I hope this isn't the wrong forum. This is my first post.
I have a Nexus 4 running Android 4.4.2 rooted. I have a few issues that I wonder if others are having. In chrome i have 'location unavailable'. GPS is turned on, but if I tap 'use precise location' nothing happens. Waze works, so my GPS is functioning.
Second issue is if I follow a link that wants to open my Wikipedia app, I get the message that Wikipedia has stopped functioning and it closes. I've had the same issue with a few other apps but Wikipedia happens all the time.
I had changed my runtime to ART. I switched back to Dalvik and same problems. I'm also using GEL. Are these known issues? If so is it due to 4.4 specifically or is it the GEL launcher? I hope it's not the launcher because I really like it.

All I can say is that it's NOT the launcher. When I switched to ART, the TImely app kept force closing. Regarding the wikipedia app, u can wait for an update
Have you enabled the google ocation report? If you haven't, maybe that's why chrome can't detect your location. Also try using high accuracy option.
I'm on 5.0 with Xposed and the ColorFade Memory Leak fix. However, it seems that Lollipop is still force closing background apps too quickly. I play Hearthstone a lot, and I used to background it to go on chrome or respond to a text message or something in Kitkat 4.4 with no issues. Now on 5.0, it will close very quickly. I even hit home sometimes and went right back into the app without doing anything else, and saw that it had closed instantly. Is there any fix for this, or do I just have to wait?
I also noticed that when I was using Google maps and Spotify, then opened Waze, the first two would force close as well. This wasn't an issue on KK 4.0 either.
have the same issues on the stock firmware
I'm on tmo and I have the same problem. it's with stock and AOSP. I can't run pocket cast and anything else for fear of pocketcast (or google music for that matter) closing. I wonder if there is a way to increase it's priority so lollipop won't close it.

I heard that TouchWiz by Samsung wasn't supposed to have this issue even though all other flavors did, but considering I'm having it, it's not the case.
There's a thing in the Xposed module, App settings, called resident which allows an application to be forced/higher priority in memory, but I find it either doesn't work because lollipop's force close background apps is too strong, or it only makes the background apps stay a tiny bit longer.
Update: I found out today that my issue was disabling Touchwiz's DVFS in the Wanam Xposed module. Re-enabling it fixed all my issues it seems.

Wow, is that what's been happening? I've been having this same problem on my T-mo Note 4 N910T (Lollipop 5.0.1) with apps aggressively being killed. I've been pulling my hair out because I had no idea why. After seeing your post and disabling the DVFS killer I no longer have this issue. Overlooked it because it just wasn't in my list of things that would be causing it. Thank you!
Marshmallow was automatically installed a couple of weeks ago and has no discernible improvements whatsoever and a whole host of problems (not least that the casting function is now either flakey or non existent and appears and disappears randomly) Because of the casting and dlna problems I want to do a factory reset and revert to lollipop. How can I stop the np automatically 'upgrading" to marshmallow? I know I have the option to turn off app auto updates on Google play but I can't see how to stop it installing marshmallow. Thanks very much.

Ok thanks. But I said I knew how to stop app auto updates. I'm interested in seeing if I can stop auto system updates. It's easy on a phone or tablet. I can't see how it's done on the np. Thanks.
Sideload the "My Android Tools" app which is available at https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=cn.wq.myandroidtools&hl=en. After it's installed on your Nexus Player, open and configure it as shown here by using a mouse but you will need root access for this to work.
Service >> System >> Search >> Google Play Services >> Disable SystemUpdateService.

Yes I know, you can stop system updates aswell,. ^ basically does what gabby said
Ok. Will do. Thanks very much to both. It's a pity I can't do it without rooting it though (which I don't want do) So it looks like I have no choice but to have marshmallow installed which is crazy really.

Yes, marshmellow is very buggy for me. I have constant error messages where it says this has stopped working, and external storage issues. Are you having the same issues?
My issues are all casting related. Casting is non existent on Ethernet and buggy as hell on wireless. Dnla is also awful and frequently won't work under marshmallow. On my phone I deliberately don't update to a new os until all the problems are sorted. With the nexus player I'm given no choice.
Hi all, the title itself is self explanatory.
Happens on all major browsers, at first I suspect Chrome being the culprit. After installing all other popular browser (Firefox, Opera, Dolphin, everything you could see in the Play Store), I know for sure it not them. It's the goddamn phone.
Anyone else experiencing this? Or does anyone knows of how to fix this? I've been googling fix for this **** for more than 3 weeks now.
Stock rom, bootloader intact, latest update.
Thanks
Try to install "Adreno GPU Developer Preview Drivers" from magisk..
That's the thing, I'm not rooted. Any other suggestion?
Hello. In last few days*I have a problem with lag and fluidity that occur occasionally. Example - the phone works perfect, fluidly and fast, and then a lag problem occurs and the phone slows down. So when I scrolling something, animations become very slow. It's not fluid, clear and fast, it's lagging, it's work very slow. That problem takes a minute, sometimes less of minute, and then the phone returns to normal with fast and fluid animations, work perfect, but after a while time, the lagging and slow work returns for a minute and gone, and it's been that way all day in the circle. What is problem? Do anyone have solution or all I can do is to wait new update with hope that new update will solve this problem? Thanks!*

I'm on 11.0.5.0 as well and device is running really well but then when I installed it, I formatted the device as I was coming from a custom rom. i stayed on this update as it was working really well even though havocOS, the rom i used for a long time, has released new update.
Same problem on xiaomi.eu 11.0.4...mostly happening on direct sunlight. Nothing helps, maybe changing color scheme....
Laggy mi 9t
After last update 11.0.5 became laggy for short time then smooth and repeated so many times

Yes, exactly thay. That's very annoying, and still no new update to fix this problem. Send it to developers in settings > feedback. If they see more reports with the same problem, they may be able to fix the problem faster. I already sent.

Yes, I see know, vault is make a problem in the background with lag and slow phone work. Thank you!

Where do you disable and uninstall app vault?
Can't find app vault in my installed apps, but in play store I can uninstall updates but not deactivate the app
Problem is probably in newest update, so I think is enough to uninstall any updates from app Vault, and the phone will work perfect without this problem with lag and slow work. I disabled app in settings > apps > manage apps, find Vault and disable, clear all data and updates from app. You can delete Vault with Fastboot Tool on PC if you want

on my phone it is not possible to disable it. i havenĀ“t rooted my phone. how did you manage to disable it?
Couldn't disable it, too. Just uninstalled updates and disabled automatic updates so that it won't download the bad version again. Works for now
I have a solution

the name of the application changes according to the language of each, the word vault is translated infact, go to the management of the applications, and scroll through all the applications, be careful to the icon of this application that you have already seen on the play store, so that you can uninstall it.
Today this started happening to me. I'm on 11.0.5 Global, stock and not rooted. I had 11.0.5 for about a week, don't understand why this started happening now. I uninstalled updates of App Vault and it looks like it runs smooth now.
I'm still getting lag even after uninstalling App Vault updates. It was good until today.
Just look for "App Vault" in my apps on Google Playstore and uninstall it from there. Can't say the problems related to 11.0.5.0 are completely resolved but uninstalling app vault seems to have given the phone some breather.
EDIT: No major difference, home screen lag is back despite removing app vault.
EDIT: Updating all the installed apps have fixed the lag issue. It was definitely related to incompatibility with one of the apps that were pending updates on Playstore since installing 11.0.5.0 update. It's worth noting that worse lag was triggered after I received Xiaomi's browser update today.
