Saw this phone at the Sprint store the other day and really liked the version of Android it was running. Seemed like the icons and display were more vibrant and it also had the weather inside the notification menu. Is there anyone who has ported this over to the Evo or is it even possible?

what a great thread to start my morning with
Watcha talking about willis, well the epic my young friend has a different kind of screen its called super ambled , it also has a different version of Android its called touchwiz and its designed by Samsung the phone itself its better hardware wise my girlfriend has it , but as far as I can see the evo has 10 times the support c:
lol he's not talking about touchwiz. he wants the bright screen that epic has. That's called super amoled, and is hardware based. Unless you know where to get these with custom kernels for the evo then... no

Now now... to be fair he is half right.... super amoled and 2.1
Type amoled on your evo and see what the auto correction does, and ofc I know sense is a user interface same as touchwiz, but I'm trying to educate a noob if I explain it the way you expect me to explain it, he would be in the same boat as he was before h started this thread, and yeah its not a different version of Android ofc, but hey if I made your day good for you. So happy I could start everyone's day off with such humor. Guess I shoulda lurked in the shadows and searched it when I left work but was curious. Thanks for the replies and info. I mainly wanted something similar to the notification bar with toggles and weather but knew there was something different about the display. Anyway, thanks for the info...

that might be coming in cm6
If I understand this correctly, there's a downside to superamoled's color vibrancy - incorrect color reproduction.

My wife has the Epic 4G and I cant use that phone for more than 5mins or so. If I do my Evo looks so crappy and washed out. I agree, that screen is gorgeous (color reproduction faults and all.)
The closest you can get on the EVO is Myn's ROM http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=793471
Install that and turn the brightness up.
This thread made my day! Thank you!
And yeah, no one will port touch wiz. Try an alternative home on the market, there are a few good ones mentioned above

I would love to see that on my Atrix. Look at how fast it made that Droid!.

Yeah motoblur up until that sucks. This actually looks decent and seems quick.
I still have a Droid X my kids use for watching videos and playing games and I had to do a bunch of stuff to get gingerbread on it. Once done, Gingerbread is a well polished machine by comparison to previous versions. It adds the LITTLE THINGS that iPhone users tend to enjoy. I liked it and give it a big thumbs up.
my motoblur work like that...but......and with live wallpaper??? still fast or like a cheat?

Wow... Can't wait for this. Blurified gingerbread seems nice. A lot better than the ugly stock theme from 2.1/2.2.
Made that DX scream.
:O i want it!
i made that Droid X fast on a single core processor imagine on our dual core!
i got to say one thing tho. the dock was kind of motoblurs trade mark. its 3 little green white and blue icons, now gone...
OH WELL LET ME HAVE THAT 2.3 MOTOBLUR!
lol

I didnt post what you quoted so I cant speak for him but I will elaborate, slightly. I have gingerbread CM7 on the Captivate and there are several things I like about it.
First and formost, and this is petty, the screen does the "crt monitor" screen on/off effect animation thingy. Its superficial, but awesome. There are several other interface changes that are an improvement imo.
Secondly, native wifi internet calling via SIP. It still takes some setting up and know how but you only have to read to learn.
Of course there are "speed" improvement like always.
Theres a Download (manager) app.
Finally, security. You probably read about that already.
Better true this time The wait has been too long.... Can't wait....
The HTC One Android 4.2 official update has once again been confirmed by the company without a specific release time frame being provided. Earlier this month we reported that HTC Russia had confirmed availability of Android 4.2.2 for HTC One in mid-June, but the update itself is yet to drop. Recently Three UK, one of the carrier partners across the pond that offers HTC’s latest flagship, recently replied to a customer’s query on Twitter revealing that HTC had “just pulled” the 4.2.2 release. This indicates that a June launch of this update was definitely on the cards, with Engadget reporting that HTC has confirmed to them that the update is indeed coming soon, but customers might have to wait a bit longer. HTC One ships with Android 4.1 pre-installed, whereas its main rival the Galaxy S4 ships with Android 4.2. Some features expected in the HTC One Android 4.2 official update have already been detailed, but the company itself hasn’t confirmed exactly what improvements this update will bring. Like everyone else, we’ll keep waiting patiently for this update, and will let you know as soon as it drops.... Read more at: http://www.ubergizmo.com/2013/06/htc-one-android-4-2-official-update/

Does it really matter? I mean, the M7 is already set up better than the S4 with its 4.2 config... I honestly don't think it needs anything at all in terms of added software features, just some finishing touches (and softkey related updates to everyone who is still waiting for it).

