Two questions about the GS2's Accuweather Widget.
First, it doesn't seem to update the weather without me hitting the update sync, it also doesn't update locations like Beautiful Widgets does.
Second, I'm also using Launcher Pro, but when I try and resize the Accuweather Widget, the blue color back ground doesn't fit.
So anyone know how to resize in LP?
And get the thing to update the weather and locations?
Thanks

Go launcher, launcher pro and adw fail to resize stock widgets correcty.... You can see that in this video too

Ok, thought so on LP.
What about the updating of the Accuweather widget and locations?
I'm using the AccuWeather Wideget, and I found that disabling the "Enable current location" on AccuWeather causing the high power consumption service "Wifi Sharing Service" disappear from Battery Status list, it used to take 30-40% of my GS2 battery.

I'll try this now. If it works, you would have solved a problem that has been bugging me since May!

Well I've been running Launcher Pro and went back to TW4 today, I had the Accuweather widget running all day with the check mark on Enable Current Location and I have to say my battery life was much better than running Launcher Pro. I didn't use the phone that much today, sat on the desk at home, but push email from K9 was running all day a few text messages ect and for at least 3 hours it showed 100%, right now its at 95%. Thats with WiFi Bluetooth and Sync ON.
When I'm on LP I use Beautiful Widgets, I like how that widget updates your location and weather, but maybe thats whats draining my battery faster than Accuweather.
But exactly what does Enable Current Location do in Accuweather? It doesn't detect my Current location thats for sure.

Please also disable the following functions beside AccuWeather Enable Current Location:
Voice Command & Voice Talk (preloaded on GS2)
Uncheck Settings -> Use location

As my understanding, the Accuweather will keep detecting your location in certain interval to make sure it reporting the weather on your current city and display on the widget. When you have your WIFI On, and you have "Use wireless networks" checked in "Location and security", it will wake up the "Wireless Sharing" service and Accuweather or Voice Command / Voice Talk will use that "Wireless Sharing" service to keep detecting your location, that's why most of the time you see that service drain your battery for 20%-40% daily. Maybe I'm wrong but proved on my phone this method really work.

Thanks Sleepycat, please tell us the result! Hopefully the solution can temporary fix on every GS2 phones' battery problem before Samsung releasing the new firmware.
I think I might have figured out the Enable Current Location feature, it looks like it uses the GPS. Now I'm not sure if it updates on its own like Beautiful Widgets, which btw doesn't use the GPS since I always have it off.

Tried this and WiFi sharing still appears. So your fix doesn't work for me.

Click on the widget and change the setting on auto refresh to what you want.
Mine works fine.
Hello
I have just installed a really clean, neat and simple app called: Wi-fi Status Bar Switch
This is a really simple toggle switch that lives in the status bar.
I am looking for two other simple toggles that can be put in the status bar in a similar way
1. toggle silent mode on/off
2. toggle mobile networks on/off
I know that there are widgets already build in that can do this, but are there any that can work from the status bar in the same way as the wi-fi switch mentioned above. - or is there a way of adding widgets to the status bar?
I have tried the app called Quick Settings - but this opens another window where you then have a series of switches - unfortunately as I have gingerbread the mobile switch does not work so I am looking for other options.
Many thanks. eon
Notification Toggle 1.3
I use that works fine.

I flashed the "Quick Settings" mod to get the same notification bar as Sense 2.1...
Look around the development forum...
I'm also looking for something like this. Thanks, will check out the quick settings mod.

I have made this thread for this purpose. You can try the statusbarmod_quicksettings only mod in this thread
Http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1204178
Thanks for the replies.
I have looked at Notification Toggle - unfortunately that does not have the mobile switch to turn off the networks - or not that I could get it to work.
looked at the Quicksettings Mod - that would have been perfect but I have just installed the latest HTC gingerbread update so I cannot root my phone :-( in order to get it to work.
Why HTC did not have the gingerbread notification window implemented in the latest update is beyond me.
Hi there,
I just flash my X10 with WB 3.8 and although it is included widgetonoff, however, I cannot find the widget for quickly turning on/off 3G/GPRS (just wifi, bluetooth, sound,...). While stock rom 2.3.3 does have this widget, and I found it very useful...
I have read this topic: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1211440, however, when installing there was still no data traffic widget and I really don't like use APN on/off on the market...
Could someone please help me upload the original data traffic widget apk of stock rom 2.3.3?
Many thanks!
Here you go:
I was using Widgetsoid ( https://market.android.com/details?id=com.jim2 ) for all on/off widgets
Is there a shortcut of widget to switch between 2G and 3G?

Was just wondering this myself
I was about to post the same thing and it showed me his thread was already out there. Bumping for visibility.
I don't care if it is a quick toggle or a widget but "pull-tap-swipe-tap-tap-swipe" to enable is way too much.
I use Nova Launcher and have a shortcut set up to take me to the screen with the toggle (on/off) switch for Mobile Hotspot. This is very similar to the way you access the built-in DPI settings control.
1) Add widget
2) Drag "Activities" under the Nova Launcher section at the top to the place you want to put it on your home screen (or in a folder)
3) Scroll to "Settings" and expand the selection
4) Select "Mobile Hotspot" (.Settings$WifiApSettingsActivity) (Note: this is on my T-Mobile S7 Edge. YMMV.)
Now when you click on that widget you can activate the hotspot with one additional click.
Here's on Tmobile as well... another way is to add "TMobile Hotspot app" on the edge apps list.. then when you need it, just swipe, tap, tap to enable it
I use this literally everytime I get into my car. (I have a Android Mirror for Navigation). And its a huge PITA, to have to go into settings to enable the hotspot.
I can' believe they have nearby but not Hotspot.

Actually Apps can add there own toggle on Nougat , I have a App called ACR (paid for), and it has a toggle I can add to the pull down menu.
SO we just need a app that enables this and it will be better than before.
I use Tasker to automate hotspot when i get i my car. Create an event to detect bluetooth connection -> turn on hotspot.
I use a Power Toggles widget. With Samsung's Good Lock app, I can even add the widget to the lock screen, and turn on the hotspot without unlocking the phone.
Try this:
It is an app, no permissions no adds, add to homescreen, done.
