New Mate 8 Owner with Troubles - Mate 8 General

Hi Forum, I have the L29 and I am experienced a dropped data signal from time to time with T-Mobile. Restarting the phone fixes the problem. My sim card is about 2 years old and I am awaiting a new one from T-Mobile to see if that solves the problem but anyone have any input on the correct APN settings for T-Mobile on this phone?
I am also having issues with push bullet, Mighty Text, and Air Droid. I can send text messages from my computer using any of these programs but the messages never show up on my phone and I've confirmed that they do in fact send because I get responses. I've protected all the apps and and enabled all the permissions associated with these apps but I am still having the same problem which I never had with my 6P.
Loving this phone and I wish I can get around these issues soon.
Thanks ahead for any insight on this beast of a phone.

New MMS problem arising

Since the last two or three updates within CM builds, I cannot receive MMS from my friend on the sprint network, I am on Tmobile.
I simply receive the message with an attachment that cannot be downloaded. every time I click the download button it tries to retrieve the file and fails
I can receive MMS from myself and it hasn't solved the problem
the apns seem like they have had no direct changes, is something to do with my friends phone more likely or is there a cause for this? tomorrow I will try to have someone on tmobile send me an mms to see if results are different.
need some kind of answer!!! preeeezee
recently gathered info leads me to the suggestion that it is 2.3.4 itself causing this issue, as there is a whole new box called "APN Protocol" in our APN edit menu. Haven't ascertained if there is an actual fix besides downgrading to an older build.
I am having this same exact problem. I know you haven't gotten and answer and it's been a while since you posted on this topic but i didn't want to get yelled at to "use the search feature"
no one seems to have the answer. i get mms from my sister (blackberry) and mom on Verizon. (my mom doesn't even have a smart phone) but my girlfriend with her blackberry on sprint wont come through. It shows the "download" button and it fails every time i click on it.
I haven't tried iphone users yet but seems the problem is carrier specific with my phone not playing nice with others.
I am running the latest cm7 nightly build on mytouch 3g slide from t-mobile. And using the stock message app to send and receive.
(please don't tell me to use handcent or anything of the sort, i'd like an answer to THIS problem, not just a work around)
please someone help!??
Did you try changing the User Agent in the messaging app settings and seeing if it helped?
yeah, actually tried them all. I believe thats only for sending mms so the receiving phone thinks its coming form another type of device. as far as receiving mms, no luck man
on 2.3.4 ive narrowed it down to I cannot receive MMS messages from iPhones on att or verizon. Anyone else who sends me one I am able to download.
Going back to rom in my signature
hmmm, interesting cause i can verify i get from Verizon but not Sprint. And we both have t-mobile, as far as i can see
Just wish the problem was more uniform so that it would be easier to narrow down the problem
im having the same problem with SIMPLE Mobile. it seems i can send to myself and recieve from ALL GSM carriers but CDMA carriers IE. sprint, verizon, metro pcs, do not work i can click download button till im blue in the face and they wont download...any ideas??
I fixed it, or rather it fixed itself. I backed up angry birds data (the only data that matters, otherwise my girlfriend yells at me that she has to start all over AGAIN lol) using titanium. I did a full wipe, data, davlik and cache. Then installed (at the time) the latest nightly, cm7 nightly 78. Automagically fixed, at least the people I tested (including my girlfriends, which was the initial problem) restored angry birds data and donezo. Tell me if it works for you.

[Q] Q: Connection Problems

Hi there,
I'm having serious problems with my connection settings. The phone makes calls, and can send and receive text messages and email no problem, but the network connection doesn't seem to working. I can't access the internet, my twitter program can't connect, weather won't update etc. I've hard reset, without success, as the problem still remains. My phone shows the H connection with 3 or 4 bars. Also, the problems do seem to come and go. Is it a problem with the phone, my SIM card, or the network?
Thanks,
David
Could be the sim, especially if it's a few years old.
Got a friend with a sim you can try?
Well, the SIM card is about 4 years old I think - I've had it since my previous phone. Will check with another card later, see if it helps. I do hope it is just the SIM card!
Deff worth checking,, it's not very common, but its not unheard of either. Certainly worth checking that before you start trashing your instal.

[Q] No connection for calls/SMS but data works?