Pull down native notification for wireless toggle, etc and the most important home button can set as menu. :good:

Yea, I suppose both of those are good things. Even though you can get to the wireless/wifi toggles one click from pull down menu... or one touch on a toggle bar from home screen. the home button menu could be good? not sure what other menus are needed...
(Jags, what? I'm not complaining about updating... who doesn't like new things for free?)

I don't have any of these issues... my home button brings up the apps drawer if I hit it in default screen, and brings up the search function if I hold it down... thanks to Nova launcher, which is free. It almost looks vanilla in my config except with black bars being transparent, and the app drawer half transparent, and nicer hand-picked icons with no text on homescreen

people like you, all you do is want want want and nothing else. release the kernel source faster for better development? or for your selfish wants.
ever thought about others? them working for free just for your selfish needs.
why dont u do something good with the kernel source instead of throwing all the work to other people then leech on it like a damn parasite and moan when it's updated slower than other masterpieces
and then says stuff like "oh im gonna jump to plastic if my selfish need isnt fulfilled"

everybody pays a premium for gadgets. not just a phone alone.
and it's already performing currently, there's no need to rush things.
good things come to those who wait.
if everything u paid for deserves to be updated quickly because "it costs like a premium item" , then you're wrong.
it's like saying i paid a premium for my ac router, i deserve faster firmware updates to speed the damn thing up
and they have no obligations to comply with the open source license. only google does that.
nowadays with all the patent ****storms, nobody really cared about open source anymore. they want everything to themselves

HTC generally is pretty fast, sometimes a few weeks slower than samsung, sometimes a few weeks faster with updates. I installed the 4.2.2 update but immediately I noticed my bottom speaker started popping and the animation in the pull down menu was jittery and when opening the app drawer I first saw a grid of 4x2 icons before showing my 5x4 grid. These were just the bugs I noticed in the first minutes of installing. HTC were right in pulling that update. JB 4.2 itself doesn' t offer a lot either for phones. The one thing I really want from 4.2 is the fix for the msm_hsic_host suspend bug, but most people seem to be unaffected by this wakelock anyway.

With 4.2.2 on the ONE 2013 Flagship phone, everything AWESOME. As Samsung S4 come preloaded. Just that the smartphone battle has becoming more tough. At least HTC can speed up a little bit :fingers-crossed:
Most importantly for me is the 3 dot black menu bar remove and pull down notification wireless etc toggle menu.

My wife owns the s4 and trust me, I wish they would have taken more time working out the bugs. She's Constantly complaining about little things not working, and I'm always having to clear cache on apps, rebooting her phone and what not to fix it.

Thanks, nah it isn't hard, didn't know of the manual being out there like that.
Samsung comes kinda close to Active Display with a feature called Smart Alerts. If new notifications have come in since the last time you picked up your phone, it will vibrate when you pick it up. Not really the same thing, but the intention is in the same ballpark.
As we all getting the devices today in UK thought id make a thread for us .
First question i wanted to ask was in some video on youtube ive seen yahoo on apps edge cant seem to find it in uk model only cnn. Looked in galaxy store as well.
Got mine today.
Checked and cannot see Yahoo on apps edge
Was so excited about mine being delivered by o2 via ukmail. But it would appear they wouldn't leave it in my safe place opposite the front door (even though the delivery guy could have closed the padlock) so I've been forced to reschedule it even though the same thing is going to happen tomorrow. So so annoying!!
Im personally coming from the 6p which was a much bigger phone. I am liking the s7 edge only thing is getting use to picking it up from my desk too slippy will have to put a case on it and hopefully root soon .
I'm still waiting for mine to come, but I was wondering if the Yahoo app would be on it, is there something in its place or is it just missing all together
