So when i got the N7 a few weeks back, i installed Snapdragon BatteryGuru.... It still is installed and it appears to be working.
But i noticed an update on my N4 and when i went to update it on my N7 it didnt show on Google play.... manually finding it, it shows that "its no longer supported"
Anyone have any info on this? Perhaps is better to unsintall it rather than keep it there?
You can try greenify instead, it does a better job than batteryguru

So i have same question. Realized it all of a sudden says incompatible and doesn't show up in my Googleplay apps. But iit'salso aallready installed on my nexus7 2013. Since greenify is root only that doesn't help me. Guru seems to work good on nex 4 and seemed to on new nexus7, but why does it say incompatible in the play store and not show up in the play apps. I see it in the Androidapp ssection.
Perhaps it needs to be allowed to be installed on a device with 4.3

yes, because i was bored one day. I also rooted because i wanted to use certain apps. And i was tempted by seeing all these roms. I wanted better speaker quality as well.
Yes, I did root my new Nexus 7 for the same reasons I root every Android device I own. I run custom ROMs, kernels, and use apps that require root access. I can't stand the fact that they got rid of tablet mode, so I'm running a ROM that allows tablet mode. I like to change the DPI on my devices to maximize the screen real estate. I also tweak custom kernels to improve battery life. I've never owned an un-rooted Android device for more than about an hour. No matter how good the device is out of the box, there's always a few developers out there willing to make it a little better.
Absolutely, I could probably run totally stock with no big inconvenience, but I absolutely, positively, in no uncertain terms, do without Titanium Backup, which requires root access. There are some other root apps that I use, but I could probably live without, but NOT TB!
Android Firewall. 'Nuff said.

I don't understand why someone wouldn't root their device. TWRP, Paranoid Android, Titanium Backup, WiFi Tether, etc., there's so much goodness opened up when you root.
Yes for titanium backup and twrp

TWRP, Greenify, custom ROM, USB OTG, and ad blockers!
Swipe to wake/swipe to sleep using Bulletproof kernel and some minor debloating. Otherwise happy with stock experience. May want to try some custom Roms down the road, now that I have the option.

Bit of a pointless thread don't you reckon? It's a generic question.
Sent from my Nexus 4
Absolutely, the second it left the box it went straight into the computer and was rooted
Why? I use a lot of root apps
Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk 4
Yes. Greenify, adaway, titanium backup, and lmt launcher.

Rooted it the same day I got it -- for the various tweaks via ROM/kernel plus the apps like AdAway and CifsManager.

Unlocked 1st one, loaded TWRP. Did backups and stuff. Then reloaded all defaults, re-locked. Kept at stock. If this didn't void the warranty read on... LOL
However, I dropped it on concrete and broke the screen badly. I (now) highly recommend a $10 case prior to taking it out of the house.
Took it apart, removed sticky parts and broken glass, cleaned it up. Waiting for replacements (digitizer and LCD) to go down in price before a fix. Probably take a year. At least there are two or three vendors with stock on ebay. Oh well. Both the touch screen layer and the display LCD are cracked. I thought about using just a mouse but the LCD does not work 100%.
Does this count as physically rooted? LOL
I got a replacement on Office Max 20% discount, also currently stock. I might root it later, for specific programs requiring root and flashing ROM.
Noob question, can I transfer apps + data from my old nexus 7 to the 2013?
of course ,I did.some apps require root
I haven't got the device yet but I have a folder on my pc that is screaming out for it. I'll unbox it, check it is okay then root it.
Well, I'll chuck some charge into it too before hand but rooting will be done on day 1.
Why? Some apps I use need root.
Mine is rooted simply to use the Paranoid Android ROM. The PA ROM offers features such as HALO and Pie Controls, plus lots of other UI enhancements.
If you've never rooted your Nexus, you can go the automated way, and use Wugfresh Toolkit, or read up on this guide to learn how to manually root your Nexus.
After that, I highly recommend installing the Paranoid Android ROM.
Rooted it last night. Biggest reason is to use AdAway. I can't stand ads or YouTube pre-roll ads. Will also be installing apps such as Greenify, TiBu and a couple others shortly.
Will eventually get around to flashing a custom ROM once development stabilizes.

Since the last update to the Google photos app on both mine and my wife's Nexus 10 both running lollipop 5.1.1, videos stutter as if its missing frames or don't show any image at all just sound. It all works fine on my Nexus 5 so must be specific to the Nexus 10. Has anyone else noticed this and found a solution?

Have the same problem.
Went to App-Info and uninstalled updates.
Is this the only solution for now?
Yes. I have just received another update to the photos app but its still the same. Let's hope Google fix it soon.

