Anyone know if these Tmobile S7 Edge is unlocked? Or how do you get them unlocked? Thx/
There locked, you can go to eBay and purchase an unlock code for under $20. Doesn't matter if the IMEI is blocked, lost/stolen, financed, etc.
T Mobile never unlock their device , doesnt matter if you paid in full .
If you paid in full , you need to use you device with your line for 40 days to qualified for unlocked.
Or you can try cellunlocker.net to buy unlock with T Mobile unlock app , it will cost you $39.99 and processing time in 1-3 days.
Just purchased today and now waitting for email when unlock completely done.
Please let us know when you receive your unlock code. Did you use cellunlocker or ebay? How much did it cost you?
T-mobile might disagree (apparently they do... sketchy) but there legally obligated to unlock a fully paid off device provided that 1) You've been a customer for over a year and 2) Your account's in good standing. Here's the full deal (all US carriers signed and agreed to implement these terms), as well as where/how to file a complaint if they don't respond to your request within 2 days: https://www.fcc.gov/consumers/guides/cell-phone-unlocking-faqs
If I were trying to get a phone unlocked knowing that I was eligible, I would try to get escalated at the first hint of being jerked around, then make sure that they knew I knew the law/my rights... that I play golf with Tom Wheeler on Thursdays ya know, whatever's pertinent... and if they try to fault some bs "policy", i.e. "you can only unlock x devices/year" (something that I just read on a Tmo site) I'd try to stay cool but firm, and make sure that they know that you know what you're talking about. You may have to file a complaint with the FCC but hopefully that will get results.... I'm actually planning on paying off my current phone (Note 4) and keeping it, so I'm glad that you asked about 'official' unlocking because I hadn't really though about that :good: I want to pay this thing off and call them up to see what happens now! I actually started writing up a "script" of what I'd say to the highest level rep I could get connected to if the gave me any (illegal, as of 2/15) grief. It was getting lengthy so I cut it from this post, but let me know if you think it might help and I can finish it up and post.
I highly recommend that you write down the names of anyone you talk to, and if you live in a single-party consent state and have the means, it couldn't hurt to record the call either (not quite sure how it would help, but if you're on a custom ROM with it built in, might as well). Good luck! I'm interested to hear how it goes

They did unlock my s5 last yr and wasnt fully paid. I asked for them to unlock it since i will be using it in another country

I have an agreement where they unlock my phones period in case of military deployment. Literally bought the phone Saturday night on JoD, and Monday at noon, it was unlocked. If you have good enough reason to be outside of the terms, they will unlock it, otherwise, I have never had a problem getting a phone unlocked through T-Mo as long as I was within their guidelines.

I logged on to their site and chatted with the live person and asked if the U.S. Tmo HD2 was SIM unlockable. They said yes.
I proceeded to go through the motions. Bought unlock on Paypal. Ran local client. Got rejected saying US/France/Canada can't do the auto method, had to email them for code. Emailed. Heard back in about 20 mins. They said computer was not kicking back a unlock code.
This was about 6 hours ago. Still waiting.
Anyone have any luck with the U.S. HD2 and htccode.com? I'm not criticizing them just stating my experience so far.
If I get a code by tomorrow I'll be happy. Otherwise I would like a refund as Tmobile service in my area is not nearly as good as ATT. So I currently have ATT and was just trying the HD2. So I figured I'd unlock it and pop in my ATT SIM to see if I get better luck on reception. Otherwise I'm gonna have to try the Telstra model. Bigger investment.
And yes I know I won't get 3G on ATT. But as it is I'm not getting any reception whatsoever on Tmo.
Not much help to you, but I went with unlock-now.com. Been about 1.5 days and not a peep from them. I am in the same boat, trying to use it with ATT.
Wish luck for you by the morning. In my experience so far, htccode.com is really good and quick. I used them twice before and got my unlock code for only 10'
I am waiting for any good news from either of you...I want to use att sim

If your carrier in India supports the same bands the T-Mobile HD2 does then yes. People like me that are on ATT will be stuck on the 2g/Edge data connections because ATT and T-Mobile don't share the same 3g bands.
All a sim lock does is make only the carriers sim card work on the device.
And for the record still nothing from unlock-now. I wish they would at least reply to my support ticket, I understand it's a new device, but communication is key to a good business.
Let's hope htccode.com can figure this out...
can't you just call Tmobile and ask them for the unlock code? I've read somewhere they will give u the code after 2 or 3 days

I was about to ask the same question. T-Mobile is usually pretty good about giving out the unlock code. Especially if you bought the device unsubsidized.

