Hello guys. I am stumped and hope yall can assist me.... ok... I purchased a Note 3 from my neighbor. The phone is in perfect shape. After buying the phone, I went into recovery and factory reset that way since I feel it to be more comprehensive.
After that process completed, I started installing apps. Well, that was the plan. After watchESPN took about 5 mins to install, I downloaded both FCC Speed test and Ookla Speed Test. On both, my max speed was 0.50mbps down and 12.5mbps up. First that was strange. Higher up speed than down? Then I decided to drop the LTE, and test again with a 4G only signal. This provided much better results. I was getting 7mbps down and 3mbps up. This made much more sense as far as down being faster than up, but why in the world would this Note 3 get better speeds on 4G than LTE? I am on T-Mobile. The note 3 is a T-Mobile branded phone... I don't understand. It's stumped me, so I post here. To ask other like minded individuals...

I get about 2-3mbps at home.....so about 5 minutes from my home i wanted to show my friend how fast my data is vs his Sprint.....well my 3G crapped out at around 200-300kbps and his Sprint was in 5-6mbps range.....this is the second time now Tmobile data does this to me. The other time my friend was streaming 128kbps music on ATT iPhone while I had GPRS with pretty much non-working data connection....< this was 1 year ago, and exactly the same this year !
Spotty network connection. Happens to me all the time.
Yeah that sucks. I always read about other people getting 4-6mbs on their vibrants. In my town I only get 1-2.5mbs on 3g, in the town next to me I can get 3mbs. If I want real speed I just stay home and get 14mbs on my wifi network.

This happens to the best of us. I tried a speedtest with vs a dude who was all proud of his Evo using 4G and i beat him in my office 4Mbs vs 3Mbs. It just all depends on where you're at and how congested the network is. If it makes you feel any better, my Vibrant can smoke my Droid X 90 percent of the time.

Networks vary. This shouldn't be a surprise. Each tower is different. Different loads. Different backhauls.
2 days ago I had a friend over with his iPhone4, and I was telling him about Nero v3 on my Vibrant, and the subject of speed tests came up. So he pulls up his speedtest.net app, and happily shows me a 2.5mbps test, with 220ms ping. I'm like "hey, not bad", then I pull out my Vibrant and run a test: 4.4mbps, 84ms ping.
It only went slow because you were trying to one-up your friend.
Ive been getting edge like speed on my vibrant ever since thanksgiving day. It sometimes gets to 3g.
I finally rang up tmobile support and apparently its becuase theres a network problem with the towers....so, in 72 hours, it should be fixed by the engineers.
Before the slow speed I was getting constant 1500-2000kbps, now I am struggling to get over 100kbps, almost dial up speed
Verizon 4G LTE 22 megabits/sec download. What the heck???????????????????????????????
I am simply speachless at how fast Verizon wireless 4G LTE is.
So my friend is getting a new phone and we go on a shopping adventure. Verizon, At&t and T-Mobile all 3 stores accross the street from one another.
All 3 stores are located in Los Angeles in a verified 4G area.
We ran a little experiment, hitting up 4G phones and running speedtest. We ran speedtest a few times, and the below are average max scores
Verizon HTC Thunderbolt 20-22 mbps download every single time, and 35mbps upload
At&t Motorola Atrix 4G Max download 0.36mbps What the heck? That doesn't even count as 3G I don't think
T-Mobile Vibrant 4G Max download about 1.5mbps. Still not 4G in my opinion
My personal T-Mobile Vibrant 3G max download about 3mbps. For some reason my Vibrant 3G had faster downloads thant the Vibrant 4G every single time, and we ran the test like 10 times.
So At&t was just simply a joke. T-Mobile was more acceptable, but still not 4G speeds, and I have no clue why my 3G Vibrant outperformed the 4G Vibrant. So we ran the test on the HTC G2 4G, again faster speeds on my Vibrant 3G. Doesn't make sense.
Now, Verizon 4G LTE 22 mbps download, 35 mbps upload. NO I AM NOT KIDDING.
He ends up getting the Thunderbolt, driving around LA all day yesterday, not one single spot did the Thunderbolt go below 18mbps download, and was consistantly getting over 25mbps upload.
I am amazed, now THAT IS 4G!
Are those speeds real or is the phone reporting incorrectly? He is even getting almost 40 mbps upload sometimes. Seriously? Tell me thats just a software issue giving false speeds, because that is almost not believable!
Before i even bought this phone i called att and asked point blank if i bought this phone would faster data speeds? The person "said" she looked at a map and said i was in hspda coverage speeds area. So i bought the attic about 10 days ago and since then I have gotten horrible data download speeds. I talked to att and even went into the store again asking about their supposed hspda/ higher data speed network, and got every response from " yourselves need to change to a 4g sim card", to "there is no point at all to buy a hspda/4g phone right no matter where you are". But iam getting pretty much the same data speeds as my tilt2. So the last time I went to the store they said that only the 4g phones, inspire, iphone 4, and the attic could get the higher hspda/4g data speeds, so I thought maybe it is guess worth it if later I will get higer data speeds, because it is a pretty nice phone, ill give it that. But I aS looking at the specs of the htc tilt 2, and it says it also supports HSPDA speeds. I think now I have pretty much heard every lie att can tell someone.!

