I saw that I had that too. Looked and looked and it appears to be from "com.gsamlabs.bbm". I just upgraded from GSam free to pro last night and it looks like this may be leftover from the free. Don't really know for sure. I didn't remove the free version before the upgrade to pro. What I'm trying is, removing pro, reinstalling free, then properly removing the free, then going back with the pro. That may get rid of what was left over from the free. I'll follow up after this "test" is complete.

Charged overnight, unplugged for 3 hours, no recurrence yet of 10198.

battery time just fell off

without doing anything new my battery time just droped off the face of the earth.. its down about 75%. i was getting a full day mixed use now all of a suden im getting 6-8 hours with just a few phone calls.
my awake time is at 16%
I havent done anything new that i can think of.
im using (and have been for awhile) the mugen 1800 extended battery.
trying to think what might be doing it and cant come up with anything i havnt found in the forums already.
you probably downloaded some app that is running in the background continuously. check with a task manager to see what's running, and then try uninstalling some recent apps to test it out.
thats what i was thinking but i cant find anything new running with the task manager

Could just be a bad battery? I'm having same problem, maybe worse with stock battery. I went from 100% down to 15 in like 5 hours just reading my RSS feeds every hour or so. I think I may have fried my battery using it to tether for excessively long periods.
You're not using your phone to tether are you?
Mine is way down this week too. Initially I thought it was Swype, but not so sure anymore because no other users are reporting problems.
Are you using Modaco's rom and kernel ? or any new kernel for that matter? Ever since I switched kernels my battery hasn't made it through the day.

I'm using gbhil's custom kernel and seeing BETTER battery life when used with setCPU (using ondemand setting with 'standby/sleep' profile turned on, and set to 160/480).

No I'm not.. Turned a few more newer apps off and still no good today.. I was at 5% batt left after 9 hours with about 10 minutes web browsing (not wifi) 4 or 5 text messages and about 45 minutes talk time. That's down about 90% from were I was a week ago .
I managed to narrow my problem down to the Taskiller widget. Removed the widget (still running the app full time) and all is well.
Last night I rolled back to before I used a custom Kernel. I rather battery life over speed. I need my phone to last from 6am to at the very least 7pm. I think once people get over the performance boost, we'll see a lot more posts relating to battery issues.

might be that too, i hope not as i love that keyboard. just having it installed shouldn't drain the battery, should it? im on day 2 with the custom kernel and i too noticed more battery drain. at 1pm my hero was fully charged. i only played a bit with the phone and made two short calls and it's down to 86% already at 4pm. i want to roll back but i do like the speed of the new kernel. ill see how it does tonight.

I decided to uninstall swype and I went from not being able to go a 5 hr shift to today working an 8 hours right now and I should still have little over half battery.

Yeah going back to regular input sucks. Swype was only some leaked beta version, we don't really have right to complain; however, I bet their end product will be much better. I just hope they'll release it as an app and not as part of custom Android phone so we can get it sooner.
figured I woud resurect this thread rather than start a new one.
yesterday I decided to RUU my phone to pull the completely stock apks out of it. after I did that I restored my backup of fresh 1.1 with gbhils kernel and now I am at 90% awake time spare parts shows that "android system" as something keeping it awake. any suggestions on what this could be? could it have something to do with restoring the back up with the kernel over stock without a wipe?

!!!!Battery Saver Fix?

I'm running Beta 3 Rom rooted ROM. I accidentally hit fix permissions in ROM Manager app and now my battery is seriously lasting about 7 hours longer with the same usage and no tinkering. Also I'm getting less forced closes overall. Not sure why ... and I'm not sure if doing this is very dangerous and leaves me vulnerable going forward. Anyone know if this makes any sense? What does fix permissions do in Rom Manager? Is this a fluke? Try at your own risk ... I'm just not sure. If anyone knows of a possible explanation or is brave enough to try it ****AT POTENTIALLY GREAT RISK *** post your results here. BE CAREFUL ... BE CAREFUL ... BE CAREFUL.
Im trying it .. we see what happens.

