That can't be done on large scale dude. With few people not buying it doesn't affect them.

About 95%, if not more, of all samsung users will give a damn if they have a recent android version. And samsung knows that. So they won't put more effort on software development than needed. It's not like samsung doesn't know about the critics of the power users.. I for myself got a s6 edge just because I had to spend not just one cent for it. If I have to buy a phone google nexus is the way to go.

Still trying is better than doing nothing.

So you are petitioning because you are inpatient?

Signed it...

Thank you those who are supporting.

Marshmallow is out check guys.

It's kinda irrelevant if the handset is carrier branded anyway, as your network will spend some time tweaking (bloating) the ROM before they then release it.

I'd actually rather these slower update cycles than having buggy, rushed software pushed to my device. I'm happy

Signed. Fully agree.

we have to get in touch with Samsung develop to upgrade a good

Is there going to be custom ROMS for Galaxy S?

Galaxy S is a wonderful phone with many-many hardware advantages but with one major disadvantage, and it's called Samsung Software Support.
I really like this phone but I believe that Froyo will be the last update that Samsung is going to give, so i believe that the only hope of this phone is custom Roms
Nexus One have great cookers like to support it. Does anyone have the intention to do the same thing for Galaxy S?
If you are worried about that, then don't buy the Galaxy S now. Wait a month or two and see how it looks then?
regards
Thats what I'm going to do, I don't plan to buy it now, but I have my eye on it and I didnt find any info on the subject, so I made this thread.
hey m8, i know how "Bad" samsung support is and I don't wanna disagree with your opinion but seriously, what major improvements to you want? ginger bread? has it even been stated what ginger bread will improve? for now 2.1 and 2.2 will be good.... and I don't even keep the same phone for longer than 1-2 years, technology improves to fast, phones get slimmer and nicer.
you get my point this is the best out there, take it enjoy it hack it but dont plan on keeping it for a decade.
Well, correct me if I'm wrong, google said that in the next 6 months is going to amaze us. I believe that mean gingerbread.
I also believe that google has many innovations to show us with android so an upgradeable device is necessary.

True, true, but i mean at the very least some common and very easy bug fixes and stuff. I own the Omnia II and the only bug fixes come from cookers and very very few ppl who has privileged access to samsung new roms (and they "won't" tell where they get it from, so prolly insider roms imo).
By the way, what's that "amazing" thing google has announced??? hardware or software??
i think the "bad support" by samsung is exaggerated by people...
i would not call it bad support, if samsung releases updates to add the following long after the release of the phone (they could have said "we already got your money ... bad luck for you"):
they fixed photocontacts, then after it was fixed they changed photocontacts because people did not like the way it worked (but it worked nontheless)...
what company would change something after they just fixed it so it is not broken anymore ? that is really bad support, to hear the wishes and likes of how things should work (even if they are currently not broken).
then they gave us kinetic scrolling .. something that was never even mentioned as feature for the phone in the first place ...
i think its just greedy people who spend some money on a phone and now expect the manufacturer to keep it updated forever so it is always the best with all features that even where not invented when the phone initially was released ... go to work, earn some dollars and buy a new phone instead of expecting a company (whos target is to make money) to spend money just so you have the finest things for free without giving a dime for it and after that the spoilt users will still moarn that they did not get unlimited updates for free
If you check out their open source website, you will find Galaxy S' Kernel and driver. I'm not custom ROM developer, and dose not know about that well.
However, other XDA member said that this is enough to port other ROMs such as Sense UI.
According to Samsung Mobile twitter, Froyo will come 100%. Ginger-Bread is not clear.
I will buy Galaxy S. More people means More support from home cooker.
Gingerbread is going to come out next year. Google said they are going to only release an Android update once a year now. No one even knows what Gingerbread is going to offer next year so why worry about an update? Enjoy it now and enjoy it more when it gets Froyo.

