Android 6.0.1 bugs manifest S7 Edge! - Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge Questions and Answers

Hello i just bought this amazing phone after coming from Note 5 with android 6.0.1, and it really bugs me that all the bugs i had in 6.0.1 are still there.
The first one is wierd performance in some 3D games, mainly talking about angry birds 2 that slows down after playing for a bit, same happens on Note 5 on 6.0.1 but NOT in lollipop.
Audio cuts in half when playing games, it seems like a new gameservice feature, so far to combat it and the weird color change when launching a game, is to disable the gameservice via package disable pro.
Some animations are not smooth and either too fast or too slow.
What bugs did u encounter?

The Play Store is super slow when I'm on wifi, but every other app functions just fine... it's driving me nuts because I can't download my apps or update anything without burning through my data.

every Android phone have slow Play store since it`s not using cache.

I had 2 issues (well 3) but not sure its Android 6 or Samsung Phone issues:
a) I had to try 3 different microSD cards till one worked - they keep showing up as corrupted (even tho they work ok in other devices) i noticed the bigger the SD storage is the worse it performs (had to use a 16GB as the 64GB Samsung card didnt work - the phone would see it but wont let me create or move any files on it
b) probably a result of the a) issue - as my camera had settings to save pix on the SD card - my camera stopped working - everytime i opened it it would say: failed to open
tried everything but only a factory reset fix it
c) the phone got frozen on the weather page and literally nothing was working - no back buttons, up/down buttons, power off - nothing - it stayed like that 15 min until i performed a battery removal simulation (hold volume down and power button for 20 sec)
Other than that ALL ok - screen is weirdly sensitive - sometimes i touch an app and it acts like long touch?!!
A bit scared of these hiccups

I reported to USA support all those issues, as mine local support stinks bad. it seems that camera app is the major complain and have issues with that, a fix probably will be soon and hopefully will eliminate over processing with HDR.
Now i hope they will release fixes asap for all other issues as well.

Are you sure you don't just have a bad phone? Using multiple cards and having issues with all of them seems like there might be a hardware issue with the card reader.

How am I supposed to fix this? I can't set up my phone unless I can use the play store... It's not just the loading information, but also the downloading. I haven't been able to successfully update any Google Apps yet, and I left my phone running overnight

No problem here with my 64gb sandisk microsd. Which speed class do the cards have and additionally which formatting?
But as already said, it may be that the card reader of your device is simply faulty.

No problem with the play store here :/ Have you maybe tried to clear the data of google play services and play store and checked if it's still there?

I've done everything
Cleared caches/data, cleared caches from recovery, factory reset, tested the router, everything.
The WiFi works fine when I browse the Internet or download from Galaxy Apps store.

I've solved the issue to my wifi problem after fiddling around. Turns out my router was relying on the DHCP server to assign IPv6 addresses and there was some sort of issue with that, so I switched it to auto-configuration and now the Play Store works again

Same here

You should check your router settings and make sure it's assigning IPv6 addresses automatically. That was the cause of my issue. It occurred to me after I connected to my university's wifi with no problems.

New video issue

I am not sure why this issue has all of a sudden popped up. I have been using fresh 1.0 since it was released. This issue is there even with the stock rom so it isn't the rom. At first everything was great. A couple of weeks ago I noticed this problem and I don't know what is causing it. Before I could use Meridian, Act 1 or the stock video player and watch a couple of movies without issue and they looked and sounded great. Now after a few seconds the video freezes or the screen goes black but the audio continues to play. The way to fix it is to reboot, use advanced task manager and kill the running processes/apps. Then the movie will play fine. After being on for a couple of hours if I go to watch another movie, same thing happens and I have to perform the same reboot/task manager ritual again. I tried using another sd card in case there was a problem with this one and the same things happens. This issue did not exist a couple of weeks ago. Does anyone know why this might be happening? Keep in mind I have not installed anything nor have the movies been changed.
Try turning off all 3 location service options, just to see if it's related to the location manager chewing up your CPU.
Unfortunately those settings are already off. I guess when I get back town this weekend I am going to have to wipe and start with a new build and root it again and flash to Fresh 1.0 and then see if the issue is gone. I have tried everything I can think of and it is still happening. I am still puzzled why it just started out of the blue.
I think I have found the culprit. I tried a different card with the same result. I formatted the card and ran chkdsk on it and then copied the data back to it and checked to see if it would need a defrag and of course it didn't. I terminated the Weatherbug widget I had on my homescreen and so far I have been able to play movies without issue.