Spell check would have made that easier to read.
I agree... I had a hard time trying to understand the OP...
That said, keep in mind that there are many factors that affect DL speeds... your location, the time of day, the alignment of Jupiter and Mars (LOL), etc... Also there is another post where ATT admits to having the HSUPA disabled right now and that they will turn it on in the future, whatever that means... Taking that into account, perhaps you're in an area where they are still attempting to upgrade HSDPA speeds and haven't even started the backhaul crap. I dunno.
If you aren't happy with the phone send it back before it's too late. If you are happy with it EXCEPT the DL speed, maybe its the phone... Do you have an ATT store you can go to and compare your unit with a display unit to determine? Take all this with a grain of salt; I'm usually full of it. Good luck.

My friend just purchased the new killer device Thunderstorm by Verizon with the new LTE Network. He brought it by my house and we had to compare speed test results. I am using the Nexus One rooted on T-Mobile in the HSPA+ area. He was bragging how freaken fast his new phone was and I was getting pissed off..
Test Results
Nexus One T-Mobile HSPA+ DL 5333mb UL 1350mb
Thunderstorm LTE DL 13,222 UL 26,000
His speed tests obviously blew my Nexus One away as far as the #'s were concerned but this is where the two phones are different. We both went to Android Central.com and left the Flash running on both devices and cleared the Cache on both devices and downloaded the pages at the same time..My Nexus One was faster by 5 seconds. We went to other web pages and every web page we went to I was always much faster rendering the page. Don't know why or what reason but my good old faithful Nexus One kicked ass. I will tell you I felt like a proud daddy, crazy but true. I know this test is not very scientific but the results are true.

It's the same with broadband speeds. When visiting a single page there's a threshold at which speed differences become insignificant. You'd probably only notice the differences using intensive applications/situations such as flash heavy sites or pure downloading. As for the N1 being quicker in your situation it's probably down to ping time or 2.3 or some other random variable
You mean Thunderbolt? Apparently the speed test people released a patch for LTE testing because it was giving higher than real results.

Like 40MB up, which is insane.
I rarely seen any network that is so fast that upload speeds double that of the download speed.

I can confirm that LTE is working on My 4gb/64gb ZenFone 2... I live in Seattle Washington and I've been getting consistent speeds of right around 25-28 MB/s... Not the greatest speeds in the world but far better than the 7-8 MB/s I was getting with my At&t Go Phone SIM... For whatever it's worth to anyone on the fence about buying one, I've had just about every phone worth having, between the EVo 4G and the GS5 and I gotta say "I'm loving my ZenFone 2"!!! If you factor in the $299 price tag, off contract, I have to say... This Bad Boy is Unrivalled!!!
I believe Metro relies on Magneta's LTE bands (2/4/12) because they merged a few years back. You can also unlock certain Metro phones for T-Mobile and vice versa.