Bad thing is I have this issue on nexus 6. It definitely needs a fix!
I have the same issue. But what's interesting here is that unlike the first post's writer told I have it on nexus 5 running android 5.1.1. Currently using MX player and videos work just fine.
Hmmm. Also Nexus 6 here.
I have the same problem on my Nexus 6. I though it started when I uninstalled a previous update to Camera/Photos last month sometime. Every video I playback through Photos stutters, but at least through Camera I can change the default video player. Wish I could do the same for Photos. Also, just notice a generally lag on my Nexus 6 recently...
I hate wiping and starting fresh, but I just may have to.
The bug is still here. Version 1.30 on Nexus 6. Damned mumbai programmers...
The stuttering is still here on v. 1.4.0.102264174 on Nexus 6 running android 5.1.1_r12. However, the issue can be fixed by going to developer settings and switching from NuPlayer to AwesomePlayer in Media settings.

Wow, thanks Kariharri! That works!
I have less than required posts to post in the Pure Nexus Project thread but I believe this question applies to multiple if not all ROMs. Google Cardboard works in stock images, but in a ROM there is double vision. I've tried changing the DPI and the viewer QR but nothing has helped. I'd like to understand the issue as well as fix it. Pure Nexus Project ROM has been excellent in all other aspects. Thanks.

I honestly haven't noticed any issues. I'm running Pure Nexus as well. I just got my Star Wars Google Cardboard headset a couple of days ago though and haven't had a whole lot of time with it, but I do also have a Note 5 that's completely stock and have used it with the headset as well and have noticed little difference between the two.

Beans update the ROM and fixed this DPI issue
Just saw this on the Android subreddit, wanted to share with you all! the download links for entire Xperia Z5 Family are provided in the following link:
https://plus.google.com/+EvanAndersonA/posts/72TLZMj4K5S
Bugs/Broken Features (That I've found):
- Front Camera has color problems (Similar to the CyanogenMod 13 Rom Rear Camera)
- Back Camera is flipped upside down (Very difficult to actually take pictures), but color is fine and focus seems fine (limited testing)
- No Fingerprint Sensor
The following Zip has the assert line removed from updater-script so it won't check your device before flashing. BE WARNED, if your device is not the Z5 Premium Satsuki, flashing this could break your device.

Happened to me too, its because of the twrp image we are using (Had the same problem when flashing Resurrection Remix). I removed the assert line from updater-script (hacky fix) so that you can straight up flash it (worked on mine), but make sure your device is actually Xperia Z5 Premium Satsuki. If it isn't you might risk soft-bricking your device if not worst. I will not be held responsible for any mistake.

How does the rom feel is it stable?

BT Audio works fine, no stuttering at all. Can't test talk, don't have a BT headset.
Like I said fingerprint doesn't work at the moment, I think it has to do with the kernel they packaged with it. Fingerprint support might cane in a later update seeing as how the other devices with paranoid support it.
It's super stable, the animations are really fluid, I haven't hit any bugs or crashes.
It doesn't seem to support Quick Charge out of the box, might again be a kernel thing (maybe they used more or less the same one for the whole xperia family?).
I love this ROM, heavily considering staying permanently on it just to see where they take it (at least until Sony releases Nougat). It comes very light, boots in under a minute (after first boot which took maybe 10-15 minutes). Downside again is camera isn't much better than the cyanogenmod/resurrectionremix Roms (if you can take pictures upside down then you'll be fine).
It has cyanogenmod theme engine (and support for layers) which is pretty awesome, only thing is I'd recommend replacing the stock launcher as it is very limited.
That's all I can think of at the moment.
TLDR: love this ROM, best to date other than some bugs/missing features. This is more stable than the ps4 after all it's stability updates (never experienced lag).

Flash OpenGAPPS after you've flashed the PA zip. Choose ARM64 and Android 6.0 on the OpenGAPPS website, the zip file size is up to you, read the description for each one until you find the one that's for you. I like to install the stock version for the "Nexus experience"
If it still doesn't work flash everything after you made a factory reset.
PS. Luckypatcher is something that's against the XDA rules, never mention it again, I'm just looking out for you. Read XDA rules for more info.

Excellent!
Installed / Rooted / Xposed
Pros:
Insanely snappy
Great battery life
Scored a 65720 on Antutu (im sure this will go up with kernel enhancements)
Bluetooth works flawlessly
Cons:
Headphones aren't detected when plugged in (Using SoundAbout as a work around)
front camera has blue hue (i read a fix was put out for the camera drivers? So maybe it will be fixed soon!)
back camera is flipped/mirrored

Headphones don't work for you? Weird they work fine for me. My battery life was pretty good at the beginning, but now i only get 2-3 hours sot. No root or Xposed.
Amazing
I'm really excited to flash this ROM thus the fingerprint issue is keeping me from doing it any news about this issue?

thank you then i'll have to wait
Firstly, KICKASS ROM! A few hicksup here and there to get it running. Got the Error 7, then when I successfully flashed it, I lost my root and then eventually when I got everything working, it wasnt charging. After a couple of reboots, it is working fine. Missing the fingerprint sensor. So far, so good.

Yeah this rom is pretty awesome!! If you want root you have to flash it after you flash the rom. I only wish they had a more stable update schedule.
2 issues:
Camera is completely gone (calibration is off, blue tone etc)
Doesn't charge without restarting
1 Feedback:
Fingerprint doesn't work