A sdcard does not need a "defrag" by definition. It takes the same amount of time to access a sector on a sdcard no matter where it is.
Yep. Just covering any possible scenario. I certain at this point it has to do with widgets. I am not sure if it is just that widget or not. I had auto update turned off on that one.

[BUG] Phone reboots during an active call + USB storage (apps2sd) full

Problem 1:
I've just rooted my nexus-s and I'm not sure whether it's due to rooting or a software conflict with apps installed on the device that's not compatible with android 2.3, but I'm experiencing quite a frequent phone reboot while I am in the middle of an active call.
Is there a way to capture the log of the phone's function and see what's causing the reboot?
Are anyone experiencing this problem as well?
Problem 2:
I probably have only used 240 Mb of the USB storage, and it shows that I have 13Gb free. However, when I put the check boxes beside the applications that can be moved to the USB storage (i.e. native apps2sd), I seem to have surpassed the limit allowed for moving the app for USB storage. I've got 21 apps that can be moved, but it won't allow me to move the 21st app. Error message says "[! Move Application] Failed to move application. There is not enough storage left." I've tried checking and unchecking boxes of different applications, and it has nothing to do with the 20 apps limit, but rather it's the amount of memory being moved to the USB storage

Well I have 23 apps on my USB storage, and I have the Voodoo Root kernel as well. It shows 2.1gb used, 11gb free.
I did notice a 'soft reboot' earlier today but it wasn't during a call, don't know what caused it but yeah. Honestly if I were you and the problem persists just reformat and start over.
Im having the same phone reboot problem as you during phone calls. I thought it was due to an app called Screebl being incompatible, but i just made a test call and it rebooted after about 18 minutes. Im going through my apps to see what else effects the phone state during phone call.
Ive heard of some people having problems with google maps causing problems during phone calls, or sprint nav (but we dont have sprint nav) So im going to try shutting down maps, and uninstalling my task killer, which i also heard can cause problems.
Have you been able to figure anything out? I really dont want to have to reset my phone and lose all my save data information from my games. My phone is not rooted, and i dont plan on rooting yet, so i cant use titanium backup for my data.
Phone only Reboots during active phone call, i can play games or surf the web on it all day long with no reboots.
So software issue in android 2.3, or some kind of app incompatibility im thinking
you can capture the log with adb logcat command, or download a logcat app from the Market http://www.appbrain.com/search?q=logcat
Why are you bothering with apps2sd? The Nexus S shares the Galaxy S line's hugh, I mean HUGE, 1GB of "disk" space for apps. I've got almost 100 apps on my phone and not a hint of low space. See the screen capture I've attached: 284mb used for apps, 724mb still free!
oh crap! please let it not be the same problem as in the SGS i9000m
that's one of the sign before the internal SD goes belly up

Didn't they switch the type of flash memory used from earlier Galaxy S phones? I saw some discussion about it not being movinand any longer, or at least some sort of physical difference between what the NS has vs the SGS line.

Haha this may be the case, but I've inherited the habit of obsessively moving apps to sd/usb from using my Nexus One. Combined, I am using about 450MB of space for my apps at the moment. But this is a huge improvement from the Nexus One.

Oh yes, I was the same on my N1 and even EVO 4G, but once I got a Galaxy S, never even considered it.
I'll wager the nand used for the "rom" space is faster than the nand for the "sdcard", another thing to consider. You're not even half-way used up with that 450...

I haven't rooted my Nexus S,but i've experience the same soft reboot during call.
I have the "End call using power button" option enabled. Im not sure if i was leaning on the button when it happened, but stock doesn't have a reboot option, so its unlikely. I suspect its a OS bug, rather than a rooting issue.
Let me know if you make any progress, i've since made calls with no problems.

