S7 Edge pictures Grey box - Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge Questions and Answers

Hey Guys,
I just received my S7 Edge Yesterday. I am using a 128GB Evo Sd card. Formatted it on the S7 edge.
I made some pictures with the phone. Storage : sd card.
I even looked in my galery and the pictures were oke.
After some hours i saw that some pictures were with half grey boxes and some had some crash-lookalike burns .
I formatted the sd card again. And still the same thing happens
Even did a camera reset and i did reset the S7 edge.
I dont know what the problem is. Need some help with this.

In the phone dialer type *#0*# and test the camera, including taking a photo. If the same happens again in there it's likely a hardware issue with the camera.

Have you tried a different memory card as well? The half gray is also a common problem with files writing to memory. It doesn't fully write, half they data is not there. I'd try another card too.

Might be bad sd card. Try save the picture to internal storage and see whether it did the same thing.

Thanks for the tips and advice. Ill try to save the pictures on the internal sd and see what happens.

How I fixed greyed out photo
Bring greyed out photo from gallery. Select the little icon on upper right hand side and quickly pick the photo, quickly select Capture once. If you pick more than once you get another photo on your gallery. Refresh your gallery and look for your photo. If it's okay you can no delete the old photo. Thanks

I'm having this same issue. I just got a new S7 and transferred all my photos over on my SD card. There were a few random photos that were mostly grayed out with a little bar of the original photo showing. It happened again just now with a photo I took with the S7, though the gray bar was smaller and only covering the bottom of the photo. There appears to be no way of recovering the original photo - not very happy about that. I'll try using device storage for future photos.

I'm experiencing the same issue of arbitrary half gray photos on my S7, but usually after some time goes by after they're taken. I do think it's related to some read/write issue with my SD card but I haven't exactly nailed it down yet.
A workaround is to set your camera to save photos to your device, then sync your photos to a Google Drive folder by going to "Settings" within the Google Drive menu, and turn on "Auto Add". Additionally, if device storage is at a minimum, I then suggest deleting any locally stored copies of all photos once you're satisfied they've been backed up.

Gallery issues -is it possible to store pictures on device storage with a microsd ins

I believe my issue for my gallery is a result of my sandisk microsd. I take pictures and I assume by default they are saved to the microsd because in the gallery I see a white icon on the bottom of the thumbnail.
This issue: I lose a good percentage of my pictures daily they show up black and corrupted. I assume there might be an issue with the microsd. But it stores all my docs and files that I've transferred from pc fine.
It's the pictures I take that randomly get corrupted.
I want my camera to save the pictures I take to the s5 ' internal memory not the microsd is this possible?
Thanks

Note 4 (SM-N910T) no Gallery App thumbnails, very confused

Hi everyone -
It's been a while since I've been around these parts, but I recently switched from my Note 3 to the Note 4 just a week or so ago, and having only a single issue that is perplexing me that I would be very grateful if anyone knows how to troubleshoot. I've attached a screenshot of my current hardware/firmware setup in case this is needed.
Basically, my stock Gallery app doesn't show thumbnails of anything. When I open the Gallery, I can see all the sub-sections just fine (i.e. camera, movies, gifs, pictures, etc), but can't actually see a sample thumbnail from any of those sub-sections.
If I click on one of the sub-sections (for example, Camera), I can see all the files that exist in there, but still no thumbnails. It's reading all my media files just fine, the phone is "seeing" them all.
Even weirder still is that if I click on the very first picture file in that Camera sub-category, it opens the picture just fine. HOWEVER, if I try to zoom on the picture, the screen instantly goes black. Once I zoom back out, I can see the full picture again. Try to zoom in, goes black; zoom back out, see it just fine.
I currently am running a 128gb U1 Samsung MicroSD card in the phone, and have everything saved there. But I've also tried changing the settings so the phone saves a camera shot to the internal storage and the same thing still happens (no thumbnails in the Gallery or the sub-section, and no ability to zoom on the file).
I'm lost here. I've never had this issue with my LG Chocolate, S2 or Note 3. Short of a hard reset, any ideas? The phone was brand new. Truly, any help would be greatly appreciated.
Nobody? Any ideas? Please....
First try a factory reset, if that does not fix your issue then download stock firmware from sammobile and flash it with odin. you can youtube "how to flash stock firmware with odin" to get more details.

Your photos and videos should be under Camera if taken with it, there is a little icon on the folder if it's external. Otherwise in their respective folders. The Gallery has both your internal and external medias per default (not even sure it can be changed, unless you manually hide them). I'm thinking your SD card might be bad, which would also explain the high memory notification you get on reboot. Backup what's on it to your pc or other device, format it and copy the stuff that you need/want back on it.

Do you still get the high memory notification after formatting? If so, test something: Format the sd card, put it in your phone with nothing on it and reboot to see if you get the notification. If you don't, the issue is one or a few of your files on it. If you do tho, the sd card is faulty or simply doesn't play well with the S7.

Sounds like you had a faulty device. The issue you've experienced are quite isolated. Sucks though cause it's a great device

Google Photos not deleting files from device.

I'm noticing that I'm building up Image data even though I'm deleting every picture I take off of the device once it's uploaded to the cloud. However when I check the SD card storage the pictures are still there. Thumbnails as well. Hire can I fix this?
Bueller.... Bueller?
So far I've tried deleting data from Photos camera, and media storage to no avail.
I'm thinking it might have to do with the trash holding photos for 60 days before permanently deleting.

Not sure if you've done this, but with newest version of photos, you can go into Settings and select Free Up Space and then it'll look for already uploaded photo to the cloud and remove it from your device. I do this about every 2 weeks to free up the device. I recommend cross reference the photos between app and photos.google.com to make sure. Also have NAS locally to back it up too.

Wierd New Issue - Photos Disappearing

So this has only happened twice so far (yesterday and today). But I took a photo, then I went to upload it to Facebook and it wasn't showing in the Samsung Gallery. So I went back to the Camera, and it was showing in the little preview photo in the bottom right corner, but if I clicked on that it would take me to the previous photo I took. Then if I reopened the camera, that photo didn't show up anymore in the preview pain.
The only thing I've done recently is put in a new 128 gig microsd card. Could the card be bad? or could this be a fluke (I did just reboot) so will see if it happens again.
Probably a corrupted sdcard...
Accidentally liked.
I have encountered the same. Photos in Samsung S7 disappear randomly and they all stored in SD card. I can see some filename with control code (like garbage) and change to 0 byte in File Manager (HD) but can't see them when connect the phone to PC. Suspect the disappear photos in SD card are corrupted and renamed into garbage file that's why I saw them in File Manager (HD).
Just change the default storage from SD card to Device storage to see it can resolved or not.