I called them twice and was told they would give the code after a certain amount of time but only if you have had an active account as they need it to send you the code...I KNOW for a FACT that is not true but its what they told me both times. More likely they have the code right in front of them if not on the next screen, but its not the reps fault they just following orders.
So far:
freeyourhtc.com = Could not return a code...Refunded my money within 2 hours from purchase. $18.99
htc-unlocker.org = Emailed me code after 2 hours; it didn't work. BUT!!! They emailed me twice since saying they are working on it. After 24 hours they emailed me saying the code is not in any of the databases but they can request it from TMO but they want an additional $10.00 and it could take 3 days. $19.99
leo.unlock-now.com (unlock-now.com) = Not so much even as an email to say thank you for the payment. Still waiting, site says it could take up to 2 days...it has been almost a day and a half so far. They sent me a refund (Not quite 2 days yet) saying my code could not be found without me ever emailing them so I guess not so bad after all, also said try back in 15 days.$23.95
I also emailed 2 ebay unlock sellers they have not wrote back yet.
Man I miss Olipro and Cmonex ---They dont have an unlocker on their site yet!!!
BLAHHH
I am going through the same exact thing!
I used HTCCode.com and after I paid and d/l the client they say it wouldn't because my PayPal is from the U.S.
Sim-unlocker.com- is garbage. They haven't gotten back to me at all. They did how -ever happily take my money with out any issues
T-Mobile-They have been the most helpful, they said since I purchased my phone at a major retailer they would do it but I had to fax some info. I than said that was unacceptable and the kind lady asked if i had any friends on T-mobile. luckily I did and they said it would at max take 48hrs. I have been waiting since last night..

If I remember right there was a legal deal regarding the unlock code situation. You are the owner of the phone and have the right to the code. The carrier is required to give you the code. I have had good luck getting tmo USA to give me my codes on past phones. It sometimes takes a day or two because they had to get it from htc.

When I bought the phone and I made sure to request my phone would would be unlocked so I can compare with my AT&T service. I did not transfer my number and kept my AT&T account open.
When I called in to have it unlocked, one guy said they can't unlock it until after 14 days, which is the last day to return the phone in many states. I called again and a lady said I have to be through 2 billing periods or 40 days to get it unlocked. This is not written in my contract. I demanded something in writing and there is not a written policy or specific terms on this. But yet, I'm "contractually" binded to this "policy" even though it was never discussed to me nor was it in my contract. I didn't leave the store until I got a written documentation of the conversation around the 40 days.
Then I look at the Terms and Conditions online and line item #6 states customers have the right to have it unlocked.

It's all in how you interpret "you may be eligible"...
WTF does that mean? Do they have the right to place eligibility requirements on it even? What are the U.S. laws regarding this?
How do you think the ones that popped up on ebay right away after release got their codes so fast?
I have tried 3 unlocking sites and they all said code cannot be found at this time.

They were unable to unlock my T-Mobile US HD2. Also looking for someone to unlock my new phone.
I've been "pressuring" htccode.com to come up with a unlock. If they can do it I told them I'd put a post on my site (HTCHD2.NET) which might drum up some sales. It's gets a decent amount of hits so hopefully this will motivate them.
Just so you know here,
Ive just unlocked my Dell Streak with this website
http://www.unlockstreak.com/pages/download-dell-streak-unlock-software
Although they charge you $29 us , for me, it was worth it ,
Ive nothing to do with the site, but the emails they sent, although, weren't used as they weren't required, they offered a good technical backup
At the end of the day, you can pay by paypal, so, if everything goes up in the air, you can get your $29 back,
ROFL
If it's AT&T locked, all you have to do is call AT&T Technical support and they will give you the code free of charge, no hassles. I actually just did this today.
All they need is your Streak's IMEI, which can be found by going to the dialer and pressing *#06# .
I'm pretty sure that all they have to do is look it up in a database, so it should be a similar procedure for other carriers.
I just don't understand how people can be okay with paying for a code, when half the time it's a scam even. I absolutely *will* not pay for an unlock code, especially when I already own the device 100%, it's absolutely outrageous that people have the nerve to charge up to $100 for a code. Extremely greedy programmers, that's all it is.

I had to pay because i didnt want to wait for my case to be resolved. Ive gotten unlock code multiple times from att for my previous phone with no issue till i got the streak.
got my code in 2 days via e-mail from at&t

I woulda seriously considered paying $50-100 for a true unlock for my iphone 3g around when i purchased it, At&t wont unlock it period and you have to jailbreak + ultrasnow.
The real issue is that no american carrier is required to unlock any phone, just be glad you can get a code at all (excluding issues fast's). they could charge you for the code like other carriers elsewhere