You know, I thought there were software incompatibilities too at the first place. I did not use "End call using power button". But after running the same stock rom with rooting and apps for a week, I didn't see the soft reset during the phone call. I have just installed a new rom on my nexus s, the R2 version of MoDaCo Custom ROM for the Samsung Nexus S. Running great so far. No soft resets.
** Edit **
Actually, after posting this post yesterday, I did experience another soft reset whilst talking on my phone. I have the same apps that I have been running in the background, mainly: google pinyin, paypal, k-9 mail, ebay, rhapsody, google voice, bluetooth share, and swype. I am not experience the soft reset in all calls, after I have installed the R2 version of MoDaCo Custom Rom. I will post any problems again if I do see this happening again.
I did a factory reboot/restore and that seemed to take care of the soft reset during call problem.
Have made several calls without issue
Its doing it again, this phone is going back. The screen coating is already wearing off as well. Hopefully number 2 will be better.
I have yet to get one android phone that hasnt had to be exchanged once. Android phones really need to have better QC before leaving the factory.
Droid 1: 3 times (keyboard, GPS problems)
Evo: 4 times (terrible screens)
epic: 1 time (Keyboard)
Nexus: 1 time (so far) Screen Coating, Constant Reboots
Phone reboots itself during an active call.
I have been experiencing this problem and it seems to escalate in frequency. I got this Nexus S on day one when it came out. However, I have not experienced soft reboot issue until last week, after the OTA update. Since then, it keeps doing it more and more and now it's like almost every active call I make. First, I thought it's software conflict. Now, having read this whole thread, I think it's an OS issue.
I also sometimes encounter with completely losing signal. The phone can not register to any network, and I have to reboot.
One more issue is the voice search apk sometimes activates itself when I shake or move the phone.
My phone is stock, and I do not have any issue with USB storage.
I like the phone for its speed, and the contour screen. It handles most tasks very quickly, even it's still a stock phone, unrooted.
I still have it until Jan 14 to decide whether I will keep it or not. Hopefully, there are some ways to fix these issues.
Mine is restarting during calls and also when not in use. It restarted 3 times during calls within 10 days, and I witnessed it restarting by itself at least once when the phone was locked and not in use.
I have an unrooted Nexus S, which I started using yesterday. The OTA came almost immediately after setting up, so I installed that. It appeared to be working flawlessly until this evening when I made the first call on it. It rebooted a few minutes into the call. After redialing it did it again, the third call I ended without problem, but was shorter than the previous two. A few mins later I made some test calls and it rebooted during both of them.
I did a factory reset and wipe of USB storage - I didn't bother adding my Google account and just made a test call which lasted 13 mins before I hung up.
I'll have to make some more calls tomorrow and if they work, I'll try adding my Google account and restoring stuff.
I had this same thing happen to me quite a few times reboot during a call or locking up after a call. I work to a company and we purchased three phones. So I switched with another one and guess what? Same problem definitely looking like a software problem.
This just happened to me for the 1st time a little bit ago. About 35 mins into the call/conversation, phone rebooted itself. Non-rooted here, I hope it's a software issue, that can be corrected within the next OTA update.
Are the spontaneously rebooting phones possibly overheating? Do they feel warmer to the touch than normal when it happens?

While I cannot speak for anyone else having this issue, in my case - no. The phone didn't get warmer, or seem to overheat. Odd issue to say the least.
Stock ROM (2.3.1) here as well. Just had it reboot 10 minutes into a call, then one minute into the following call to apologise for the first dropped call!

Wi-Fi problem

I have a problem, when I turn Wi-Fi on the whole unit becomes unresponsive. I cannot open almost any program, the DVP runs slow and freezes.
If I turnt it off is back to normal.
Anyone else is having this issue?
I got 2 units, one of them has ths problem, the other one does not.
They are both 16gb.
I am not getting as many issues as you but the WiFi does seem a bit more problematic than the WiFi on the HD7. The only lockups that I have seen have been when I am on WiFi. Also the Venue Pro seems to have a harder time staying connected to the WiFi than the HD7 on the same network.

That's good.
I wonder if the replacement unit has any software updates or not.
I compared the 2 units I have and they are all identical software versions.
Do both phones have the same build date? You can find it on the box.

