You are right. Motorola made a statement that 6.0 M is the last update we get.

I guess it's not possible yet to start working on a custom rom or simply porting the N Preview on our X, right? Source must be released first?
I really hope so,
Android police posted an article saying N will probably launch in the summer. This could fall within the 2 year update period of our phone.
Edit:
Never mind, the article was updated saying N would launch in Q3 ?

it has something to do with the new volcan api
https://developer.qualcomm.com/software/adreno-gpu-sdk/gpu
That just means older GPUs wont't get vulkan. It's not like Android suddenly requires Vulkan to work. Otherwise Anything below 820 won't get N, which is obviously not true.

Again I'm speculating here, but the Snapdragon 808, Snapdragon 810 are running 4xx GPUs and the Nexus 5 hasn't got the Android N preview so there is a possibility that the phones with 3xx GPUs will be abandoned.

Yes but why does not getting vulkan matter?
Is the entire UI built of vulkan now?

When i was in HTC community there were lot of ports of ROMs but here in moto g original development is way too good. So we basically don't need ports. It will be great to see how 1 GB roms will going to handle new M
I'm wondering if the Low-Power 'Doze Mode' requires specific hardware, such as low-power cpu cores. If this was the case; the feature would not function on Moto G.

I think that it will be just a new driver for power management. Now let's wait for Motorola confirmation about Moto G and Android M. The rumored launch is in august and august is in the Q3 2015 (July -> September). The bad thing is that Google doesn't upload the developer preview code to AOSP so no costum ROM till release date just ported apps.

I read its only effective on shelf devices particularly tablets which are left idle for a lot of time
So its benefit on a smartphone is very little

Yes I don't think our device has any chance of getting it but 2nd gen may get it.
And as for the porting someone , may be @lost101 will surely port it to device
And if someone doesn't port, no need to worry as our device is officially supported by CM
At least gpe edition or moto g 4g edition will get it
As gpe is supposed to get updates for 1.5 yes
But it may expand to 2 yes
Don't worry our moto g is immortal
Will get updates every time

at the time of writing this the android police link was offline. But if that has something to take with minimizing the wakelocks feature when the phone kept without use for longer periods, its nothing but they tweaked the activity manager. I discussed that with one developer he said let the source come then he can tell something about it. But he said it is not very big thing.... But who knows what is under the hood..
Nexus has got developer preview of M, my friend told nothing so exciting except some addons. i wonder is our Falcon able to handle M
dudes and dudettes, falcon and peregrine are 2 years old devices, I highly doubt that we get another update. Has been enough for a medium-end device, time to go to CM
To state some facts: (Assumes Android updates are only provided for 2 years)
Moto G (Falcon) went on sale in November 2013 (Update support ends November 2015)
Moto G GPE (Falcon) went on sale January 2014 (Update support ends January 2016)
Moto G 4G (Peregrine) went on sale June 2014 (Update support ends June 2016)
Moto G (Titan) went on sale September 2014 (Update support ends September 2016)
Historically Motorola releases new versions of Android first for Moto X during November, then Moto G, in December. I would not be surprised to see an Android M release for Moto G GPE in Novemeber 2015.
From what I have seen of Android M; I suspect there will be no issue with 'Falcon' hardware being able to run it as fluidly as Lollipop. Also Moto G (2015) (Titan) has identical hardware for the most-part.
Android M (6) "Mentos Edition" Lol

That was my feelings as well. This is the earliest I've ever seen a developer preview released. According to Google, the OEMs should be receiving the update this summer.
I kind of wish they'd focus on perfecting a release before just moving on to the next. I can understand going on to the next version if big changes are in store, which it sounds like that is the case with "N", but we will see. Multi-window sounds nice, doze mode with screen off (orientation does not matter), dark/night mode, updated ART compiler (no more Optimizing Apps screen), and the switch to OpenJDK.
i doubt that our processor can handle split windows as shown in preview ,
can anyone say if i am true ??

I hope someone manages to make an AOSP port as fast as last year, how long did it take for someone to port 6.0 after release? Like a week if I'm not mistaken
Last year MM AOSP build was released by @updateing & it was like within a week of source release. Hopefully this year we will get same love for bacon :'D
With all the ART changes 7.0 might be a bit more complex to port to our device, but I'm no developer so I dunno. Hope someone, or even @updating manages the same feat as last year's Marshmallow!

800 krait 400 with adreno 3xx graphics
805 krait 450 with adreno 4xx graphics
The most basic thing on hardware comparison, the SoC, is totally different, but you propose to still try it? Lets use our brains a little and:
which device with nougat has the same specs? Z3 does, doesnt it? People need to remember that theres not even kernel sources for either AOSP images or Sony's, which make the process times harder. I would choose the device with more similarities(Z3!), and in no way the Nexus 6 is an option if youre looking for similar hardware to make the port easier.
So, the conclusion is:
A port could come from Z3's nougat, but not from N6, simples as that.

I wouldn't expect jack from asus, it all depends on intel porting N to x86
If they do there is the possibility of CM14.........as long as cyanogen doesn't drops official support for the ZF2

Yeah Asus is gonna announce they're halting android 6 development to give us the new and improved os: Nougat. Estimated release date October 32th 2018 to be postponed to July 45th 2019 couse of unspecified issues. Stay tuned.
Seriously, seeing as things are going I wouldn't bet a thing on Asus working on n for this device.
Sent from my ASUS_Z008D
I wouldn't think it likely. Thus far, we have official ASUS statements on getting 6.0 on the device followed by a considerable period of support with security updates.
Seeing that Intel has basically exited the mobile phone market, ceasing development on any further chips to compete with arm and actually opening up their own fabrication facilities to other manufacturers to make their chips in, and that it has taken this long to get the sources for 6 in a usable state on x86 at all, you could say that we are most likely not getting it. Add to that the new Zenfone devices on the cusp of coming out, unless ASUS pulls one hell of a magic trick, 6.0 is where we will have our devices left at officially.

Yes I also seen some ones tried to modify antennas and some developed there own modem by dissembling OPO.
But that's of no use??????????
In Belgium the OPO was (screw it, still is!) a high end device without a doubt. It's often been mentioned as midrange because of its midrange price but that was the coolest thing about this device, it hardly made any cuts on hardware and design compared to the other flagships. In many ways it even beat the competition for over a year (that's 5 years in tech years, lol). Shame they don't do that anymore!

Have you tried using the app Trimmer (fstrim)? Search it on Google play. It requires root access but it works magic in speeding up older phones.

Android Oreo Go is a lite version of Oreo with optimizations for low-end devices only.OPO is a mid-end device(I'd love to call it a high-end device, but it has no v0lte,yet..that's a shame, ofcourse) with hardware capable of flying like jet rocket even on normal version of Oreo.
I'd love to reply even more if you open v0lte discussion thread sometime.

Was a high end device in it's time, with today's phones you can call it mid-end ...still it was high end one time(still more than capable from other mid-range 2017 phones)