Agreed lol!
the 2.1 on the sammy seems VERY usable, yes forever, not just for a year, because it has nearly everything we would need.
the more you get, the more you want.
I question whether people actually sit down and think. Some say "no 2.2 froyo = a failure".. while before it was "no 2.1 = a failure".. and before that no "1.6 = a failure". it's a foolish never ending cycle of wanting more more more even though each version is fully usable.
seriously what kind of comment is that, the phone has everything almost, even if it doesn't according to the person, it has enough for us to use it as a phone and camera and internet and mp3/video.
I hope people will realize what is on the sammy is enough (unless you want to install themes only that's cool).
Obviously not indicative of whether or not the GS will get Gingerbread, but as for bug fixes Samsung are apparently releasing GS firmware updates in Singapore:
http://forums.hardwarezone.com.sg/showthread.php?t=2781948&page=95
From my own limited experience, there were several firmware updates for the Omnia I as well, although never an official upgrade from WinMo 6.1 to to 6.5 even though the phone could run it just fine (probably because they wanted to sell Omnia II instead).
Well, that's what i mean. I also had omnia, it's a very good phone that never got win6.5 officially even though it could.
That's what i'm afraid of with galaxy.
I expect many innovations with every new version of android so it would like to be able to have it in Galaxy s if im going to be an owner.
Lets hope that a great cooker is heading this way
Well, concerning Samsung's support, I'm pretty sure it's not going to be that bad. Samsung released Android 2.1 for the Galaxy Spica way before HTC has released Android 2.1 for the Hero. It's got a bed rep because of the way they handle the Behold I and II in the US and some Windows Mobile phones, and that's because they apparently don't want to support phones that haven't sold well (and probably because they have to pay for the Qualcomm drivers). Because the Galaxy S is probably going to be rather popular with its worldwide release and runs on Samsung's own hardware, I do think Samsung will supply us with an update, at least to Android 2.2.
As for ROM development: Samsung has provided us with the complete source of Android running on the Galaxy S, so it should be perfectly possible to develop ROMs once the device is rooted (which could even be accomplished with the HTC Incredible) and a bootloader can be used for it. At least, that's how far I've understood it.

Their Symbian phones didn't get the same love as well. I am afraid this is not restricted to one part of the world or one phone or two. It's just Samsung providing almost perfect hardware and crappy software.
The orphan approach is what Samsung keep doing. While, the community suppose to be the one adopting Samsung projects. This kinda lame and I really hate it.
Anyway, back to the topic (somehow).
Does anyone of you heard any news about Samsung Galaxy S Pro?
I am trying to hold for 1 month or two before getting my Android and I am not the type who changes his phone according to a season or his pair of shoes.
Hopefully, the keyboard version comes sooner than latter.
The next thing to wow us is probably gonna be phones with screens that can produce 3D effects
Probably not a good idea to compare how Samsung treats phones with an OS, they have/had to pay for(WM and Sybian) with one that's free(Android). Upgrading those payed for OS' might be much more expensive than the free OS. The higher the cost the less likely anyone would wanna upgrade, no?
Personally I think this is kinda silly. Is there any mobile manufacturer that has a really good trackrecord(aside from possibly Apple)? Seems people moan about the support, or lack of, from all of them...

I think HP used to produce quick update for windows mobile devices. However, they are charging for the update. That for windows 2003se to WM5.
I have bad experience with HTC. They take forever to update.
Another phone I have is O2 XDA mini. I never have any update since the device release.

Hashtag for Twitter: For those pissed at Samsung * #NeverAgain *

I stay in the Vibrant section, but was hoping others could help the cause.
I generally remain calm and try and remain upbeat and defend... but the news (rumor/leak) about Samsung holding off the froyo release to sell more phones set me over the edge.
While nothing is confirmed, I still believe Samsung needs to be aware of just how pissed they are making our community. I'm not talking stupid class action, blah blah... I simply want our voice heard, and for a Froyo release to happen ASAP... but beyond that, I want them to adhere to the Open Handset Alliance and release their source for our developers.
http://www.openhandsetalliance.com/
I believe we all now who is going to put out a better product, and right now they (our developers) are handicapped because they do not have everything they need.
That said, we need to be organized!
We need twitter to trend.
To do that, we all need to use the same #hashtag. We also need to threaten something that means something to them... the whole problem is they are not updating to help with their sales (allegedly). Well, we need to threaten to never buy Samsung again.
Please use this #Hashtag:
#NeverAgain
would work.... it is easy to use, short and to the point.
An example: (just copy/paste this if you like)
[email protected] I will never buy a Samsung product after the way you've treated your customers. #NeverAgain

Haha. Did you see they just said they plan on selling 60 million handsets in 2011? I had to tweet back to them myself on that one. I said good luck since about 50% of power users won't ever buy another samsung after the failures with the Galaxy S.
Thanks for the crosspost from the vibrant forum, I wouldn't have seen it otherwise, so I hope the mods don't remove it.
I set up a twitter account just to complain to Samsung. They should be embarrassed over this. They and Sprint should fire all their devs and hire the folks here. It's ridiculous what is accomplished here by the developers working without full resources or a paycheck compared to what Samsung gets accomplished. It's amateur hour over there.
Tweeted!!! I'm with this movement all the way. Never again will I buy another Samsung phone.