Yes, both have the same date 12/14/2010.

Mine was built 12/17 (16GB) and is exhibiting the freezing while on WiFi. I don't think it's a batch issue. Perhaps it's the encryption type. I use WPA2 and I have the WiFi-freezing-the-phone problem.

Yes indeed. still no go.
I noticed yesterday while Wi-Fi is enabled, and music is playing through your speakers (haven't tried via headphones), the music skips for a second then continues playing. This happens repeatedly if you're listening to music for awhile.
When I disabled Wi-Fi, the skipping stops.

This is way out there, but could the freezes be related to subpar SDCARD performance ? I had one instance where I shut down the phone, and when I turned it back on the first run setup wizard came on. All the apps I had downloaded were gone. Has not happened again, but evidently, downloads go directly to SD, and apps execute directly from SD. Large downloads seem to Freeze the phone, the browser in conjunction with the marketplace, etc. I don't know, just throwing it out there. Could be Dell be using different SD card models or manufacturers and affecting performance ? I know it's crazy, just want to hear your opinion.

That is what I suspected as well. Maybe it's crashing because the SD card is being taxed more by the faster WiFi data (vs. cell data).
I wonder if those who have freezing have more apps or data installed and now the phone is using the SD card instead of the internal memory? As pointed out in another thread, there's about 1GB of internal memory.

Just froze for me (first time today as I hadn't used it save for a phone call and email) while downloading an app in the background while browsing a webpage.
Seemed to do it on command-- as soon as I opened up the browser and went to a page, it stopped, I pressed the Windows key and it sent me to the tile page where it was frozen with the whole people tile filled up with faces.
Long press of power button needed to reboot.
And yes, this was while on WiFi.
My 16GB (don't have the build date) and mine is doing the same thing. I am at a location where I don't have great service and have had to connect to WiFI all weekend. When I go to a rich website or the marketplace the phone will just freeze.
Dell is sending out a new one this week. Hopefully this will fix the issue.

Thoughts on DVP crashing issues

I've had the phone for about a week now, and it's been really crash-prone and unstable for the first couple of days. I previously had an HD7 for 4 weeks, so I immediately set up my DVP like I had the HD7 set up.
It was so buggy, I hard reset at least a couple of times in those few days. My most recent hard reset was on Sunday, and lo and behold, I didn't experience any crashes for 4 days!
That started me thinking. The difference between the previous hard reset and the current hard reset was that I hadn't loaded many apps or any mp3s yet - so I loaded the same amount of MP3s as I had before (about 8gb) and immediately any new programs started crashing! In fact, I think just about anything that wrote to the disk exhibited errors, from newly downloaded and installed apps to existing apps which does disk I/O. The marketplace crashed all the time while downloading or installing apps.
My best guess as to the cause of the issue is that the SD card is corrupting data. As long as you are using the internal storage, everything runs fine - but once data is written to the SD card, things are getting corrupted. I'm not sure about this, it's just a guess.
At the OS level, the internal storage is combined with the SD card into a single logical disk - AKA JBOD in RAID terms. I'm not sure about the OS-level algorithm it uses to determine whether or not to save to internal vs SD card, but my guess is that it writes to the internal first, then when that is exceeded, it writes to the SD card. Even after removing some MP3s, I still had crashes, so I'm guessing that it doesn't overwrite the same sectors that previously held data until all the "fresh" sectors have been used (ie it was still writing to the SD card).
If this is the case, then the culprits could be either A) Dell's crappy SD card drivers corrupting the data or B) a crappy quality SD card corrupting the data. Given their recent QC issues i'm inclined to think it's B - but I hope it's A because that would imply a software fix as opposed to having to replace hardware.
Either way, I'll write a program to test my hypothesis: It'll create a test files of a specific size and then read them back and check that the test data is correct.
Thoughts? Has anybody else noticed similar behavior after filling up their storage?
I suspected the SD card as well, which is why I included the remaining storage space in the options in the poll at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=891295
That being said, some others have said that doing a system reset on their phone did not fix the crashing problems. There are 2 major unknown variables here of course - when the phone is using the SD card vs. internal memory, and whether everyone is experiencing the same type of crashing.