The American cell phone carriers settled a lawsuit on this. I believe that as part of the settlement is that AT&T gives unlock codes to their customers who meet certain criteria. If you call and don't meet the criteria then you've only wasted a phone call. If you buy an unlock code that does not work (which happens many times) you are out the cost. So - American carriers are required, in certain circumstances, to give you the unlock code.
If you are buying a phone from an AT&T customer have the original purchaser get the code. One thing they require is proof of legitimate ownership and it's easier for the original buyer to do this. Another requirement is that you are an AT&T customer, if you are buying a phone to use on another network you may not meet this requirement, but the original buyer will.
Historically AT&T has been pretty lenient with long term customers who ask for unlock codes for travel purposes.
I've asked about unlocking iphones when i called to unlock my streak (twice mind you) and they still wont unlock them as of jan. I bought the phone straight from them and it's contract has run though and ended.
If they do unlock them than it's definitely not though the obvious call at&t and ask for unlock code.
That and iphones dont get unlock codes per-say, they're unlocked though itunes and at&t needs to authorize it with apple or something. So either apple+at&t is an exception or it might be a case of "strongly recommend but not required for all"
I would like to know if i flash over my phone to use Android will I then be able to use it on another Network?
on a different network no. rooting your phone does not sim unlock your device. if you call your provider they normally dont have any problem giving you an unlock code for your device. im on the tmobile network and i wanted to unlock my old phone to sell on ebay (unlock can fetch more $) so i called tmobile, they gave me an unlock code (free) i put a at&t sim in my phone to complete the process and it was done. really very simply.
i purchased the phone from CL and i was on a month to month plan with T Mobile for about a year and I did not renew this month. Do I have any options?

You can pay $30 on eBay and get unlock code for it - that will get it unlocked and then you can use it on any other network.
BTW - if you get the unlocking code while you have Android on your phone you can still unlock it with your code you get.
yea i've seen unlock codes on ebay as low as $10, it all depends on your phone.
i would still try t-mobile anyway and say you use to be a customer and you wanted to unlock your old phone so you can sell and use it on a different network. the most they can do is say no so there wouldn't be any harm done in still calling. i think that they would still do it. if you reach someone and they say no, hang up and try 1 last time. i always get conflicting stories everytime i call t-mobile anyway so you might just luck out.
(they unlocked an old phone i wasn't using with t-mobile, giving i still was under contract but they still unlocked a phone that wasn't on my contract)
I called T Mobile and told them I am going overseas and I need it unlocked the rep told me he would submit the request and I will get an email within 5 -7 days with instructions on how to unlock the phone. That is a long wait I did not know it took 7 days to do anything anymore. Oh well .
Thank you all for helping I appreciate it.
if you need to unlock a phone to go overseas i think its a different process so maybe thats why its so long because it only took me 10 mins to get the code from them.
T-Mobile uk charge £25 and theres a 28 day wait for them to snailmail the code to you.
Unlocking.com was £10 and 10 minutes.

Thank you for taking the time to contact T-Mobile. Unfortunately, we are unable to provide the unlock code at this time. After review of the account we have determined that the device is not in use with the corresponding mobile number. T-Mobile policies and procedures state that the device must be in use on the mobile number requesting the unlock code. If this is a new device please allow 3-4 business days prior to submitting a new request to allow your usage to update in our system.
Looks like I will have to pay...
That really doesn't make much sence because they unlocked a phone I no longer was using. I think I was using my hd2 for 6 months when they gave me the unlock code for my mytouch 3g slide. Well it was worth a shot...kinda goes back to me saying I always hear conflicting things from t-mobile.

Hi! What happens is this
My family in the USA brought a Samsung Galaxy S7 edge then they send to me (I live in Mexico) and when I try to use with Mexican networks it was locked, I found an unlocked company (DoctorSim.com) but I'm afraid, do you think that if I unlocked my phone, I will can use as normal? Or it will be another issues? It worth 60 dollars, and well, in Mexican economy that's a lot of money!
Please respond, and share your thoughts I want to use my Galaxy (sorry for my bad English)
And in Mexico is legal unlock your cellphone with any method and in Mexico the networks don't block your phone in case of robbery.
I've used unlocker.com and they usually will unlock ur phone , as long as it's not listed as stolen. Also many , many local phone stores that aren't affiliated with a company. Like a place that sell boost and phones like that, a personal phone store business they have the machine to unlock those phones, at much cheaper. Most you should pay is $40, usually 29 bucks is the rate. Hit me back and I can give you some legit spots that will and if they can't they will refund you the money where most won't. About to unlock my Tmobile phone that's not paid off threw one very shortly so I can let you know in coming weeks about that

You do not need a T-Mobile account. Try to call T-Mobile internationally or contact them thru the twitter account. According to the website this is the only requirements to unlock it
--
Unlock requirements
We provide mobile device unlock codes free within two business days (or provide further information about timing) for eligible devices.
Device eligibility is determined as follows:
The device must be a T-Mobile device.
The device must not be reported to T-Mobile as lost, stolen, or blocked.
The account associated with the device must not be canceled, and be in good standing.
You have requested no more than two mobile device unlock codes per line of service in the last 12 months.
The device must satisfy all the Postpaid or Pay in Advance (Prepaid) Unlocking terms outlined below.
T-Mobile may request proof of purchase or additional information in its discretion and certain other exceptions may apply.