Update/A few thoughts
So the last few days I had been running my speed tests in the afternoon, mostly because my mornings are so busy and I forget. However, today I made it a point to run a few on off peak hours and in different locations on my 45 min commute to work and I was getting consistent speeds over 35MB/s and as high as 45mb/s! Not to bad :good:
At my office where I was struggling to achieve 2MB/s on my At&t SIM, I got 3 tests of 35MB/s at least on all 3...
So I'd say if you're on Metro PCS in Seattle and you're contemplating the ZenFone 2 US version, buy away. On the flip side if you own the ZenFone 2 and you're contemplating Metro PCS, save yourself some money and enjoy the higher speeds!!! Oh and I bought the $12 case on Amazon with the circular display on the front. Sorry the name of it slips my mind at the moment. It's slightly on the fragile side but I believe is fine if you aren't doing anything to crazy with it but I'd have to say the features that are enacted while it's on are pretty cool to have.
Between that and the knock to wake features, it has truly simplified the menial tasks you do with your phone... Every day I like this phone more and more. My infatuation with rooting and custom roms, while it's still there, has definitely subsided over the past year or so and the way these phones are coming out of the box these days we're getting the performance we were so desperately craving on our Evo's, Galaxy's etc. So while I still love the work these geniuses are doing and I'm still in awe with their talents at times, I can wait a little longer for the development to catch up... I suppose what I'm saying is don't let the lack of development detour you, they'll get around to it, they can't help themselves, you can only push one project so far before you start craving the next one!

So is your zenfone showing the "4G" symbol or is it showing something else like "LTE"

As it is an unlocked phone, it will show 4G. To the rest of the world (other than us here in the USA) 4G is LTE. What we consider 4G is actually HSPDA+ (so your signal will show H+).
The phone won't show LTE because 4G is LTE
MetroPCS runs on the T-Mobile network, so any phone that works with T-Mobile, when unlocked, will work on MetroPCS
Excellent signal on metro, much better than this cheap lg phone I bought through them.
This is definitely showing 4G on Metro? I'm contemplating switching from Cricket because the best I can get thus far is H+ yet my GF, who has an identical device to mine except for ROM size, get's 4G all the time. When I saw that Metro has unlimited LTE for the same price as Cricket's 10GB max I figured I might as well try them out.
However I will say this. I'm on Tmobile but have many friends on MetroPCS. It runs on T-mobile but seems to have better policies in terms of usage restrictions but there is still a fine underlying line. If you consecutively pass 15GB month to month they will throttle you and when you call they play the whole "Oh thats strange let me help you with that. Were not throttling you" but magically when its the start of the next month your internet magically works again. So there is still a fine line and you cant go completely native but regardless if you average under 15GB and 8GB on tether a month Metro does offer one of the best deals around atm.

Nice I'll definitely check that out. I hit 10GB often with Cricket now but rarely over that.
I have the US Le Pro3 with all stock software. Never been rooted or anything like that.
Android 6.0.1 with EUI 5.8.021s
I noticed about a month or so I've been getting really slow internet speed when I am not on wifi. Around 1-2Mbps when I did the speed test. I've tried about 3 other speedtest and all of them gave the same result. I called ATT to see if I am being throttled or something. I spend about 40 minute with tech support and she said that she does not see anything on her end and opened up a case for me. Besides taking the phone to the ATT store is there any thing that I can check on the phone. If I can't figure it out I will go there but just wondering if maybe I turned something off accidentally?
Here are some stuff that I know so far and maybe it can help figure this out.
I am NOT being throttled by ATT
I did the test in multiple locations with similar results even with all 4 bars
It is ONLY me that have this issue, I tested out the speed with 3 other att user at the same time and there speeds are normal
On my phone next to the signal bar, it does NOT show LTE, only 4g.