Yeah, I wouldn't be surprised if there were multiple causes for the all the crashes people are experiencing - most likely the SD card may be responsible for some of those, while other issues are causing more crashes.
Impossible to tell at the moment, though. But perhaps the reason why people associated wifi with crashing was that they were using the wifi to load more data than they were over 3G?
I've thought about the apps too. AP mobile is one that is involved on my list. Shazam, yelp, where, are others. I an make my hd7 crash with each of them. However, that does not eliminate sd card. Optimal read/write access speed will probably impact crash, lag, and performance.
Based on this thread it sounds like it's probably more of a driver issue.

I've used those apps on the HD7 and I don't think they ever crashed it - not nearly as often as the DVP crashes.

That and also at a much higher rate than 3G typically.

I don't know if I would agree with that. I would hope that drivers would be the same on all devices. To have 1 fail and 20 not fail....is it driver? I would be curious to know what the failure rates would be. Sure we see alot of complaints here on this forum....but there is not a whole lot of traffic about failure of the DVP. All in All, I'm happy with the DVP. I also have a HD7...and I'm happy with that. I have them both sitting here...and when I make a decision to use a phone of my choice...I've chosen the DVP.
With all things being equal, if I get into a fight, the DVP can be used as a weapon.
I've used up quite a bit of storage but the only time I seem to get a crash is when I enable WiFi, otherwise my DVP seems to run stable.

I have the same results, I went crash free for 2 days without WiFi I wanted to test it and turned it back on and it crashed within a few min.
I have a replacement coming from Dell but I doubt they will have it fixed. I'm hoping it would be something that can be fixed by an update.
Mine crashes too!!
I too am experiencing many of the issues that have been posted on this forum (crashing w/wo wifi, while in MP, or when an app needs data from the internet). Twice I have reached in my pocket, hit the power button to bring up the lock screen and nothing happens - just a blank screen. Hence had to pull the battery and reboot.
A couple of other things I have noticed that I am not sure I have seen on the forums. Does anyone else have a DVP where the top left edge and the bottom right edge are not flush with the bottom of the phone? It is slight, but I noticed it on day one. Also, I have a heck of a time with the accelerometer sticking. Sometimes it refuses to go back into portrait mode. No mater how I turn and twist it (360 deg).
Anyone else experience this?
I used to use the power button to get to the unlock screen, but after fumbling with it a few times in the dark, I switched to flipping out the keyboard, which does the same thing. And while it did often take multiple presses of the power button to wake the DVP, I have never had to pull the battery.
I've had the DVP since November 8th, and had it crash on my severely enough for a battery pull maybe 3-4 times tops. This is both on the "engineering" phone and the "retail" phone. The only difference I have with you guys - and this is pretty significant - is that I hacked my SD card pretty much within the first couple of days of getting it. I've upgraded to a SanDisk class 2 16GB.
Now, I haven't particularly filled it up; in fact, I have tons of space free. But, I'd like to set some facts straight:
1) The DVP has no internal storage. Just a few megs (~16MB or so) just so the OS can run if you pull the SD card. Nothing new here; we've seen this during the first days of the SD card hack thread.
2) If you fill up your storage, and applications request for IsolatedStorage, the request will most likely fail if you have (close to) zero storage free. If applications don't check for that, it will probably crash. I don't know if this is necessarily happening, since I don't have a crashing device to observe this behaviour, but that's one hunch. Some of you have said that the HD7 did not crash when you filled up the storage, which might throw my theory out the window.
3) The SD card used in the DVP is also a SanDisk - I tend to trust them with storage reliability. If it is indeed a driver issue, then Microsoft might have some share in the blame as well - MS writes drivers for the OEMs for WP7.
What we need to do is scientifically reproduce the issue. Instead of general data corruption, another thing to check is to see what happens as storage gets filled up.