Thanks man, I felt bad because I did it and THEN thought to myself, shoot... this breaks an XDA rule. I hope that XDA will have a bit of leniency for this isolated event. That said, I certainly would understand if they did close it... sad but I did break a rule.
Our developers need their source!
I also want to add GalaxySSupport to complain to on twitter. It is the support twitter feed for all of the US Galaxy S variants.

Don't be so sure of that. A smaller website maybe, but one like xda that reaches so many people, its possible to scare them enough to believe we can effect their sales. Its energy better spent than posting over and over speculating about froyo so it also serves a two fold purpose. Overall I'm behind this.
Sent from my SPH-D700 using Tapatalk
Done as well.
Man, i hope that rumor isn't true..
Did my part. I hope Samsung listens. They make great phones but need to step away from using an open source platform to maximize how much money they coul make by leaving their existing phone users to die.
I agree with everyone that says the hardware is great, but I just can't stand the fact that Samsung is so slow to update to froyo even after all the complaints. There isn't any sort of support for this phone. Also, the fact they can't promise 2.3 (Gingerbread), as LG has done on the Optimus, even though they were able to put 2.3 on a Nexus S which basically has the same hardware is ridiculous.
You can tell me that I should just root and stop whining but that doesn't solve the problem. It's the principle. I feel like people are just sitting back and saying that the corporations will do what they want to do, which is to look only at short term profits (based on the article on AndroidSpin). If we can affect their bottom line through bad reviews of their products and petitions such as this one I'm sure they'll listen.
Also, if we just sit back and do nothing they'll just do it again and again. The reason for the "whining" is not for the sake of just whining, I just personally want to have the best android platform we can get.
In addition, isn't it just easier for everyone (rooted and not rooted) if we got the upgrade from Samsung directly? So why not try to make our lives easier.
That's why I'm all for this. Just my two cents.
Also, I would suggest people write poor reviews on places like CNET where less "techy" people might read reviews on cellphones before making purchases.
dont think this is going to work because with twitter they haev the same canned response everytime its mentioned , someone needs to reach the higher ups like super management somehow. let them know how unhappy everyone is
Whuts do we need to post on Samsung site? I honestly post sumthing to them daily about dropping the ball on froyo n galaxy
They responded to me w the bull ish Re they sent to everybody about froyo due to the complexity whutever lol

I wish HTC had invented the super amoled and bought intrinsity instead of samsung. After hearing about all these "new" galaxys s phones being released I can only hope that if and when the froyo source is released it will give devs the code they need for porting 2.3 and beyond. I hope people realize they shouldn't buy these phones and the new galaxy s sales plummet to hell.
I don't use twitter, so I can't post but I do hope this movement is successful in getting samsung to wake up.
I just posted a "tip" link to the Vibrant article on Engadget. The whole Galaxy S Froyo update has been a running joke there, so hopefully they will pick up on this latest news.

The Class Action is great, what else can we do?

As someone else said, imagine what would happen if the iPhone's GPS didnt work, so why is Android held to a lower standard? Why are we supposed to accept whatever we are given, regardless of what we are promised? The SGS and iPhone 4 cost about the same amount, but we, as Android owners are supposed to just be grateful for anything that we get even when its less than promised?Samsung is already "rumored" to be planning our phone's successor. Thats bull****, we dont deserve to be treated like this. I love the Class Action Suit, but does anyone have any other creative ideas to not only help out current SGS owners but also ruin possible SGS 4G prospects? Samsung needs to be taught that we wont just be grateful for whatever we get, we demand what we are promised, we demand what we pay for; this is only reasonable.
A company should at least have some concern for their consumers, even if its barely recognizable. Samsung left us with a broken device we paid handsomely for, they have 0 concern for us. So I pray to whoever is listening up there that the SGS 4G fails miserably. If I knew how, Id make and circulate a Facebook page with just a couple of sentences outlining the case against Samsung. Even those who dont know much about Android would pay attention to a facebook page saying Samsung has ripped off SGS consumers, so avoid any Samsung phone at all costs, there are plenty of great alternatives. Maybe there is a more effective avenue, maybe we could even pursue multiple avenues. The goal is to bring attention to the shortcomings of the SGS we currently have, it deserves Samsung's attention. And now is the time, while the class action is getting attention, lets pile it on. Im happy to do what I can, im just not sure what to do. Any ideas?
kinda like the facebook page idea. I hate that Samsung doent give a **** about selling us a broken phone, even if they said they were really sorry itd be ok if they didnt fix it. Not only are they pricks, they're dicks too.
Well, debut day of Vibrant 4G or Successor is coming up. There will be people showing up to buy them. They will be watching its debut day. There will also be press and reviewers about its debut. Thus, if you have a crew of buddies willing to help you out in boycotting their Vibrant 4G or any of the coming Galaxy S product with picket signs and banners for in front of the local stores with drums and horns. Have your buddies call up local news and it will make it to some news since people will wonder what is going on... Resist if they give you and your buddies Vibrant 4G to shut you guys up. Too bad we just missed the CES. With all those press there, that would have been perfect! We need to organize into big group to do this more effectively even if lawsuit takes forever.
This will get them to know how angry we are about this "Froyogate"
Also, maybe somebody needs to make a boycott app for ALL Galaxy S product.
Report our problems on site like RipOffReport.com, scam.com, ScamBusters.org
Give the bad review that you think the product deserve on sites like amazon epinion, pricegrabber, cnet, etc.

