missing fingers on your hand. and youll end up smudging your camera in the process.
Yeah sure did... Still mot working
I have the same issue using Action Launcher 3. I also have the app ticked in Accessibility.
Everyone who is saying it IS working is misunderstanding the issue. It's not a case of swiping the fingerprint sensor not working, it's a case of launchers that use shortcuts to access the notification shade. For years, I've used Action Launcher 3 where a single finger swipe down OF THE HOMESCREEN brings down the notification shade - that doesn't work anymore. And given the height of the S8 duo, this is the time we need it the most.
It does not work because swiping up/down now brings up app drawers. It is by design. Maybe try disabling app drawers a la iOS style?
You just need to enable Action Launcher in Settings->Accessibility scroll all the way down to services.
(I hope those is the right names, my phone is not set to english)
Looks like Nova Launcher Prime does work for me as long as Accessibility is activated so this problem is mostly just a Action Launcher problem. I remember at one point he moved away from needing accessibility to utilize this feature and maybe its default setting is to not utilize it any longer. I really want to stick with Action Launcher so hopefully the developer will come through with the old way through accessibility.

Ok found a solution but its annoying. If you have Action Launcher and Nova Launcher (Prime may or may not be needed) you can still use action launcher primarily but you'll need to utilize Nova Launcher's action short cuts. So here goes...
1. Open Action Launcher Settings
2. Go to shortcuts
3. Go to swipe down
4. Assign single finger to "Shortcut" > Nova Action > Select Expand Notifications in this menu.
??? profit

GENIUS.
I found another solution as well! works very good.
Install the app "drop down status bar"(WangQi) from play store and then use this app as a shortcut for that gesture you want.

Lock screen weather

I am wondering if someone might be able to answer this. I am trying to get access to the in the lockscreen weather but Verizon has removed the setting to be able to turn this on. Could someone possibly use an app like shortcut master or use Nova launcher and add the activities widget and post what the activities name is to be able to get to the lockscreen weather settings.
It would be something like com.samsung.android.settings.LockScreenWeather or something along those lines.