I attempted to do just that - I wrote a storage test app and ran it on my DVP, and it encountered no issues.
The app wrote test data, filling up 95% of available free space (around 13.3GB), then read it back in and verified the data. I'm now fairly confident that it's not the SD card or the storage drivers that are responsible for the crashing.
I did however, encounter issues trying to download the Rise of Glory game. I had turned wifi off, but it's large enough that it requires wifi or sync in order to download and install. Once I turned wifi on and retried the download, the phone crashed on me.
Let's see if we can verify the wifi + marketplace issue:
1) make sure phone wifi is off
2) connect DVP to computer, run Zune
3) via zune sync, verify that you can install a large game or app on your phone. It has to be one which you haven't downloaded before, as I don't think you can force zune to reinstall an app it knows you already downloaded.
4) disconnect the phone
5) verify the game runs correctly
6) uninstall the game on the phone
7) turn phone wifi on
8) go into marketplace on the phone
9) reinstall the same game and see if you have any issues with marketplace while downloading (freezing/hanging/etc)
10) if everything's still ok, verify that the game runs correctly
@Zaijian
I tried reproducing your flow on my DVP and it didn't crash. But, what is strange is mine freezes (only twice so far) @ random right after playing and trying to get to some other app or switching between app. This tends me to side on the memory as being the culprit or some other component being the culprit. Most likely could be memory related and how WP7 manages to kill an app. Is there a memtest kind of thing we could run on this DVP?
I wrote a wifi transfer testing app and ran it overnight - it transferred 4GB over my wifi (from my desktop to the phone) correctly and without incident.
So, i've confirmed that:
A) there's nothing wrong with writing a single large file to the file system
B) there's nothing wrong with transferring data over wifi
My next tests will be:
1) simultaneously writing multiple large files to the file system
2) simultaneoulsy writing files to the file system and transferring data over wifi
3) some sort of memory test to see if memory is getting corrupted
WiFi seems to be the issue
Not much question that mine locks up when WiFi is turned on. I have been experimenting with this issue for the past few days and while having WiFi on causes random lock-ups, not having it on makes it run without any issues.
Fortunately, most of the areas I use my phone have good 3G coverage so WiFi acting up is not a deal breaker but I certainly hope they are able to fix this with the impending update.
One consideration is could there be an app we all have that uses WiFi that is causing trouble? Has anyone had issues with this from a fresh device? I seem to recall having it lock up early on before I put many apps on it.

My problems seem to occur when I'm going through the marketplace and downloading via wifi.
I verified with my test app that wifi can transfer a large amount of data without errors. This leads me to believe that the wifi itself is not the cause of the issues, but that wifi in combination with other factors may be the cause.

I thought so too but I left the WiFi on and rebooting without accessing Marketplace has been causing lockups as well. In fact, I just noticed it was locked up after a reboot 10 minutes ago and, sure enough, I left WiFi on. I didn't so much as unlock the screen after the reboot although I have also had it lock up while accessing Marketplace.

I'll test using wifi simultaneously with local disk I/O and see if that causes errors.

My firsts issues with the Note 3

My Note 3 has uploaded all the software that was previously installed on my Note 2.
2 issues at this stage :
- time to time, the messages regarding Internal or External memory usage, saying that there was 1,30 Mb free ... But there's 22 Gb free on internal storage etn 6 Gb free in external SD card
- after un reboot, the phone went on reboot loop. I had to wipe data and user conf and install it from the start.
Since then, the phone needs to reboot 2 or 3 times before being ready to use !!!
Another small issue in Lock screen : the ink effect does not apply color changes ...
And at last, Wifi seems to be pretty weak hanging out several times ...

