Better true this time The wait has been too long.... Can't wait....
The HTC One Android 4.2 official update has once again been confirmed by the company without a specific release time frame being provided. Earlier this month we reported that HTC Russia had confirmed availability of Android 4.2.2 for HTC One in mid-June, but the update itself is yet to drop. Recently Three UK, one of the carrier partners across the pond that offers HTC’s latest flagship, recently replied to a customer’s query on Twitter revealing that HTC had “just pulled” the 4.2.2 release. This indicates that a June launch of this update was definitely on the cards, with Engadget reporting that HTC has confirmed to them that the update is indeed coming soon, but customers might have to wait a bit longer. HTC One ships with Android 4.1 pre-installed, whereas its main rival the Galaxy S4 ships with Android 4.2. Some features expected in the HTC One Android 4.2 official update have already been detailed, but the company itself hasn’t confirmed exactly what improvements this update will bring. Like everyone else, we’ll keep waiting patiently for this update, and will let you know as soon as it drops.... Read more at: http://www.ubergizmo.com/2013/06/htc-one-android-4-2-official-update/

Does it really matter? I mean, the M7 is already set up better than the S4 with its 4.2 config... I honestly don't think it needs anything at all in terms of added software features, just some finishing touches (and softkey related updates to everyone who is still waiting for it).

Pull down native notification for wireless toggle, etc and the most important home button can set as menu. :good:

Yea, I suppose both of those are good things. Even though you can get to the wireless/wifi toggles one click from pull down menu... or one touch on a toggle bar from home screen. the home button menu could be good? not sure what other menus are needed...
(Jags, what? I'm not complaining about updating... who doesn't like new things for free?)

Yes I want the black bar gone.

I don't have any of these issues... my home button brings up the apps drawer if I hit it in default screen, and brings up the search function if I hold it down... thanks to Nova launcher, which is free. It almost looks vanilla in my config except with black bars being transparent, and the app drawer half transparent, and nicer hand-picked icons with no text on homescreen
Just wish they release the goddamn kernel source. I swear someday I will leave my beloved HTC for the plastic, just for better developement, if this kind of delay persists.

people like you, all you do is want want want and nothing else. release the kernel source faster for better development? or for your selfish wants.
ever thought about others? them working for free just for your selfish needs.
why dont u do something good with the kernel source instead of throwing all the work to other people then leech on it like a damn parasite and moan when it's updated slower than other masterpieces
and then says stuff like "oh im gonna jump to plastic if my selfish need isnt fulfilled"

everybody pays a premium for gadgets. not just a phone alone.
and it's already performing currently, there's no need to rush things.
good things come to those who wait.
if everything u paid for deserves to be updated quickly because "it costs like a premium item" , then you're wrong.
it's like saying i paid a premium for my ac router, i deserve faster firmware updates to speed the damn thing up
and they have no obligations to comply with the open source license. only google does that.
nowadays with all the patent ****storms, nobody really cared about open source anymore. they want everything to themselves

HTC generally is pretty fast, sometimes a few weeks slower than samsung, sometimes a few weeks faster with updates. I installed the 4.2.2 update but immediately I noticed my bottom speaker started popping and the animation in the pull down menu was jittery and when opening the app drawer I first saw a grid of 4x2 icons before showing my 5x4 grid. These were just the bugs I noticed in the first minutes of installing. HTC were right in pulling that update. JB 4.2 itself doesn' t offer a lot either for phones. The one thing I really want from 4.2 is the fix for the msm_hsic_host suspend bug, but most people seem to be unaffected by this wakelock anyway.

With 4.2.2 on the ONE 2013 Flagship phone, everything AWESOME. As Samsung S4 come preloaded. Just that the smartphone battle has becoming more tough. At least HTC can speed up a little bit :fingers-crossed:
Most importantly for me is the 3 dot black menu bar remove and pull down notification wireless etc toggle menu.

I've been following the progress of the Cyanogenmod development for the Vibrant lately and it seems to be moving pretty quickly, i.e. there already booting into the main UI, I believe. Anyway, I'm still wondering if anyone out there has even a rough estimate of when it will be available for the Vibrant? Thanks in advance.

Some time in the near, or distant future. One of Cyanogens pet peeves are people asking when it will be there whenever they are able to get it done. All of the dev's have loved ones, jobs etc. We can give estimates all day long ranging from early September to late October/November. Sadly the only ones that do know would be Wes.

I obviously care, and I would like it soon, but I'm not going to hound Wes or any other devs about it, and I don't think posting a question in a thread counts. I'm not a dev and I can't code, so the best I can do is beta/alpha test, and if no one helps me that's perfectly fine.