My SIM unlocked Defy has been sitting unused on the shelf for several months - I did plan to sell it after upgrading to an Atrix, but never quite found the time to sort it out.
I've now decided to pass the Defy on to my girlfriend as a Christmas present (yeah, I'm a tightwad ), but have not been able to get it to work correctly.
The problem is this. The Defy will not connect to the network to send or receive calls or SMS messages. However, the phone can connect to data services via 3G (even though, on my Giffgaff SIM, it gives some sort of error message saying connection will not be possible, before accessing the internet without problems!).
I've tried:
Multiple Basebands - including the various ones I used previously without any problems.
Multiple ROMs - CM7, MIUI, WajkIUI installed via CWM and a couple of Froyo SBFs installed using RSD. All these ROMs show the same characteristics - no calls or SMS but Data connections work.
Multiple SIMs on different networks. The Defy was originally a T-Mobile device but I unlocked this using a code from one of the Unlock sites and used it with an Orange SIM then my Giffgaff SIM with no problems. Now, the very same Giffgaff SIM shows the call/SMS problem. My girlfriend's T-Mobile SIM appears to be recognised normally and the network seems to be working but all calls and SMS messages fail instantly.
Multiple Wipes/Resets using both CWM and the stock recovery. None has resolved the problem.
A quick Google found the following link:
http://thewichitacomputerguy.com/blog/how-i-fixed-your-sim-card-does-not-allow-connection-network-g1
Unfortunately, I've tried everything recommended on that page without success.
Anybody have experience of this problems on their Defy and, if so, can anybody tell me how I can fix it?
I promised my girlfriend a phone so, if I can't get this Defy working properly, it's going to cost me a few quid so I would appreciate any assistance!
I've since discovered that my problematic Defy appears to have been blacklisted, almost certainly by accident by those wonderfully incompetent folks at Orange. Here's more information on a problem which has occurred with quite a few people here in the UK following the merger of the Orange/t-mobile networks in mid-December:
http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.php?t=3677593
I bought the phone on eBay from a seller and used it for around six months without any problems so I think it incredibly unlikely that the blacklisting is valid - I mean, who would report a phone as stolen around 8 months after it was taken?!?
Just waiting to hear back from the eBay seller to see if he can provide me with his original proof of purchase for the phone so I can get the blacklisting lifted. I don't rate my chances all that highly.
Hi all. sorry to revive a few month old thread, but at least I'm not creating a whole new one!
I have a Motorola Defy. Generally I'm pretty geeky, but I decided to root it at install ICS 4.0.4... it all went well... eventually. However I have no conectivity to my network. It will not send or receive texts calls or data to the network. Wifi does work still.
Honestly I'm done screwing around with it. I just want to restore it back to original factory settings and admit defeat. Where can I find the original firmware that will work In canada on the Telus network? This is my only phone, I have no other cell and no landline so I'm kinda in a pickle and would appreciate anything you could do to help me get up and running again.
If there is any more info you need just ask, I'll try to get it for you.
Try it with this baseband switcher. Maybe it will help you.
Thanks! I actually just saw your post, but I figured that out all by myself! It did work though! I appreciate the reply!
ok new problem... everytime I shut off my phone it reverts back to the wrong baseband. any idea on how to keep it on the new one? every time i reboot I have to swithc baseband then do a restart. it them switches and works perfect. If i shut the phone off it reverts and I have to go over it all over again.
Try to convert defy baseband switcher to a system app with Titanium backup.

Thanks Vicsa! Used Apps2ROM (ROOT) instead because I'm cheap, but had the same effect. You sir are awesome!
And now that my phone is working again perfect I'll be leaving the F***ing thing alone now unless i'm absolutely 100% sure what I'm doing. Generally I have no issue doing things like this to computers, but it would seem that phones are a whole new breed... Anyways THANK-YOU!!!!
You're welcome mate. Glad I could help you

T-mobile Nexus 6P delayed SMS

Alright so for the past few weeks, I've been having issues sending SMS i'd send the message but the person wouldn't get the message till 20-30 minutes later. I called
T-Mobile multiple times about this issue and they reset some settings on their side but it would be every night starting at 10:30PM est til 2AM est. Whenever Tmo reset settings on their side SMS works. So a few days ago, I went to Tmo to get a new sim card and so did my girlfriend she got a new sim card who she has the
GS7 edge (T-Mobile) but any ways the problem has gotten worse and now im not sure what to-do. Weather a factory reset would fix the issue or changing the messaging app i've been using Google Messenger what else can I possibly do?
Try swapping SIM's with your girlfriend (Not sure what Sim the GS7E uses). See if the problem follows the SIM (IE, Your number/account) or the device. If your phone sends texts no problem with her SIM, Then it's not your phones problem. It's something to do with the provisioning on their (T-Mobiles) side. If it follows the phone. Compare the APN settings to your Girlfriends phone. They should match. If that all fails, You may want to try a factory reset.
I assume there is a way you could somehow see the message exiting the phone in a debug log somewhere. I'm not sure how one could do that. But I assume the phone will queue the message if it doesn't transmit. And you should be able to see that somewhere besides in the messaging app. I would also assume somewhere you can see why it's rejected by the local tower. I would imagine there is some kind of rejection message carried in signaling, But these are just my assumptions. I work in the carrier trunking business, Not the cell business. Haha.

it uses the nano sim that's actually not bad idea i'm going to try that, but before I did a factory reset on my N6P. I assume there could be a way to find out how to debug log it or anything to figure out what's going on, but i don't get since we got new sim cards why would it keep on doing it. Also that's why came here to see if anyone has been having the same issues with their N6P's on Tmo.