What are the chances that they will not be able to unlock the phone even after 40 days since it is bought from samsung and not from T-mobile?

honestly is base on your luck, luck here is that, you actually talk to the specialist otherwise, you just gonna talk to some dumb people.
I bought mine from Samsung, paid in full, received it on 4/21 so it's 36 days and program tells me not eligible, called CS, told me to download the program that doesn't work, called Samsung was told to call t-mo. Such a Bu???t and how T-mo will know I paid for the phone to Samsung? I probably will download eng boot and install unlocked FW, but not sure if that's going to work, last carrier phone ever. Actually it was my fault, should have returned the phone back to Samsung first week, when they send me locked phone without the unlocking code. BTW for OP to pay $130 to unlock the phone that should be unlocked to begin with (if it was paid in full as OP said) is wrong.

Went through T-Force on Twitter and seemed to have gotten a rep on the first go who understood the situation and submitted my IMEI number to the right place. The rep needs to submit your IMEI to one of their highest level tech support engineers to be added into their "device distribution inventory system". This makes it look in their system that your phone was sold by T-Mobile and came out of their inventory. If they just try to whitelist your IMEI in the Unlock device app, that will not work. This needs to be done 100% on T-Mobiles end, Samsung will not be able to do anything, and you will want to bash your head into the wall after talking to them, totally useless.
T-Force:
That's correct. Even in attempting to "whitelist" the device, this would be unsuccessful since the phone wasn't purchased from T-Mobile. The escalation I've submitted is going to our highest tier of support, so if anyone can do it - they will be the ones. Hopefully this helps to clarify things!

There may be hope for everyone in the future, this one of the final responses I got from them:
I am right there with you. It definitely makes things harder on both sides since the phone isn't technically bought from us, even though it is branded a T-Mobile phone and our system rejects any IMEI that didn't come from our inventory. None the less, we're all about giving you full access to what is yours. Teams are currently working on a process update that'll make things a lot more seamless, but in the meantime we've got this work around! I really appreciate you taking the time to reach out to us today!

14 hours later I tried the Unlock Device app and requested the permanent unlock and it was successfully permanently SIM unlocked.
Device is fully unlocked, tested with an AT&T SIM card and everything worked fine. After 2 reboots the Device Unlock app even disappeared from my phone. I'm so happy with how fast T-Mobile dealt with this. The more people that make a stink about this issue on social media hopefully T-Mobile will find a permanent fix for people buying a SIM locked at full price and have it easily unlocked under their standard procedure.

Go though T-Force on Twitter ( https://twitter.com/TMobileHelp ) the phone reps seem to be totally clueless about this issue. It will ONLY work when your devices IMEI is added to their "device distribution inventory system" and not just whitelisted in the Unlock Device app. This makes it look to their system (and the app) that the phone was sold by them and came out of T-Mobiles inventory.
EDIT:
Got the phone unlocked, talked to them on Twitter direct messages, and after 24 hours i was able to use the Unlock APP and unlock the phone
I called T-mobile they said they can't unlock it , I have to use device on T-mobile for 40 days ,even though its fully paid off
I even asked them see if they can enter device information on " Device Distribution Center " but they said there is no possible way to do ... hmm
Oh well guess gotta wait 40 days.
Got phone unkocked !
Hi Wolfgart,
You said you had purchased this phone directly from Samsung.com or Ebay.com and not from Tmobile and then you were in Italy and not in USA but still were able to unlock it successfully, can you please share the exact steps/procedure you followed to successfully unlock our T-mobile branded Samsung S8 ? I am in the same situation as yours and would be helpful for others what you have gone through to unlock it. Thanks.
What the *&^%$# I have been "Bamboozled"

I bought my s8+ from ebay, but the guy bought it from samsung,
on the June 20, I went to the T-Mobile store on the 21 and added insurance and they're charging me 15 a month because I didn't buy it from them.
Got home and called T-Mobile to add the imei, they were gonna give me the run around and I said politely that samsung is gonna tell me to call tmo, she wait a moment and spoke to someone, and she sent the request in,
waited 3 days, and the device didn't unlock, checked the website and til today to check device status it doesn't have any info, but called T-Mobile and the rep transferred me to his supervisor, and he said he will take care of it, to wait at least 3 days for the email, and yesterday I tried the device unlocked, and it worked. Then later during the day I received the email from T-Mobile.
Be polite, and let them know u will be leaving the country, it sometimes it works, most of the time even buying from T-Mobile paying in full, they make me wait 40 days.
I also told them that is why I stopped buying from them directly,