How much total battery life were you getting before and after the fix?
I'm running attn1's rom and I get excellent battery life, like literally 1.5-2 full days of average use before it goes down to 0.

Can you reverse this if you wanted to?
i dont think you can reverse it.
i would reccomend a nandroid backup before you do this.

Quick question, if I needed to wipe to restore settings from a nandroid backup. Would I get everything as it previously was, latest rom installed, with all my apps?

I believe nandroid is a full backup, almost like an image. So if you needed to recover it it should restore your phone to how it was when you ran nandroid.
When you restore a nandroid backup everything returns to exactly how it was when you did the backup, I.e.homescreen, unread texts, notifications, settings apps and all.

Which Rom manager did you use? I got one from the market and installed it. When I attempted to fix permissions, it did nothing. BTW my Aria is rooted and has sideload capabilities. Thanks.
assuming this does work anyone have a theory on why?
Quick question guys. How long does your phone take to fully charge? I've had my phone today from 8am to 7pm
Plugged it in and after being plugged in for about an hour and fourty min. It says it is at 100% but the light is still red. I did repair permissions and rebooted I'll see if it helps tomorrow.

How do you guys do the fix permissions thing? I have the liberated Rom and my battery only last like 7 hours
Sent from my HTC Liberty using XDA App
you have to use Rom Manager, download it from the market. you have to have clockwork recovery installed also. Now 7 hours for battery life, is that under heavy, moderate or light use? if thats under heavy use thats not bad at all. also depends on what widgets your using and how your phone syncs, updates weather etc. theres alot you can do to optimize battery life without the permission fix, if it even works?.

it depends on if im using my phone while its charging, it can take anywhere from 1-3 hours, or more if it gets hot and stops charging. and what percent did you start charging your phone at? from like 15% to a full charge without using my phone, itll take approximately about an hour and a half

It was 15% and it took ~2 hours to reach 100% and turn the led green. so i basically got 11 hours with medium heavy use which is pretty good.

General Battery tips.
Remember you are running a lithium ion battery, that means it is important to get a full charge on the first charge, and also charge it as often as possible. Letting it often get to the critical state can have long term negative effects on battery life. Such is the limit of our battery tech.
Optimize how many apps you have running, use advanced task killer etc. I also heavily recommend that you change how often your phone looks for updates, facebook notifications etc.
Turn gps on only when you need it.
Ditto for wireless.
I let my phone auto the brightness of the screen.
I generally get 2-3 days battery life, I talk for approx 1 hr a day. I watch videos/ play emulators for 1hr a day and I frequently text, update calendar information, and setup checklists.
As far as permissions go, chances are if you declined on many of them, some of your apps can no longer check for updates etc. So you are suddenly getting the battery life I get by making sure my apps are always dead unless I need them.
Also remember, many apps turn on automatically when you restart your phone, so run the app killer when you boot.
Good luck.

Terrible battery life

Hello everyone, i purchased my Nexus 7 and it arrived in the mail 3 days ago. And as with every other Android device ive ever owned, the batter is absolutely terrible. I get about 2hrs on screen time when browing the web and maybe playing an occasional game. Does anyone have any idea whats going on? Or have any way to help? Thanks so much
That is pretty bad. Try a factory reset. Might be something you installed.
I'd hate to do a factory reset cause I just barely got it set up but..I'll try it anyway tonight

Doing a factory reset before installing anything is becoming the gold standard.
Hope it helps you.
I get between 7-9 hours of active use. Sounds like some process is running amok on yours. I didn't factory reset when I bought it either....though I have rooted it since then, but battery life is about the same pre and post root.
You might want to consider a program to monitor battery use to see what's eating it up. Maybe do that before you factory reset it so you don't install the same thing again.