Well, My buddies got a N6P on T-Mobile here in Central Florida and has no issues.
I suggest swapping them SIM's because it tests the provisioning. The SIM's themselves are fine. Because they work at all. The bigger thing to test here is that your account/line is correct. And by swapping SIM's you're trying a known-good account. So it's less about the SIM being functional. And more about T-Mobile not having some kind of misconfiguration on your account. So let us know how it goes.
As for how to look into it further, Hopefully someone else can chime in. As that's outside my depth.

Nope. Still a good test. Since they are different numbers / lines.
That's strange. I have a 6p on T-Mobile as well and haven't had those issues. Stock N ROM and using stock Messenger app.
I also work for T-Mobile, where do you live?

I live in South FL, Stock 6.0.1 MM using stock Messenger app. I went to a T-Mobile store and they said it was because my phone is a "Unlocked Phone" and they also blame it on the network is "congested" but my girlfriend she has the GS7 Edge and it only happens when i text her and it starts at 10:30PM messages get delayed but with the double texts they have always been like this. even when I had my N6 from T-Mobile. So now i'm not sure what to do, if a factory reset on my device or on her phone also or what....
On my 6p, no matter what settings or apps used, I had mms and sms issues whenever I had wifi calling turned on. My issues were late and undelivered messages. Had to turn off wifi calling.

I don't have wifi calling on, and now I have issues with calls the phone call breaks up. And I will have to hangup and try and call her back but it goes straight to voicemail til I wait 5 minutes then call again and she said it was the same for her, when she tried to call me back. It would go straight to voicemail after the call breaks up and there is all this feedback.

Unable to receive text messages

I've searched and can't seem to find a solution to this issue. I dropped and broke the screen on my Oneplus One, and found a used Oneplus 5 online for $250. Everything works fine, can make/receive calls, internet works fine on wifi and over cellular data, but I can't receive text messages. I've sent them myself from my PC using google voice, and having people send them to me from their various phones. Since the sim on the Oneplus One was a different size, I had to go to my carrier (Cricket) who sold me a new sim that they activated to my account. I've never had an iPhone, so I've never used any sim in any iPhone (I've seen this can cause problems). I have checked all APN settings, as well as the service message number in the messages app. I've tried the Textra 3rd party app, same thing. I've factory reset (which I did before the initial setup as well, as I wanted a fresh setup on this phone), both times deleting all data. With my service provider, it actually sets up 3 APNs (Internet, ATT and Cricket) and I've tried manually using all 3, and none do anything different. How can this be possible that I can do everything EXCEPT receive text messages??
So, I was searching for oneplus 5 issues, but I possibly should have been searching for Cricket issues. I'm at work now and so I can't call, but I may have to contact Cricket customer service and have them refresh my SIM based on this reddit post:
https://www.reddit.com/r/CricketWireless/comments/9bd3on/phone_not_receiving_text_messages/
So, hopefully that'll work for my phone
That's reprovisioning. It might work. Where is the new one plus from?

I got it from an individual online. He's been an avid oneplus upgrader, as soon as the next one comes out he has to get it. So, he got the 6T, I get to buy his 5 lol. I don't believe there can be physical damage with the phone that would only have the problem of not receiving SMS. It has to be a provisioning or software issue somewhere. If I can't get it fixed through provisioning, I'll flash a different rom to it. I loved being able to do that with the 1+1, and hopefully I can have a similar experience with the 1+5 if I need to do it.

It's similar. Get TWRP then do whatever. However be warned. You need a PC and to use fastbook to flash TWRP. Once in twrp flash magisk or SU. The TWRP.img gets replaced if stock notices it's not right. Flashing root stops this.

Messages/settings / advanced. Verify SMSC and the number there with carrier.
It was the sim. Called my provider when they opened this morning and asked them to refresh my sim. Left my phone off for a couple minutes, texts came flooding in. Tested with Google voice, send and receive works. Wasn't the phone after all

In theory it shouldn't have. First thing I did was a factory reset. Then I wasn't sure so I did a factory reset and made sure to include all settings. Then after that I did a reset of the network settings. I did confirm all the APN settings as well as the smsc # were correct for my carrier. I don't know exactly what it was, but I'm glad it wasn't this phone I got second hand and had my nightmares about getting duped come true lol

Just happened to me. Bought a pixel xl and the IMEI provided was fake. Phone blacklisted. I ended up buying this a couple days later. Perhaps it's for the best, this phone is great
I'm enjoying it so far. Definitely better than the OnePlus One I killed. Not the 8 GB memory and 128 storage I was hoping for. But, it'll do