Corporations want to maximize their profits, both for themselves and their shareholders. Thus, this shouldn't come as a surprise.
A tipster has come forward and said that Samsung is holding back the Android 2.2 (Froyo) update from the T-Mobile Vibrant (Samsung Galaxy S variant) because they are afraid that such an update will impact sales of their upcoming Samsung Vibrant 4G Plus.
Reportedly, the new device is little different than the original Vibrant. In addition to the original Vibrant, the Vibrant 4G Plus has a front-facing camera, Android 2.2, and HSDPA+ 21 support.
Here's what the tipster said:
Some disturbing things have happened the last week or so concerning our “Vibrant”. Samsung has NOT allowed us to push the update OTA for 2.2 because they feel it will decrease the value of the upcoming Vibrant4G +. While from a marketing aspect i totally understand, as the Vibrant 4G is what the original Vibrant should have been in the 1st place. But to shun off and bold face lie to customers is NOT what T-Mobile is about.

Furthermore, if Froyo works in "Vibrant 4G" - another product of Vibrant, this means it should be already for distribution for the Vibrant 3G version with minor changes.
I like the sound of all of this. I can't stand the idea that samsung suffers no repercussions for selling so many broken phones. Froyo or no froyo, the phones gps is broken, samsung shouldn't have the option to not fix it, it's INSANE
I thought that if you demonstrate to T-Mobile that the official Samsung GPS Tool fails, they would consider it defective and send for a replacement. Don't crucify me if I'm wrong, I haven't dealt with either companies.
My Samsung Vibrant came hardware locked, with faulty GPS. Samsung told me it wasn't there problem (no warranty because I brought it into Canada without an "international warranty"). Have I thought about a class action suit? Nope. I dunno, maybe it's because I'm Canadian or something, but I've just tried to fix my own problems. It's not the first product that's let me down, and I don't expect some lawyer to make it all better. Eventually the awesome people on this forum came up with a fix for the hardware lock. Then they brewed up roms based on the 2.2 leaks. Then a hardware GPS fix, combined with new software updates and now my GPS locks on in under 15s.
So what have I learned from all of this? I won't be purchasing a Samsung phone again. They've lost a customer. I vote with my wallet, not by signing some e-petition, or joining a Facebook group.
Do you really think a class action would change anything? Even if you are successful, you'll probably just get a credit towards your next Samsung purchase, or a refund on the cost of the GPS chip.
Let them know how you feel, and that you won't purchase any of their products in the future, and will be advising friends/family to do the same. kobesabi has outlined some great ways to let them know.

I understand your feelings. And I think most people in here is of the mindset that we can fix our phones better than Samsung. What is going on here is a movement towards holding Samsung to their promises. They are in the OHA and therefor are legally bound to release the Source Code for the Vibrant. The second thing is that they promised multiple times throughout the last year that they would release Froyo to the US Galaxy S phones, and they didn't. If you vote by your wallet that is OK. How much do you spend on buying a new phone? With the current pricing around $500 without contract. If one person doesn't give Samsung their $500, Samsung doesn't care. If all the people on XDA doesn't give them $500, Samsung still won't care. However if we can get enough people to realize that Samsung is not a good company to buy from as they have TERRIBLE software support for their phones, if we could get 100,000 people at first, that is $50 million, which is still just a drop in the bucket for them, but that is surely more painful than $500. This is to try to make Samsung take responsibility for their products.
Agreed, Samsung should be held to the agreements made regarding their source code. I also agree that people should be informed Samsung as a company, and their poor customer relation choices.
I just think a Class Action is the wrong way to do it

Any ideas?