What draws you to the UI? cause ADW has the sides scrolling option that TW does but you can use themes and such.
Ive seen the adw drawer. It is very similar and I like the convience of the scrolling bottom on the home screen. But im not too sure of stability. I heavily modded my g1. And from time to time I would get force closes. Im trying to minimize the mods on this phone. The adw drawer is not bad. But right now its not something I want on the phone
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
The TW drawer is nice, on my phone ADW doesn't load right. When I first go to the tray it gets stuck in a loop where it keeps wanting to load the tray it just can't. After about 5 tries it usually loads. The stock icon's look better than the adw galaxy s theme, and even when I say use stock icons it doesn't use the phones stock icons.
aawww, I missed a flame war.
What's a good flame without little old me?
lol jp
I like TW too.
I like some of the samsung apps over the stock ones.
I'm not as interested in CM6 as I am in Froyo Period.
I would like to see a sense rom, but i doubt that will happen.

Hi Everyone
The Engadget show, demo'd some great UI's from TAT using 3D on a desire!
Take a look:

or direct on youtube:
3D Map UI: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=InBOO8jrnM0
could be a real possibility! Hope its gets leaked!

The clip from Engadget is much better, the host even jokes about the apk file
OH MY LIFE!
Been waiting on news from TAT for months. Glad to see it working on the Desire. Doubt itll leak though, theyve been testing for a year or so and no one has dropped anything. Dont wven know if any testers had posted anything about it.

Well, if we can generated a lot of interest, we might see some movement from TAT!

would happily kill people to get this.
I'm sure someone would be able to "acquire" this, seeing as the people here have repeatedly performed the impossible, and done nothing short of miracles

They have apparently released a few TAT home beta "previews"
"Why wasn't I part of the UX Preview?
We were completely overwhelmed by the number of people who signed up. To keep things under control and take care of feedback in a good way, we could send the preview out to only a few of the 60,000 who offered to participate."
http://tat.se/home/
Surely someone would of leaked it, but heh.
EDIT: It seems like the UI is a "for sale" basis to vendors who want a custom UI. So no marketplace apk, maybe a flashable zip, but chances are, it's going to be like sense. A major annoyance

This + This + This = Hard to get excited about a stock ROM that packs in more bloat.
As a side personal note, I've been furiously working on a revamped Gingerbread theme so I'm ready and anxiously waiting.

and noone even knows where that came from for sure.

That's what some people like to call consensus.
..and slurping CM? I slurp no man. If I wanted to I'd just buy a Nexus S or just get some of my developers to port it for me - but having someone like CM (and the other developers) is just a bit more convenient and non-stupid.
...and with that I exit this thread.

oh no I owned an iphone for 2 years! Say you what you will but there's something to be said about a phone that doesn't need a firmware update every month or to be plugged in every 12 hours......
Don't get me wrong I love my Evo, I just wish it was as trusty as every other phone I've ever owned. In fact, I would go as far to say that technically the Evo is the most unreliable phone I've ever had. There's no way I'd turn my parents loose with one. It's the price you pay for technology though. It's strange to realize that the Evo is more powerful than my eeePC, runs longer on battery, and fits in my pocket. What an age we live in.
However, I had to cook my own rom just to get this thing "usable" in my book. With the iPhone it was just jailbreak and go....

So why are u here? Not that I care just tired of reading how ****ty the Evo is but people still got rid of their other phones for it. I'm sorry what rom did you cook? I still don't c it so it must not be anything special. Let me guess, you don't feel like releasing it?

I just installed this software update, it really is just a bunch of bloatware. Is there a way to uninstall it?

Is there some way to get the version of Swype from the new update and install it as a stand alone? I am a beta tester but would like a released version.

Guys, pls wait till may 15th, i mean this coming sunday.... u all will remember that day in the future for something adventurous, developmental in the history of SGS2 custom ROMs....
simply put, DocRambone is releasing his first custom ROM for the SGS2 community, he is already working on it. this source code release will definitely speed up his quality release..... just give him some more time.....
good luck DocRambone.....

Tbh, i wasnt asking about a custom rom. I merely posted the link. I hadn't seen that it was already posted in the Dev section. So please calm down, no one was nagging for custom roms. I do concur though: good luck to all the devs.
@EleCtrOx666, I only posted the link for informational purposes, I wasnt asking or offering help re the source code. Hence my confusion as per your original comment. Yes I edited my comment, so that more people wouldnt be 'confused'.
To be honest after spending nearly a week with this phone, I'm thinking "do we need custom roms for this phone?"
Seriously think about it. Those of you who own this device, it is blazing fast already.
The only customised flashing I will be doing I think will be relating to the improvement of battery life and performance, that's it.
This phone rocks from the box.