Did you root your phone or install any mods? Was the phone rebooting on its own before the reboot loop, or did you reset the phone and that kicked off the loop? Was there a particular app that seemed like it was causing a problem?
No my phone is not rooted.
Once reset, the phone is good. Issue appears after having installed my apps from Google Play.
I fought it was due to one of my apps but i think it's weird that just an app can force loop reboot.
And one thing fishy is the message about internal ou external storage being insufficient and still having so much storage left ...
One thing that surprised me is that the booting time is very short.
Lockscreen appears almost 10 secondes after the Samsung logo.
This is a problem with memory. Eject your external micro sd card. Save all the information then format it with your phone. Turn off auto update from google play. Then try to install one of that applications which caused reboot. Worked for me, i had the same issue...
Which app did u find to be the problem?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I317 using Tapatalk 4
I had a continuous boot loop problem after installing a few apps. It freaked me out as I spent a long time getting everything looking good on the phone. I thought it was going to be a case of hard resetting.
I removed the SD card and suddenly all was OK! I had been using the card in a different phone. So I removed any system folders from the card and everything worked fine. That is until I reinstalled some other things and the problem came back. So I reformatted the card in the phone and now it all seems to be working.
I also had problems with changes not sticking on the lock screen. They too are now working after I did the above.
I do however still occasionally get a pop up dialog saying internal memory is 1.90Mb or similar small amount. Does not seem to affect anything but the fact it appears is a concern.
Hope this helps.
Thanks for your help !
I will try to format my SD Card (a Samsung one). I have to backup media content before.
I let you know if it works and if the popup dialog is still here (I had 2 popups : one for internal storage and one for external).
I hope Samsung will provide soon an update or a patch.
Even without the SD Card inserted, the phone needs at list one reboot to be ready ... So weird !
UPDATE:
I found what is responsible for the boot loops. On the SD card the hidden folder " .android_secure " I had 3 " .ASEC " files belonging to 3 apps I had installed:
Nodebeat
Argos
Maps With Me
Removing these .ASEC files stopped the loop but obviously means the aforementioned apps will no longer run! So I have fixed one problem and in order to use the apps I have to re-install them without the SD card present.
I've checked the hidden directory : no file in here.
I decided to remove the SD Card and hard reset my phone.
After hard reset and phone configuration, the phone reboots with no problem. Still the ink effect does not apply color change (stuck on "no color").
I started to install my apps (still no SD card in it) and rebooted the phone.
Loop started again ... The phone needs to reboot 1 or 2 times before being able to get to touchwiz.
I think only a patch or firmware update will fix this issue ...
Anyway thanks for you help and your time
Oh ! I found something weird but good to know !
I have put back the SD card, install all the apps ... Still loop rebooting ... But ...
I put my phone in "Plane mode" and reboot : no loop ! i've tested this twice ....
Something going on with the phone trying to reach the network ...

For the ink effect, it only applies if you choose Ripples for the effect. Not working on Watercolor.
Also, try to use S Pen when unlocking the screen

Indeed i was already using Ripples for effect but the ink is only applied when using S Pen .. Makes sense in a way !

I thought that the problem could be connected to one of my application.
So I did a Secured Mode boot (in order to only run the system apps) and the problem is still here.
So one of preloaded apps, after an update, could be the cause on my loop reboot.
You're absolutely right. I have the same issue with the Samsung logo showing up shortly after booting. Restarted the phone while in airplane mode and the issue goes away.

I'am at least reassured not to be the only one facing this reboot problem !

I don't know if the OP or the other poster are still having issues, but the fact that the reboot is affected by airplane mode brings the SIM cars under suspicion. I would get a new SIM provisioned by your carrier, and if the issue persists I would be getting a replacement device pronto. There is absolutely NO reason a new device, right after resetting should be anything but perfect. Accepting anything else is at your own peril. If you had attempted or performed root, or any other type of unlocking attempts I would wonder, but you state that you haven't.
The most important thing is to prove if it is the device, the cards or software. For me, AT&T would be shipping a new phone overnight just in case Theres no way I would take a chance on the presence of a defect at the price we pay for these.
Yes I confirm device is untouched (not rooted).
I don't think it's a SIM card issue as i have tried with another one. One other thing is that the phone works nicely from fresh start. It's after having updated the preinstalled apps, installed Samsung Hub and installed my apps that device goes on loop after reboot.
I think it's more a firmware thing, like the handwritting input mode not working on some device (I never have this problem but just in case i installed the OTA update provided by Samsung thru Google Play today).
Let me conclude to the post.. one of my friend bought this phone after the launch day it was a 64 GB Snapdragon 800 and the device over heated like **** and he had to return it the next day after paying 800$ upfront or more!!! I don't know what's happening to samsung..., I guess we should go for nexus 5!

But was it just because of the indexing service indexing a large SD, or even lots of files on the internal SD, or even a large dropbox account?