BOYCOTT THE SAMSUNG 4G
I made a theme song
http://www.reverbnation.com/play_now/song_6815946
(To be honest I would have made this song at least a month ago before all of this but I was real busy all through December)
Here's one more thing we can do:
Post bad reviews of Samsung Galaxy phones on all online retailer web sites that sell them. Got an Amazon account? Post feedback there and drive this phone's rating down it gets Samsung's attention and warns potential buyers about buying a product that they will most likely be dissatisfied with once they realize that GPS is marginally functional and that it's running now outdated version of Android with no update in sight. Do the same on Tiger Direct, NewEgg and whoever else sells this phone.
Collectively we can definitely make Samsung take notice.

Also, people can also get creative on Youtube. Or something like MicBeast...the more sabateurs try to oppose him, the more view counts it gets and the more people pay attention to it.

I will be working on a YouTube video
exactly what kobesabi said
don't be fooled by the saboteurs
they had my thread closed
and I will not respond to any more of their BS
I am still going through with this class action
My original thread regarding the CA had nothing to do with this song
This came out of me complaining to people
about the constant issues I've had with my Vibrant
They would say "just shut up and make a song about it"
So I finally did

This is why Android sucks - Update hell

Samsung has a great tablet but it is rapidly falling behind others in the updates.
And the BS about only rolling in certain markets to alienate customers.
Who does that?
Who in their right mind thinks that is a great idea?
So everywhere else your paying customers don't get the update they deserve.
Also we still don't have touchwiz, but Samsung is rolling out updates to certain people wtf? Some got Touchwiz, some got Google Movies, mine shows jack / nada / zilch.
Honestly, I don't know what Samsung's logic is for all this but it just sucks.
Stop whining.

I only see Xoom and TF having HC 3.2 so far. Everybody else is still on 3.1.
It just came out...geez cry me a river...return and get a bulky tab with crappy screen....u sound like those guys on vibrant forum...go pout somewhere else! And most of us are running touchwiz...spend less time complaining about the best tab out and learn to flash.

take it back and go get yourself an Ipad then
You sir need an I pad..
And you still got a GT 10.1 because...?
i do totally agree with you about Samsung really, really sucking it in the update department. The problem with Samsung is they build really awesome and powerful devices but they just don't build the software to match up with them. That is why we have XDA. Dude you can run touchwhiz and you can update. Just give it some time and you will see some better things on here that Samsung can't even come close to touching. This is a brand new tab and only a few weeks old. Give everyone a chance to pick one up and then this forum is going to blow up.
OP Samsung is a hardware company, google is the one who developed android. Because android does not belongs to Samsung thats why samsung cant do anything about updates and stuff. You can see Apple's updates moves fast because they are both hardware and software manufacturer so they can do fast updates they have one device to fix it. Google has so many devices to take care of and so many regions to consider. So it will take more time than usual. As you can see on samsung website that they uploaded the new drivers for pc and mac which was fast update because that update was in their hand. Samsung has nothing to blame about update if you want to blame then blame google.
Once ics comes out and the source is released there won't be a problem.
you are right about google
But the hardware vendors are responsible for the updates.
So it is Samsung.
Google has no idea how they are going to enforce update policy and there is no guarantee Samsung will even upgrade the 10.1.
i don't understand way people complain about updates. If it is that important root and flash.
A little game I play with fellow android users is ask them what version are they running most don't know or even know how to look.

I bet most of them would be able to tell you what features are buggy on their device though

What don't you understand? That I am a tech savy individual but want to have the most up-to-date software on my device in a timely time-frame? Or that I DO NOT want to Root or Flash my Tablet? Be serious. Your telling him to basically get a iPad because they offer updates across the board. That's not a good thing for Android.
DO NOT WANT TO ROOT OR FLASH !!?
WHAT ARE YOU DOING ON XDA THEN ?!! LOLZ
you guys are funny to post these complains here, if you want something official ?
go on Samsung's website/facebook or just send them a bunch of hate mail.

Actually 8. 2 iPhone's, 2 iPod Touches, 4 iPad's. #justsayin
Android is to college as the iPad is to high school. It's more work but the rewards are greater.
There are plenty of people happy with the iPad. Personally, I'm not going to settle for a device that my grandmother can use.
I'll never understand why people are so hell bent on having the latest upgrade of the OS on the devices they use. It's an over the top emotional quest for some.
The Galaxy Tab is a tool, a means to the end. It's not the end itself.
These are the same people that get a new car every two years because their car looks dated. It's a status thing that makes no sense.
If you can run the apps you need on the Galaxy Tab then it matters not what version Android is installed.