System panel is a good app to find what's using your CPU and better batterystats can help find what's keeping your phone from going to deep sleep. An easy way to see if this is the case is go into battery setting and select the first option(history details). Compare the Awake bar with the screen on bar. Those two should be nearly identical if not then you have a rogue app.

have you flashed any kernels or roms? sometimes this makes the tablet report the wrong battery stats for a bit.
did you run the battery down until it turns off and then give it a full charge? sometimes you have more juice than what is being reported. ive been stuck at 1-2% for over an hour before. Most likely its a rogue app though, system panel and better batterystats should find out what app it is. if they dont then it could be that you have a defective battery...
Been on mine continuously for 3 hrs 18 mins and at 60%. Excellent if you ask me. Next step up in battery life would be Transformer series with dock.

Quite the opposite for me; unlike every other Android device I've had (Nexus One, GS2) the battery life is excellent. I watched 720p mkv video on the train yesterday for a good 3 hours, and still had ~70% by the time I got home, from a full charge.
The battery life is excellent, as far as I'm concerned.

Don't think you needed to calibrate the battery to begin with. I usually get fine battery life without doing anything special.
Something must be causing the poor battery on your Nexus, Yesterday after my N7 was fully charged, I watched the movie Thor for 1hr and 54 minutes n and my battery only dropped to 83%.
I'm at 16 hours and 52 minutes with 3 hours and 44 minutes of on screen time, the battery is at 51%

My N7 is completely stock and has never been rooted. I also did do a couple charge cycles which didn't seem to help much. And better batterystats has AudioOut_2 at 38% (while I'm playing music) but other than that it doesn't seem to be a rogue app

Unless you listen to music for over 5 hours or streaming the songs it shouldnt use that much battery. If you can't find a wakelock with better battery stats then it might just be a bad unit.

Battery questions

Not sure why, but Android system is using more than 30% of my battery, thus battery life doesn't seem to be the great. I'm thinking I gotta give it more time considering I've only had the phone since Thursday. But was curious if anyone else is seeing the same thing. I've installed GSam Battery Monitor to see if I can figure this out. However I'm not entirely sure how to use the app. It's showing the same thing, Android system is using a lot of battery. Not sure how to tell if I have an app causing issues. Anyone have any ideas?

I did a search on replacement batteries and it $43 for one, the cheapest I can find. I just wrote the seller
Originally it was advertised as a 32gb tablet 3 years old.
I got it it was a 16gb unit.
He gave me back money because he thought it was a 32gb. Now the battery issue so now I want to return it and evaluate if I should buy another one at 32gb or one that's 10 inch and a little newer unit that's Rootable and Romable. Just got to figure out which ones are

I got a used Nexus 10 yesterday and was using it (without charging). Battery was around 40% and then all of a sudden, i got "Shutting down".
When i plugged the charger in, i got the message "Android is upgrading apps"
Does this mean my battery is finished and I need to order a replacement?
Can anyone recommend a good battery from ebay that will deliver to the UK?

Yes same happened to me at 80% means the battery is going dead at 40%. Make sure you get a battery that says OEm or Original Manufacturer and make sure it says samsung on it.
I got one from ebay and they put a label on the word Samsung. their reasoning is so they don't have to pay dutys on import since they are made in china. So if they happens don't get nuts over it. just make sure all the marking of your original battery are like the replacement and you should be good. I'm nuts for OEM Don't like the cheap knock offs. Good luck

I used the tablet (fully charged) for about 1.5 hours last night. Batter got down to 67% but it was ok.
If i can get 2 or so hours then I might just live with it. I only use my tablet on my table (do screenrecording), so i dont need to carry it around.
Please keep us posted if you buy it and how you found it. I will also let you know if I end up getting it.
Install Pure Nexus ROM. I never get any battery shut down problems since installing this ROM and my battery is from 2012. Before it used to shut down at 30% quite regularly.
Plus your tablet will run a lot better.