Not tried the phone, but I can see a few things needing sorted. A few restrictions samsung put in place in apps that are needing removed. Example being today's fix for the "OMFG I finished charging!" alert More to come, if O2 would get their act together.

Respectfully, I don't think all that many people are concerned by the finished charging sound. It's a nice mod, but most people wouldn't bother with it unless it was part of a bigger set of mods.
The main stuff that would interest most people with this device is mods that increase battery life even further, as well as kernel tweaks like BLN. So more kernel mods than rom mods, I think.
It's hard to believe that you'd ever choose Touchwizz over stock/CM.. until you actually get the device in your hand and see just how well it works. Unlike the latest Sense, it's not in-your-face and the extra functionality is well placed.
I'm sure we can find tons of nice stuff to tweak as time goes by, but I think unlike most Android devices out right now, many hardcore users are actually going to be pretty happy with TW4. It's a bit odd really, coming from the SGS1 where you had to mod the thing or go insane.

DocRambone's ROM stuff doesn't need the kernel sources, afaik. He's going to be tweaking up and releasing an awesome "light" version with a lot of the extras removed - but that is all /system tweaks, not kernel.
Kernel tweaks will likely take longer, and probably come from the direction of supercurio - and the ROM builders will definitely be including that stuff in their ROMs, but it probably won't affect DocRambone's ROMs yet.
As to the kernel sources themselves.. the download link is SO SLOW! 10k/s!

Lol well if the complainers have their phone on silent and have vibration mode only when not in wouldn't then its fine.
Actually regarding alarms I'd love to have phone off and reboot when alarm rings in the morning like Nokia N-series do. Saves battery life span too.

Totally agree with Ryan. I hated TW on my sgs and even with the previews of TW4 before I bought a sgs II, I thought I was going to stick with launcher pro. But now with enhanced editing options I'm loving TW more than ever.
Thinking about it with Android I've actually never been so happy with stock

Well I completely agree. I don't think I'm going to flash a custom ROM, maybe just a kernel to gain root access.

+1 I use Adw on my tab, but the SgS2 doesnt need it. Feels mad, I know improvements can and will be made, but unlike some other phones I've had, it's not glaringly obvious as to where the improvements should be made. Best phone ever.

Well, it corresponds with the previously obtained "leaked" photos. It does some things I haven't seen any other roms do as of yet. But, I would assume all easily doable if your a developer and wanted to mess with people.
Than again if I wasn't except so much from it I'd think it was it. But since It's kind of disappointing in the first place I don't want to believe it. But, I would assume there are much more background upgrades and new features not shown there that it would make it exceptional and that much better.

I sure hope so.... I'm not digging the neon light blue though..... to me it seems kind of nauseating, I would of hoped they would of gone with more of the Honeycomb dark blue color.
The guy was almost stopping himself from doing certain things for fear he revealed more then he should have. It may be fake but it would take a lot of work to do so.
Also it looked like en early build but had the same radio as the update I got yesterday.
The nexus lwp didn't really work either it looked **** if I'm honest.
Google employee I think. Ebay my ass. Ha.

the guy supposedly has the phone in his hand, how hard sould be to make a nandroid and release to us all? but in the other hand, if this is a rom i'm really impressed...

I still lean more towards it being a custom rom someone conjured up. And even if it's not ICS; nor, do I wish it to be (Again the background changes would have to be intense for me to not feel dogged completely) I would love to get my hands on that "rom" and mess with it.
Just tell us it's fake already and let us play with the rom!
Cool features but CM like color scheme. Pull down notification looks cheap too.

The pop up menus with the blue ora look a lot like upwardspiral's theme chooser themes for CM7.
Has anyone noticed the Movie Studio icon? As far as I know this app is only available on Honeycomb at the moment. Two possibilities:
- It's real and the Movie Studio works on phones
- It's a custom ROM and there's just a useless icon for an app that doesn't exist
The first one seems more likely to me. Also, there's the panorama feature in the camera app, which was rumored before.
Custom ROM my ass. **** just got real!
Fake.. and ofc its the same as leaked pictures and 4chan.all from the same guy... this so called ice is using samsung and froyo icons..

Doesn't seem fake. IceAndFire ROM, for example, has the ICS launcher by Syndicate Apps.
This video shows a lock screen, a different app drawer, a different notification bar. Just like on my Honeycomb tab. Seems like real ICS.