I'm sure that's the case for some and I agree with some of what you say, but I can say for me, however, that it is the allure of the promise of improved functionality. Anything that makes my device harder, better, faster, stronger is all right by me. Of course, roms can do that too, but some prefer "official" whether the reason is snobbery, stock OCD, timidness, what have you.

I look outside my office and see 10 cubicles, all with PCs running Windows XP. It's stable and runs like a work horse. And, you know what? They get their job done every day and go home at the end of the week with a paycheck. Never once have they asked for Windows 7.
I simply can't imagine what the next version of Android, or Touchwiz, will do for the average user to make it worth venting about on a public forum simply because they didn't get it NOW.

Good luck.
What is the point to be negative? If you want you can laid down and wait the dead. If someone can try, I wish the best. Simple.

Firstly not knocking the OP here just my view having been around a long time.
These petitions do nothing i remember seeing them about in the original note forum. Nothing has changed in that respect.
Secondly i have just returned to the note from a Nexus 6, and do you know what, i am glad to be back on Samsung software. Yes i had MM late last year but thats not always the greatest position to be in. as i felt i was an actual beta tester for most of that time, with odd things happening. SO samsung come out many months afterwards but let me tell you this, The MM i installed last week is a hell of a lot more stable than what i left with on the nexus range. So yes not first to the party but however i am happier having a stable feature rich software which means i can use my phone without fear of rebooting if it means i wait.
To be honest apart from Doze there is very little difference from LP, yes minor features here or there but nothing that would get me into os jealousy at all, i just wanted a good stable daily driver and we all have that. Will we get Android N who knows and to be honest ive got to the point where stock software is actually better than good enough and no longer feel the need to have the latest and have it now
Its just my opinion that suits my needs and i understand everyone is different, hell i used to be a must have it now os kinda guy but not any more, im just happy with what i have, and thats a stable feature rich os on a cracking device that performs everything i wont of it.

Its a bit whiney and you'd get better support and a better response by being positive.
Do you get sleepless night by a fw updated being delayed a few weeks? Really?? Sorry I'm not signing this one especially with a title like this.. It needs to be a little more focused and professional. For instance, I understand most phone makers offer updates for 18 months to 2 years and even then they don't say how they will be maintained.
HOWEVER what I would like to see is firms like Samsung issuing security updates more quickly and more regularly. Also why don't they package the security update enabling it to be distributed to ALL devices without having to customise each one?? Basic build standards I'd say.
Having the latest and greatest fw is fine - but it needs to work, and due to the fact they don't issue updates too often they need to get it right - hence peoples expectations aren't met. I say peoples expectations because Samsung don't issue exact dates - the press make them up. SO where are getting your info from??
I'd further add a security update is more important to me than receiving MM. The last update before MM was received on 11/11/15! Nexus received monthly updates....leaving our devices exposed to exploits.
Your intentions are good - just needs to be a little more specific, justified and a tad more professional.

Ok, enough with this stuff. Samsung is a multi billion dollar company. They will do whatever they want to do. Whenever they want to do it. Now, now instead of signing a petition. Why not stop buying the Samsung product. Use your head.
I'd rather wait for a solid update then a buggy one.
There is so much red tape involved with these updates. Different models, countries, different regulations, government, etc.
Then, if they screw it up, and your personal info is compromised, this opens up a huge liability issue.
It's far more complicated then most people realize. Things happen. Hell, the whole apple/fbi thing has all the manufacturers thinking and making changes.
Sent from my SM-N920T using Tapatalk
If you wanted rapidly released updates, you should have bought a Nexus. If you want leading edge hardware and solid reliable software, stick with Samsung.
I do wish the OP the best with this.
Unfortunately, I have seen many of these petitions, and cannot recall not one that gave the desired result. Besides, it's petitioning the government to intervene in a company and its operation. That alone will doom this petition.

It's not only Samsung's problem and actually Google's design problem called "Fragmentation", just google it, you will find tons of stuff.
Nevertheless, Android N most likely will solve the problem. Android N is separating the partitions of Google Core and Vendor/Carrier Customization.
The advantage will be, same day Google core software update rollout in all devices without any dependency on Vendor/Carrier customization and vice versa.
Google for more details on Android N.
Fingers crossed....
